The day I let a pack of thugs come and conquer the galaxy is the day that I die.

"Otium Aris. 'Hubby' is an affectionate term given to me by Veronica which I will explain later," replied the Drell to the red-haired human in a mused tone. Although his thoughts were primarily geared towards the situation at hand, it was always nice

As of now, the Drell clearly wanted to get in the facility, unearth what they needed to find out, and then leave. After Ackerty said his piece and left the group to their own devices, especially when given a view on the facility. 'Operation Phoenix', this mission was to be called by their superiors. But the name, Aris believed, wasn't quite fitting---if there was an operative to a known terrorist faction, then the greatest of benefits would lie in said information REMAINING in said ashes.

....I've been thinking about Duncan and Precursor way too much. This is different. And hopefully easier, thought Aris as he took in a deep breath. Not even on the ground, and he was already feeling anxiety concerning the secrets in this place. Skipper's words concerning the security of said area didn't help much, but with the announcement of five minutes before landing, he'd make himself ready.

"Absolutely Captain," Aris responded stenrly, "So let's make the galaxy a safer place and kick some zealous terrorist a**."

[mmdatass]Discussion went about the shuttle, but concerning what was just about beyond her. Her eyes were closed and resting, fluttering open every now and then to see how much they stung in fatigue, and while she wasn't trying to fall asleep, Nali wasn't really paying attention to anything that didn't sound really authoritative--that one tone Skipper used when giving an order or making a suggestion concerning the mission. It was easy to recognize but hard to explain, especially since--smack. "Ahh..."

[mmdatass]Once her little groan had hung in the air for a second, she looked up at the captain who'd fallen to one knee for her. ...alright, maybe that was an over-romanticized way of putting it, but the little gesture was pretty sweet. Not that she would say anything about it, especially not at the moment when there were a billion eyes on them at the moment. Actually, at most, it was probably two or four (or three or five if someone was winking), but the whole what? no, we're not having sex thing kind of made her feel like the entire galaxy was watching.

[mmdatass]"Just a little tired, that's all," she smiled and answered quietly, keeping her eyes on the man. Hey, she could like what she saw, too, couldn't she? "Didn't get much actual sleep last night."

Maxine shifted nervously back and forth on her toes. Like any good soldier, she was handy with a gun, and she was a fancy biotic on top of that. While she fit in just fine in any hospital environment, she was incredibly unexperienced on a battlefield. She knew she was capable, but the anticipation en route was enough to make her stomach do turns. She was only made more uncomfortable by the comment from Ackerty, pale cheeks turning the color of her hair. Her eyes darted to the ground and she rocked forward on her tied again, dropping back on her heels heavily.

She felt like a child on the first day of school. She knew everyone's names by heart--as well as their entire medical history--but she was useless without a face to put to them. Max felt awkward and heavy in armor, even when it was very light. Instead of focusing on how out of place she still felt as one of the new kids on the block, she concentrated on the mission ahead of her and tried not to throw up. She would have much preferred open heart surgery to the anticipation of the drop.

*ooc: writers block hit me like a ton of bricks to the face, good god.

Despite all that had been running through his mind when he had flopped into bed, the vorcha had actually gotten a pretty sound sleep. He awoke and kicked the covers away from himself unceremoniously before letting out a massive yawn and getting out of bed to begin what was sure to be an eventful day. It felt good to get a restful night’s sleep. Although he didn’t think anything would ever beat that bed on the Citadel. Not that it mattered.

Barely having enough time to grab breakfast before getting the call to meet the others in the shuttle bay, Jask walked rushedly through the halls and into the armory. He equipped his weapons with a half-eaten piece of toast clenched between his jaws, rushing off to the shuttle bay to meet the others and devouring the ‘meal’ along the way.

He arrived to see a large gathering of people already there, and he grunted as he pushed his way into the crowded shuttle. All of the seats had already been occupied, so he simply stood next to a member of the team he had failed to see up until that point. He held onto a pipe on the side of the shuttle as they took off, to avoid getting thrown around, and he just glanced at the new human for a moment. He regarded Maxine in contemplation and sniffed in slight skepticism, before turning his attention towards the conversation that was being had between Ackerty and Owyn. Once again, he found himself lost amidst the details, and his grip tightened around the pipe slightly in annoyance. He sometimes wished he knew more about the ‘Reapers’ or this ‘Illusive Man’, or anything they were talking about really. Instead of just blindly following the others like he had in the Blood Pack. Sometimes he wished he could help more; but so far all he’d had to go on was bits and pieces of stories he’d heard, and his own interpretations. Not exactly the most reliable of sources.

