J A S K--------------------------------

They soon arrived at the base, with little resistance surprisingly and entered the building. All was going smoother than he had anticipated, and Jask glanced around the area with slight suspicion at how smoothly everything was going. Usually they would have been flocked by the opposition long before they entered the base. And he couldn't help but wonder why there was so little protection on the outside. Perhaps so as not to draw much attention to them, or something. He quickly disregarded the thought, and checked to make sure his weapon was fully loaded before proceeding with the others.

As they approached the base, he looked around in unease at the empty hallway, and entered the base with the others. Raising his weapon in anticipation of a surprise attack. Fortunately, an alarm sounded that would eliminate any chance the Dark Moons had for one; and Jask quickly ran into the room Nali had pointed out and took refuge behind one of the many crates that was in there.

The Dark Moons soon began pouring into the room, and Jask let out a low growl and peeked around the corner of his crate just in time to see Nali get thrown back a little by one of the Dark Moon's shockwaves, and he watched her. When she delivered a much more powerful shockwave back in return, he narrowed his eyes and went back into cover. A bullet ricocheted off of the crate he was hiding behind drew his attention back to the moment. He hissed in surprise and ducked further into the cover, gripping his gun. Emerging from cover once again, he began shooting in bursts at the first people on the opposing side he could see, taking a few of them out in the process.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

[kitties!]As fire began to return from their side of the room, Nali raised her barrier. Once it was set, she hopped over her cover to duck behind another crate a little farther into the room to close distance on the defending forces. As she leaned out from cover to fire at the Dark Moons, the blue laser dot from her Phalanx flitting about the enemy line, some more mercs joined in on the battle, these ones on the ledges above their green-clad comrades.

[kitties!]Nali actually didn't notice them until she felt one round from a sniper rifle cut through her shield and run across her right shoulder near her neck, just along the edge of her armor. Either she'd been moving too much or the merc hadn't been a very good sniper if he'd meant to take her out, but she grunted at the sudden hit, glad it'd just grazed her as she'd taken cover once again. A couple of breaths later, she leaned out again just enough to fire a couple of rounds off in the direction of the person who'd shot her, but Nali cursed when she heard her shots hit nothing but the cover the sniper had taken.

[kitties!]"Dammit," Nali sighed, placing a new clip into her gun before calling out to her teammates, "Someone take those guys up top out!"

Jask quickly ducked behind cover once again and reloaded his weapon. He looked over at Nali when she shouted out for someone to take out the guys up top, and his line of vision snapped upwards to see the pair of Dark Moons that were positioned on one of the ledges above them. He looked down at his gun once again and stood from his cover to take aim at the unsuspecting Dark Moons. They'd been too distracted and didn't even notice him as he shot, and soon enough they were both on the ground. He nodded towards Nali, a little begrudgingly, before ducking behind the crate once again.

Was Thinking About: Grumble Grumble...

Uneventful landing. Hm. Nali 'tipped' the driver and knocked out the only (and a rather pathetic excuse of a) sentry on duty, whom the Krogan rushed over to almost immediately afterwards, grabbing his weapon and popping out the unused thermal clip into a small pouch at his side filled with them...he WAS using a Claymore after all, besides they needed all the clips they could get!

Being on the careful side he lumbered in last to covered their back (albeit unneeded) before the alarms went off over they heads and they rushed to a more open room...well, the other squadmates did, Krogan just slowly lumbered after them...he wasn't exactly in the biggest hurry: these people could handle themselves well. He emerged into the room just in time to see Nali stumble slightly from a hit from a sniper, whom was soon taken down by jask...but that last part was irrelevant to the krogan.

He snorted before emerging into full view and if he didn't look mad ENOUGH before...well you could see his pupils dilate slightly as he threw his head back in an ear deafening roar before charging forward...on closer listening however, one could make out that it wasn't so much a roar as it was the extended bellowing of the word 'Amazon'. If the roar wasn't enough to attract the attention of the enemy, maybe the fact that the eight foot monster swatted a crate out of his way instead of jumping over, and trampled one of the Dark Moon mercs beneath a literal ton of pissed off Krogan, before grabbing a second and throwing him towards a third before firing his claymore into the two man pile while he laughed maniacally. During this whole time one could hear the other Dark Moons screaming or shouting things such as : SHOOT THE KROGAN! or s**t! When'd they get a Krogan!...which made sense, seeing as he wasn't technically part of the Amazon Crew after all.

