The city of Vesper has been plagued with demons and monsters since its founding centuries ago, much like many other metropolises
in this day and age. They come in all shapes and sizes, some as massive as buildings with gruesome appearances and temperaments
to match. But the ones the most horrifying are the ones that don’t look like monsters at all, the ones which can pass as human. The
citizens of Vesper have been at their mercy for years, powerless to stop the destruction wrought upon them. At least they were until
the people known as “Designers” came from the countries across the sea with a solution to their problems; Arma Vivere. Living
weapons have been used for at least a thousand years in the foreign cities, proving to be more capable and reliable in the fight against
the demons and their monsters than standard human-made weapons. Why? Well for starters, those things are so brittle and…lifeless.

The Designers Guild closely guards their secret of crafting weapons that seemingly possess souls, weapons with the similar shape-shifting
abilities of the most powerful demons capable of hiding among the sheep that they slaughter. A weapon that can think, feel, and act on its
own…a perfect partner those who own them, wielders, that is of course assuming that they let them.

The Designers who first arrived in Vesper created themselves a branch of the Designers Guild in the city to function as their base, they
called it Para Bellum. While originally it was created to take on local children as apprentices to learn the craft of being a Designer, the
organization became a headquarters to those who were fighting the demons, the Wielders, those who were given Arma Vivere to fight.
Para Bellum began to register the wielders in the city to make sure that only humans fighting the good fight were receiving their weapons,
making a point to also register the weapons associated with them. All this out of fear of what would happen if a more cunning demon
got their hands on a tool that could obliterate humanity.

Truthfully speaking, Vesper is in a tug of war between many different groups with many different goals. There are Para Bellum, the wielders
and Arma Vivere, Designers and their guild. Those goals are simple, the desire for peace. But is anything ever easy in the world? The
goal of the Demons and their monsters is anyone’s guess, the underground designer movement is starting to gain popularity, there are
those fighting for the rights of Arma Vivere, and then there is the enigmatic Greeting Committee, a group rumored to be filled with the top
demons in the region…as well as the worrisome rumor that their leader has a Arma Vivere of his own.

From the looks of it, Vesper is more likely to end up in pieces than at peace.

                                            Ⅰ. GENERAL RULES

All the general Gaia TOS are to be followed. So all that fun stuff. Roamance is allowed so have at it, but time skip once things get too hot
and heavy. Violence is expected in an rp of this nature, but try to keep it from getting too graphic, lest you wish to be kicked out.
Regarding your conduct in the ooc, this is an rp obviously so you’ll be communicating with lots of people. You don’t need to like everyone,
but you need to at least be polite and civil towards each other. If you intentionally ignore or alienate others, I will remove you from
the rp. I made this for fun, not to deal with drama, so if you do not communicate with me or cause problems, you’re gone, out, bye
bye! Do not advertise your other rps in the ooc thread, this has been a problem so it warrants mentioning. So let’s all have a good
time and there shouldn’t be any problems!

                                            Ⅱ. POSTING & LITERACY

As mentioned in the title post, this is a literate - lazy adv. Lit rp where I expect 300 words or more per post. If you are really into the rp, 300
words is not that hard to do. Proper grammar and punctuation are also expected, so please be mindful of that. In regards to posting,
you are expected to post once a week at least, something that really isn’t hard to ask for. If you can’t manage that, this is not the rp
for you. I like things pretty, so post formats will be necessary. Your format should include your character’s name and role, as well
as stating their current location and who they are with.

                                            Ⅲ. CHARACTERS

Finally, we’re at the fun part: Characters! Your characters should be original, that’s a given. You’re free to make an Arma
Vivere, a wielder, a designer, an informant, a demon or monster…anything else will require an explanation, but I encourage
creativity. In regards to images, please stick to anime images as photographs of real people just make me uncomfortable,
so thanks for respecting that! You are limited to TWO characters in the rp. If you prove yourself, I'll allow you one more.
If I don't trust you with one though, I won't let you have more. Your second character must be a different gender from the first.

                                            Ⅳ. RPING

As mentioned previously, with an RP like this, there’s going to be a whole lot of fighting, a whole lot of dying and killing off of characters.
For starters, should you be removed from the RP for whatever reason, your character is becoming cannon fodder in some way
or another. Also important, no killing off of characters without the consent of the owner. Fights can be plotted out with the involved parties.
God modding will not be tolerated. Sorry, that’s a real killjoy and we’ll be having none of that here. You are also no allowed to puppet other
                                                  people’s characters without permission.

