Seith

The Sage of Spirit

Seith sighed a breath of disappointment when Link said that he'd have to wait. this woman wished to test Link's skill and he seemed happy to oblige her. he looked to Kyrie who seemed more then happy her mask was whole again. with a smile he sat back in thin air as he crossed his arms. Seith's gaze drifted over each of the people here as his book appeared in his hands. he smiled to himself as he began to write everything he was learning down. even if Seith did not get involved with their fight or even have them explain their situation, he could piece together more than enough from simply watching their expressions and movements. these temples also interested Seith, remembering well those Midna spoke about when Ganon got lose during her time here. perhaps he would find more items of interest to add to his collection if he continued to observe. of course, only time would tell.

When the clash happened between the two, the shiekah began her rant on how the boy was fighting, and when he responded by taking her advice, she nodded. Good, perhaps this wouldn't be as awful as she expected, but he still had a bit to go to prove himself. And with that thought, a deku nut was produced and thrown to the ground. As she hid in the trees above, she couldn't help but to grin when she sensed the assurance in the boy's mind. He had fallen right into her trap.

It was clear from his thought processes that she had made a mistake, revealing her position. But what he didn't know was the woman was moving in time with the wind that blew through the trees, before she decided to attack. And so, from a completely different spot where the boy had thought, the woman lunged forth from the tree, attacking from behind. Whether he whipped around and blocked, or took the attacks, Izumi merely continued to attack. Just a bit more, she thought as she continued her assault.

O.o.c: ........that was horrible D: so sorry for the short post, next post, im ending the fight scene!

Link was glad to see Izumi's nod at the approval of him using his shield. It was a bit easy to forget at times. When battling monsters filled with stupidity, a simple slash of his sword would be the end of them, and he would only need to use his shield if there was a mob of them. However, even with one person, a shield would be necessary, especially against a strong, smart Sheikah like Izumi. He kept this in mind and held a firm grip on the shield. Link then realized something a bit odd about the whole duel. Rather than just a test and simple duel, Izumi seemed to be teaching him and helping him as well, but why? As far as he could tell, the Sheikah hardly wanted him around. Not that he was complaining. He ignored the thoughts, forcing himself to concentrate more. There was no time for analyzing right now. He could figure it out after the duel was over.

Link tried to remember the words Izumi had mentioned earlier, about using his senses. Sight wouldn't do much help. She was blended in too well to spot. Smell, taste, and feel were also unnecessary. That only left his hearing. He was overconfident with his previous examination of the area Izumi came from, but could there be more to it? Izumi wasn't the type to act so carelessly and reveal her position. There had to be more. He listened a bit closer to the surrounding area and became aware of a gentle rustling of the wind. He strained a bit to listen closer and heard a barely audible rustling along with it. She had been moving the whole time. It was impossible to pick up exactly where she was. The wind threw him off. Was she with it? Against it? Changing directions to confuse him further? His plan had been ruined at this new realization, but he would have to be ready. He thought over her reminders once more and prepared himself for whatever direction she may come from, listening very carefully.

When he finally heard a slight rustle he knew she was attacking. Link wasn't sure what direction till she landed. He quickly spun around, but not before he got a cut in the back of his tunic. He was unsure if it was bleeding or not, but it didn't matter, he didn't have time to think about it like last time. Right as he spun around he met her oncoming attacks with his shield, like she had previously told him, then jumped to his right made a swift, precise swing towards her left arm, though without too much strength, so if it landed it would merely make a small cut. After the swing he continued to match her attacks with his sword. He didn't have enough time to pull up his shield. If he tried, her attacks would certainly hit him.

As the boy grabbed the hylian shield on his back, the sheikah woman nodded and quickly spun the sword with a flick of her wrist, trying to stay focused. The boy could make a move to attack at any moment, she had to be prepared for anything. Now the question was, would he come up with some sort of tactic to take her down? So far it seemed he didn't exactly know what he was doing, just simply swinging his sword about... however, he was showing a bit of promise.. He wasn't severely injured after all. But his performance so far was pitiful. If he was indeed the goddess's hero, he had a long way to go.