Oh well, he thought dismissively. Despite his apparent cluelessness about the situation, he knew that if this situation was anything like the countless others he'd been on with the crew up until this point, shooting would be required, and that was something he definitely knew how to do.

[Pants!]Veronica had awoken several hours ahead of everyone else like she usually did. A particularly horrifying nightmare had caused Veronica to wake up in sweat. She recalled being face to face with Precursor itself before simply being destroyed by its beam. It was a simple and short dream, but it was enough to disturb her so much that rolling over and shrugging it off wasn't an option. The reality of the crew's situation was hitting her hard, she hadn't slept properly for a while now, every slumber was rudely awaken by the same image of Precursor and a flash of its beam before she awoke in a startled state. She groaned groggily and pulled herself up from the floor and dragged herself out of the room. The floor was cold against her feet but the sudden spikes of cold kept her from drifting off as she walked into the dark, empty mess hall. She slumped herself over the nearest table with an angry snarl. Well... she might as well get comfy until she was needed.

[Pants!]Soon enough after several hours Veronica was now stood fully armoured in a shuttle. She had managed to grab one of the chairs and had managed to sit comfortably enough with her head propped against the wall. Skipper was standing quite comfortably but he still looked quite tired. Maybe he wasn't faring so well in the dream department as well? Also joining them was the gruff, and bearded Sergeant Tom Freedom! After his timely intervention with Mungo and Co Veronica certainly felt safer with him around, he looked on edge though as if something was really bothering him but he was keeping it bottled up.After a brief period the image of John Ackerty appeared before them which was quite a surprise as they had been expecting Admiral Faust instead. Ackerty was his usual blunt self and didn't take kindly to the welcome that Skipper had given him. Veronica drifted in and out as the two talked but snapped to attention when Asari prostitutes were mentioned, she doubted the mission actually involved them but it was still and interesting and motivating thought. One other thing was that Ackerty had stated he'd back both her and Maxine, she turned away from the screen while turning slightly redder than usual, it wouldn't be so bad if the man wasn't her teacher.

[Pants!] It turned out they were involved in something far less interesting and not sexual, something that the Alliance were calling Operation: Phoenix along an insider who had decided to swap colours and assist the crew instead and they would be facing the substantial forces of Cerberus this time, which was a nice change of pace from the Reapers. There was just about 5 minutes of the shuttle Journey left and Skipper wanted to know if the crew were ready, Veronica glanced up and nodded silently at him. She was most definitely ready for this, but couldn't shake off the feeling that things would go pear shaped along the way like they always did.

Na'alSalarian Engineer

Na'al's eyes jolted open and the Salarian sat up quickly in the bed feeling like a million credits. There was barely any pain in his side save for a bit of numbness. He flung the sheets off of himself as he got out of the bunk and then tidied up his sleeping area before heading out again. There was another mission on the horizon and Na'al needed to be ready and get some time to brace himself against any emotions he may feel just in case there was to be another tragedy. He moved swiftly to the elevator and down to his lab where he had left his armor. For the next several minutes or so, maybe about ten or twelve, the Salarian put ever plate in place and made sure each bit was secure. He reached over for his helmet but stopped when he realized that the piece of armor was still broken and he had not yet acquired another one. When he was all set, Na'al headed down to the hangar bay to join whoever was already there.

In the shuttle, Na'al stayed silent while he payed attention to the human Rear Admiral's detailing of the day's mission. He wasn't sure what to think of the way the captain and his superior were bantering back and forth. Maybe it was just a human thing to be so informal with a higher up. The mission itself seemed very straight forward and had a very clear objective, though he wasn't foolish enough to think that this one might be easy. He still barely knew anything about Cerberus other than some assumptions that they must have a substantial amount of finances in order for them to keep so illusive. He listened to the advice that the captain gave and wondered what kinds of things that this organization could throw at them that could top the events of the previous mission. Na'al was only wishing that he would never have to meet any of those super-soldier again any time soon. No amount of emotional bracing would be enough for the impact those creatures left.