This felt good, this felt right...he didn't care that he was being peppered with shots, with blast marks on both sides of his chestplate, arms, and some shots had skimmed across his crest...he didn't care. He was Krogan, and they KNEW IT, he could smell their fear...and he would soon TASTE it! HA HA!

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

[kitties!]Nali remained behind cover until her shield could come back up and she could set another barrier, not something she typically liked doing, but she also didn't like getting shot, so being patient was probably the lesser of two evils. By the time she looked back out to the other half of the battlefield, Jask was giving her a nod and the two snipers above were falling to join their comrades on the ground, only...dead. Or at least incapacitated. "Great. Let's finish this up quickly, then!" the asari said, thought she wasn't really sure if she'd done so loudly enough for others to hear her over fire from both sides. Didn't really matter anyway.

[kitties!]The vanguard hissed again when one of her rounds managed to fly past her target as he ducked behind his cover again. Ammo was already scarce without them missing so much, but just about when she began to wonder how to draw them out of cover, their hulking behemoth of a teammate charged into the fray after an admittedly terrifying roar. Thank the goddess he's on our side, Nali thought briefly, noticing the Dark Moons were frantically focusing fire on the krogan. ...and were staying out of cover to do so.

[kitties!]From there, their task was straight-forward, and with the mercs' attention on Krogan, Nali was able to stay out of cover for longer, targeting those on the edges of enemy lines. Not only did that reduce her chance of hitting Krogan, but the ones who were close enough to him were likely in trouble already.

-----------"It's time for some thrilling heroics."

The trip to the base was relatively quick and uneventful, and soon the crew found themselves in the middle of a firefight against the Dark Moons, which could be considered their 'arch-enemy' at this point. Velorix pulled out his rifle and immediately went near the rear to begin providing near-constant cover fire while everyone else joined the fray. Sniping was fairly easy since all the mercs seemed to be funneling into the room through one, possibly two doorways, but Krogan's bloodthirsty charge forced the Turian to be extra careful. Thankfully his comrade had drawn all the attention and made the Moons rather easy targets when they began to freak out, and Velorix tried his hardest to protect the burly alien from serious harm.

Anyone who tried to approach Krogan would most likely meet an untimely demise so he instead focused on the leftover snipers and mercs who tried to riddle Krogan's hide with assault rifle rounds. Tried. The Infiltrator hummed to himself while he slid another thermal clip into his sniper rifle. What a good day it was, killing Moons and getting Own back after escaping Purgatory! He never felt this good in the past year, or possibly ever, but that might have been the 'revenge' talking. Especially as the Amazon's crew tore through Dark Moon soldiers like... well... they didn't need a comparison, they were from the freaking Amazon.

"Ouch. Just...ouch" grimaced the drell in silence. After sliding to cover from the 'assault' from those damned dark moons. Wasn't too far from the others---But was he look rather agitated right now; with his pistol out, the drell began to snarl and mutter to himself.

The sad little mercs shooting in a panic towards Krogan, getting shot down not long after. Why, it was nothing short of pitiful to see them come and be mowed down like vermin.

But the mercs belonging to the organization so, so familiar...angered him a little more than what he'd expect. To used as a patsy for these scuzzballs who couldn't even aim a gun right? Why, this moment called for a nice, long bullet from a hard gun. Guess whom was going to give THAT gift towards the screaming mercenaries..

With the majority being mowed down and all sorts of screwed up...what's this?

Turning his sight towards a mercenary who was in a panic while attempting to fire his weapon,
Aris shook his head. A jammed gun discarded by the mercenary who now had to resort to try and use a pistol to attack the Amazon crew.

Today for mercs, however, was a mighty fine day for a bullet sandwhich with a side of death. Rising halfway from his cover using his knees, unloading five shots from his predator onto the chest of the merc, the latter falling dead almost immediately after receiving such a painful gift. Immediately turning to face Nali and Jask after ducking back to his cover, sarcastically hissing:

"I always knew we had the potential to attract people; But I'd never thought I'd see the day when you just stand in line for a nice tackling and/or a** kicking from someone three times...It's almost heartwarming when it happens to a bunch of jerks."