So it was time to change the game. In a flash, the woman was gone, and was giving the boy hints on how to find her. Strange, why was she helping? Wasn't she determined to prove he wasn't the hero? As she hide in the brush of a nearby tree, the woman stared down at the quickly turning man and narrowed her eyes slightly before she continued on. After a few moments of constantly moving about in the trees to confuse his senses, the woman sprung forth in an attack... However, she couldn't help but to smirk when the blade sliced through cloth. Whether it landed or not didn't matter, the fact he wasn't able to stop the attack immediately was enough for her ego.

But when he whipped around and started blocking, Izumi couldn't help but to grin slightly, showing she was having a bit of fun too. Again, he was showing progress. When he suddenly moved, she quickly turned her blade to his attack, only to feel warmth come forth to her forearm. When she felt her sleeve wetten lightly, she blinked in confusion only to see he had managed to get a hit. A very small hit, but it was enough to cause her to bleed lightly, which was a feat not very many could say. And with that, another grin came to her face as she jumped back once more, creating another gap. "Enough." She snapped, as her crimson eyes scanned over the boy for a few moments before she suddenly sheathed her sword.

Moments ticked by as she glanced over at the princess, seeing Zelda had been looking at her, waiting for her answer, before the sheikah to look back to the boy. "Your fighting style is weak, you need to improve on your stance, and your shield use. There was many times that you could have avoided my attacks." She started as she crossed her arms, and allowed her eyes to close. "But... you have potential." She said before opening her eyes once more and allowed her eyes to gaze upon his left hand. "There is one final test though." She said as she suddenly moved towards the boy once more and nodded to his hand. "Let me see your hand."

Link caught the slight grin that had slipped on Izumi's face. At the sight of this he couldn't help from letting a small smirk appearing on his own. The blocking went on for a bit before he made his move. At this point he wasn't certain whether it would hit or not. Though when she went to attack, he quickly blocked, still on his guard. He then noticed she was looking at her forearm, and had a chance to see that he had finally managed to land a small cut on her forearm. At least a mark to prove he was actually getting somewhere. He probably should've used her small break in concentration to catch her off guard and attack, but for some reason he didn't. Although only a small wound, he was glad to have even managed to strike the quick Sheikah.

When Izumi leaped backwards and spoke he stopped immediately. Link wasn't sure if this meant the battle was over, or if it was just time for another test of his skills. Only when the Sheikah sheathed her sword was he certain it was over. He did the same, slipping the silver blade back into it's sheath and adjusting his shield to his back. At this point he realized that he was breathing heavier than normal, though he hadn't noticed it before. Moments went by as he waited for Izumi to speak. He couldn't speak if he wanted to. He allowed his breathing to calm down. He felt that the cut in his tunic had also broke his skin, and now felt the warmth of the blood in his back, and it still remained in the upper part of his right arm. He both began to feel the stinging in each cut. He ignored it, staring expectantly at the Izumi, his breathing now at a steady, normal rate.

When she spoke it was more insults and tips to improve. Despite this, Link didn't argue or snap back. Simply nodded, taking in her tips and thinking over the moments he could've used his shield more often. It was true. If he had used it in the case with his arm, he would've have been cut. Not that he could change that now. He expected this meant defeat. Although he had tried to prove himself. It wasn't enough. Well, what else should he have suspected? He couldn't match up to a personal guard of the Royal Family. Even if he managed to land a cut on her. However when Izumi spoke he was surprised. He had... potential? Link went over the sentence a few times in his head. So, it wasn't over? A flood of relief washed over him and a soft sigh escaped his lips.

Link blinked in surprise when she said there was a final test. He reached towards his sword, expecting to face another tactic that might be used against him in battle, but instead she seemed to nod in the direction he was reaching for his sword. Yet, he knew it wasn't intended to be gesturing at the sword. When she spoke and moved closer to him it only confirmed it. He stopped reaching for his sword and slightly clenched his fist. Confused, he looked down at his hand. The symbol he had grown so adjusted to on his hand was different somehow. He was hesitant to show her the symbol that he himself knew nothing about, but if she wanted to see it, she must have a reason. Besides, if he hesitated any longer she might grow impatient with him. He lifted his hand slightly toward her, his palm facing the ground, the symbol obvious on the back of his hand.

