David smiled brightly and nodded. "Wonderful! Let's head out so that I don't get you back here too late."

He put his coffee mug in the sink and then led Mr. Coltaire out to his pickup. He got in, waited for Coltaire, then started the old beat-up but awesome truck up. A few minutes of bumpy roads later and they were in front of the 2-story white farm house. David got out of the truck, the rusty door squeaking, a sound that had come to bring comfort to David, and he walked Mr. Coltaire up to the house and through the side door. He took off his shoes in the back porch and then led Mr. Coltaire into the kitchen. There was a small table that seated 4 people there. At the counters, Sarah was cleaning the wood of the counters in her apron. She looked adorable to David.

He went over to her and surprised her by leaning in behind her and kissing her cheek. When she giggled and turned around to playfully slap David's shoulder, she stopped herself when she saw someone new in her kitchen. She immediately went to trying to push stray strands of her hair back into the clips and then nodded and smiled warmly at the man.

David put his arm around Sarah and gestured over to Mr. Coltaire. "Sarah, this is Mr. Coltaire, the guidance counselor at the high school and new assistant leader in 4H. Mr. Coltaire, this is my wife Sarah. Sarah, Mr. Coltaire is here to see the roster of 4H."

Sarah smiled again at Mr. Coltaire. "Hello Mr. Coltaire. I'll go and get the roster quickly. Please sit down."

David thanked Sarah and kissed her cheek again before she quickly hurried off. David gestured to the kitchen table. "Mr. Coltaire, can I offer you some coffee, water, or tea? We also have some wonderful chocolate chip cookies that Sarah made tonight if you are interested."

((lol!! I was going to wait for Mitsuki to post again before I posted as Reed, but I'll go ahead and do it. smile It'll be short, but that's ok!))

Reed laughed from inside the bathroom when she heard her sister. She hardly ever beat Akira in a race! Reed just must have really wanted a hot shower and so ran faster than normal.

"I'll see you when I get out, Akiraaaa..." She lightly sang the last letter of Akira's name, giggled once more, and then set about undressing and getting into the wonderfully warm shower.

"Oh, I don't want to put you to any trouble." Foster said quickly, holding up his hands.

((... I should have just kept going. LOL!!))

David chuckled and shook his head. "No no. You served me some great coffee at your place. It's only fair that I return the favor."

Sarah had already made some coffee, expecting her husband home soon, so he got 2 mugs and saucers out, filled the mugs with coffee, got the chocolate chips out of the fridge, put 2 cookies on each saucer, and brought everything over to the table in 2 trips. He put Foster's coffee and cookies down in front of him first, of course.

And just when David put his own mug of coffee and cookies down in front of him and sat down, Sarah came back into the kitchen with papers in her hands. She smiled at the two men again before putting the papers in front of David, kissing his cheek, smiling once more, and then leaving the room to let the men do their business undisturbed.

David had thanked Sarah before carefully picking up the glossy pieces of paper. The first one he showed to Foster was of last year's 4H team. It had the same leaders in it that were leaders this year, but it did not have all of the correct children and some of the children in that picture had not returned this year because they graduated or moved away. However, since this year's group had only met once, there was no photo of the current group. So earlier before he went to Foster's house, he had gotten last year's photo, Reed and Akira's yearbooks, and a few newspaper clippings from the other surrounding schools. With all of those things, he had all the faces of the new members in the group that he could show Foster.

David held out last year's group photo out toward Foster and started pointing out the other three leaders in the group. He didn't know if Foster knew them already since all three were parents of current students, but David wanted to point them out anyway, just in case.

While her father was doing this, Reed had finally finished with her long shower, putting lotion on her body, and brushing her teeth. There was one thing she had apparently forgotten, though...

Clothes. In her rush to been her sister to the bathroom, she had forgotten that her pajamas were not in the bathroom. They were still in her room. Well, she had wrapped a towel around her before to walk around the house. Not often because her dorky older brother would jokingly tease her about it, but she had worn just a towel a few times in many cases like this one.

She also had to go downstairs to get her backpack with her homework in it. She had left it by the side door when she and her sister and rushed into the door after seeing their goats the first time. The upstairs bathroom was halfway between hers and Akira's bedroom and the stairs. It would just be faster to go downstairs and then come back upstairs to dress in her pajamas.

So, Reed got one of the longer and fluffier light blue towels out from the bathroom cupboard, wrapped her around it, knotted it at her breastbone, and opened the bathroom door. A billow of steam followed behind her and some of the water was still dripping from her hair, even though she had towel dried it as best she could, but she didn't care. She'd mostly be walking on carpet that would absorb the clean water.

Reed lightly walked along the hallway to the stairs, flitted down the stairs as if she was as light as a fairy, and stopped by the side door. Her backpack was right where she had left it. With one of her hands on the knot of the towel, she bent her knees just enough so that she could reach her bag but not enough to cause the towel to ride too far up, just in case one of her family members was in the kitchen behind her. And her father was obviously in the kitchen because she heard him clear his throat and then say..

"Reed, sweetie?"

Reed put a smile on her face and turned around to look at her father. Maybe he had something to tell her about his meeting with Mr. Coltaire....

Oh... dear.... God...

Mr. Coltaire. Mr. Coltaire was sitting at her kitchen table. Mr. Coltaire was eating their cookies and drinking their coffee beside her father. Mr. Coltaire.... could see her in her towel, and just her towel!