"I reckon we should set a vending machine on fire and toss it out the window! Viva la Resistance!"

When the crew arrived at the base they were met with... no resistance at all. It was unnerving, as normally they'd be diving into cover and opening fire on some poor unfortunate souls that weren't getting paid nearly enough to have to deal with the crew. However said lack of resistance was quickly remedied when an alarm sounded, bringing many Dark Moons out for the slaughter. Veronica dived into cover and opened fire of the approaching group, while Veronica shielded herself, she heard a rumble and noticed one of the Dark Moons go flying into a wall. Veronica slid out of cover and moved foward along with Nali and the rest of the crew, but was forced back into cover from sniper fire. Jask however was already on the scene and quickly removed the two snipers.

Veronica peeked out from behind cover to see a most amazing site, Krogan had gotten rather... angry to say the least and was pounding each and every Dark Moon in his way into paste. It certainly had the right effect though, the Moons were too busy shooting at the angry monster before, so they were ignoring the rest of the crew while they advanced. Veronica opened fire, aiming for the odd mook that wasn't being pummeled by Krogan, Nali was doing the same, and slowly but surely they were getting even closer to their target. "You'd think these guys would have learned by now, everytime they see, or hell, even think that we are in the area they should get the hell out of there!".

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

[kitties!]It seemed each of them had their own comments about the futility of these poor saps' resistance. It'd been a little while since they'd been able to go up against a piss-poor group like this, but it kind of did wonders for the mood. How generous of them.

[kitties!]As the last of the mercs fell, Nali slapped some medi-gel on that silly wound on her shoulder and hopped over the little half-wall she'd been using for cover, approaching the other side of the room...kind of carefully, actually, glancing through the corners of her eyes to make sure there was no one around that corner she'd just passed. Fortunately, with Krogan having just gotten in there with the rest of the team back to cover him, they seemed to have gotten everyone. Still, while looking around the room, she saw a door right where she remembered it, so she stepped into the next room to find a computer. No salarian sitting there this time, though. Just...no one.

[kitties!]The asari advanced to the computer to check it out. It didn't even cross her mind to check for traps first, so she was lucky there weren't any. Instead, she raised a brow to find that the computer only held a few files. It really did look like they were only starting out again. Regardless, among those few files, one video log caught her eye, so she selected it, and a familiar image came up on the screen. Victor Kreen.

[kitties!]"He--ah--he got away, sir. Along with several other participants..."

                  [kitties!]"You let him get away?!"

[kitties!]Well, there was one she wasn't completely expecting, but now that the voice had filled the room, Nali's lips thinned in frustration. Sure, it was a conversation between Duncan and Kreen, and in the right hands, it was very good incriminating evidence as long as Duncan could say more...incriminating things, but for the man (or his voice, at least) to pop up out of nowhere, it seemed to catch her off guard.

[kitties!]From what she could tell, and it wasn't very hard, they were talking about the Dark Moons coliseum on Tuchanka, or more specifically, Skipper's escape/the Amazon's rescue. They'd kind of happened simultaneously, and even back then, she knew that whoever'd been behind it was going to be furious, but to hear it first hand was...rather satisfying, actually. Still, while any idiot could've seen this log and known Duncan wasn't deserving of his Spectre status (or freedom, at that), anyone could've paid a lawyer to say it was falsified or something of the sort. Regardless, she moved the file to her omni-tool and turned back to the others.

[kitties!]"Let's get to Afterlife, then. I'm sure Aria would love to hear that we took care of this little pest problem. And she didn't even have to ask..."

Was Thinking About: -AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!

It didn't take the 'Amazon' crew long to mop up the panicking mercs about him, and when the battle ended he was holding a human in the air, the life slowly choked out of the man, before the krogan dragged the body behind him and away out of sight...why? Maybe it's best the scene was not described, nor could he tell you, as the adrenaline had near taken over his system and he was unaware of his actions.