As the fight came to a close, Izumi merely let out a silent sigh, allowing her body to finally relax after the short bout between her and the boy. It was still surprising that he had managed to land a single blow on her, which was something most of the guards could not do when they had to prove their worth. As he moved his sword and shield back onto his back, the sheikah's cold red gaze watched closely, before she finally spoke, practically criticizing his work. To the others, she probably would come off harsh and hateful, but to the woman, she was simply giving advice to him. Ganondorf wouldn't show any mercy towards him after all, and would use those weaknesses against him in a heartbeat. But.. the opportunity of becoming greater was there. Of course, she wasn't about to just allow him to join along in their quest because he had a chance of being a good swordsman.

Her chilling gaze shifted towards the princess once more and allowed the girl's previous words to come forth in her head once more. She was hoping he was the goddess's chosen hero. And if he was, there was only one way to find out. Once more, she spoke, only to watch in wonder as the boy motioned for his blade once more. "You have proven your worth in battle. There is only one way to accomplish this last test. And that is to let me see your hand." She repeated, before walking towards him. When he finally agreed and held out his hand, Izumi gently took the boy's hand in her right one and looked down at the back of the hand. However, what she saw wasn't exactly what she had expected.

And for the first time, the woman showed a reaction more than a simple smirk. A look of shock appeared on her face as she stared down at the glowing triforce, before she suddenly released his hand. Her red eyes quickly turned to meet the blues of the man before she quickly turned to meet the gaze of the princess. "I..." She started before clearing her throat slightly. "Your highness... It's him, Zelda." She said simply before turning back, her expression now serious. "What's your name?" She said suddenly before taking a step back from him.

Zelda~Princess on the Run

Letting out all the air that had been held during the fight, Zelda let out a sigh of relief that it was over. No, it was not the most intense fight that the princess had ever witnessed, but she enjoyed seeing Link learn as the battle went on. Izumi was right...the boy was very weak. Zelda had always pictured the Hero chosen by the goddesses to be amazing in combat. After all, the sacred blade was called the Master Sword for a reason, right? Was Link's possession of the sword just a fluke?
Izumi gave Link some advice on what he needed to work on, and Zelda tried her best to hide her smile when Izumi saw potential in the young travler. The Sheikah had one last test for Link, apparently, which had to do with his hand. The woman inspected Link's hand, and turned to Zelda in shock. Only select members of the Royal Family, Izumi included, knew what a strange symbol on the back of one's left hand meant. While the Triforce was nothing but a bedtime story to the people of Hyrule, two people in this forest knew very well of the reality of the divine relic. If Link had a triangle on the back of his left hand, he may indeed posses a piece of the wish-granting object of the gods, the Triforce.
"He..." Zelda was only able to let out that single word before she ran up to the man in green and moved her hands slowly around his wounds. The magic Zelda possessed allowed her to completely seal up both Link's skin and fabric, making it appear that he had never been harmed in the first place. After Link's wounds were treated, she did the same to her caretaker. This healing was relatively quick compared to the magic she used on Kyrie, whose wounds had been much, much worse.
"Ma'am," Zelda thought, using telepathy to silently communicate with Izumi. "Thank you for testing him. I thought my Triforce piece was reacting earlier to him, but I only have a single shard on me. It is not powerful enough to locate another piece. You are certain his mark is real?"

Link didn't resist when she gently took his hand to inspect it. He too stared at the symbol on the back of his hand. Three triangles placed perfectly together with only the tips touching to form a larger triangle. As his eyes danced over the three, he noticed the thing that had been different. It should have been obvious to him before. The triangle on the bottom right had a faint golden glow. He looked up at Izumi, hoping to find an answer in her expression, but all he found was shock. He was slightly surprised when she suddenly released his hand and looked briefly into his eyes before averting her gaze. His hand would have fallen easily to his side, but instead he held it in front of him to examine himself. This reaction was new. Something different that he hadn't expected. Although the glow it left of was faint, it was there. He allowed his hand to fall back to his side as he heard Izumi speaking to Zelda.

