Rin Yamano

Rin smiled, "As am I Father speaks fondly of your company's work Wayne-san," she said when he told her that he was glad that someone came, then again, it was only polite that someone came after the lengthy discussions their relative departments had. She had noted that although he seemed to hide it he was surprised by her obvious youth, but he seemed to have no intention of confirming exactly how old she was. That was fine with her though, many people didn't expect those still in their teens to be flying halfway around the world to attend business meetings, even if it was in someone else's absence. She had the qualifications and rapidly gaining experience, which were the important aspects. The fact that she was so young not only influenced her formality, as the phrase 'respect your elders' was held in much higher regard at home than it was here. but in some ways made her relieved her father couldn't come, as he sooner or later began referring to her as his little prodigy, unwittingly causing her embarrassment as she hastily omitted it.

She looked around as she followed Bruce to the meeting that she was obliged to attend, despite the playboy attitude turning out to be true, she could see that no expenses were spared within the company. The reception was classy yet aesthetically pleasing, and the security on the elevator made it clear that safety was a key priority, then again, no one could afford otherwise with the state that the city surrounding it was in. To be a good company in a town so full of corruption it was a high risk, but in some ways Rin was glad someone was willing to take that risk, as if enough good people gather together it is a key to saving the good people that lived in this town. But the first stage was always the hardest, that was something that Rin knew all too well. However, she made no comment about the matter

Snoring startled the sixteen-year-old awake and made her look around frantically for the source, only to be dismayed that it had been her, asleep on the job. Again. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she looked at the computer screen in front of her and ignored the others doing diagnostic checks on her systems. Ten windows with ten faces seperately on each had popped up and she examined them all thoroughly. She was surprised to see Bruce Wayne's and Harvey Dent's faces, and she immediately exitted out of Dent's window, leaving only Wayne's and eight other possibles. She highly doubted Wayne was him, but she just couldn't rule him out on a hunch. The others she hardly knew; some were up in Gotham's inner circle, while others were just some people that fit the profile she set up earlier.

Her stomach growled intensely, irritating her. She was on the edge of finding out who the Batman was, and all her body could think about was nourishment. She swivelled around in her wheelie chair and got up to go to her small kitchen, only to find that all she had left was a box of saltine crackers.

"It'll have to do," Her sleep-worn voice mumbled to herself.

The Joker grinned at Harley, listening to the goons climb into their vans, the engines humming almost impatiently, waiting for their cues. They‘d be waiting a while it seemed, with no silver or black vehicles in sight. At least, no fancy cars like the ones the big socialites drove, the only kind of car that was acceptable for this kind of scene. Looking back at Harley, his face determined. "Good choice," he murmured, stepping off the sidewalk, looking for a suitably expensive looking car to borrow. Spotting an attractive black convertible, he stood in the middle of the road, ensuring the driver had to stop. Sure, the driver could have chosen to knock him down instead, but that was half the fun of taking the chance. It seemed, however, that this guy had a conscience, and stopped with a screech. Motioning for Harley to take his place in the middle of the road, he approached the driver’s window, pulling a small black pistol from a pocket somewhere in his coat. He knocked on the window, noting the look of fear on the driver’s face upon recognition of the clown prince.

I‘m gonna borrow this," he stated calmly as the man rolled down his window. “Need to be somewhere and would you believe it? I crashed my truck.” He smiled at the garbled response, reached in to unlock the vehicle and wrenched the door open in a few fluid movements. “Knew you‘d understand.” Ignoring the man’s pleas, or what he assumed were pleas as they were just guttural sounds to him, he grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of the car, discarding him as though he were just a piece of trash before climbing into the driver’s seat and slamming the door shut. Frantically, he waved at Harley to get into the car, his expression a mixture of frustration and excitement.

Harley couldn't quite tell whether he was being sarcastic or not, but didn't sit on it for too long - they had work to be done. She crossed her arms, leaning to one side slightly as she watched him step into the road without a care. She admired his determination, but she didn't take after him - she'd been determined all her life. More so when she failed med school, and was fixed on getting the much wanted, and in her view, well deserved respect, maybe making some money out of it in the meantime. Then she met the Joker, and abandoned that dream when she felt he was the only one who actually respected her and listened to her. At least whilst at Arkham, and her infatuation was what mostly kept her at his side.

A grin curled the corners of her dark red lips when he'd found the perfect vehicle, skipping over with her hands behind her back when motioned over. She looked through the windshield at the driver, her grin widening and becoming a little more sadistic, and she winked, just for laughs, considering his situation. It wasn't long before she was being beckoned again, and quickly made her way around to the passenger's side; yanking the door open and throwing herself into the seat in her hurry, ending with a harsh slam of the door. She clutched the detonator in both her hands, absentmindedly twiddling and twirling it in her gloved fingers out of excitement, yet she was aware of the switch, if only subconsciously.

