Welcome to Gaia! ::

Lets set sail!
User Image

Hello, and welcome to the Cordelia, named for it's Celtic meaning "of the sea." This luxurious ship will be traveling the world over the course of one year. In that time, we have many activities aboard our ship you can enjoy. Your room location on the boat will depend on your class, which is stated on your ticket. Class A's rooms are nearest to the deck, and each class following is one story below the class before it. We are so glad that you have joined us on our maiden voyage and hope you have a wonderful trip on the Cordelia!

Story
It is the year 2030. A new ship has been created and is said to be the greatest ship ever made in size and power. People have said it is as groundbreaking as the Titanic. In fact, it was modeled after the Titanic (but modernized), only this time, it was unsinkable, at least that's what the owners claim. People have come from all regions of the world to set sail on the maiden voyage of the ship.

        Character's Name: Damian Krawsley

        Age: 20

        Class: C

        Gender: Male

Bio: As the youngest and most hard working engineer, Damian won a free trip around the world on the pristine cruise ship Cordelia to which he worked slavishly to keep in tip-top shape. That's right, he is an engineer hired to keep track of all the grudge work aboard Cordelia as it sails. Although his trip isn't necessarily "free", he does get some time off to travel about the ship as a normal passenger, and he uses this given time to his advantage. Damian is a quiet man who doesn't fancy in much social activities such as dancing or any other popular cruise amenities, but instead takes favor toward more solitary activities, such as painting or composing music within one of the many music studios held on the ship. Damian hopes to find complete serenity within this year round trip, whether it be from something he's done, someone he's met, or all of the above. However form it comes in, he hopes to grab hold of it and never let it go.

With a heavy sigh Damian tapped on one of the many heat monitors,
in one of the many boiler rooms, for about the hundredth time, today.
Cordelia was due to set sail on this very day, so all the workers who
would be in charge of maintenance aboard the ship were called forth
early to make sure everything was as it should be before it set sailed
for it's year long course. Almost all the grunt workers were placed in C
Class, the higher ups who received Class B and above were all corporate
people, they're the ones who get the glory while the ones truly deserving
praise are stuck with low class living. It was now about a half hour before
the grand opening of Cordelia, and all was going accordingly. Nothing
was wrong with the engines, the pressure was normal, since it was a
newer version of an old fashioned ship, the Cordelia took less work and
        less attention.

Damian, with a very sullen face, began making his way back up the
ship towards the class C living quarters. Since his room was towards
the edge of the ship he could hear the cheers and celebratory music
boom and erupt from the many awaiting passengers and bystanders.
His eyes trailed the sides of the hall he now found himself in, he didn't
dare look any other person in the eye that passed him by, he was sure
that they all wore the same look of longing for something better. Finally
he made it to his room, without having to look anyone in the eyes, or
being stopped by some overly friendly worker. He unlocked the hotel like
door, and stepped into his small room.

Celeste grabbed her bags from the car. " Let someone else get your bags, dear." Said her mother. " I can handle it, mom." Her mother was about to object, but before she could Celeste turned and walked toward the ship with her bags in hand. After she presented her ticket and got her room key, she decided to take her bags to her room before she did anything else. She had her own suite on the ship in class A next to her parents, so once she received directions on how to get to it, she headed toward her room.
The suite was quite large, even for a suite. Celeste left her bags in her room and locked the door behind her. She wanted to look around the ship for a while. As Celeste walked, she looked about the place in awe.

As Damian crossed the small living room he heard the boisterous
cheers of the boarding citizens, it seemed as though they were letting
them board early. Damian let his light purple eyes drift to the windowless
wall, it was clean but still very under dressed and rather boring. It
matched the rest of the room, gray, average, and cheap. The up side
to this room was that all the basic technology for living was provided,
purifier pills, communication holograms, touch screen internet boards,
and a food link straight to the kitchen for those who don't feel like going
out to eat. He swiftly moved over to the control panel next to the door
and punched in a short code, the key pad beeped, then asked for voice
confirmation, after clearing his dry throat Damian spoke in a clear and
heavy voice, "Confirmation Unnecessary." The pad beeped once more,
then replied, "Welcome Damian Krawsley, you're clear to access any
information data necessary to carry out your duties."
        Damian rolled his
eyes, as if he needed the damn computer to tell him that, he quickly
requested that he receive his schedule for the year a.s.a.p., so he could
plan out the rest of his stay.