When Captain Skipper asked if the crew was ready, Na'al took out his heavy pistol which was not loaded yet, but he had a clip just waiting to get clicked into the weapon. "Yes, sir!" The Salarian stated with a serious face. He was ready to get into another fray, there would be no excuse to get caught off guard now that he knew how the team worked and fought together. Na'al did briefly glance towards the new combat medic, but only for a fraction of a second. There was no way that a repeat of the last mission was going to happen again. Hopefully at least.

Owyn smiled under his helmet, patting Nali on the shoulder as he rose back to his feet at the sound of everyone confirming they were ready to go. As soon as he'd gripped the rifle with both hands, Sagran yelled up "We're here, boss!" as the shuttle doors opened to only make the rushing sound of the shuttle's engines louder and the view of the humongous Cerberus facility available. Owyn didn't marvel for long at the building, he wanted to get on the ground as soon as possible. As soon as the shuttle pulled to a hovering halt Owyn advanced on the door and leapt powerfully from the shuttle, his armoured boots clomping heavily onto the ground. Owyn bent his knees to cushion his fall before standing straight again and walking forward so that the rest of the team had room to dismount. Owyn kept his eyes. Freedom was one of the last off, but jogged up to Skipper so that he was one of the ones at the head of the group. It seemed that Sergeant Freedom didn't like being at the back. Something Owyn could definitely respect.

"Well, check out the welcoming commity." As a door at the far end of the roof of the building they stood on opened up, a squad of twenty or so Cerberus troops flooded out. They was a good distance between the team and them of about fifty metres, or at least that was Owyn's gauging. Owyn quickly switched out his Valkyrie for his Valiant - and gave himself a mental note to wait until the situation could be assessed before picking a weapon at the start of the mission - before dropping to one knee and glaring through the scope of his sniper rifle. Owyn saw three figures come between the mass of Centurions and Assault Troopers; Combat Engineers. The trio began taking their packs off their backs and mounting turrets. This was bad for the team given the group's insistent lack of cover, while Cerberus' team were using their signature portable, kinetic barrier covers. Owyn yelled out his first order of the day to Veronica and Nali. "Barriers!" and the two biotic shields were raised just in time for the team to be protected from the hail of heavy fire-bursts from the turrets.

Owyn meanwhile leapt into action and spruced his sniper rifle up with Disruptor ammo, emptying the three-round clip into one of the three turrets that were set up. It exploded, knocking the few around it onto their rear ends. The combat engineer stood up to try and fix it, but Owyn had quickly reloaded his weapon and plugged one of the engineers in the head. He fell dead and Owyn fired twice more at the turret on the right of the one he'd just destroyed. His bullets both hit, but didn't destroy the turret. Owyn stayed on his knees, barking out another order. "Stay in the barrier!" before turning to Veronica. "Veronica, double the strength of this thing!" in referance to her barriers before turning to Nali. "Nali, cancel the barrier! I want a sphere up!" the team would need the Biotic Sphere's extra damage and shield boosts for their weapons if theyw ere going to fight at this range from no cover.

The assault troopers and centurions fired their respective Hornets and Mattocks at the barrier, thankfully none managing to penetrate Veronica's powerful biotics. Tom Freedom pulled out a frag grenade and set it's fuse off before tossing it up in the air and yelling. "Batter-up!" before using his shotgun like a bat and whacking the grenade rather impressively over the entire span of the battlefield, nestling in comfortably amongst a squad of assault troopers before exploding and sending them straight to Hell. Tom Freedom's victorious laughter resounded for a few seconds over the gunfire before dying down.

