"Insanity? You know nothing of it."

User Image"Don't give me that look...."
"Why are you doing this?!"

Nitemare lunged forward, pressing her knife to the girls throat. A sneer appeared on her face and she laughed.
"Why am I doing this?" she snarled, "Because your daddy decided to have his men try to kill me." The girl whimpered, staring up at Nitemare. The girl's strawberry blond hair was a mess, her forest green eyes were large and watery, and her skin was ghostly pale.
"Then why me? Why not him?!" the girl screamed.
"Hey now," Nitemare said, pinning the girl down to the floor with one arm, still pressing the knife to the girl's throat, "Calm down and you might live longer." Tears ran down the girl's cheeks but she stopped struggling.
"Good girl," Nitemare said, standing up and putting her knife into her black trench coat's pocket. She heard the girl quietly muttering to herself, but only catching the word 'crazo'. Nitemare spun around, one again brandishing a handgun and a silencer from her other pocket.
"Crazo, huh?" she snarled, spinning the silencer onto her handgun and pointing it at the girl's head, smirking when she saw her shrink back and tightly shut her eyes.
"Well, perhaps you won't live," Nitemare pressed the gun to the girl's temple.
"Please don't!" the girl pleaded, beginning to sob. Nitemare gave a frustrated sigh.
"Do you have any idea how many times I've heard that?" she said before pulling the trigger, "It doesn't really affect me."

Nitemare stood from her crouched position, frowning at the blood and brains splattered against the wall and floor, not giving the floor another glance.
"Such a mess," she muttered to herself, stepping over the girl's body and towards the door, opening it and walking out of the darkness of one of the many storage units of Gotham and into the darkness of the city.
Out here, she was Victoria Dawson, just another citizen of Gotham City. To her victims though, she was Nitemare. She had been working for the mob for almost a year, but one job went wrong and her boss had a fit. She had planned to use the blond as bait to get to her ex-boss. Nitemare wasn't really one to follow through plans though.

Victoria pushed her red hair back behind her ear as she looked down at her clothes for any trace of blood or evidence on her. Once she saw that there wasn't anything noticeable she began to quickly make her way towards the city. She took her trench coat off and threw it over her arm as she exited an alley and walked onto the streets of Gotham. The city was bright, street lights lit up the entire road, and most of the windows were lit up. People littered the streets, a few business men returning home for work, but most of the people consisted of what she called The Night Crowd. The Night Crowd was basically petty criminals, druggies, and street workers. Every city had them, every city hated them.

Victoria walked down the street towards the upper part of the city. She had an apartment there, one of the perks of working for the mob, money was never a problem, of course that would change now, unless she found somewhere else to work. Perhaps she could try to get a job in one of the 'big businesses' in the city. Maybe she could work at at Wayne Enterprises, or perhaps Arkham, that would be an interesting job. Of course she would have to work even harder to keep anyone from finding out about her 'hobby'.

She entered into her apartment building and walked up the twelve flights of stairs to her apartment. Victoria pulled her keys out of her pocket and opened the door to her apartment, throwing her coat onto her couch and going into her room for a quick change. After she had removed every article of clothing that she had been wearing she threw them into a black trash bag, she would dispose of them later, and walked back out of her apartment. The night was too early for her to settle in.

((So, I'd figure that since we have some people joining, it'd be a good time to get things started. BTW, I'm gonna be autoplaying Alfred unless anyone decides to take him. I can't imagine what he'd do with other characters but I could be wrong...))

Looking down at the man still sleeping at three in the afternoon, Alfred let out a deep sigh before throwing back the curtains and letting the light shine through the window. "You are not even staying up all night and you are still sleeping this late." The older man said with disbelief. Meanwhile, Bruce had covered his head. After of listening to Alfred rant for a few minutes, Bruce Wayne growled and threw away his covers. "I'm up! Happy?" The man snapped. Alfred smiled, wondering how a man over thirty could act like a twelve year old.

Alfred handed him a tray with food, a glass of orange juice and a remote to his large plasma screen TV hanging on the wall in front of him. The remote was the first thing he reached for, clicking the television on. "Another three robberies last night. With the crime rate raising so exponentially, what will happen to Gotham? That story coming up at five. But first, here's the weather with-" Bruce quickly switched the television off.

With his elbows resting on his knees, Bruce held his head in his hands. He did not know what he was supposed to do. He wanted to help, but if he did, he'd be caught by the cops. Bruce knew ways he could easily escape the cops but not tons of specially trained officers constantly on lookout. He made an attempt to go criminal hunting about once a week but he never made too much progress because of his new wanted level.

