01. First thing's first. Literacy. In order to participate in this thread, you are required to be literate. This means you must type at least four lines (a paragraph) in third person with proper grammar and punctuation. I do not want to see any *, - etc… for actions. Please post your out of character comments in some sort of brackets stating you are posting out of character. Along with this, I do not want emoticons used in your in-character posts.

02. Please follow Gaia's Terms of Service.

04. Romance is encouraged. I expect everything to stay at PG-13 please. There is no auto-coupling, but as long as both role players agree to the couple, then by all means.

05. Applications must be sent directly to me, Bolshevik Syndrome. If your profile is posted within the thread, it will be ignored and deleted. To make sure you have read the rules, please make the title of your private message: “nothing left to salvage”.

06. No God-moding, auto-hitting, power playing etc. permitted.

07. Please post a couple times a week. I'd like to keep this roleplay active and moving. Wouldn't that be awesome? Also, please inform me if you're leaving for a long period of time. It saves your character from being given up and me, your thread mistress, a lot of hassle.

08. Over-crowded threads can be... Confusing, frustrating and upsetting, so rather than having that happen, I will obviously not allow every country to be taken. All of the major ones, yes of course, but I don't want to have everyone applying for a small country and then just disappear. Fair? Now that the thread is filling up more though, feel free to send in applications that will apply to the storyline! [/contradictory]

09. Concerning the newly introduced original characters, standard procedure applies. I do not want to see any Mary-Sues, Gary-Stues or Emo Steves... Whatever. Your character must follow some sort of implemented stereotype. The original character cannot be a repeat of another, and finally, if it does not have a connection with another country who's pants you'd like to personally get into, do not have your character act as such, it is out of character. If there was tension that included your country and another in the past, then take that tension into consideration. Play your character accordingly. If I have a problem with it, I will let you know. If you are interested in playing an original character, please title your PM “left here to decay” with your completed profile.

10. Considering you listen me, the thread mistress, the secondary authoritative figures in this roleplay are Hallow Genki, her-my-oh-ninny and Shotgun Mouthwash. What they say goes, guys. Of course, I do get the final say in any conflicts, not that I will disagree with them. The threads mods and myself tend to agree on most things, especially when it deals with stupidity.

INDENTThe world today, as you know, has many problems spawning from lasting issues and bitter rivalries in the past, as well as new bothersome ideals and agreements of the present. The possibility of new alliances used to fix the wrong that has been done in the world is present, but time's old teams of the Axis Powers and the Allied Forces remain and may be utilized to further fight for what they believe. Countries may dwell on previous events to fuel their decision making, advance forward with the current ideals and issues that affect the world presently, or begin some sort of new action to rise from America's large shadow of strength. As of now, the United States is the strongest power around the world. It is up to you to make the current decisions of the country selected and choose to rise to power, or to remain hidden in the shadows of the stronger, more wealthy countries.

[ APRIL 2009 ] - [ ? ] XXXXX " H1N1 ' Swine Flu ' Pandemic "
Also known as the Mexican Flu. A global advancement of the influenza virus. It consists of four known flu strains; one in humans, one in birds and two endemics in pigs. It did not come into existence because of pigs. H1N1 has infected hundreds globally, though generally in the South and North American region. It, like any other illness without proper health care, can be deadly to those with a weak immune system ( such as the elderly, obese individuals or those with diabetes; if left untreated. In conclusion, it is a simple flu bug blown out of proportion.
↘xxxAmerica, infected by the H1N1, was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with carrying the virus. Alfred, obviously having a strong immune system, is enduring and surviving the hyped flu. The symptoms are the same of that of a regular influenza bug and should therefore be treated as such.



[ SEPTEMBER 01 2009 ] XXXXX " Treaty von Freiheit "
A treaty designed to ally the world's strong pillars -- United Germany and America -- and created stronger trade agreements. This would also free Germany of the ridiculous payment it was required to entirely pay from World War II, or at least annul whatever what was left of the debt.

↘xxxUpon having Alfred collapse within his home due to the combination of the flu, very little rest and a vague symptom that may or may not have affected the overall collapse, Germany headed to the hospital in which England had dialed and ambulance for. Both England and Germany wound up being treated due to the H1N1 scare, however they both came out with clean bills.



