I'm the spider, you're the fly...

The Pessimistic Optimist

Lilith waved away some of the dust as she tried to get most of it off. Hopefully that wouldn't happen again when a real customer had to come. What if they had allergies? She'd really feel bad if they had asthma and had a coughing attack. She'd have to tell Tadashi to help her beat it with a broom or something later. She gently smoothed out the material and waited for Tadashi to finish undressing.

As she stood back up, something caught her eye. Various scars were along this boy's body, and a rather familar mark was along his midrift. The girl's usually sparkling eyes narrowed a bit, remembering seeing a marking like that somewhere. Yes... She had seen it in a book. It was a sealing jutsu, and a very powerful one at that. But what was being sealed away? What was Tadashi hiding?

Her eyes quickly returned to their normal glistening as she blinked them. It wasn't her place to ask about it, but a gut feeling she had told her that she would learn it's truth sooner or later. She knew there was something dangerous about it, something that just hadn't quite clicked yet.

Once Tadashi plopped down onto the table, and the dust had poofed up, Lilith gently waved her hand with a few soft coughs from it. It seemed that there was still some dirt within the cushion. Tadashi didn't seem to mind though. Then again, just about nothing bothered him. With a quick shake of her head though, she straightened herself up and put her soft warm hands on his bare shoulders. She gently began to hum as her spiders descended to the floor, done with their little project.

Two of her tentacles were arcs with long threads of silk between them. It looked so much like a harp. Since Lilith couldn't carry one around, this was an easier solution, and it sounded much better to the ear. A lot softer, and at a lower relaxing tone. There were even some people that said harp music was therapudic and helped people heal faster.

Lilith's fingers on her right hand began to slowly run down Tadashi's back as she hummed. They trailed down until they reached just above the belt line, when the music started to play. Two more of her tentacles flowed from her back and began to pluck at the makeshift strings of her hand, or rather 'leg', weaved harp. Her hand raised itself as her pointer and middle finger formed 'legs' and began to 'skip' along Tadashi's back with every note that seemed to stand out in it's proper beat. As it got to the middle, her left pointer finger began to draw intricate swirls and spirals down and across to meet her other hand. It was almost as if she were going to pluck each fiber of muscle like the very strings that she was using to produce the wonderous sound. Once both her hands had met the rest of her fingertips rested against his skin and began to rub against it, gently massaging the upper tissues as she hummed along with the song. It didn't take long for her to move on to the deeper muscles, her thumbs beginning to caress his back in little circles as the rest of her fingers and palms did as they were supposed to, reach every muscle and loosen them. She wasn't really sure how long it would take for Tadashi himself to relax, but she could feel his muscles unknotting beneath her hands. When he said that he had never had one, he wasn't joking.
"Poor boy.. he must be so uncomfortable and not even know it.. That or he just hides it very well.. Hopefully this will make him feel better."
She placed the bottom of her palm against the center of his upper belt line. This was the part that usually relaxed people, or made them pass out. She really should warn them, but then they would just tense up if she told them that it would hurt. She continued to hum, pretending to pause, before she thrust her lower palm up along his spine in a quick motion. If she did it right, and he was fully relaxed, his spine would 'crack' and release that sudden feeling of overall comfort. Needless to say, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to do this wrong.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." ~ Winston Churchill

Tadashi noticed the look in her eyes when she looked at him. He'd gotten that look on a few occasions. It meant she noticed the seal, not that it was hard to see or anything, the damned thing stands out to say the least. He was curious if she knew what it was and what it meant as far as what Tadashi was. After debating with himself for several minutes he decided that he could trust Lilith with the information. It wasn't really a question of trust, he knew she would keep his secret. In all the main reason he didn't tell people was for their safety not his.

Knowing that someone is a jinchuriki can be very dangerous at times, especially if someone like Pein ever found out about it. In the end it came down the fact that Tadashi knew he could trust her and that she could take care of herself. Not to mention, if he had anything to do with it he'd be there to protect her. That got him thinking about the future. Originally he planned on staying for a few weeks and leaving. Now, he was thinking about making it a permanent thing. Well atleast his home until something happened or he was needed else where.

Tadashi's thoughts continued to wander as Lilith started massaging his back. He was oblivious to everything around him, except for her of course. He couldn't help but drool a bit, it felt absolutely amazing. Lilith had magic fingers and the music was so relaxing. He could pass out now and sleep for weeks with as relaxed as he was now. He just smiled and let out a relaxing sigh, "That feels amazing!" He laughed a bit, "You've got me drooling." Cause that's exactly what you should say to a woman to charm her, right?