"Sir, you know what is best. It might not be clear now but you will know." Alfred spoke to Bruce. He glanced up at the butler and smirked softly. It was nice to know there was still someone on his side. Bruce quickly gulped down his juice and ate his breakfast to get ready to go out and check on Wayne Enterprises. It was all he could do for now.

((...-looks up- That's really crappy... =3=
BTW, Harlequin, your post is awesome! <3
2nd BTW, I realize after posting this and reading yours that our times are at different places but it's alright for an intro post. After this, we can assume it is night. (Things are much more interesting at night.) ))

"Insanity? You know nothing of it."

Victoria stepped out of her apartment building once again. She had decided that she would head to Wayne Towers and see if they were currently hiring, it was likely seeing as how the company was constantly growing. She produced a hair bow and quickly put her hair up in a messy bun as she made her way to the upper part of the city. Her pace was quick and she was hoping that it wasn't to late to get into Wayne Towers. Perhaps she could make it there in time.

She began to hum a little tune for herself, trying to keep herself from running or skipping around. Victoria was unusually hyper for some reason she couldn't explain. Perhaps the opportunity or a new beginning excited her. Working for the mob wasn't exactly her dream job after all. Of course after she left Arkham she didn't really have any choice, seeing as it was one of the only ways to make money without having to worry about being taken away back to the crazy house.

Victoria straightened out her trench coat and checked her hair in a window as she passed before she reached Wayne Towers. A good, clean appearance would make her first impression better. She took a deep breath, reminding her self not to say anything that could potentially make them think that she was homicidal, before opening the door and stepping in.

((Wow...just imagine it....a homicidal maniac trying to get a job at Wayne Towers...
Well...I think that it's brilliant. xD

Thanks for the compliments. =3))

Rin Yamano

Gotham Airport, a place that had been on high alert for a long time with the growing crime rates, checks were more thorough than ever to crack down on smuggling and contraband. Those flying in and out were subject to random searches and background checks on top of having to display ID and, where applicable, a visa.

Rin Yamano had just cleared everything and was now on her way to claim her baggage that wasn't either already there or being shipped. Unlike many flying from such a distance, she had slept through her flight and emerged from the plane bright-eyed and ready to take on any challenges that came her way. Right now, she was working with her PDA, getting information and sending some quick emails.

Little did anyone know what the green-eyed Japanese girl was really here for, dressed in a smart business suit, it was clear she was not in Gotham city for a holiday. While business ventures and charity work were a vital part of her visit, she was also up to something very different. Her handheld computer was flashing data that she scanned quickly, storing it in her photographic memory and mulling it over. Business reports were among them, but so were reports regarding crime rates and even the odd autopsy report from deaths under scrutiny. Already something didn't sit quite right with the girl, and it surrounded the resident vigilante.

From what she had gathered, the deaths that Batman was accused of causing were from being shot, yet it was a known fact that he was never so much as seen wielding one, only a range of gadgetry the likes of which wasn't so easily obtained. So why was he being blamed by the police department? That was on her agenda while Yoru went to work, aiding to clean up the mess before it spread.

Straightening his tie, Bruce stared at himself in the mirror. Dark black rings were appearing around his eyes. It amused Bruce that, even while he was not playing the role of the vigilante, he still was as exhasuted as when he was. For the past weeks, Bruce would lie awake in his bed, thinking about all the things he could be doing instead of sleeping. He could continue his billioniare playboy role and go to parties. Meeting a few girls and trying to get drunk sounded convincingly fun. Though, Bruce was appauled by the thought of being drunk and being surrounded by girls who just wanted to be with him so they could talk to their skanky friends the next day, telling them the whole story. Then tabloids would follow him all the time. Not a great plan.

He could always continue trying to carry on his role as Batman. But for some reason, even though Bruce accepted the responsibility of Harvey's actions, he was afraid of being caught. Maybe it was because he wasn't sure what would happen to his company, though Lucius did a fine job of taking care of it. Perhaps he did not want to be seperated from the glamor of his penthouse and money. Maybe it was just because he did not want to be arrested. He did not want to have another thing in common with that stupid man, the Joker.

After all that thinking in a night, commonly, just before the sun rised, he's finally pass out from exhastion.

Bruce found it amusing. Alfred again refused to give up on him. Bruce chuckled at the thought. The butler was so stubborn. After Bruce finished getting ready to head to the Wayne Towers, he headed down to where Alfred was. "Are you ready, sir?" Alfred questioned.