[ SEPTEMBER 14 2009 ] XXXXX " The Struggle of a Rising Power "
A leader of a rising power within Germany visited Milan, Italy in request of assistance to split the state of Germany into East and West once again. The ultimate goal was to revive the strong nation of Prussia. Having such a request so simply denied, the displeased Germanic leader launched an attack on Milan in attempt to assassinate said individual who denied him of assistance. The assassination was a failure, and as result, tension built between the severing country of Germany and Italy.

↘xxxIn correspondence with the second event [please refer down to post ten for more details], a beer bottle was dropped onto the ceramic tile floor in surprise to Italy's apparent transformation by Gilbert within Germany's kitchen. Slipping on the wet surface slick with beer, Italy's hands and feet were deeply embedded with glass.



[ SEPTEMBER 28 2009 ] - [ ? ] XXXXX " Germanic Civil War "
Unhappy with the outcome of the German election with a woman from the CDU ( Christian Democratic Union ) winning the majority of the votes and the desired arrangement with the North Italian power shot down, Eastern German began to detach and claim itself as its own nation while leaving any and all of it's debts behind. Unhappy with this, great disputes began between Japan, Austria ( joined with W.Germany ) West Germany, and East Germany, America and Israel, what began as a civil war exploded into something more.

↘xxxFollowing the events in the kitchen with the beer bottle and the injured Italian, Gilbert, feeling distraught and upset with Ludwig's loyalty to Feliciano, tore his Iron Cross from his neck and discarded it, thus attempting to detach himself from his brother. Austria, who picked up the Iron Cross, kept it in his grasp and attempted to assure Ludwig that Gilbert was simply being foolish and rash. Japan, though unknown to Germany, had cleaned up the mess that Gilbert had left behind in the kitchen as well as the laundry Ludwig had tossed into the basement from Feliciano's wounds.



[ SEPTEMBER 29 2009 ] XXXXX " The Bombing of Berlin "
American soldiers ( along with an eager, closely-tied Israel and Canada, who however, decided to stay out of it ), had previously established bases within German territory and had been developing aerial bombs, were given instructions to bomb Berlin in retaliation for East Germany. America agreed with East Germany's thoughts and took the chance now that Germany ( West in particular ) was in a weak state. Breaking off from Germany would weaken it as a whole along with its militia. America also disagreed with Germany's choice of leader, so taking sides with the rebelling East Germany ( now announcing itself as Prussia ) was only natural. The bomb, released at exactly quarter to eleven in the evening crippled Germany's capital city and killed thousands. The treaty that was forming between Germany and America was immediately annulled, and war a began.

↘xxxGrowing frustrated with Ludwig after walking in on Germany helping the injured Italian with showering, America tossed a pomegranate up against the ceiling. It exploded and sent its seeds exploding into the immediate surrounding area, thus staining everything it came in contact with. Initially it was Roderich who first stumbled upon the mess and summoned his brother forward, but it was Ludwig who accused two of the three in the room as the perpetrators -- Joseph and Alfred -- and threw them back against the wall in a mad rage.

[ MARCH 29 2010 ] - [ JUNE 29 2010 ] XXXXX " Boiling Point "
On March 29, 2010, at approximately 8:55 p.m. Moscow time, two women entered a train station in Derbent, a town in the Russian republic of Dagestan. A bomb hidden in a garbage container was detonated by one while the other made a distraction, causing an explosion in the small station that killed one woman and injured five others. The two women were later identified as Chechen rebels.

Three months later, after much debate in the Russian government about what to do over the attack and increasing Chechen public interest in a revolt, Russian ground forces were dispatched to Chechen cities to quell riots that had erupted. The Chechens continued to fight the forces, eventually resorting to deadly force. After a week of fighting Russia called its troops back in; 61 Russian soldiers and 119 Chechen citizens were dead alongside 418 injured total. Chechnya was in arms over how many of its civilians were murdered. Rebel forces are rumored to be preparing for another attack on Moscow.

↘xxxMalik, tired of being repressed by his overbearing father Ivan, broke into Ivan's house and quickly set about burning and slashing anything in sight. Natalia came downstairs to try and stop Malik, but was merely slapped away. Once upstairs, Ivan grabbed a pipe and struck Malik over the shoulder, breaking his collarbone and left shoulderblade. In a rage, Malik took a swing at his father with a machete only to get it caught on a railing.