                                            Ⅴ. THE WORLD
Now I'm going to be honest with you. This is my first time working with this particular setting, so it's a learning process for me. I'm
figuring out what works and what doesn't work, so bear with me if things are a little confusing. If any of you guys who join have
ideas, please be sure to say something in the OOC thread. I'm always open to suggestions.

                                            ARMA VIVERE

Literal "living weapons" created by the foreign Designers Guild for the purpose of annihilating demons and monsters that are slaughtering the human race. They were originally crafted thousands of years ago, though original weapons are thought to be lost, some still exist. Arma Vivere are enchanted weapons that are far more deadly than normally crafted ones that humans create and can stand up to a lot more abuse and use than their average counterparts. They are also all one of a kind. What makes them considered as living is the fact that Arma Vivere have the additional ability of possessing a human form that they can switch between that and their weapon form. Each weapon has a personality of its own, a name, likes and dislikes, as well as being experts to using weapons that share their shape and use. It is because of this added ability that many do not view Arma Vivere as mere weapons, but as partners. Despite being objects and being viewed as such, they are very willful and refused to be used by just any wielder. It is for that reason upon acquiring an Arma Vivere, a contract must be formed with them to be deemed as worthy. What these contracts entail vary from weapon to weapon, but they are generally a verbal agreement of some sort. Because Arma Vivere do not age, it is not unusual for them to be passed down through families as heirlooms. They are also known to be sold in specialty or antiques depending on the model and age. Arma Vivere can only be destroyed by other Arma Vivere, by powerful demons, or by ill use, all which are circumstantial with the added factor of what tier they are.

                                                        MAGNUM OPUS
These are the Stradivarius of weapons. This is the finest available tier of Arma Vivere available in the world and only a limited amount exist. Only one weapon of its kind can be considered the Magnum Opus. These weapons are the closest available to original Arma Vivere and in some cases are the original or the replacement to the missing original. Their ages range from a thousand years to as early as two hundred depending on the style of the weapon. These Arma Vivere cannot be destroyed by human error. Because of their power and rarity, Magnum Opus are only found in the hands of the affluent, and if they are for sale, they are only found in antique shops for a large sum. At times, their price will only fluctuate if they happened to kill their wielder. Numerous have tried to recreate the Magnum Opus, but the technique to make the older weapons, particularly of the bladed variety, are gone. Rumor has it that the Magnum Opus may have been crafted using demon souls.

                                                        KNOCK-OFFS
Truthfully speaking, all Arma Vivere are knock-offs of Magnum Opus, but that's beside the point. The knock-offs in question are Living Weapons made outside of the Designers Guild. Because they are unregistered or because their designer is not part of the guild, they cannot be categorized under the title of "Arma Vivere." The difference between knock-offs and true Arma Vivere is the technique which is a closely guarded secret taught only to the finest designers, those in the guild. Living Weapons of the knock-off category are drastically cheaper then normal Arma Vivere, and wielders with these can still join Para Bellum, but they generally break after five years of moderate use and certainly cannot stand up against the more powerful demons and monsters.

                                                        WEAPON TIERS
Original/Magnum Opus ⇢ Arma Vivere ⇢ Knock Offs ⇢ Normal Weapons

                                                  WIELDERS
To put it plainly wielders are the humans who own Arma Vivere and actively use it to kill demons and monsters. Arma Vivere allow wielders to use techniques that should otherwise be impossible to perform, such as summoning wind, fire, etc. Despite the fact that wielders own their weapons, they are unable to use them to their full potential without the cooperation of the Arma Vivere. This actually goes both ways. Arma Vivere cannot ever hope to use all their abilities or go full strength without a wielder, making these daring humans a necessity. Generally with a simple contract, the weapons will recognize their owner as their wielder and only them. It is because of this that contract that wielder and weapon consider each other partners. Wielders in Vesper must register themselves and their Arma Vivere at Para Bellum or else they will be hunted down by the organization. Upon registration, Wielders are able to accept a number of assignments, bounty or monster hunts, or assassinations. The rewards paid to wielders who are successful in their missions are huge, many even achieving levels of fame in the city. Become a wielder for the fame, for the sport of hunting, or for the sake of saving the city...what's your motivation?

