Welcome to Gaia! ::

Nacogdoches.

Some lame little town, far away in the middle of nowhere. Its center is a small college with a lame name to match the town. Nacogdoches is nowhere near Austin, believe me. Anyway. Lots of trees. Lots of dirt. College students, frat parties, late nights... such as the life of a college student.

It's not raining today.
Although it will supposedly rain all day tomorrow, with no clouds, according to Faye's "Dashboard" application on her MacBook Pro, since all it shows is... rain.

As San types away intently on her mysterious laptop, Faye is desperately in search of a job. Over the past couple of weeks she has re-visited and spoken with the manager at the Sudobucks across the street multiple times... Only after the third time did she realize that she should apply at other places as well.

While these two relatively boring and poor college students continue living a so-called "lame" life, in the Feudal Era an evil demon, who has chosen to name himself Naraku, is trying to... well, basically rule the "world" (mainly just Japan).

As he is attempting to do this, Inuyasha the hanyou, Shippou the young fox demon, and Miroku the monk, are trying to defeat him and rescue Kagome, their time-traveling miko, from his captivity.
San rolls her eyes at Faye's attempts to get a job; they now know Faye at Sudobucks by name, which she finds highly amusing. She thinks that it's nice that Faye is going to get a job, although it proves entertainment for her.

San still argues against the rain, and doesn't care at all about the Feudal Era in Japan, or its monsters. In fact, she thinks they're mostly irritating. Faye though, has some weird obsession...
Cold and wet, Faye approaches her dorm, where San is most probably sitting at the computer on Skype with her family.

As Faye trudges up the stairs to the third floor, trying to remember every detail of that orchestra concert so she can write her report, the storm outside continues to build. The lights down the narrow hallway [where her room is] flicker slightly, and a loud thunder rumbles. Faye, startled, runs to her room and bursts in. San glances back at her from her computer, then returns to her phone call.

Opening her MacBook Pro, Faye opens up Pages and begins with her heading for her concert report. As she reaches into her memory to write about the crazy, passionate violinist... And is about halfway done with her concert report, the power goes out, and her work is lost.

After a moment of silence and grief (from Faye), a static-like noise is heard from San's laptop. Faye turns to ask her what it is, only to find that San is not there. "San...?" Faye slowly walks over to her roommate's bed, only to not find her. She glances around the room, "San? Are you there?" She opens her closet door, and looks under the beds. "This isn't funny."

Coming to the realization that San is no where to be found in the room, Faye goes back to her desk and sits in her blue chair, in the dark, in shock. Unknown to her, San is at this very moment in the Feudal Era.
"What... the hell...?" San muttered, looking around. Her first thought was, crap, I'm still on Skype with my parents. They'll kill me. before she realized that she wasn't even anywhere near Nacogdoches. Being outside... and dark... lots of trees... but not pine trees. Like a... "Forest?" she muttered, scratching her head. This had to be a dream. "Faye?" she called out. "Anyone? This is so weird..."
After a few minutes of just sitting and staring in the dark, Faye, dazed, turned her head toward San's bed again, and stared at the laptop sitting at the end of it. The screen was blue, adding a strange glow to the room.

Faye stared at the computer, as if waiting for it to produce some sort of miracle, such as bringing San back. Slowly, she got up from her desk chair and walked toward it. She leaned over the bed and stared at the glowing screen. After a few moments it began to hurt her eyes, and she squinted at it, then turned away.

"Where is San..." she wondered. She turned back toward the strange laptop. It began to create that same static-like sound again. "Huh...?" She leaned toward the computer more, her right ear more toward it, trying to figure out the sound.

The sound grew louder, and gradually became that obnoxious ringing sound that you hear sometimes when no one else does. Faye pulled back a bit, and then glared at the computer. "Shut up already." The ringing grew louder, and she put her hands over her ears, and told the computer to shut up again.

Suddenly, there was a bright flash. Faye would later blame the computer for this as well.
She sighed, looking around now. "Irritating. This is really, really irritating. Hello!? Is anyone there?" she called out, running her hands through her hair and pulling a strand down to play with it. She continued to walk around, but there was only forest surrounding her.

Glaring, she tromped farther again, looking up at the sky. "What the...!" she muttered, seeing billions of stars. "Okay, I totally cannot be anywhere near Nacogdoches. Maybe I'm a bit farther, but these kind of stars, you don't see out by the cities..." She sighed and walked again, still trying to find her way.

Meanwhile, Faye was suddenly transported into the middle of a village. Luckily, no one was awake (they probably would have considered her a witch). It was absolutely silent around her, and eerily dark as well. There were no lights; only a few houses down was there a small light shining through the tatami mat window. Next to her, horses breathed heavily and chickens flapped around. For the most part, though, the village seemed to be sleeping.
Eyes wide, Faye, glanced around frantically, trying to comprehend what just happened. "A light... and then... I'm here... Somewhere..." As she speaks to herself, she uses large gestures in order to help herself understand what happened.

