VINCENTBARRIS
Professor Keahi was an almost unbearably warm, glowing sort of person. In some people, that kind of happy, sweet energy could just be the most annoying damn thing. Like those types who are eternally happy and outgoing and constantly smiling. They were the sort that everyone was kind to, but only because they didn't have a viable excuse to punch them in the face like everyone secretly wanted to. But Keahi seemed to have a good balance of it. He certainly had that warm, good-vibes energy, but he wasn't the goofy grinning buffoon that everyone wanted an excuse to deck. From what Vincent could gather, he was more like the laid-back, easygoing type. Even his voice was slow and warm, like honey or some other sickly sweet warm substance. The words that that voice carried further confirmed his suspicions.
"Keahi's fine, man. I'm just a guest lecturer for this semester, so no need to, like, stand on ceremony. What can I help you with, dude?"
Dude? Dude? Did he seriously just call him dude? Who said that anymore? But aside from that, the fact that he dismissed the title of 'professor' said something. People really had to work for those titles, even temporary lecturers. Typically, people were quite clingy with said titles. After all, they'd worked for them. Strange was an understatement for this guy. But despite all of his odd habits and quirks, something about the man drew Vincent in. The longer he was close to him, talking to him, the more and more puzzling it became, as if the answer grew further away rather than closer. In short, Keahi raised more questions than answers.
Vincent tried to figure out exactly what the odd lecturer was thinking, but aside from his confused expression his student could gather no further information on it. He just seemed genuinely frazzled at the idea that he was familiar to his student. Vincent felt heat creep up and build underneath his collar, which he had the sudden urge to tug at, but resisted. He felt itchy all over, fidgety and uncomfortable. My, how much easier life would have been if he'd just ignored that vexing sensation. Maybe it was the constant stench of incense that seemed to cling to his professors clothes continually that were messing up his head. It was plausible, albeit far-fetched. Vincent didn't have much time to ponder it, as his teacher unexpectedly came up with an answer to Vinny's pointless question.
"Ha-ha! Hey, yeah, you're right! You live in my neighbourhood. That must be it."
Vinny blinked his wide eyes in surprise behind his thick rimmed glasses. Their neighborhood? Seriously? Vincent didn't have any idea that such was the case. Truth be told, despite the familiarity that he felt, he was quite sure that he'd never met nor seen this Keahi fellow before in his life. Asking if he knew him had been nothing more than a ploy to start up a conversation. So, naturally, this answer was startling.
"O-oh! Really? Is that it?" Too bad Tobi wasn't around. He would recognize anyone who lived within five miles of their house. "Wow, I never even knew. Small world, huh?" He laughed nervously, and immediately regretted it, hearing his own shrill voice in the air made him want to give himself a wedgie. Vincent tried to gather himself and say something intelligible. Hell, talking about the weather, even, if it would make him seem like less of an idiot. He watched Keahi tending to a giant furball in the shape of a rabbit, mildly surprised that it was there, since he's zoned out during the lecture. But he made sure not to have that ridiculous glazed look when Keahi spoke again, though his words were as startling as before.
"Since we're both headed that way, want to catch the bus with me? It'll save me waiting all by myself."
Well that wasn't weird. Didn't teachers normally try and avoid students outside of school? It was suspicious to see a teacher and a student out in each other's company, for various reasons. Sure he wasn't a minor or anything, but there were certain things which could land not only Keahi in trouble, but himself as well. Maybe he was new at this whole 'school' scene, and didn't know the social taboos. Or maybe he knew, but was too aloof to care. Before Vincent realized that his lips were moving he'd already blurted out,
"Sure. That sounds great, actually. My ride tends to take off without me." And beyond that, Vincent couldn't really do anything but smile. "Let's go." He turned quickly on his heel and started towards the door, trying to make himself stop blushing, despite knowing that it wasn't a manual reaction. Tobi was sure to freak out.
[[ooc - I am SO SORRRY!!! DDDx I'm not used to rps moving this fast, but that can't excuse my laziness. u_u; I'll do better in the future. I'm working on Ato next, but he'll probably take a while, since I have to read and catch up on what the rest of the pack is doing. Unless someone wants to pm me a recap. ;'D]]
