Aoi and Tempest
The Dark Nation
After the defeat of the Dark Nation, Aoi landed on the boat, the edges of her glider burned a little, but she was still able to fly. She promptly said her goodbyes and then she headed back to the Southern Air Temple where Tempest was waiting for her. She'd had to leave her shirshu behind, and now she was glad she had. The memory of Kaishu first giving Tempest to her left her feeling a little hollow. She didn't miss Kaishu, not in the least now, but he had been a father to her, and now she was somewhat of a lost soul.
Aoi spent her years in the Southern Air Temple. She gleaned knowledge from the air temple nomads that traveled around the world and brought tales of the outside world back. She never once went to visit Sying, Raiden, Emiko, Zhu, Kyosuke, or Kyoko because for all they knew, she had died after the battle somewhere far off. And she never heard about Saiben anymore. She was saddened when news of the Avatar's death spread throughout the four nations. She didn't know if Sying remembered her, but Aoi would always remember her airbending student. A vase filled with three flowers was always found in Aoi's room: the White Lotus of the Air Nomads, the Moon Flower from the Earth Kingdom, a Fire Lily from the Fire Nation, and of course, all three were kept in clean water. This was Aoi's own way of remembering the Avatar who had been born into the cycle by Water.
Many years later, she could be found walking the Southern Air Temple in the orange and yellow robes of the monks and nuns, a pendant around her neck, and the tatoos of a fully realized airbender marked on her arms and legs.
She lived to be over a hundred years old, although still very energetic in her late years. She was later killed in the Fire Nation raids, dying in the temple she'd been raised at.