"Lucius is taking advantage of the fact that my nights are open and sending me to night meetings." Bruce growled to the unsympathetic man.

"The lamborghini is ready." Alfred smirked and threw Bruce the keys.

Rolling his eyes, Bruce took the keys and headed to his car. It took him about twenty minutes to get to the towers. He threw the valet his keys and headed in the building. Bruce stared at his watch, realizing he was almost late. He rushed through the front lobby, accidently bumping into a woman in a trench coat on his way in. "Excuse me." He turned and apologized politely to her before heading to the front desk. "Are they here yet?" He began his conversation with the receptionist.

Rin Yamano

It didn't take Rin long to place the majority of her belongings in the apartment that had been prepared for her. Satisfied with what had happened so far she picked up the briefcase that was beside the door and walked back down, passing reception with a curt nod before calling a taxi. She had been told how to tell which taxis are legit and which weren't, not that she'd have too much trouble anyway, she had taken a tazer to defend herself with. "Wayne Tower." she told the cabbie as she climbed in, she was due to attend a meeting and surely they'd understand that there had been an unexpected issues that needed to be cleared back in Sapporo before she could come, hence the chartered jet that she had slept on.

"Wayne Tower you say? Here on business then?"

"Something to that effect." Rin agreed, she spoke fluent English, more so than her father anyway, "Business here, charity there, you know how it is."

"Aye, I just hope you can defend yourself from any thugs that come your way, the cops have their hands full what with Dent gone and madmen like the Joker and Scarecrow running around." the cabbie stated.

"Thank you for the warning." was all Rin answered before the cab pulled off towards the centre of Wayne Enterprises. The cab pulled up at the front entrance and she strode in briskly, seeing a woman occupying one receptionist she turned to the other and held out a business card, "I believe Mr Wayne is expecting me in regards to a joint project." she stated calmly.

The receptionist took the card, "Of course Miss Yamano, Mr Wayne has just arrived himself, please take a seat and I'll let him know you're here, I must say though, you seem rather... young... to be participating in such affairs..."

"I already hold a PhD in Business and Computing, but the reason I am here in my father's place is that my English is more fluent," Rin explained, before taking a seat in one of the nearby chairs, the briefcase sat on her lap while she checked her email on her PDA again.

The past exsists only in our memories,
the future only in our plans.
The present is our only reality.

Midday naps had become a regular occurrence for Jenna though no one who came and went from Edward Technology seemed to understand why. Of course, that was fine by Jenna so long as they didn't interrupt her naps with anything less than an emergency. No one needed to know about her idea of a nightlife as it was; after all, who would expect the daughter of Edward Montgomery to go running around in the middle of the night kicking some serious butt and taking names in the process? Exactly, no one. And unfortunately her new schedule had become so engraved into who she was that out of habit she'd wake up promptly when the sun began to fade from the sky. Her father had often scolded her for taking up such a reverse schedule, even if it did suit his agenda. Jenna was after all, the face of Edward Technology thanks to her father's supposed 'brilliant' idea.

As it was, she supposed it suited her purposes perfect fine though it took her out of commission on some nights, all thanks to the parties she attended in her father's place. 'I wonder where that man is right now anyways, I think father said he was off to England for a while,' Jenna pondered to herself as she rolled onto her stomach and clutched her pillow tightly to herself. Dutifully her alarm rang out just in time for her to shut it off--which she did with a resounding slap upon the snooze button. She was late for once, a thought which made her frown as she changed from her roomy button down pajama top into her typical 'stalk the street's attire which her nearest and dearest friend--who lived quite a distance away--had said made her look like some tough as nails biker chick who tended to show a bit more skin than was necessary. The other thing he had brought up was the fact that it left her stomach vulnerable if someone got close enough, and there was the matter of rifles as well; of course, Jenna being who she was had simply grinned and shook her head. "If I've given them enough time to shoot me or stab me, I'm not doing it right," She'd told him in reply.

She dressed almost sluggishly that night, at the last minute deciding that she'd probably be best off to grab something to eat before beginning her night. For that, she wouldn't dare dress up as Libra and hesitantly she changed into a mid-thigh burgundy dress which dipped low on her back, packing her other outfit--and assorted necessities for Libra nights--into a weekender bag which she intended to toss into the back seat of her black Saleen S7 before heading off to a restaurant. To be quite honest, Jenna had no idea where she wished to eat, only that she wouldn't be doing it as Libra and as Jenna Montgomery she wouldn't dare look anything less than regal. 'To quote mother, 'It simply isn't done.'' Jenna reminded herself as she climbed into the sleek sports car and began her momentarily aimless drive.