Link carefully watched Izumi's expression as she spoke to the princess, but it was impossible to tell what they were talking about. The words she used were general and could mean anything. Anxious, he spoke. "What do you mean by... him?" He asked, almost hesitant. However, when the Sheikah's eyes returned to him, her expression had turned from the look of shock to a look of grave seriousness. He didn't speak a word as silence hung in the air briefly before she spoke. Asking his name. He blinked at the simpleness of the question. He'd been expecting something much more severe. Perhaps something about the mark on his hand, which of course he would've been unable to answer and only look like a fool. At this simple question, he was relieved. He wasn't sure much help a name would give her, but he thought it best just to answer the question. "Link." He replied.

Zelda's sudden run towards them surprised him, though he understood when she began to move her hands around his wounds. She was healing him. He had forgotten them in the hope that he would learn something about the mark on his hand, but now that he thought about them, the stinging was brought back. However, the gentle blue aura that illuminated from the princess's hands lifted the stinging from his wounds. When she was finished he looked at where the wounds had been, touching them gently, but feeling nothing, and seeing nothing either. The tears in his tunic were completely nonexistent as well as the blood and wounds. He felt relieved and even less tired than before. "Your magic is amazing." He said in awe, watching as she healed the cut in Izumi's forearm. The only place he had managed to land a hit on her. Of course it would be healed like it never happened, just like she had healed his.

Once her crimson eyes had laid upon the one and only triforce symbol on the boy's hand, Izumi quickly turned towards the princess, as if letting her know it was really him. After she spoke, she heard the boy speak, asking what she had meant as she took a step back. However, she said nothing as the princess rushed over to see if what the sheikah had said was indeed true. Moments ticked by before he finally answered her question, causing a small grin to appear on her face. "Mm, of course it is." She said, chuckling lightly as Zelda began her magic.

The sheikah was quiet once more as she watched the princess begin to heal the hero, before turning to her. Nodding lightly in gratitude, she simply held her arm out for the girl to preform on her arm, and simply watched as the blood began to seep back into her arm before the small wound and sliced cloth began to close. "Thank you, your grace." She said from habit, only to feel the princess connect to her telepathically. 'Of course, your highness. I would not allow just anyone to follow along in our quest.' She said back, before hearing the final question. You are certain his mark is real? A few seconds ticked by as she crossed her arms and closed her eyes slowly. 'Yes. We have studied the triforce as long as I can even remember. The fact that you are reacting to this boy, Link, means something... and he has the master sword. You cannot say all of this is coincidence.'

Finally, she turned towards the boy after glancing to the princess, only to see that Link had still been waiting on her to answer his original question. "Congratulations, Link. You have passed the tests." She said with calm expression as she kept her arms crossed over her chest. "But there is something you need to know. Not only was I testing your skills in battle, but I was trying to see if you were the legendary man... And you have passed both. Even though you do not realize it, you have proven yourself to be the one and only hero of time."

Zelda~Princess on the Run

The princess' sky blue eyes widened as Link complimented her on her healing spell. The only people who had ever complimented her on her magic were Izumi and the royal mages. "I know." she said boastfully. "I can do a lot more than closing wounds though! I can give you a second wind if you're out of breath, create fire, shield you, telepo-...I...um, th-thanks Link." she then muttered, catching herself. "Just please block more often? I'm not made of magic, you know!"

Zelda gave a tiny grin to her caretaker as she was thanked for her healing. The blue aura from Zelda's hands then disappeared, but Zelda looked a bit tired. While the wounds she healed on Link and Izumi were no problem, the massive amont of damage Zelda had partially undone on Kyrie had taken a lot out of her. All she wanted was a warm bath and to sleep...

"Amazing...so he really does posses the Triforce of Courage. That piece has been missing from the Family for so long, and to think that it is in this boy. Ma'am, perhaps we can use his Triforce to look for the shards of mine? Father split the Triforce of Wisdom before his death, but I do not know where they are hidden." she replied mentally back to Izumi.