When Tadashi's back suddenly 'cracked' his eyes would open wide for a second. The sudden cracking sounds surprised him. He expected to feel a surge of overwhelming pain, but what he did feel was far from painful. It was actually very relaxing, soothing, and just amazing. "Oh wow...yeah that hit the spot." He had this goofy relaxed grin on his face. He was in heaven to say the least, "The music you play and sing is beautiful Lilith. And might I add, you have magic fingers!" He nodded in agreement with himself.

Lilith smiled down at Tadashi as she continued to massage his back. She was glad she could make his back feel better. She couldn't help but giggle at his statment though, it was quite amusing.
"Well I'm happy I can make you that relaxed. It really depends on the girl, some of them might slap you for saying something like that."
She chuckled a bit more continueing to massage his back. She would never do that. She couldn't really remember the last time she slapped a person. She never really minded if guys were perverted, it was just if they cheated on girls that she would get involved. Then again, there was always a reason for everything. It was best to hear all sides of a story before punishing someone.

Lilith stared down at Tadashi, noticing that he hadn't fallen asleep after the cracking. She was sure that he would pass out. But he hadn't.
"Well thank you Mizuiro-san~! You've really quite suprised me, normally people pass out by now, but here you are awake and holding a conversation. I guess your body, or rather your stomach, knows what I'm going to do after I finish relaxing your back muscles. I suppose now you're going to have a lot of 'muscle aches' in need of my 'magic fingers' right?"
She laughed softly as she continued to rub the two sides of his back simultaniously. She was merely joking that he would fake pains to get another free massage. His stomach must of sensed that she was going to be working on sweets after she had put him to sleep. Now her plan was ruined, and a certain someone would be snacking and giving her that cute face to get what he wanted. She'd need to think of something else to distract him while she was in the kitchen. But what meaningless task could she get him to do? Perhaps she could get him to help but keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't snack on something.

After a few more moments of rubbing his back she took her hands from his skin and stood up straight.
"All done now. Now it's time for me to start working on my thank you presents. I hppe you can still walk. Some people's legs feel like jelly so I let them rest for a bit longer on the table before they leave."
Her tentacles went down and she unrolled her sleeves, dusting herself off as she walked among the shelves and jars of random objects and ingredients. She turned to look at Tadashi, knowing his curiosity would probably be getting the best of him.
"If you'd like to ask anything or know what's in these jars, be sure to do so."

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." ~ Winston Churchill

Poor little Tadashi was oblivious to the fact that sometimes the things he says can be taken the wrong way. Now, it's not like he's naive or anything. But with Tadashi things are just different. Hell looking at him should be enough to help someone notice he's different. He just don't think like most guys, when Tadashi looks at a woman he looks into her eyes before anywhere else. He talks with him and actually pays attention to what they are saying. His father raised him to be a gentleman. To protect those who can't protect themselves, to fight for his life and those he cared about, and to never allow himself to be captured or used for evil purposes.

So when she said some girls might slap him for saying that, he would suddenly look very confused. He had to think about it for several minutes before it finally hit him. Oooooooh, he thought, but I didn't mean it in a bad way. I better tell her that... Tadashi nodded in agreement his decision, "Lilith I swear I meant no offense by what I said. It wasn't meant to be preverted. You really are making me drool...." He rubbed the back of his head, "I'm pretty sure you knew what I meant by that but I just wanted to assure you of my intentions. I could never forgive myself for offending you."

He then fell silent as she continued to massage his back. He was thankful that she hadn't slapped him. He'd been slapped a few times over the years, usually by mothers who had caught Tadashi flying their children around the village. Apparently in Iwagakure being able to fly was just way to weird and dangerous according to some of the more strict parents. Tadashi's thoughts were interrupted when Lilith cracked his back. He spoke, her response that followed surprised him. She was surprised he hadn't passed out. Did she want me to pass out....nah, most people are probably just so relaxed that they fall asleep. Yeah, that had to be it....poor innocent Tadashi. Little did he know Lilith's desire was to make candy while he was sleeping.

At first he didn't reply, he kind've got lost in thought trying to figure out what his stomach had to do with what she was doing after the massage. He did chuckle when she mentioned he was going to start having convenient muscle aches to get free massages. It gave him a idea, though he wouldn't do such a thing. Atleast not any time soon that is. His thoughts wandering once more. Before he knew it she was done. Tadashi smiled and stretched a bit, "That was amazing!" He slid off the table and tried to stand up. Yeah that didn't work out to well. He took a few steps, heading towards Lilith.