Getting up the next morning wasn't much easier than the day before. She groaned as she slowly rolled onto her back before breaking out into a hacking cough. "Ugh.." was all she was able to muster when her omnitool began flickering. Her eyes shifted to her left to watch the orange hologram flicker. She didn't want to answer it. She just wanted to sleep longer. A lot of the discomfort in her chest had subsided, but she felt hot and uncomfortable. She probably looked like a mess underneath that helmet of her's. Reluctantly, she tapped the omnitool to catch a message. It was time to move out with the squad. Damnit. Anything she had been attached to was already removed which was a bit of a relief. She wouldn't know what the heck to do with anything she had on her if she were. Karii gradually sat up and let her legs drop off the side of the bed. Okay, maybe moving wasn't going to be as difficult as she thought. She rolled her shoulders and they popped, along with her knees and part of her back. Hopefully that wasn't a bad thing. She then pushed herself onto her feet. The vertigo came and went quickly and she was thankful for that. Being in bed for two days could do that to you, apparently. With that, she managed to shuffle downstairs to gear up. To no surprise, she was one of the last ones to join the team on the Kodiak. She sat on the nearest available seat with a light sigh. She was already tuckered out. No matter. She had to remain focused on this mission. She didn't want to be a sandbag like she had been on the last. She bit on her bottom lip; she was going to make sure she was an asset, not a setback. She then sneezed. Another day in bed may have not been such a bad idea, but she was swimming in antibiotics. They'd kick in eventually.

Karii was only partially listening to the conversation the Admiral and Owyn shared. There was a lot of nonsense that she wasn't all too interested in hearing. Something about prostitutes and a lot of foul-mouthed words; not that it really bothered her, she was just more interested in hearing what the mission on hand was. And there it was; a Cerberus Mole. Her beautiful omnitool flickered to life to project the schematics of the building. If the Illusive man was going to be there, that meant there was going to be some interesting tech on hand. If hadn't have still felt so sick, she would have been more excited than she actually was to get her hands on their system. But she was starting to doubt herself, especially as the new wave of fever washed over her body. Ugh. She hated. But she didn't have time to dote on that as she shifted the image in a circle to see the back of the building. The building's security was going to be intense. This entire building was massive, too. How were they supposed to find a mole that had no description or detailed location..? She didn't like the odds. But they had gotten through worse together. "Ready Captain," she said in a strained voice.

She followed after the team as the hatch opened. Cerberus seemed to be waiting for them. Fantastic. Her feet had only been on the ground for maybe a few seconds before the bullets began to fly. She ducked low and scrambled to the cover provided by Nali and Veronica. Thank goodness for them. Her eye scanned the field as the Cerberus operatives began to spread. There was no cover. She had a lot of faith in Nali and Veronica, but between the number of troops that were moving in and the turrets, she wasn't sure how long they'd be able to keep this up. Those turrets were going to release one hell of a storm on their shields. Wait. Turrets. She blinked before a large smile spread across her face. She could handle those, at least for a short time! Just as she turned out of cover, one of the three turrets exploded.

Alright, so that one was handled. She focused her sights on the turret that had taken the least amount of damage and lit up her omni-tool. It took only a mere three seconds for her to bypass the turret's mainframe and slip into its controls. A orange glow rippled over the hacked turret and it stopped firing at the Amazon team. "The far turret is mine!" She coughed as she grabbed onto the knob-appearing hologram on her omni-tool. She twisted the knob and the turret began to swivel in turn with it. It aimed directly at one of the two remaining engineers. As her left thumb "pulled the trigger", the turret rained upon it's owner. What was left of the engineer fell to the ground lifeless. Karii than pivoted the turret towards the centurions and began to fire.

[Pants!]The moment the crew had disembarked from their peaceful shuttle they were immediately set upon by twenty armed Cerberus troopers including three combat engineers with mean looking turrets at the ready. There was very little cover for the crew to use so as Skipper pointed out it was up to the biotics to shield the crew from harm. Veronica raised both of her palms directly in front of her and brought up a good sized barrier which kept all the crew safe, Nali had also done the same . She couldn't help but grin smugly as the Turrets gunfire was rendered completely useless from the combined barriers. While that was going on Skipper grabbed his Valiant quickly destroyed one of the turrets and then did the same to the poor engineer who tried to fix it.

[Pants!]The loss of one turret put considerably less strain on Veronica who was standing a little taller with a more in control stance. It was time for a new order, Nali dropped her Barrier and Veronica was ordered to strengthen hers "Yes Captain!" she said with a nod, her hands began to glow brighter and so did the Barrier. The increase in the Barriers strength was evident as despite Cerberus' efforts their Hornets and Mattock were barely even scratching the paint so to speak. Veronica watched with amusement as the troopers continued to pound her Barrier with bullets to no affect whatsoever. Attacking the crew like this was about the same as trying to dismember a Thresher Maw by tickling it's stomach.

