She slowly sunk into herself, losing herself to her own doubt as to what she was supposed to do. Still moving as if on auto-pilot, May Parker stepped off the bus somewhere in Manhattan and looking about, realising without really realising that she was looking at the burnt remains of City hall, she began to walk. Turning into a an alley, she walked a couple steps before stopping.
Glancing about, seeing that nobody was about and that the ones out walking on the main walkways weren't paying the least bit of attention, May Parker took a deep breath and placing a hand against the wall, she began to use her spider-abilities to climb the side of the building. When she reached the top, she began to look about without moving from where she was standing, sure that the green hell-spawn was somewhere about. After a moment, she forced herself to relax and moving forward, May continued to scan the rooftop. And when she reached the edge, she easily leapt to the next building.
From where he was hiding, the Green Goblin watched the woman come up and over the side of the building and onto the roof. He watched as she surveyed her surroundings, knowing that this was the one who'd dare to interfere with his plans to exact revenge against those who'd hurt Norman.
When she moved to the next roof, the Green Goblin continued to watch her, his mind in a state of war with itself. On one hand he wanted to swoop down and engage the slight modifications he'd made to glider. Perhaps chuck a few of the grenades he'd procured. The part of his mind was constantly whispering, Kill her! Kill her now! But the other part of his mind, the part that was cold and calculating was content to merely watch her.
Soon it reasoned. Soon you can spring the trap and when she falls into it, allowing both of the flies for the spider to die in the process, than you can kill her. And when she is dead, the havoc will continue.
Grinning at the prospect, the Green Goblin decided to continue to watch.
As May Parker leapt to the third building in the row, she suddenly stopped and glanced about, not for the second, third or even fourth time. Feeling as if somebody was watching her, she thought about her options and who might be watching. Quickly deciding that it was either some bird or the goblin, but figuring it was latter of the two, she began to move more cautiously. Something moving catching her peripheral vision almost caused her to stop, but instead she forced herself to continue.
As she moved into the shadows of what looked to be a lean-to or possibly a set of enclosed stairs descending into the building, May Parker acted quickly. Drawing from her powers, she commanded the shadows to move her to a specific location and stepping out behind the thing she thought she'd seen, she gazed at the Green Goblin, evaluating her options.
Caught off guard, the Green Goblin blinked and wondered where the woman had vanished to. Wondering if she'd slipped into the building, he engaged the glider, making sure to keep it on stealth-mode and raising a few feet in the air, he peered about. As he stared at the last place the wannabe had been, he had just a couple seconds to realise that she'd somehow slipped behind him just as she came flying at him, planting her foot squarely in his back, causing him to sail forward in the process.