"I think Mr. Hero here is a bit overwhelmed, Izumi." Zelda said with a smirk, her hands on her hips. "Seriously, this is a lot to take in, and it's been...well, quite the day. The sooner we find this temple, the better. It's nearing twilight, and that wretched man knows our location. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he burned the Faron Woods down just to find us again."

the battle between Link and Izumi seemed to have come to an end with the sheikah giving Link pointers on how to better his fighting. he had written down what he wished while studying the small duel giving Seith a bit more insight on these two. once Zelda mentioned they should find the temple before twilight, Seith looked around casually. "tell me child, do you truly believe this forest can be burned down. after all the incidents that have befallen this forest has only seem to flourish." he looked towards the three standing together as he gently moved up and down from his levitating. "besides, now that this little duel is over i would like to fulfill the bargain conducted between both Link and myself." he then paused for a moment before bowing at Zelda. "unless her 'Majesty' is going to banish a guest to her lands?"

Kyrie had watched the battle intently, hoping for Link to do well. He had done better than anyone had expected, and she couldn't help but smile when Izumi said he had passed her tests. Elated, Ky went to stand up, before she was struck with a sudden realization - the Shiekah was only interested in people that could be of use to her. Once they reached the temple, Ky feared that Izumi would send her away from the troupe. Ky looked at Link sadly from underneath her mask. During the fight, she had put it back on her face, to better avoid people trying to see what she was thinking.

Recomposing herself, Ky stood slowly and walked over to Link, touching his arm softly and smiling up at him. "I suppose that this means that the Dark Lord was right," She whispered, her voice pained slightly. "That's okay though, because I would rather be on your team that his, any day." Ky looked at Izumi, studying her for a moment. She seemed pleased in an odd sort of way. Ky frowned slightly, then sighed, relaxing. She hoped Link wouldn't let this crazy woman banish her after she brought them to the temple.

"I suppose I did promise to lead everyone to the temple, and Zelda is right - we should get there before dark if we can - it would be easier to defend ourselves there, from both the Wood and the Minions that Ganondorf is sure to send after us, now that he knows we're here. It's not far from here anyway." Ky walked away from Link, slightly, to the West, the direction that the sun was slowly starting to set in. She undid her mask and tied it back to the top of her hat, looking at each face in turn.

"We need to go now, though. We don't have a minute to waste - dark things are starting to stir in the East, and theyll follow the sun until it's down, at which point they'll take over the Woods. Stalfo's are most unpleasant. I promise." Ky motioned for everyone to follow her, not that she expected them not to. She had only gotten a few steps away, when she heard Seith's comment to Zelda. Already frustrated, she turned and walked back to the group, stepping between Seith and Zelda before either of them could fight further.

"Okay, children," Her musical voice hissed as she placed her hands on her hips, looking sternly from one to the other. "As long as I'm leading the way, there will be NO fighting, or I'll be the one to banish the one that starts. I'll let the Wood have you, and I can promise that you will not find your way out." She frowned at Zelda slightly, as if daring the young princess to try to stop her. This was the Skull Kid's playground, and her ball game. There would be no point for the others to argue, because they would just get lost. Ky knew she'd won this battle. Turning on her heel again, she headed back towards the West, not really caring if anyone followed her.

When Izumi spoke and chuckled when he said his name he felt at ease. He hadn't gotten a response to his previous question, but he didn't really have any right eavesdropping on their conversation either, so it's not like he deserved an answer. Link decided just to forget about it. If it was important it would surely be brought up later.

After the intense battle, the mood had grown lighter, which allowed him to relax, especially since his wounds were now healed. Link couldn't help but let out a small chuckle when Zelda began to talk so proudly about her magic. When she stopped and thanked him he smiled a bit. "No, thank you, and I'm looking forward to seeing some of your other magic." He replied honestly. He nodded when she said to block more often. "I'm sure Izumi will keep reminding me." He said, giving a slight smirk to the Sheikah. Often her tips had been about blocking more and the use of his shield.

A few moments of an awkward silence hung in the air before Izumi turned to him. He stiffened slightly, expecting that this would be the answer that would determine if he would be able to continue travelling with them. Although they were no longer fighting, his nerves were only at ease when she confirmed he had passed the tests. When she said "but" he tensed but held a calm expression. Link blinked in surprise. So he had proven himself, but the labels she used were strange. "Legendary man? Hero of time?" He said softly aloud. Apparently he had proven himself to these wonderful names. Of course, he should be proud, but he felt somehow that he didn't deserve them. How could his hand, or his name change the Sheikah's opinion from seconds ago? Or before, when he was unable to even protect Kyrie. Link said nothing of his doubt. He should be happy to have met the expectations of 'the hero of time' that everyone had been talking so greatly of.