                                                  DESIGNERS
These specialized blacksmiths are the creators of Arma Vivere and work as a united collective under the Designers Guild. Thousands of years ago, their predecessors created the Arma Vivere to combat the demons that were slaughtering their countrymen across the sea. Once their country was safe enough from the invasion, the Designers Guild thought of spreading their knowledge and sharing their Arma Vivere. The founders of Para Bellum brought Magnum Opus with them, but not the designers who knew how to craft them. The designers who set up shop took on apprentices from Vesper and began to teach them how to make the weapons. Eventually those apprentices replaced their masters and the cycle continued producing more and more designers who supported each other, all under the banner of Para Bellum. There were countless innovations, but no Magnum Opus were ever produced. Attempted, yes. But they simply couldn't stand up to the standard. Designers also have the ability to destroy the Arma Vivere they created without the use of any weapons.

                                                  THE DESIGNERS GUILD
The Designers Guild is an organization from the country across the sea founded years ago. They created Arma Vivere to counter the demons and monsters ravaging their country. The guild functions as a collective, sharing ideas and techniques with other designers, as well as training the next generation of designers. Loyalty to the guild is absolute to learn the techniques to make Arma Vivere, and for that reason alone it has thrived for all its time. The guild also keeps meticulous records regarding what designers made what weapon and who owns that weapon. The Designers Guild is an incredibly powerful organization thanks to their involvement in the fight against demons and monsters.

                                                  PARA BELLUM
A sub-branch of the Designers Guild in Vesper, Para Bellum has developed into more than that. Para Bellum is still the headquarters for all recognized designers in the city. Each one of their creations are added to the database to be kept track of from knowing the type of weapon to knowing who purchased it. Para Bellum is where apprentice designers learn the trade from other designers as well. But this is no normal branch. Para Bellum also functions to serve the wielders in the city. For them, it functions as headquarters for fighting against the demons and monsters that terrorize the city. Wielders are able to pick from a wide variety of missions varying on type and difficulty. To be a member of Para Bellum, Wielders need to get themselves registered as well as their weapons. The registration process makes it so that wielders get their rewards, prevents theft of their Arma Vivere, as well as ascertaining that no demons get their hands on one should a wielder fall in battle. Unregistered wielders and weapons are treated as high priority targets as they are deemed a threat to the possibility of peace in Vesper, and the rewards for their arrest or their termination are sometimes as high as high-ranking demons or monsters depending on the severity of their offenses. Weapons also are considered valuable members of Para Bellum and are treated as such. It is here where Arma Vivere are brought to undergo maintenance with their designers, or with specialists should their designer have passed away, is otherwise unavailable, or if they are Magnum Opus. Para Bellum also has a directory of shops in town that recognized by the organization for their dedication to selling Arma Vivere, both new and old.

                                                  DEMONS & MONSTERS
Very little is known about the motives of the demons and monsters as they sort of function on the notion of causing as much chaos as possible and leaving not much time for questions. What has been ascertained though is that the Demons are in positions of power and the Monsters do their bidding since most of them are incapable of speaking let alone complex plans to annihilate the human race in Vesper. Informants say that there's more than just destruction on their minds, but what could they possibly be after?

                                                  GREETING COMMITTEE
There are demons....and then there are those in the Greeting Committee, who wish for what they call a "total globe reset." Little is known what they mean by that, but higher ups in Para
Bellum suspect that the GCs target is not just eradicating mankind, but ridding the turning the demon hierarchy on it's head. It is suspected that all demons in the GC are incredibly powerful.

                                            CONTRACTS
As mentioned previously, Arma Vivere do posses one small sense of agency. You can own then, but they don't have to let you use their weapon form, or hell, they don't have to make themselves useful in that form. Congrats, without its cooperation, you might as well be swinging a stick at your enemy. If you don't want to end up some blood-stain on the ground, its in your best interest that you're in good enough terms with your weapon no matter what tier. Contracts are the preferred method. They consist of a mutual agreement, a sacrifice, whatever it is to get your weapon to obey you, thus the importance of finding a weapon who suits your temperament. The one thing you can never use as leverage in a contract is a weapon's freedom. They are not people, they are objects to be bought and sold. Should a wielder break their contract with their weapon, the consequences rest solely in the hands on that weapon. Some wielders have lost their lives in this negligence.