Reed gasped, dropped her bag, which landed on one of her feet and caused her to wince, and threw both of her hands up to the top of the towel. Then, out of pure horror, she shrieked and ran as quickly up the stairs as she could, to her and Akira's room, and slammed the door shut behind her.

David had a small smile on his face, put his hand to his forehead, and shook his head slowly as a deep chuckle came from him. "Oh dear. Looks like Reed will be mortified for a few hours. I'm sorry about that, Mr. Coltaire."

David would normally never laugh at the embarrassment of one of his children, but he knew how temporary this incident was, how minute it was. Reed would get over it and it was not that big of deal. Her reaction had been the biggest surprise, and he couldn't help but laugh at the complete shock and horror in her eyes.

Akira, who by now, had been laying on her bed and playing DS, literally fell out of her bed and onto the floor with a loud thump noise and a yelp, when she heard her older sister's shriek of horror. Then, as she sat up, her eyes closed hard, she yelped again when Reed suddenly slamed the door closed.

"Woah!!?? What-what's wrong!!???" Akira asked, bewirled and sore, as she opened her eyes.

Reed was in a towel...? Oh, since she rushed to the bathroom 1st, it was only normal she'd have no clothes with her, but then...Why was her older sibling so mortafied??

Reed's face was so bright red. Probably the brightest red it had ever been. She had one of her hands covering her face and she was shaking her head in disbelief. She couldn't utter much.

"Downstairs... Dad... Just went to go get my backpack... Which I just realized I left down there again... Mr. Coltaire..."

She threw her hand from her face and looked at Akira in absolute horror. "Mr. Coltaire was sitting at the kitchen table with dad when I went downstairs in my towel! He saw me in just my towel!"

Akira's eyes widened, as she listened to her sister stutter, then speak clearly. She jumped to her feet and walked over.

"Your not serious!!?? Omg...The guy your interested in saw you...In only your towel, when dad was there too...Oi...That's real tough, sorry sis..." she sympathized, grabbing Reed's pyjamas and handing them over to her.

((Ha! Poor Reed, but still...Ha!))

Foster had seen Reed flit in, his widening in surprise for a moment before he'd become suddenly obsessed with counting the lines in the table. He'd reached twenty seven before he'd heard her shriek and run out. Only then did he chance looking up agian, and lifted his mug in acceptance, a slight smile on his face. "Ah, it's no problem. I'm the youngest of four with three older sisters. They used to forget I was around too..." He said with an easy shrug, though he frowned a bit when he had to rub a hand over his chest, having felt a sudden heaviness. Maybe he should lay off the caffeine...

((I know! It's hilarious! lol!! I wish I had a character who could laugh about it, but I wanted to make a challenge for myself with this character. And oh no! Foster is having a heart attack! lol!))

David chuckled again and nodded. "I was a middle child of 5. I loved growing up in a big family, so I'm glad I had a big family as well."

He turned his head to look at where Reed had stood and noticed that her bag was still there. This caused him to just shake his head and laugh softly again. "She'll be back down soon, albeit more composed."

He would have taken it up to her, but he had things he had to show Mr. Coltaire before it got too late. So, he picked up the photo again and started pointing out names. When he was done with that, he picked up Akira's yearbook first and opened it up. Naturally, he went to his daughter first.

"This is my daughter Akira. She just joined 4H this year. Reed and I are so happy to have her join us. Some of Akira's classmates have joined us this year as well..."

He continued to point out the different children and their names for Mr. Coltaire.

Meanwhile, Reed had nodded to her sister and taken the pajamas she offered. "Thanks, Akira. I'm going to go get changed and then slowly walk back downstairs. I left my bag down there, of course, and I need to apologize to Dad and Mr. Coltaire for screaming like that."

Reed sighed, hung her head, and walked dejectedly over to the folded partition in the corner of their room to change into her pajamas.

Foster looked at the different faces, recognized a few. A couple had even been in his office a few times. Some had needed a bit of guidance about everyday life. But a couple others...he'd been worried about them. But maybe 4H could help.

((Oh awesome! I didn't even think about that. Another way for Foster to help kids he normally can't reach. smile That's really cool.))

After a few minutes, with her hair still wet, Reed squared her shoulders and slowly walked out of her room, down the hallway and, while biting her lip lightly, walked down the stairs. When she reached the 1st floor, she steeled herself as much as she could, turned around, and looked at the top of the kitchen table. She slowly walked over more toward the table, but she was finding it hard to meet anyone's gaze, even her father's. She'd glance up every few moments, but she couldn't seem to hold her gaze for very long.

"Hi Dad,... Mr. Coltaire. Mr. Coltaire, I am so sorry for my reaction earlier. It was highly improper and rude of me. I was very startled, but it was not the type of situation to warrant such an outburst. I apologize."

David smiled proudly at his daughter and then wrapped one of his strong arms around his daughter's waist. He pulled her to him, eliciting a small smile from her finally, and squeezed her slightly. It was very mature of her to say what she did and to make herself come back down and say it, but sometimes his daughter talked like a freaking dictionary. It wasn't necessarily bad, but he wished that she'd socialize with people her own age more often and pick up some of their mannerisms.

Raising a brow slightly at her choice of words, Foster nodded, managed a reassuring smile. "Oh, that's all right, kiddo. Those things happen...sometimes." He added, realizing how weird what he'd just said must've sounded. Like he normally visited children's houses and caught a peek at their almost-naked bodies in the kitchen...Because that would go over well when it came time to renew his contract with the school...