When the nameless krogan returned, he seemed to be in brighter spirits now, his usual baby's grin replaced with that of a sharks...not his normal 'joking' shark grin, but one that looked like he was going to legitimately EAT YOU for dinner...this slowly faded away to a straight face however as his system calmed down, rolling his shoulders in recognition of the dull pain going through his body while listening idly to what the squad was doing, before he let out a disturbingly satisfied burp...he was also oblivious to the fact that there was blood about his mouth...and it wasn't krogan blood.

J A S K--------------------------------

Jask peeked out from behind his cover again when he heard the booming footsteps and deafening roar of Krogan rushing passed them, and he watched him in surprise. It wasn't odd at all for a krogan to act this way, but this probably had to be the first time in the year that the behemoth had been part of the crew that he'd seen him act this way. Nonetheless, he took the opportunity to stand from behind his cover and peg off a couple more of the distracted Dark Moons along with everyone else; and in the heat of the moment, he hadn't even realized that Nali had wandered off.

Soon enough the remaining Dark Moons were all dead, and Nali returned to tell them that their work here was done. In a way Jask was kind of looking forward to getting to see more of Omega. He actually liked what he had seen so far, though he hadn't seen much of it yet. The place seemed pretty interesting to him.

Focusing on the present moment, he took one last quick look around in suspicion for any straggling Dark Moons they might have missed. When he couldn't spot any, he holstered his weapon and walked over to the others. Glancing over at Krogan as he wandered back into the room from wherever he had gone, he couldn't help but notice the blood around his mouth, and he sniffed the air a few times and grunted. After a moment, he turned back towards the others and began following after them as they started to make their way back to Afterlife.

"I reckon we should set a vending machine on fire and toss it out the window! Viva la Resistance!"

The conflict was resolved, and all the Dark Moons lay dead. Veronica lowered her gun and was about to see what Nali was focusing on, but a rather unusual site caught her eye. Krogan had killed a man, and dragged his body away. She tilted her head to the left in a most puzzled manner. her curiosity was sated however, when he retuirned seconds later... with blood around his mouth. Veronica grimaced and turned away shaking her head, quite disgusted with Krogan's blatant act of cannibalism. She turned as Nali spoke, they were going back to the afterlife to see Aria again.

" Oh... that sounds like fun, my ears have only just stopped ringing since last time we were there". Veronica briefly considered investing in a pair of special earplugs just for when they entered loud nightclubs... maybe pink ones.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

[kitties!]They'd finally made it back to Afterlife, though this time, she didn't even bother with the line. When a batarian stepped forward between her and the door, she simply waved him off and walked past the man, "We have business with Aria." ...that was the way to do it, actually, and they probably could've gotten away with it before, but at least now, they had something to offer to the mighty queen.

[kitties!]Nali had worked "with" Aria several times in the past. The credits weren't easy, per se, but she always had something that needed done, whether it was an assassination or simply a message that needed to get across to less-than-intelligent parties. From the way she'd been speaking about her, it was clear that Nali wasn't exactly fond of her. She admired her fellow asari to some extent, but she supposed their personalities just never meshed: they were either too similar or too different. The vanguard had never taken the time to figure it out, but really, she just didn't care. Nali went to her for business, not for sleepovers.

[kitties!]"Nali!" she greeted the approaching asari, her tone bordering partial indifference and partial interest, fully aware of the air between the two of them, "Someone swoops in and gets rid of the Dark Moons on Omega again, and now you and the rest of the Amazon crew is here. I'm sensing a connection there." Though she remained seated, she'd long since stopped motioning to a seat for Nali--in all the years they'd been acquainted, she'd accepted the offer anyway.

[kitties!]"Your perception knows no bounds," the maiden said before moving one. No time to enjoy anything. Down to business. "Skipper. We need to know if he's here."

[kitties!]"Your old captain," Aria clarified as if there were some other Skipper the Amazon crew cared to find, "I've seen him. He comes in regularly if I'm not mistaken." That last bit was an expletive, to be honest. Aria had a habit of never being mistaken, and if there was a chance that she was, she didn't say anything on the matter. "Try downstairs. You might find something interesting."