Another night, another moment to enjoy living in a city that seemed to thrive on the idea of live violently or die like a dog in the dirt. Not that it was very enjoyable in that perspective, but still things were as they were. Of course Veil wasn't very concerned with what went on in the city. No, she was happier when she tuned out the world around her.

Sadly at the moment, doing that was not an option. She had no money left, which meant she needed to obtain more. Performing was out, at least for the moment; she only liked doing that during the day anyway, when there was actually a chance some of the nicer people of town would be out, and able to spend some time watching. Then again perhaps the mob and underworld of Gotham would be appreciative? Well, she'd find that out another time.

For now, she'd stick with the tried and true method of pickpocketing. She turned down the street, deciding to head towards Wayne Industries. Business men held a better chance of actually having a decent amount of money, and more importantly they weren't guaranteed to chase her down if they caught her. So it was the perfect place really, at least for right now.

Eventually, Veil became aware that she was nearing the building. She blinked, finally taking notice of the world around her. Her eyes flitted back and fourth, quickly examining the people near the building, some heading in, others passing by or leaving it. Soon enough, she spotted a good target, and adjusted her angle just slightly so that she bumped into them as she passed, not bothering with any muttered apologies wallet clenched in her hand. For only a brief second it was visible, before being slipped into a pocket to be examined later. She'd have to find out how much cash was in it, and then throw away the rest. Valuable as they could be, Veil didn't like using credit cards or anything of the sort. They tended to be too easily traceable, and an annoyance besides that.

Victoria turned to the person that had bumped into her, ready to give them a what-for. Her eye's widened as she saw that it was Bruce Wayne. "Oh, it's okay," she said quickly, waving her hands from side to side, supposing that she appeared like some sort of anime character brought to life. She watched as he walked away towards the front desk. Could this really be the man that was the heir to Wayne Enterprises?

Ah well, that didn't really matter right now. She approached the desk, leaning against the hard wood with her elbows. "'Scuse me," she said to one of the women that stood behind the desk, "Are you hiring at the moment?" Victoria placed her placed her chin into one of her hands and awaited an answer.

((Gah! So short! D: ))

Bruce stared curiously at the receptionist talking to the woman who he had just bumped into. The one next to her waved to catch his attention. "Sir, the woman sitting over there, Miss Yamano, is attending the meeting tonight. I'm not sure she knows where to go. You should probably help her up there." Bruce found himself glancing over his shoulder to look at the japanese woman sitting in one of chairs in the lobby. Bruce had never acknowledged someone in the lobby besides the receptionists. He always hated the area. It was too crowded and full of people just waiting, taking up space and making noise. He could never hear his own thoughts down here.

"I'll be sure to lead her up to the conference room." He nodded to the woman. As Bruce went to take a step away, the other receptionist stopped him.

"Sir!" She shouted. "This woman is wondering if we are hiring. She appeared out of the blue. What are we supposed to do?" She brought her voice back down to a normal level. Bruce cocked his eyebrow slightly. He was suprised she would say such things right in front of the woman she spoke of.

Bruce turned to the woman he had bumped into. "I'm not sure if we are hiring." Bruce put on the "billioniare playboy" look, acting like he was flirting and cocky. "It really just depends. What fields do you have experience in? If I know what you need, maybe I could look it up for you." He winked with a smirk. Now that Bruce thought about it, he could use her as a personal assistant or maybe someone who goes around and gives coffee to workers. He was not sure what to do but he would do whatever it took to get up to the conference room quicker.

((It's Yamano, not Yamato))

Rin Yamano

Rin looked up from her PDA at the conversation being had between Bruce and the two receptionists, not preparing to participate in the conversation as she did not wish to appear impatient. She knew herself what a slow process being high on the chain could be, but surely a company as vast as Wayne Enterprises would have a Human Resources department who would keep track of who was needed within the company? When such scenarios came up at Yamahoshi, they were referred straight to the HR department, after all, the receptionists mostly kept appointment books or guided people to the correct office. However, at the acknowledgement that he gave her she gave a single nod before going through the information that was in the briefcase, making sure it was present and accounted for, since she was supposedly forgetful for the tiny details, she had a lot of notes that she already had memorised.

Then again, impressions were important, something that she knew all too well, and she was quick to notice the transition from serious businessman to playboy that seemed to come from him, "And here I thought that it was unfounded rumours." she thought calmly.