Only when Kyrie touched his arm did he snap out of his unpleasant thoughts. Seeing her smiling face brought a weak smile onto his. When she spoke of Ganon being right and the slight pain in her voice caused the uneasiness to recollect. The horrid moments from not long ago replayed in his mind. His failure to protect her. Ganon over and over again calling him the 'hero'. So he now met the Dark Lord's description of him too? Wonderful. He forced himself not to think negatively and found himself smiling again when Kyrie spoke of being on 'his team'. So, did being the 'hero of time' mean that it was him against Ganon now? He wasn't positive, but whatever the case, he felt more relaxed with Kyrie by his side. "I'm glad you are too. I don't think I could ever bring myself to fight you." He replied with a soft smile. He was truly glad that she was on his side and not that of Ganon.

Link nodded in agreement with both Zelda and Kyrie. "The woods can be a very dangerous place at night, and it's even easier to get lost in. With the Moblin camp nearby and the rising Stalfos, we won't stand much of a chance if we get separated." He remembered once when he had gone into the woods as a child. He had went to the place he always had in the woods and fell asleep in the warmth of the sunlight. When he awoke, the woods seemed like a completely different place. The paths he had taken to get there led to an unfamiliar section of the forest. His sense of direction was thrown off in the panic and he could hear a strange clinking of what sounded like armor and bones. Several times he believed he saw red eyes in the bushes. He had been lucky enough to escape, and when he described them to the Kokiri, they called them Stalfos.

Link heard Seith's resistance, since he still wanted to inspect his sword, and was relieved when Kyrie stepped in and stopped any argument that might've occurred between the princess and the Twili. He chuckled lightly at her proud but stern attitude. He approached Seith and pulled his sword from his Sheath, gently setting in the Twili's hands. Ever since the man had healed Kyrie's mask he had no doubt in him and no reason not to trust him. "Here, you can inspect in on the way to the temple if you wish." He said, hoping this would prevent any further objections from heading to the temple. If they did come across any Stalfos or Moblins he might have to interrupt his inspection briefly, but he hoped that wouldn't happen. The day had been long and he was growing tired.

Link whistled a soft, brief, but melodic tune. Epona had been near during the encounter with Ganondorf, so he assumed they hadn't strayed too far from her. Soon enough the sound of gentle hooves met the ground and she approached Link. He couldn't very well leave his companion behind to face the Stalfos and other creatures of the night. He pulled a carrot from his pouch and she quickly accepted it. He laughed lightly, gently petting her nose. She wouldn't be able to travel far into the temple, but as long as she was close to it, monsters probably wouldn't come near. Link hurried to catch up to Kyrie and looked back at the other three. "So, are you guys coming?" He asked with a playful grin. Epona walked calmly behind them.

After the battle had been said and done, the sheikah went back to her usual expression, showing nothing but calmness. As the others began to talk, Izumi was simply quiet once more as she took another step back, only to chuckle lightly when she heard the princess began to take pride in her abilities, before cutting off to tell Link to use his shield. When the hero turned to her and said she would keep reminding him, she simply nodded to the boy. "If you would like, we can train again some other time." She said simply, before Zelda began healing her arm. When the girl was done, the sheikah was quick to notice that she was tired from all the healing, and quickly reminded herself to watch extra carefully over the princess.

Once more, she felt Zelda connect to her mind, and simply looked towards the princess slightly. 'But of course, your highness. However, I believe it would be wise to inform him of who he is before speaking of the shards. It's clear he doesn't even realize the vital role he is to play.' She answered back, before the Zelda went on to explain they needed to keep moving. Much like Link, the sheikah simply nodded. "Agreed. We can tell you more about who you are when we are in safer woods." She said glancing towards Link, only to glare towards the Twili. To her, this man was quickly becoming a nuisance, but luckily the young skull child stepped in.

As the fight was quickly taken care of and the master sword handed over to the Twili, Izumi said nothing more as she stayed close to the princess's side as the group began to travel towards the forest temple. Hopefully nothing bad would happen to the group, but the young sheikah knew that was simply just hopeful wishing.