His legs went all wobbly. "Huh, that's a interesting sensation." He'd take a few more steps before falling over. He started laughing as he laid there. After a few minutes he'd sit up, his legs crossed indian-style. He'd yet to put his shirt back on, so his seal was still visible. "That was fun, never done that before." He chuckled a bit, "Actually I do have several questions. You said that my stomach must've known what you were doing next. Then you mentioned making thank you presents. Lilith if you give food as gifts, with the amazing food you make, I think you may be the girl for me!"

He paused for a moment, realising he'd just basically said I like you because you're a great cook, so he quickly added, "That certainly isn't the only reason of course." He rubbed the back of his head with his right hand, blushing ever so slightly. Don't blush don't blush don't blush, kept running through his head. He suddenly realised what he'd actually said, now all he could do was hope he hadn't made Lilith feel uncomfortable.

Lilith couldn't help but chuckle as she listened to him try to justify himself. He was just so innocent. She knew he had meant well.
"Don't worry, I havn't slapped someone in ages. And last time I did it wasn't a boy that I slapped."

She stepped away so Tadashi could get off the table, but as she watched him wobble and then tip over, she needed to let out a small chuckle. The little plop on the floor was quite amusing.
"That happens sometimes, but people are usually so relaxed that they don't care."
She put her hands together in front of her and stood properly awaiting for the questions to begin. But as he continued to speak, she didn't catch wind of any questions, merely statements that he was making. But the last few words stuck out more than the others.
...the girl for me
It wasn't just that he had found out what she was going to be doing, but that he had said that. It was enough to make a girl blush, but Lilith didn't. Not even after the second statement, which ironicly was supposed to fix all this. Her face looked taken aback for a second or two, but her lips quickly curled back into a smile. A small snickering followed by laughter escaped from her throat. There was no particular reason to laugh, she just was. It wasn't that she was stupid or dense, she was most likely just avoiding the inevitable. She had told herself that she wasn't meant for love, but being as hopeless a romantic as she was, she knew she couldn't run from it forever. She never ran from anything, but that didn't mean she wouldn't try.

She sighed a bit and walked over to the still sitting Tadashi, flicking him lightly on the forehead as she always did.
"You're silly."
She chuckled a bit more before walking back towards the shelves behind him. She was acting like she hadn't heard him at all. Perhaps her mind had just blocked it out. Or maybe she was just pretending that it never happened..

As she walked through the shelves her foot touched something. A jar on the floor. She frowned a bit and picked it up.
"This shouldn't be here, it'll attract ants. Then again, my spiders would probably like that."
She shrugged a bit and walked with the jar back towards the front of the room, setting it onto a counter that she was probably planning to use for purchases. She looked back at Tadashi, knowing he was probably wondering what was in the jar. She smiled, tapping it's side with one of her black nails.
"They're cookies. Special cookies. They say that if you're in love they taste sweet, but if you're not they have a grisly texture and flavor. And your love is supposed to last longer and grow stronger, seeing as how they never seem to become stale. I'd say that their ingrediants are the reason for that though."
She shrugged a bit and turned around realising that she had forgotten to untangle her web. She frowned a bit and lightly trotted to the back of the store to get it, leaving the VERY tempting cookie jar behind.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." ~ Winston Churchill

Tadashi was very happy to hear she didn't make a habit of slapping people. It wasn't one of those sensations he enjoyed by any means, hell he usually tried to avoid people who did a lot of slapping. The sound of a palm forcefully and quickly making contact with the side of a persons face made him shudder, hell the mere thought of it made him cringe. Especially double slaps...those are the worst! Least that was how Tadashi felt about them.

He heard Lilith laugh a bit when he plopped down on the floor all wobbly legged. He continued to laugh, that Lilith was of course laughing with him and not at him, right? Not that it mattered really. He just nodded when she said that the who falling thing happened sometimes. He was happy to hear it wasn't that strange for him to fall over and what not. He just smiled and continued to laugh for a few minutes before putting his foot in his mouth when he blurted out something that well....he'd been pondering for awhile actually.

Yes, he actually had thought about it before. Lilith was a beautiful, mysterious, sweet, amazing...ok ok, you get the picture. She had a lot going for her and Tadashi loved her company. So yes, the thought of maybe juuuuuust maybe there was someone out there who could understand Tadashi and want to be with him. And maybe juuuuuuust maybe that person was Lilith. Course he wouldn't pester her with it, if she didn't want to talk about it or even consider it that was her choice after all.

He, being a gentlemen, would accept whatever her decision was or reaction for that matter. Her reaction was confusing. The look on her face made his heart sink a bit. Then she suddenly smiled and laughed....more confusion. Tadashi didn't understand women and he sure as hell never claimed to even have the slightest idea as to how they work and think, but lilith was a whole other story. She put him through more loop d' loops and emotional confusion than any woman he'd ever met before.