As she mowwed down on the crackers, she couldn't help but overanalyse Bruce Wayne's picture. He was a handsome man, indeed, although he was a bit...older.

"Not a bit," She told herself. "A lot," She sighed, her hand going to her forehead, giving her an animated look. "Men of that appeal are hard to come by in my position," She let out an angry sigh. "Will I ever find a man?" She mused, typing in a code to get his current location. A pop up appeared and she opened it. "Wayne Tower," The computer voice told her. And it was decided; she would go there and meet with him. But first, she hacked the system so she would have an appointment. It would have to be after a meeting, though..."Well, you can't win 'em all," She said, then donned her trenchcoat and stuffed a hand gun into one of the pockets and made her way out.

Bruce chuckled as they stepped in the elevator. "Really now?" The smirk stayed on his face. "I am glad to hear that. Likewise to you." He nodded in acknowledgement. In all truth, Bruce could not believe that his company was still as great as it was. After all the dumb things that idiot did until he took over the company brought it to a horrible condition. At least, it definatly was not where he would have liked it to be. The company seemed to have given up on Thomas Wayne once they heard that Bruce himself was "dead". A quiet chuckle escaped Bruce's mouth. Then again, it was partially his fault for leaving for seven years. By that time, he was of age to take over the company. What could Bruce say? He knew he was an idiot back then. ...Well, more of an idiot.

He leaned back on the sparkling, gold walls of the the elevator. The red velvet was too glamorous for just a major corporate headquarters but it had been put in years ago. It was another thing that was out of Bruce's control. Though, he hated the fact that they had wasted money on such an idiotic thing when they could have used it on helping the less fortunate in the Narrows or others. Bruce let out a sigh. "First big-time meeting." He started, turning his head towards Rin. "You must be nervous." Bruce smirked as he watched the numbers slowly rise.

Rin smiled, her words seemed to have hit the right impression, she had taken things very carefully since Kazuo had fallen ill, but then, although she hid it on occasion, caution and preparation were vital in the way of life she led. But that was a matter that had no bearing on her current situation.

"I have attended business meetings in the past, however, this is something much bigger than those I am used to." she admitted, "Before, it was mostly meetings within the company, I have taken calls on father's behalf from American and British business associates, but this is the first time I am speaking on behalf of the company abroad. To deny nervousness would be a lie, but either way, I am thankful for the opportunity to broaden my experiences." she stated calmly.

Bruce nodded, trying to hide his smile. He could not help it. Her extra efforts at being so formal were really amusing him. Bruce always found himself highly amused by the overly-formal people. Who knew, maybe it was because he never had to really try to impress someone by kindness before. People just wanted to be on money's side, and the one with the money was him so he didn't have to make an effort to get people to like him. Then again, even when he was traveling around the world in his early twenties, even as he was at the same level as the natives around him, he still treated those with authority with rudeness. Bruce began to think to himself. He had not really thought about it before. Was it because he respected the hard-working natives more than authority? Then what did he think about Gotham's citizens?

He shook his head to focus more on what the young japanese girl was saying. "Anyone would be thankful." He nodded. "I have to say, it's quite an achievement to be doing what you are doing at such an age. To be truthful, I respect that." Once again, he was just working on her good side. Maybe he just wanted to her to be more casual, especially since it was hard to take a person over ten years younger than him so seriously. It was also a bit of a shame. Maybe Bruce just wanted to her to breath lighter for the last ten floors they had left.

"I don't know too much japanese." He started changing the topic. "I heard it is really challenging to learn." Bruce placed his hands in his expensive black slacks.

Rin smiled, "True, one never stops learning if they don't stop trying after all." she replied, reading his expressions out of the corner of her eye, "That depends on the individual and the speed of which they learn of course," she said, "But the most formal speech is actually considered the easiest to remember by foreigners." she explained, "It is the fact that there is no common root between Japanese and European languages that makes people believe that it is difficult to learn. However, the fact that the Japanese use a lot of borrowed words, 'computer' for example, and the phonetic hiragana and katakana, makes it easier for foreigners to learn than Chinese." she explained. "Having said that, culture shock plays a large part of it. The Japanese have a much more rigid social structure than the west. I admit I have a tendency to carry over my formality even when I speak English, but my position combined with my upbringing has made it a habit."

She smiled as she thought about it, her manners and formality were probably disconcerting to those who were not used to it, but they were simply what was expected of her. Not only was she at least ten years younger than the man next to her, but he was of a higher status and, in a manner of speaking, her host for the presentation she was about to give. To her, it was almost natural to be formal towards him, in fact, that was what is expected of her. "I'm sorry if my formality is disconcerting." she said, smiling warmly.