If we were to have every single country become active, this roleplay would get a little hectic. So please, pick from the main characters that the main story touched upon. Also, if there is a character you wish to be that is not listed, please feel free to ask about playing that character. I'll tell you whether or not s/he is available or is off the accepted character list. For now, I am simply listing the main characters.

At random intervals (when I say so), we will be having various events within the roleplay, that obviously, involve the characters within the roleplay. The events are meant to be humorous in order to balance out the seriousness occurring. The event idea was inspired by Femme Richter and are chosen by the roleplayers of this thread.

E v e n t X N o . 1 : XXA r r a n g e d - P a i r i n g s

Here's how this will work. The characters below (selected entirely at random as requested by the roleplayers of this thread) will be forced into a relationship. How will they know that they are within a relationship? Simple. Each character will have the name of their partner(s) engraved on a simple gold band. The ring, however, cannot be removed until the event ends. Understandable? Any questions that come to mind, please feel free to ask.

The event will begin on Friday August 7th.

E v e n t X N o . 2 : XXH e ' s - a - L a d y ! ?

Now that the rings are removable, the characters may do with them as they wish. They won't disappear, but they can disposed of, can still be worn, or whatever they choose to do with them. The ukes of the previous arranged relationships ( listed above ) will now physically become women for an extended amount of time; basically until the event ends.

The event will begin on Wednesday September 9th.

The event ends on Wednesday September 23rd.

No one ever seems to get a break, do they? On Halloween, every child's favorite holiday, everyone will lose something important to them, all of which have been chosen (by popular demand) by yours truly. Missing items will have to be found or regained in time, for some characters will be losing physical objects, while others may lose certain abilities, senses etc. Some of said lost objects below are very obscure, but it will be up to you to figure out how said item will be reattained. Those who have not introduced their original characters as of yet will not be included in the event unless asked otherwise. Happy Halloween!

Considering the last event didn't go over so well due to our ever-so-busy lives, the previous event was briefly touched upon. Rather than indulging into it entirely now that it's December (and it was to occur in October / November), we'll sort of spin the last event into this one. If the item your character loses is something you really want to incorporate into the roleplay but you never had time to do so, you can until the end of the fourth event. If not, then that's fine as well.

I'm sure you all know how Secret Santa works. Everyone draws names from a hat, and the name you draw is who you have to buy a Christmas gift for, though it has to remain a secret until the day of git exchange. The following list who exactly is buying a gift for another. If there are any questions, complications or confusions, throw it out into the out of character thread, PM, whatever. Considering the roleplay has filled in so nicely with so many characters, a post based on the relationships between the characters and how we've developed them, and requested by Prometheus Unbound! If you're lost with what's going on concerning the relationships (obviously), you can check here. I will update it as often as I see fit / upon request. Don't like what's going on? Take it up with the handlers of the particular characters. Not even part of the thread and don't like it, then why are you still here? Kidding! ...Sort of.

So here is how this will work. Rather than having a ton of arrows around a map that I would need to constantly edit elsewhere, I'm going to post a list of names under a few subtitles. One of three symbols (✖, ★, ✿, ♥) will be set beneath the corresponding subtitle along with on of three arrows; mutual relationship (↔) or one-sided (← / →). Anything striked out is due to the character not actually being involved in the roleplay as of yet, or the character is confused by those feelings. Confused? Don't worry, you'll get it by just looking below!

In order for me to post your pairing up in the post, please send me the information, or at least how your character feels on their side of the relationship. The other half will be filled by the other person. Fair enough? Sweet! Now take a look!

The entire manor was on its ear. Servants were running about all over the place, carrying giant silver trays or thick piles of cloth, all sharing the same air of panic as they ran into each other, stringing curse words in rapid French. The mansion had gone through that was nothing short of a miraculous makeover in two days. Not that it had been in bad shape before, mind you. It had just needed a little facelift is all. Oh well. It didn't matter. The place was perfect now.

The owner of the manor, and the actual man of the hour, so to speak, was actually doing nothing to help his frenzied employees. Said blond could be found running like a madmad through his house, freaking out over every little detail that was out of place. His normally sleek blond hair almost stood on end from him running his hands through it, goatee scruffier-looking than usual below wide, stressed blue eyes. They only had an hour before people were gonna be there, and there was still so much left to do! What in God's name was he going to do!?