When she flicked his head and called him silly all he could do was blink a few times and sit there, baffled. Next thing he knew he heard something about attracting ants and spiders liking it. He shook his head and snapped out of his daze, his usual smile returning to his face. He listened as she explained about the cookies, his eyes widening a bit. The cogs in his head started turning, he was very curious if they worked or not. Soooo, when Lilith set them down and walked off it was like she was asking for him to go after them.

His curiosity and sweet tooth got the best of him. He watched Lilith till she was out of sight. He then looked at the spiders and pressed a finger to his lips and winked. He quietly stood up and started creeping over to the jar. He winced when his foot his a squeaky floor board, squeezing his eyes shut and freezing for a moment. After a few seconds he opened one eye and looked around. He sighed and quickly snuck over to the cookie jar. His head filling with thoughts, what would Lilith do if she caught him was the main thing on his mind. He looked around once more as he reached for the jar...

The Pessimistic Optimist

Lilith continued to laugh as she walked down the room. It wasn't that she was laughing at him, or at his words, it was more like her own insanity. Well, insanity might of been a strong word to use. Not only did she not believe what she had just heard, but she knew that it would be too good to be true. How could someone possibly see her in such a light? Then again, she hadn't shown her true colors, she hadn't been as how people knew her to be. She hadn't become that monster that she had tried so hard to lock away. But this peace couldn't last forever. One day, she'd need to blossom and show her true colors once more, despite the effect it would have on those around her..

She herself had thought about her and Tadashi. She had wondered if he was the one that could balance her out. She had wondered if the spaces inbetween his fingers, fit perfectly with her hands. But a part of her, deep down at the bottom of her sinking heart, knew that there would be problems. Things she could not ask of him. Things that would cause misery. She could never stay in one place for very long, and she wanted to rebuild her own village. She couldn't ask him to one day leave such a wonderous place such as Konoha, she didn't even want to leave! But unless her village was a street corner, she would need to, something she was prepared for. But was Tadashi? Yes he had traveled from his home villages to Konoha, but that was far different from going to an isolated island and building things from scratch. She didn't want to put him through that, he deserved better.

But there was another section of her heart, that wanted to take him with her to the ends of the earth.

After Lilith trotted away from the jar she started to take the bits of silk from her tentacles. And just as she was out of Tadashi's sight, she started what she was really planning. Her spiders started to descend from the ceiling with different strands of blues and silver thread. She was going to quickly make Tadashi's Kimono, while he was distracted.

Perhaps she had purposely placed the jar there, knowing his sweet tooth and curiosity would get the better of him. But what she hadn't planned on was if the cookies were sweet to him. A grisly cookie would be hard to get rid of. One wouldn't wish to swallow it, but also wouldn't want to spit it out somewhere would they could get caught. A sugary cookie on the other hand, would be easy to savor and allow to melt in one's mouth. Either way, it was a good distraction.

After some time and careful weaving, the light blue silk was forming a male's kimono, white designs of tiny goldfish and snow flakes littering the material here and there. It would of been enough time for Tadashi to snatch a cookie, and conceal any evidence that might of been. As the last thread of silk was snapped the spiders dropped the fabric into Lilith's pale waiting hands. She smiled a bit and began to fold it up, the spiders creating a silver sash to go with the craftwork they had just completed. She carefully took it from them and wrapped it around the garment, just as one would for packaging. Now she wouldn't turn into one of those money hungry people who would take advantage of the spiders, these kimonos she made were special, only for those she thought would take good care of them. She turned around, whispering a quick 'thank you' to the spiders, and walked back towards Tadashi. (If he was even still there.) When she did find him she quietly walked up behind him, not on purpose though that's just what happened when she walked. She stood there for a while before her euphorious voice rang out.
"What're you doing?"

Tadashi's fear of getting caught had him moving a great deal slower than normal as he unscrewed the jar top. His eyes darting from side to side as he slowly, with his free hand, reached into the jar. His firmly grasped a cookie between his thumb and index finger. By this point he'd stopped breathing and at the moment he looked like he was struggling with the thought of inhaling. He slowly pulled the cookie from the jar, followed by slowly putting the top back on the jar.

After a few minutes of just standing there like a a statue, Tadashi gave a sigh of relief. He used his right hand to wipe a few drops of sweat off his forehead. His hand accidently hitting the jar. He freaked out and dove the jar, catching it...thank the lord. He sat there on the floor for a minute, holding the jar to his chest. The cookie he'd plucked from the jar was still in his hand, somehow. He slowly stood up and did a victory fist punch into thin air.