                                            THE OLD TABOO
When Arma Vivere were first created, there was a rule placed upon wielders for them to not associate romantically with their weapons. Designers feared that wielders would be so taken with their weapon's human appearance that they would stop fighting all together. As time went on, this rule went unregulated, and Designers and Para Bellum began to care less about what Wielders did with their weapons. As far as they're concerned, no one is getting hurt at the end of the day. Some older families and generations still frown upon relations with Arma Vivere, but they can't do much more. It is no longer considered taboo, but a possibly that may or may not occur.

Oi! What's the deal with the Magnum Opus? I wanna make one, but all the slots are full. Can't you make an exception? Why won't you accept my reserve for it?
Ahahaha! Magnum Opus are the best of the best weapons in the world of Para Bellum, but they're really freaking old. On top of that, they didn't originally come from Vesper. They would have needed to be shipped across the sea for them to even be there, and let me tell you, their origin countries probably weren't happy to part with 5 of them, so no way will there ever be more than five in the rp, unless its plot related or someone found something REALLY freaking unique. Why are there no modern firearms as magnum opus? The last Magnum Opus created was 200 years back and that last person died! No way for a Magnum Opus of a newer weapon to be around if the people were dead before they were invented. The knowledge of how to make them is gone! Current designers are working on creating new Magnum Opus, but all results have ended in FAILURE. Why I didn't accept your Magnum Opus? Please check the current Magnums created. If it's too similar to something already reserved or in play, I'm sorry but no : )

I want to make a certain kind of weapon, but someone is already using it! Can I not be it?
Guess what? You can : D
There can be multiple Arma Vivere and Knock-offs of the same type! So, you're good. You just gotta keep your character unique.

Can I be a wielder and be my own Arma Vivere?
Ideally, no. The point of this is to rp with other people, so you should be having a buddy to play your weapon. That person will rp your AV and fight along side your character, till of course s**t gets too real and your character needs the extra umph. At that point, communicate with your buddy and they "should" have their character turn to weapon form and then you write out the rest. The only exception to this is for plot or if you want to have an AV that's not in the weapon's post destroyed. Any other questions, please pm me!

                                            Can designers own Arma Vivere?
                                            Hell yes!

Hey wait a minute...if Magnum Opus cost so much, how can any of us have them? How can they be our weapon buddies?
Well if you are a bad a** wielder, you would have been rewarded accordingly. Depending on the things you've killed or help killed, you should have enough money to buy one. That's not the only way! Wielder Families could have also kept one that keeps getting passed down. So consult our lovely MOs and ask if they would like to do that as a possible option for weapons history : D

How many attacks can weapons have? How powerful can they be?
Both of these depend on your weapon's tier. Regarding power and types of attack, if I have a problem with what you have, you'll be spoken to, but other than that, please try to be creative and REMEMBER your weapon type.
                                            Magnum Opus - 8-10 abilities
                                            Arma Vivere - 6 abilities
                                            Knock offs - 4

Can Wielders have more than one Arma Vivere?
You bet. Ideally I would like there to be more pairings of one wielder to one weapon, but let's face it, this isn't a perfect world.

Greetings Vesperians, this is Lilith White with your news at the top of the hour. The date is SUNDAY, JULY 23rd and the current time is 1:00pm. The skies over Vesper are currently clear, with the occasional cloud blowing through. It is currently 80 degrees out and looks to be a lovely day.

Reported earlier, Para Bellum has shared vital information that has shaken the organization and city to its core. As mentioned earlier by our PB correspondent, Oliver Spades, Para Bellum has sought it fit to alert the community that the closely guarded secret of Arma Vivere construction has been leaked. While this may not seem like much of a concern, it has far greater ramifications than the creation of Knock-off tier weapons. This breech in the code of Designers is said to put us in perilous position. The fear is that this one leak can cause a multitude of others, which if does occur could put knock-off classified weapons with Arma Vivere durability and strength into more hands. Para Bellum will be unable to keep track of who makes these weapons or who wields them, making the fear very real that a demon may get his or her hands on one. Should the public know any information regarding the Designer's Underground Movement, they are encouraged to contact Para Bellum.

Due to the news of the Designer's Underground, city officials have placed us at a HIGH ALERT. Demon and monster activity is at an all time high. It is advised that citizens stay indoors today until Registered Wielders have cleared out the streets of the more dangerous foe.