A rustling is heard from somewhere nearby, and Faye freezes. She listens closely, and for a moment there is just silence, with the exception of crickets chirping.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Faye looked up at the stars. She was amazed to see that there were so many. She begins to walk backwards while still looking up at the stars, and then looks around her, taking in her surroundings.

There are small "houses" around, although more like huts. The doorways are just tatami mats, and one hut has a small light shining through. Faye walks toward it curiously, but as she eases toward it, she hears something behind her, and then yelps quite loudly. She immediately covers her mouth with her right hand, and is frozen for a moment, and then runs in the opposite direction, past the chickens and horses, startling them [slightly].
A young fox demon's blinked open his eyes, yawning loudly. "Why are there such loud noises...?" he muttered, standing up and swaying slightly before running out of the hut and looking around. He went outside just in time to see a girl with funny clothes run past the hut. "Wha?"

He rubbed his eyes and then chased after her on all fours, trying to catch up. "Hey! Wait! Where are you going?!" he called out to her.

San finally laid down on the grass, glaring at the sky. "I give up. Okay? I give up. Please send me back now. You know what? I have a History exam on Thursday, and this is really going to ruin my plans for reading. Not that I wanted to, but still. It was something to complain about." she said to no one, then rolled over onto her stomach and stared at the grass. "Stupid."
Faye glanced back, only to see a small child, that looked similar to a fox, chasing her. "What the--?!" As she stared back at him in shock, calling after her, she stumbled and fell off the trail, rolling on the grass and landing in the river.

Meanwhile, a young monk was walking in a forest not too far from the village where Faye was [drowning(not really)]. There was a solemnity to his expression as he recalled the past. His thoughts were interrupted by a young girl's voice.

"I give up..." There was a sense of irritation yet surrender in the girl's voice. He listened and followed it, approaching where San was laying in the grass. She continued to speak as he followed the voice. When the monk was close to where San was, he looked through the trees, watching her. "Stupid."

For a moment he just watched her in curiosity. Her clothes... Remind me somewhat of Kagome-sama's... he thought to himself. The monk stepped out from trees and approached San.
The kitsune watched the girl fall into the river with somewhat of a horrified expression. "Whoa, she must be really clumsy. What a klutz!" he said loudly, following her up to the riverbank. "Hey, are you okay? That was kind of a weird trick..." he said to her, walking on two legs now and then crouching a few yards away from her. "You're sort of weird-looking, you know? Your clothes. So I was just wondering, and all..." he trailed off, looking at her somewhat skeptically now.

San picked a weedy flower and played with it for a moment before standing up again and walking off.
Soaking wet, with her hair sticking to her face, Faye stared at the kitsune with an annoyed expression. "My clothes aren't weird." She stood up in the water, and then lost her balance for a moment, but quickly regained it. Faye glared down at the kitsune, "And you shouldn't call people you don't know klutzes." She marched out of the water and walked up the grassy area up to the trail. Wringing out her hair with her hands, she turned and looked at the kitsune, who still looking at her oddly, "You're the one who is weird. Not me." And then stubbornly walked off.

As San began to walk away, the monk had to wonder if she was deaf, or just completely out of it, since she didn't see nor hear him come. He began to walk quickly after her, "Excuse me!" He called out. "Miss! You really should not be walking about so late at night, especially by yourself." The monk was genuinely concerned for San's safety, and continued after her.
The kitsune watched her leave and then promptly followed after her at her heels. "Hey, you know, you aren't very polite. Sorry for calling you klutzy, but you also just ran away from me like somethin' was wrong. So I didn't know. And then you fell. It was sort of funny..." he mumbled the last part, looking away and then running on all fours to catch up to her again because his pace had slowed. "Uhh, but your clothes are kind of funny looking. Are you new here?"

San blinked and turned around, seeing a weird man. "Yeah? I think I'd rather be by myself than with a stranger, so... thanks, but I'm going to go this way." She pointed in the other direction, smiling slightly, before continuing to walk that way.
Faye stopped suddenly, then turned to face the kitsune. Suddenly, she realized just how odd it was looking down at a little... well, someone who looked like a child, and yelling at them. And then.. She began to miss Kumon, the learning center she used to work at.

"Fine, I'm sorry." She said, sighing, and then knelt down so she was more level with him, since she felt weird talking to the kitsune with such a difference in height. Faye looked to the side, staring at the river and past it, "I just don't know where I am, or exactly how I got here."

"Wait!" The monk called out after San. "At least go to the village and sleep there." He saw the skeptical look she gave him. "You can stay with Kaede-sama. I suppose you could say she's the miko of the village..." The monk trailed off for a moment, then looked at her again, hoping that she would at least go to the village [with him].
He looked at her and then smiled a bit, holding out his hand. "Well, I can tell you where you are. You're just outside of Kaede's village; I'm Shippou. It's nice to meet you." he said, watching her curiously. "I met a girl who dressed weird like you, so maybe.. but that's kind of strange, to be able to meet two of the same people?.." he trailed off, watching her.

San arched a brow at the word "miko". "Miko? Of the village? I think I'll be okay. I'm pretty used to walking around by myself, anyway. Thanks again, though."