[kitties!]She's seen him, Nali repeated to herself. Not only that, but he'd probably been seen recently, too, and that meant he was still alive. The relief in the air was nigh palatable, and Nali actually dared to smile a little as she turned and headed down the stairs, calling back to Aria. "Downstairs, then. Thanks Aria. I owe you one."

[kitties!]Nali couldn't get down the stairs quickly enough, and though she knew the others were likely following her, she didn't really think about it. Hell, she was having a hard enough time concentrating on the stairs, and she almost stumbled down them a couple times. When the asari finally got down to lower Afterlife, though, she saw him. A familiar figure sitting at the bar, and though she kind of wanted to cry out for joy, Nali actually stepped forward and punched the man in the shoulder. "You idiot!" A year, and that was the first thing that came out of her mouth. Good job, Nali.

True enough, encased in the smoky atmosphere of Lower Afterlife's bar there was a figure perched on a stool, hunched over the bar with an air of coldness around him, which had apparently deterred Afterlife's always buzzing population from sitting near the figure. He was a human, from what his back and legs gave off he was quite tall for one of his kind. He wore a simple set of casuals; not military grade, civilian clothes: A gray vest, jeans, combat boots and a black leather jacket. Nothing flashy. The figure downed the final swill of whisky at the bottom of his cup, and tapped it's rim to signal a refill.

His face came into view; a mat of scruffy brown hair adorned the top of his head, and his reddish-hazel eyes dropped from the bartender to his glass lazily. He leaned on his free hand, which in turn leaned via the elbow it was attached to on the table; interlocked in the fingers of this hand was a lightly smoking cigarette. Owyn Skipper was the man's name, former Spectre and Union frigate captain (and radically renowned badass) turned military deserter and galactically-renowned criminal.

The past year had taken it's toll on Skipper; one could even go as far to say it broke him. Of course, Owyn had always been zealous, brave, unfearing. But his faith in the Council's and Union's belief in good was always the rock he leaned on, and when that rock slipped from under him and he was left running for his life across the galaxy in a stolen shuttle, Owyn kind of gave up. And giving up was something that very few people would ever expect Captain Owyn Skipper to do.

Owyn's eyes shifted as he brought his hand away from the cigarette at his lips and left it perched between his teeth as he puffed on it. Soon, he heard a kind of frantic clattering of boots on the metal flooring getting louder with each step, and a light punch on his shoulder sprang Owyn into action. With his right hand he grabbed the forearm that the fist was attached to and pressured it onto the table while simultaneously using his left hand to bring out a collapsed M-3 Predator and unpacking it into firing condition, standing up and pressing it to the neck of the asari that had sprung Owyn's apparently jumpy reflexes.

When Owyn saw that he'd grabbed Nali, instead of reacting with surprise and relief, he let out a disgruntled sigh before releasing her and sitting back down, sipping from his now refilled whisky glass. "The ******** you doing here?" he asked monotonously, looking forward rather than at the asari to whom he spoke. Surely if Nali was here, then the Amazon crew wouldn't be far behind. That was not something Owyn wanted to deal with...

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

[kitties!]When Skipper jumped at the impact, instead of fighting back, she let her arm go limp just so nothing would end up getting pulled or bending the wrong way. She knew he wasn't going to hurt her as soon as he saw who she was. ...at least, she was pretty confident in it, though she had to admit there was the slightest trace of doubt as soon as he drew the gun. Still, Nali glared at the man, even after he withdrew his weapon and returned to his drink.

[kitties!]"A year," Nali forced more words, standing between him and the next stool over, "A whole damned year, Skipper, and you couldn't even ******** contact us?" Goddess, she wanted to hit him again, but the lady crossed her arms to keep her hands to herself. "Every single time we landed or docked anywhere, I didn't know if that was the day we would find you or your corpse or if we would finally hear your name on the news vids, and now I find you here, pissing your credits away at a bar while your ship is scraping by just to keep everyone fed?" How could you do this to me?

[kitties!]The asari took a curt breath, just some faint attempt to keep herself from exploding too hard at the human. The maiden wasn't really sure if it worked, but she continued anyway. "What the ******** am I doing here? I'm here to bring your sorry a** back to the ship, and by the goddess, if you so much as resist, we will use force, so make it easy on everyone, get your s**t together, pay for your drink, and get moving."