It was about that time that Lilith had walked up behind him. Tadashi yelped when he heard her voice and jumped. The cookie and jar flew into the air. Tadashi dove for the jar and caught it once again. He opened his mouth wide and caught the cookie with his teeth. In fit of nervousness he bit down on the cookie. His eyes suddenly widening. He'd take another bite, for the moment he forgot that Lilith had caught him in the act of cookie theft. Dun dun duuuuuuuuun.

He smiled and munched on the delicious cookie, thats right...it was sweet, oh dear. After a few minutes he looked from the jar to Lilith. A drop of sweat would run down the side of his face. He swallowed/gulped and slowly stood up. "Uh...c..cookie?" He offered her the jar. "Umm, Lilith...." he blushed ever so slightly, looking at her with those piercing blue puppy dog eyes of his..."the cookies are delicious and sweet..." Could it be, nooo...yes...maybe? YES!

Lilith laughed softly as she saw Tadashi's reaction to being caught. Of course she had already figured the jar was much too tempting for him, and he wouldn't be able to resist sticking his hand inside it. She hadn't planned to scare him so badly, that just sort of happened. It made her very innards chuckle in response. It felt good to laugh so often, it had been a long while since she was able to do that.

As he got up and turned around to offer her the jar she couldn't help but smile innocently, unprepared for what he was going to say next. That adorably guilty face of his, those puppy dog eyes; How could anyone ever get upset at a face like that? Lilith certainly couldn't resist and she was known to have quite a fierce temper at times. But with Tadashi, and children, she wouldn't let that show. That was probably because both had such innocence and seemed to live in the bliss Lilith wished she could know. Oh how she envyed them..

When Tadashi said that the cookies were sweet, it made Lilith pause. No no, it couldn't be true... could it? And if it was, was it really her? No, it was stupid to even think that. How could he possibly love her? She merely continued to smile and looked up at him, seeming as dense as ever.
"Aww, my little Tadashi is in loooooooove with some lucky girl~! I wonder who it could be. Perhaps we'll see her, and find out at the festival today."
She gently stroked the side of his face like a mother would, a mother that had found out their child had it's first love. She took her warm smooth hand from his face and set the jar back onto the counter, later presenting him with the bundled up Kimono.
"I believe this is for you. The spiders worked really hard, so you'd better take care to not rip it okay?"
She chuckled softly hopeing he would like it, and also not become overwhelmed with the effects of te cookies. Of course he wouldn't push her down to the ground to have his way with her, but considering how persistant he was, he would probably try to prove his love to her for some time. But would Lilith happily accept his love back? Of course.

You will most likely be involved in Ninja business somehow, since we are a hidden village.” After finishing her talk, she kicked off the ground and began bolting across rooftops as was the custom of ninjas these days.

Hinata walked through the busy streets of Konoha, already wearing the ocean blue kimono that had been made for her by Lilith. Her long flowing hair was half pinned up with a large butterfly clip to match the rest of her outfit. Her neatly cut bangs framed her noble face perfectly, as what would be expected of a clan leader's daugther. Normally she would of been following after Naruto, lurking in the shadows like some stalker, but her dainty chest was filled with a fluttering joy today. Naruto-kun had asked her to go to the festival with him. Oh it was like a dream come true for the navy haired Hyuuga heiress.

Although...

By not secretly following after her crush, there seemed to be something missing in her day. It was an empty feeling, yet at the same time fulfilling. She just couldn't contain her happiness, this usually shy timid girl was out in the open by herself. Then again, being out in the open wasn't a problem, it was talking to Naruto that made her weak in the knees. (Actually she fainted most of the time before her legs even got told to go limp, but that isn't the point at all.)

Today, Hinata was doing more than simply sneaking behind poles. Today, she was searching for something. Something she really should of bought earlier. But it was better late than never, right? She was in search of Toshikoshi soba noodles, a common dish to eat and cook on New Year's Eve. Sure she could of gotten cooks to do it for her, but what's the fun in that? She wanted to do something special for her immediate family, and possibly Naruto. Now that she thought about it, she hadn't checked up on Lilith since she saw her leave in a hurry that other night. The sweet kunoichi began to slightly worry, she could see that Lilith was a very strong person, but could she take care of herself after just being released? Perhaps she could, and maybe Hinata should go check up on her later. She would of heard something if she was killed right? Probably not... She stopped in the middle of the road, looking up to the soft white sky. Where was everyone? And were they ok?...