He knew he had today off, so he exited his dull room and began heading
up to the surface of the boat. As he began ascending the many stair cases
he began to see more and more faces pass him by, he assumed it was going
to grow very crowded down in the lower class section very soon. It took
hardly any time for Damian to make his way up to the top deck where
many faces were chatting it up aboard the massive cruise ship. He looked
around, the happy atmosphere was almost contagious, and he himself
could hardly resist letting a small smile settle on his face. He walked passed
the thick crowd of boarding passengers, to the edge of the boat on the northwest
side, he looked out onto the deck, and noted every person he saw making their
way up to their year long paradise.

Celeste continued walking around the deck of the ship, familiarizing herself with her surroundings. The deck was getting more crowded with every minute passed. Because she wasn't watching where she was going, she collided with a boy with light teal hair and fell to the ground. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. " I'm really sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going." She said, brushing the hair out of her face. " Ugh. I'm so clumsy." She mumbled.

Damian felt a small shove to his side, and looked over swiftly just
to notice a young lady who accidentally bumped into him. He gave the young
lass a light smile and gently grabbed for her hand and helped her up. She
had wonderful magenta hair that was held together by two pigtails at the
top of her head. He was taken back by the girl's brilliant, almost golden, eyes.
But they seemed fitting, for she was dressed in very rich clothing and in fabric
that must have cost a fortune. Her outfit made his heart sink, he felt almost
ashamed to even touch such a clean and proper thing with his own lowly
and filthy hands. He looked away from her after making sure she was standing
straight once more, then tried to talk to her in the most formal fashion he could
muster. "It's far from your fault miss. I hope you don't mind my helping you
up, that is, I hope I haven't ruined your nice cloth."
        He looked at his rough
hands then tucked them in his pockets and looked at the girl apologetically. "My
name is Damian Krawsley, by the way... I just wanted to introduce myself before I
would forget to do it later."
He let out a sheepish smile and also a
        hesitant hand.

Celeste looked down at her clothes at the mention of them and straightened out her dress. " My clothes are fine." She shook the offered hand. " I'm glad you understand. Some people would throw a tantrum if you bumped into them. My name is Celeste." She smiled.
The man's hair was a light teal. He looked like he might work on the ship by the look of his clothing and hands. " It's a pleasure to meet you."

Damian's rough hand had once again brushed against her soft hand as they
shook, he smiled warmly, she didn't seem as up tight as most the upper class
citizens seemed to get. "Glad to hear it." His face was much softer now, he
felt almost relieved to talk to another being who wasn't yelling at him. "Lovely
name Celeste. The pleasure is all mine."
He let his hand drop at his side, then
looked over the edge of the boat, then back to Celeste. "So, what drew you to
this wonderful cruise line? If that's not too personal a question."

Celeste dropped her hand back to her side. " I just graduated from high school and before I go off to college, my parents are taking me on this cruise as a gift." She said. Celeste joined him at the railing on the edge of the boat. " What about you? Why are you here?"

Damian looked at the young lady and his smile faded slightly,
his reason for being here was not quite as pleasant. He sighed and
looked again at the docks, and saw that it was clearing up ever so
slightly, and he knew his job upon this boat was going to one of the
most difficult one's he's ever held. Finally Damian looked at Celeste
and decided to tell her why he was here, "I'm not here on a vacation
        or anything.... I actually,"
he interrupted his own thoughts, did he really
want this kid to think he was some sort of oil monkey working down
in the slumps of the ship? It would seem repulsive, wouldn't it? "I work
on the ship as one of the corporate representatives. I don't enjoy being
in uniform, that's why I'm in these rags. A little rebellion is healthy."

Celeste looked on the small docks below. Most people had gotten aboard the ship that were supposed to be on. When Damian told her that he worked as a corporate representative, she turned her gaze back to him. " That must be interesting." She said. At the mention of uniform, she looked down at her dress. " I understand the clothes thing. My mother tells me a dress the 'proper thing for a girl like me to wear'. Honestly, I don't get what the big deal is."
