A map of the twenty-three wards of Tokyo. The Sohma estate, Kotou Gakkou High School, and the Ueno Shopping District are all located in the Asakusa district of the Taito ward, where many temples and old-fashioned buildings owned by wealthy and prestigious families are located.

Ueno Shopping District is one of the main pulls of Taito. It's full of various stores, restaurants, and cafes as well as one of the public transport hubs of the ward, so if a wider selection is necessary, other parts of Tokyo can be easily reached. One of the more popular stores is Matsuzakaya, a large department store where most needs are met.

Kotou Gakkou high school is a private high school, and has been around for as long as anyone can remember. The Sohma family has always attended, and is one of the school's patrons. This allows them to have a say over school matters, and handle any situations that occur.

The main entrance to the Sohma estate. This is the only thing that passerby citizens are able to see. It is located on a quiet street with a large temple located at the end, and directly across from the Yasufusa Jingu, the shrine the Sohma family has maintained for generations. Because of this, the street can become quite crowded on festivals.

A shrine that has been in the same place since the Meiji era. It is dedicated to Amatsu-Mikaboshi, the Shinto god of the stars. While many Sohma members can be seen tending the shrine, there is a priest who oversees everything and performs blessings. The priest lives at the Sohma estate in the servants' quarters, and is one of the few outsiders who know of the family's curse.

Past the main gates is the main Sohma estate, where every member of the zodiac has a room, even if they live somewhere else. There are also places for those who work on the estate to live in small cabins behind the main building. It has not lost its traditional roots, as the estate has been around since at least the Edo Period. However, despite its traditional exterior, the interior is more modern and westernized, which points to the family's wealth.

A long running tradition of the Sohma family has been to isolate the cat during the New Year's celebration so they may not participate. When the cat comes of age at twenty years old, they are thrown into the room and never allowed to leave or see the sun. The current Jade Emperor is more benevolent than his forefathers, and has disbanded this practice. The cat's room now stands as a makeshift shrine on the estate.

A special tree to the Sohma family situated in the back gardens in front of the servants' quarters. It was given to the family as a gift when they first settled into their estate, and a legend has sprouted from it since that time. They say that if the tree dies, devastation shall befall the family, so great care and reverence has been taken with it ever since.

This is where the employees of the Sohma family live. It is more modern than the surrounding buildings in the exterior, and houses a separate kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry rooms for the servants' needs. This is where the uncursed family members who choose to work for the family and the secret keeper stay.

In the back of the estate lays a walkway that leads to the traditional zodiac banquet room. This area is zodiac members only, and far from the curious eyes of outsiders. While the banquet hall and walkway are only really in use during the New Year, zodiac members have permission to enter the premises whenever they want. Every New Year, all of the zodiac are brought together to decorate for the celebration.

This is a casual lit rp, meaning that I only really want to see about 500 words, but nothing below it. Writer's block does happen, but the best way to work it out is to write through it, and if you can't meet the minimum limit, then do not join. More is strongly, strongly encouraged, but don't make it so thick people grow tired reading it. Be advised that just because you can post gigantic amounts of text doesn't mean everyone wants to match that, so you might get back something much smaller. If you cannot move the story along yourself, then do not join. It's a real strain trying to bend things because someone isn't moving, and if you keep it that way after three posts, you will be asked to edit it or leave. You have five days to post. If you do not, I will send you a message reminding you to do so. If you do not post two days after that, then I will send you a message informing you that your position has been opened to others. It is your decision whether or not you want to stay, and if you're not feeling the role play anymore, please let me know. I promise you can go scotch free.

I understand that there are only so many personality traits out there, but if every single character is quiet or headstrong, it gets boring very quickly. ██xZODIAC CHARACTER NOTES

The Jade Emperor is an open character in this thread, but I expect them to act as a guide. I highly encourage anyone trying out for the role to take this into serious consideration when applying, as I want some originality and not another Akito with a different name or gender. The dragon is the memory eraser, and there will be no doctor catering to the Sohma family only. That being said, if you want your character to be a doctor, by all means do so, but make sure your character either runs their own practice or works in a hospital where they can serve members of the general public. Please use real pictures for the zodiac animals with matching hair colors; something is bound to show up if you simply type in something like "pink horse." If it does not, please send me a message and I'll see what I can do, but there are some colors that are difficult to track down, and if I can't find or make something, then I'm going to have to ask you to change your character. Please please please have at least one good trait and one bad trait associated with your zodiac position if you are taking a cursed individual. Here is a link you can use. Outsiders and the cat have more freedom, obviously.

There once was a clan who was cursed. Fourteen unlucky members of this clan, the Sohma, were the bearers of this curse, in which they harbored the spirits of the zodiac in them. Thirteen of them transformed into the animals of the lunar zodiac legend, and were bound to the embodiment of the Jade Emperor. These unlucky Sohma members were born two months premature, and transform into their animal when they are hugged by a person of the opposite gender, under great deals of stress, or become ill, and are said to live under a great deal of sorrow. However, there is a rumor in the family that one generation of Sohma was able to break free of this curse, and live their lives without it. Unfortunately, this story was never proven true, though the cursed members frequently cling to it in hopes that their curse will be lifted.

The current generation of the Sohma family are once again isolated from the world, and fourteen members are again cursed. They live on or around their family estate, located in the Asakusa district of Tokyo next to the temple the family has been in charge of for as long as anyone can remember. Certain members of the family still hold positions in the shrine, from general upkeep to setting up events. Few people outside of the zodiac know of the curse, but those who do either work for the family or are direct family members of the zodiac. However, one unlucky outsider has found out about this curse through a series of unfortunate events, and their life is about to turn upside down.

Forced to live on the estate after seeing the (sheep/ram) transform, this outsider has been told that they are not allowed to go anywhere without an escort of someone who knows of the curse. Some members of the zodiac feel that this is unjust punishment for a mistake, while others support the Jade Emperor’s decision on the matter. Still, there is a new hope around the estate that this unfortunate secret keeper might be the one to find a way to reenact that legend, break the curse, and give the family their freedom. This is, of course, if the curse isn't let out to more outsiders. The family must once again band together to keep their heads afloat and the family curse a secret, or everything could fall into ruins.