[Pants!]There were still several groups of troopers around however and the crew wouldn't be advancing until they were dealt with. Now it Tom Freedom's turn to bring the pain! He pulled out a frag grenade and Veronica had expected to him to simply throw it like a reasonable, sane person. Both of those things Tom was not, instead he threw his grenade up in the air and mightily batted it across the battlefield using his Shotgun as a club. The grenade landed in front of a small group of presumably now very terrified soldiers who were quickly turned into a fine red paste across the floor. Veronica grinned in awe, she felt that such a technique needed a classy name of sorts, something powerful to impress the masses whenever the Crew spoke of their deeds. Perhaps Freedom's power? Or maybe Explosive American Justice? She'd have to make notes and run a few of these by Tom once this mission was over. On top of that, Karii had used her technical prowess to turn one of the turrets against their owners and then on the Cerberus troops. Veronica couldn't help but wonder why they even bothered? They were clearly out gunned in every way and it would certainly be easier if they just gave up instead of suffering the indignities of fighting The Amazon Crew and paying with their lives.

Na'alSalarian Engineer

There was no hesitation firing at the Cerberus troops once Na'al was off the shuttle with his Locust in hand. The weapon may not have been as powerful as his scorpion, but from the last mission, the Salarian knew to save that ammunition for opponents that really mattered. His own shielding was being battered so right before he moved out of the way to take care of his weapon's overheat, Na'al let loose a combat drone to keep some of the enemy troops busy while he reloaded. In the time it took for his clip to drain, he must have taken down one or two with assistance from the others. There was no way to tell who truly finished off who. That wasn't important though as the mission was not to see how many each person killed.

A satisfied grin crack his lips when he saw his combat drone just get close enough to one enemy soldier before exploding and sending said soldier flying back. Na'al fired a few shots at that one to finish him off. He moved closer to the team to follow the captain's orders to stay within the confines of the barrier the biotics of the team created. Na'al winced at the sudden small burst of light from Freedom's grenade. At least there was fair warning to give others a fraction of time to brace themselves. It seemed like the fight was very one sided in favor of the Amazon crew, but Na'al wasn't complaining and neither was anyone else.

Another constant spray of fire against them drew Na'al's attention to the turrets and he was about to act until Karii took care of it with a sabotage and turned it against those that set it up. "Nicely done." He spoke, but it would have been difficult to hear him over the sounds of battle. Na'al then targeted one soldier who was trying to get closer from the side and the Salarian began to fire upon him until his clip ran out, but the soldier was still standing albeit without any shielding. He was quickly disposed of with an incinerate and Na'al winced at the sight of the man flailing on the ground screaming in pain while he was covered in flames until he just stopped moving. It was good Na'al felt no pity for the enemy. There was no room for things like pity in these kinds of battle. The only thing that mattered was acquiring the target and getting out.

"Will hold you to story time, friend!" Ivan said, listening to the hum of the shuttle. A quick glance at the rest of the crew made him feel a little nervous. Nobody was really talking, and the energy was a little off. It was the apprehension of going out again after Virmire. Ivan, for one, kept trying to fight his scumbag of a brain. Terrible thoughts kept floating around like old ghost stories. The crew members on the shuttle might not all make it back.

Ivan just hoped that it wouldn't be him as he jumped out and caught up with the rest of the team. The first thing that he noticed was that they were out in the open. As a Cerberus welcoming party flooded onto the roof, a twisting feeling curled in his stomach. Veronica and Nali thankfully pulled up Barriers to shield them from the barrage of fire. Captain Skipper took out an engineer and a turret. Karii took over one of the turrets and worked on demolishing the engineers with their own medicine. He had to admit, he was consistently impressed with the team's ability to barrel out of the gates with all the energy of a raging bull.

The most impressive was when Tom Freedom grabbed a grenade and smacked it across the battlefield into a group of Assault Troopers. Ivan's eyebrows skyrocketed up his forehead as he swallowed thickly. That, that was pretty awesome, he thought to himself. If it wasn't a high combat situation, Ivan would've probably pulled Tom aside and asked him if he wanted to get some drinks. For now, it just made him energized. Things were going well! Ivan eyed the third turret, the one that his captain had damaged. It was on its last legs, and Ivan slammed the Overload function on his Omni-tool. Electricity surged over to the turret, rippled over its machinery, and made it explode.

