"Well, the last 'Lycan' I knew was not too keen about being one. That is why I figured you were not as happy about it as you are." Erkamina said as she fiddled with her wand again as she remembered her past, the past she shared with few and felt nervous even doing so now. The howl would chill normal people to the bones but she wasn't normal by any means. Instead she joined Thaine in his vocal worship of the moon with a roar from her dragonic side. The roar from her normal lips sounded childish and forced but the real deal would sound much more threatening and dark. She sighed as clouds passed over the moon, destroying her revelry for a moment. The clouds cleared a few moments later and she let out a yawn, observing the moon's position and making a grumbling growl.
"I have to go, it's getting late and I'd rather not be too terribly cranky in the morning. Good luck, Thaine." With this she exited much the same way she had came and disappeared from his line of sight but not from his heightened smell. She had far too much experience with Warewolves to trust that this transformation would be as clear cut as the man may hope. Of course he may be a recent turn but it becomes more difficult as time goes on to distinguish from the beast and the man. Eventually the two become blurred together completely, the man becoming unruly and unpredictable like the beast that he becomes. But even after as long as she'd known the first Warewolf he wasn't like that. He'd never became a mirror of the beast. Or at least not as she had seen.
"I'm the last one left from those days. Even the rat was killed... I never did like him. He was always sneaking in and out of sight. I heard some pretty nasty things about him leading up to the last war. So I'm the last because of sweet Dumbledore's protection. If not for him I'd have fallen as they did, as the Heros did at the very least. Typical Gryffindors to the end they were. All brave and true. Except the rat, he was too scared to do anything of any good to anyone but himself. He was more like a Slytherin than even I or his 'master' ever were." She thought silently as she returned to the grounds, the soft moonlight showing exactly how much time she had until sunrise and moonrise, the rise of the Warewolf came with the rise of the moon. She sighed and entered the building, finding it devoid of life except for a few ghosts and a couple patrolling professors. She growled and trudged down to the dungeons to catch what little sleep the remaining night would offer but worry would steal any chance of it being restful.
"Damned past and its memories. What good are they now that I am so far gone from what I used to be. Sure, I play like I'm the same as I was but who am I kidding? I'll never be what I was before, never. Even those that don't know me know that I'm just bidding my time. They don't know what lies beneath the underneath. Behind the mask that hides my face is another mask of anger. Beyond that is the true truth, the true face. Even now I will never forgive them... The servants to Voldemort, for what they did." She entered her office and saw a small frame holding a picture of her child self with her parents. It wasn't enchanted to have them wave or move, just a regular Muggle picture. She sighed as she traced the picture with a finger and stared at it, all her tears long gone as those that inhabited the frame were. She sighed and sat the frame back down. A small hoot from Aku-Hane came and she sighed, staring at the bird for his knowing.
"I am not sad, just remembering. What use is there in being sad now. It's been so long... The wounds just keep reopening. Every time I get close to anyone it ends the same way. They all got killed, every one of them. My family, my classmates, my friends. All gone in a poof, literally. The last piece cannot stand alone on a full field of opposing Chess pieces. Something's got to give eventually." She let out a heaving sigh and collapsed onto her desk, her head in her arms. A soft sound came out of her sounding like a purr but it was the sound of her snores.
~
Sometime later she woke to find her head sore from the desk, her neck sore from leaning over on her arms, and her arms fast asleep.
"Damn, I never wanted to sleep in here. Ah well, I can sleep anytime... It's time to get a letter sent anyway. Come Aku-Hane." She tapped the perch for the bird to wake and climb onto her arm. She opened her office door and walked out into the hallway. She then traveled up the stairs to the Owlery, picking up a spare piece of parchment within and scratching a quick note. She didn't really think about what she was sending but it was a quick recommendation to the Ministry of Magic in hopes that they would be in this late. She opened the window to see the light pinks of early morning arising with the sun. Correction, this early...
"Wow, I slept that long... I must have been tired." She sighed as she tapped her wand on the letter, sealing it to prying eyes.
"To the Minister of Magic." She then tied the letter around her owls ankle and sent it off into the rising sun, hoping her letter would mean something to the one who read it.
"Dear Minister of Magic,
I had the opportunity to meet a fascinating gentleman that states that he hopes to become the Defense against the Dark Arts Professor this year. However, there are two problems with this. The first being that classes begin very soon and the second being known by the Ministry quite well to be a rather off-putting problem. If I do remember correctly this 'problem' can be rectified on a temporary basis via certain potions which I can make on a monthly basis. I can personally ensure all students will be kept safe even with the use of such potions because even if he promises not to be a threat he cannot fully control his nature while in such a state. With that said, I would like to personally vouch for him and his behavior. If he becomes unruly I will see to it that it is controlled, if only given the chance. And I want a full list of all students attending this year with emphasis on ones with known Animagi transformations as well as former students up to ten years ago. I have an investigation of my own to pursue.