Listening, Bruce nodded in understanding. He learned a small amount of foreign languages, but all were either spanish or spoken in South America. He did not know too much of the other languages he encountered from previous years. He went to China months earlier but he never really spoke to someone so that did not give him a chance.

He shook his head. "No. Don't worry about it. It's just fine." He gave a smirk. Just as the bell dinged in the elevator and the doors opened, Bruce waited for her to follow his lead out of it. "So, say I needed to go to Japan for a business trip. How would I introduce myself?" He questioned.

(TT^TT So short... but where is everyone?!))

Rin strode out of the elevator, smiling a little, he really seemed to be trying to make her feel more comfortable, "First off, in any circumstance, you start by saying 'Hajimemashite' this is a ritualistic phrase meaning 'this is the first time we've met'." she explained, "In a business circumstance, you'd introduce yourself, stating your company and then offer a business card. To do this you state your company's name, place the particle 'no', which is the Japanese version of adding an apostrophe and s, then your name, a Japanese person will refer to themselves surname first, but you can refer to yourself in western order. Since there are two Yamanos in the company, I would say, 'Yamahoshi no Yamano Rin desu'. Also, in regards to business cards, you offer it with two hands and your head bowed until they take it. Also, do not fold them, that's considered rude, card-holders are useful, but many get away with placing them in your blazer pocket." she explained, "I know it seems like a lot, but the whole thing only takes a few moments."

She couldn't help but chuckle, what was the English phrase, half-measure? She mused, such an idea certainly didn't seem to exist at home. Everything was either practical or with a flourish, there was very little, if anything, standing in between.

The taxi drive wasn't very pleasant, Jenise had gotten a foreigner that spoke little english, so telling him the directions was rather difficult. She finally had to point in the direction where she wanted to go at every intersection. The task was exceedingly uneccessary and made her angry to the point where she wanted to take out her hand gun and shoot the man's brains out, but she resisted the urge and continued to point which street to go to. She watched the scenery go bye, watching people participate in their everyday going-on's. A mother, she assumed, with her daughter, she assumed again, were buying a hotdog from a vendor at one of the intersections. The girl had a cute pink dress on and her mother had her hand. She was surprised when the girl looked at her and waved and smiled. A wave of warmness flowed through her and she waved and smiled back.

"Which way?" Came the taxi driver's heavily accented voice. By now she could see Wayne Tower, so she pointed to it.

"Take me there," Her voice was a bit more happier than before, making the taxi driver look at her real quick, blinked, turned back around and started to drive off.

The second Harley got into the car, detonator in hand, the Joker pressed down on the accelerator. A glance at the car’s clock told him that it was getting close to performance time, and he liked to be on time. He could hear his jester’s excitement despite her making no sound, and he took a quick look at the detonator in her hands.

Watch what you‘re doing with that," he warned with a dangerous snarl, enjoying the movement as he drove erratically in the direction of Wayne Tower. “If you set that off before we get there…” He didn’t have to say another word. He knew she understood. The hand movement that had followed should have helped anyway; the gun still in his hand tilted slightly in her direction. Concentrating properly on the road now, he sucked his teeth loudly before pressing harder on the accelerator. It was such a thrill to go so fast, watching people getting out of the way looking incredibly horrified, one unlucky gentleman ending up going over the vehicle and landing unconscious (probably) in the middle of the road. Much better than a rollercoaster.

Finally, the entrance to Wayne Tower came into view, and the car screeched to a stop, followed by the white vans the goons had been tagging along in. Muttering excitedly to himself, he clambered out of the borrowed convertible and slammed the door shut. One last check in his pockets told him that he had everything possible to make the performance spectacular!

Alright boys, you know what to do,” He waved at his men to get to their respective positions, and quickly. He knew the police would be on their tracks soon. How would Gotham’s finest enjoy the performance with the actors behind bars? Head held high, his favoured gun at hand, he marched calmly towards the entrance, motioning once again to Harley, followed by five of his largest henchmen. What better way to make an entrance than to walk straight through security?

"Insanity? You know nothing of it."

User ImageVictoria jumped slightly at the sound of a car door slamming. It wasn't an abnormal thing a large city such as Gotham, she just hadn't been expecting it. She glanced up slightly and gasped. The Joker? 'What is he doing-well, why wouldn't he come here? A rich, powerful man's business. A man who is greatly important to Gotham,' she thought to herself. It actually made sense. Why wouldn't he go after Bruce Wayne?

Actually, why hadn't she gone after Wayne? She mentally kicked herself. Leave it to the Joker to come up with such a brilliant plan. Victoria stood still and kept her eyes off the Joker or anyone with him. She didn't need to get caught up in whatever he had planned.

(I'm still here too....I was just a little...blank on what to make Victoria do.... xD)