"Last turret down!" Ivan said, grinning to himself. He knelt, steadied his gun, and locked on the Engineer down the barrel of his scope. A few quick pulses and the poor guy dove for cover. It wasn't nearly enough to kill him. Hell, Ivan didn't think that he even took out his shields. But at least he wouldn't be fixing that turret anytime soon!

The enemies were too far for him to accurately mow down, but Ivan tried to suppress whoever the ******** wanted to shoot at their barrier. The more he kept them back, the more time Karii had to destroy them with their own firepower.

xxOrina's face twisted into an annoyed glare as the captain all but dismissed her question. The justicar didn't like flying blind into a situation. She supposed it wasn't Skipper's fault, as a group of soldiers they were simply expected to do as they were told. Go here. Accomplish task. Get back home. It was the reality of any soldier, she didn't have to like it though. Turning her attention away from the captain the asari checked the motion of her arm once more, her palm glowing with dark energy as she flexed her fingers.

xxThe shuttle pilot called out as the Kodiak began its decent into the Cerberus facility. "Right behind you." Orina stated shortly as she double checked her SMG's thermal clip straightening her posture as she pushed away from the wall behind her. The rest of the crew was rather silent and Orina couldn't tell if it was out of anticipation or melancholy. As the justicar slipped her breathing mask on underneath her hood, just in case, she couldn't help but feel excited about the mission. Other than her worries about the Cerberus mole. The adrenaline pumped eagerly through her veins at the thought of knocking around a few Cerberus zealots.

xxAs the shuttle came to a hover above their drop zone the justicar lept down to the platform using her biotics to slow her decent landing with a practiced grace as she continued to move with a purpose just behind the group as they started towards the facility. Their arrival was soon met with a greeting party of Cerberus troops. "Well, they didn't waste any time." Steadying her gun Orina squeezed the trigger, a burst of three rounds at a time as she pelted at the Centurian's shields. The rapid fire of the SMG quickly disposed of their kinetic barriers but did little to damage their health at the crew's current range. Her left hand glowed bright with dark energy as she shot down the barriers of a third soldier, concentrating her energy for the length of the shot Orina caught the three within a stasis field. Immediately afterward she tossed a pull towards the three helpless targets as they exploded in the collision of biotic energy. The force of the blast knocked a few of the other soldiers off balance but the portable barriers immediately recharged their shields. "Someone take out those generators." Orina called out over the noise of gun shots to no one in particular.

xxWithout the turrets pelting Veronica's barrier with constant fire Orina felt a little better about their situation but no less pumped. She resisted the urge to quickly close the distance between her and the enemy, staying within Veronica's barrier as she cursed the distance and lack of cover. Half of her abilities were nearly useless at a range, the justicar had grown accustom to taking on a base on her own terms. Which usually meant she would be inside the facility before they even noticed that she was there. Perhaps it was the salarian in her, but the justicar preferred to have the advantage before she charged head first into enemy occupied territory.

The day I let a pack of thugs come and conquer the galaxy is the day that I die.

Why didn't I think of that last one? questioned an impressed Aris.

At least the soldiers in this organization came prepared. As if on cue, they came to greet the incoming Amazon crew with 20 armed soldiers...not that it did much. Veronica and Nali threw up barriers to stop the trajectory of bullets into their bodies, Karii hacking a turrent to rain gunfire upon soldiers, and Freedom being Freedom. As in, using his weapon as a bat toward some very unlucky Cerbies. And their bodies left as nothing more than chunks of Varren meat.

Despite this action however, those Cerberus troops were still shooting at the Amazon crew, and vice-versa. If Aris wanted to hit one with a piece of his Carnage flambe, then he'd just have to soften one up. However, as the Justicar mentioned, there may have been other matters which needed attending.

"Generators. Great," snarled the Drell---While the amazon crew was putting up a fight against the likes of the cerberus soldiers, that generator was pretty much the only thing keeping them alive...But some well aimed tech bursts would even the odds.

"Anybody want to unleash some overloads at the generator over yonder?" he asked the team before unleashing a carnage at a Cerberus trooper.

[mmdatass]Smiling softly, she let her head fall again when Skipper patted her shoulder and stood. Soon enough, though, she had to pick herself up when the shuttle came to a sort of stop and the door opened to reveal their destination before them. The rooftop, at least. So, Nali moved to the opening and opted to let gravity to its job and stepped out of the shuttle rather than jumping like several of the others. The asari landed with an unorthodox clunk in stark contrast to the graceful descent of the Justicar who'd reached the roof just before her. For a brief moment, Nali compared herself to the Matron and suddenly reminded herself of a little girl, rushing forward, imminent scraped knees be damned.

[mmdatass]The Maiden rolled he shoulders, immediately feeling a jolt of alertness as the blood in her veins began to pump more quickly through her form. Her attention shifted over when Skipper made his welcoming committee comment, and--Ooh. People~ Then, the moment of reprise was over, and as soon as Cerberus weapons were raised, an order was given, and two barriers rose up around the team, one stacked over the other. As fire flew, Nali had to note how happy she was that Veronica was such a skilled biotic, especially considering how short her training must've been. She'd joined the Alliance...what? Ten years ago? Thank the Goddess the woman wasn't an asari with decades upon decades of training. The galaxy would have been doomed... Either way, Veronica's barrier allowed for overlap where Nali could replenish her own whenever the need arose.

[mmdatass]The blue biotic was about to refresh her barrier again when yet another order was given. One to Veronica, and Nali felt a little left out (what, wasn't her barrier good enough?) until she was given a task of her own. A bubble! "Got it!" the asari confirmed rather happily. It'd been a while, so as soon as she noticed her friend's barrier strengthen, she dropped her own and replaced it with a Biotic Sphere, making it as large as possible to allow for the team to maneuver while still making it strong enough to be effective. She had never made a sphere to accommodate for such a large group before, so Nali smirked when she saw that it was actually working, not only adding an extra oomph to the damage they were dealing out but more defense in addition to Veronica's formidable barrier.

[mmdatass]Not only did the shift in shields help the others on the team with their fight, but it also freed her hands up to use a weapon: she opted for her Phalanx, equipped with incendiary ammo, of course. Shotguns, especially her Disciple, had better range than people gave them credit for, but their current distance was just crazy, especially without any mods to help with that problem. Thus, Nali had to settle for the little pistol rounds, firing around the edges of the Cerberus side of the battlefield, doing her best to stop their spread and herd their forces toward the dead turrets in the center.

The shuttle came to a stop and they all jumped off of it and on to the building’s rooftop. Jask had been one of the last ones to enter the shuttle in the first place, and so had been one of the first to exit it, due to having been crammed so close to the door. He hopped out and quickly moved to the side to allow the others space to leave as well, quickly surveying the (for the moment) empty rooftop and taking the time to ready his falcon.

No sooner than everyone had exited the shuttle, did Jask’s head snap up and across the rooftop to see a group of twenty or so Cerberus troops come bursting through the door. Jask straightened up in shock and made a surprised grunting sound before ducking into the nearest form of cover he could see, before the shots could begin flying.

It seemed that the team was already hard at work setting up their own lines of defenses, biotic barriers and spheres were brought up to buy them time. While on the other end, the Cerberus troops had begun setting up more offensive lines of defense. Jask peeked up over his cover though quickly ducked back down with a snarl as a turret on the other end locked onto him and began shooting it’s barrage of bullets, which just ricocheted off of the cover when he ducked back down.

A series of explosions were heard and the, extremely quick, fire of the turrets seemed to cease and Jask ventured another peek around the cover just in time to see the last of the turrets blow up. Snickering slightly, the vorcha stood from his cover and aimed his falcon at a group of separating Cerberus troops. Nope. The grenade came in contact with the ground, sending the small collection of bodies hurling away from the explosion before they had a chance to separate completely.

Snickering once again to himself, the vorcha chanced a glance at the others to see how they were doing. They seemed to be holding up splendidly against the opposition. No trouble at all, and he felt a small sense of pride at their ability to combine all their different skills to make a formidable whole. Teamwork, he thought to himself, before directing his attention towards random Cerberus troops and firing off at them to keep them busy while the rest of the team took out their other defenses.
