Mia
Bakery's baker
Currently with: No one Location: Near town square Mood:Confused
Mia entered into Bluebell Valley. She was brand new here, and knew no one. Her older brother Ritsuka lived here, and she was coming to live here with him. He had gotten her a job as a baker at the local bakery, seeing as she was a great baker, she had learned from her mother. She was very confused, and only had Ritsukas address, and the bakerys address. She was looking around, everything was so beautiful! She smiled softly and wandered around, and eventually she had found Ritsukas house! Her trusty puppy, Angel had been trotting beside her. She entered Ritsukas yard and went to his front door, knocking loudly, hoping he'd answer. She waited a minute, but no answer. She sighed annoyed, how dare Ritsuka not be prepared for her arrival! Even though she had never told him she'd be coming today... She frowned slightly. She exited his yard, unsure of where he could be. She had no idea where anything was here!
Her long purple hair blew into her face, brushing it away, she stood timidly in the middle of a dirt path. She shifted her weight from foot to foot. "Ritsuka... where are you? She muttered quietly to herself. She began wandering around the town, obvious to any around her that she was new and lost. She hated feeling lost and alone but what could she do besides search for her brother? She hummed quietly to herself, maybe it wasn't so bad, she could walk around and explore the valley. She stopped though, glancing around the area, a little farther ahead seemed to be the town square.

Indent He didn't get to sleep in very often.
Indent Today was, well, no exception.
Indent Like usual he woke at the crack of dawn, tugged on some work clothes, and went out to begin the work day. The chickens, cows and sheep were let out into their outdoors pens, since it was a nice day, and the pair of horses he owned were carefully tended to and taken for a morning trot before also being penned. Some feed was tossed out for the chickens, some little snacks given to the larger animals, and then he wandered off to the tool shed to get his watering can. The first seeds of the season had been planted last night, actually, before he went to bed; so that morning he was quick enough to water them, spread a little fertilzer over the ground, pull any weeds....
Indent While it felt like it went quickly enough, all in all it still took about two hours and left him... Messy. His clothes were dirty, there was a smudge of said dirt on his face, fertilzer on his boots... While he was a farmer, and thus used to it, it was certainly no way to dress for the festival later. For now though he was content to drop down onto the grass beside his fields, his large dog Hunter padding over with tongue lolling out happily. The cat was too busy lazing in the shade under the tree, but he knew if it came down to it she'd help keep an eye on the livestock. His pets were fairly well trained. Peeling one glove from his hand William scratched behind the german shepard's ears, letting out a heavy breath. " Well, that's the morning chores done, " he said lightly, grinning at the canine, who gave a cheery bark in response, tail thumping against the ground. Now he just had to get ready for the festival.
Indent With a small grunt of effort Will pushed himself up again and stretched his arms above his head, grimacing at the small cracks it caused. With another pat to his guard dog's head the young brunette walked back to his house to change. It wasn't much, but it was more than enough for himself and his two house pets. A quick shower and a new set of clothes later and he was back outside, looking oddly refreshed for a man who'd just been at work all morning. At any rate he called a quick goodbye to his wide variety of critters, getting only another loud bark in response before he walked off of the farm. Chances were most people would be at the town square setting up. So ever helpful he padded off in that direction to offer a hand.
Indent At least, that was his original plan. Before he stumbled upon an unfamiliar face, topped by a head of purple hair and looking quite lost. William stared at her for a moment before mentally shrugging and walking over to her. " Hey there! " A bright grin took it's place naturally on his lips, expression friendly and a touch curious. " Don't think I've seen you around before. You new to town? " His head tilted a fraction to one side, pale brown eyes blinking a few times.

xx ↳ with: Nobody. x where: The library.
Indent The library was almost ridiculously quiet that morning. Not even her assistant was there.
Indent But she supposed she couldn't be too surprised. Today was the New Year's Festival, after all.
Indent With a quiet sigh the young woman put a slip of paper in her book to mark the page, then gently shut it, looking up. Shy or not, it would do her no good to look like some sort of social outcast. Even though she went through this same mental debate for just about every festival. Somehow, even after living here for two years, she just... Didn't do well in social settings. She never had. Though she very rarely had a choice in participating; if she didn't show up on her own, chances were Will would burst down her door and drag her off. Okay, so, maybe he wouldn't knock the door down, but he'd still force her to go. Ah, her brother....
Indent But she had until five o'clock, didn't she? No need to go running out making herself uncomfortable now. Besides, somebody had to watch the library. Getting up from the chair behind the front desk, Lillian walked around to grab some books from the 'returned' cart, going about shelving them while humming quietly under her breath. She settled into her work with ease, checking the book's number and author before going to put them where they belonged. Some might find the emptiness of the library almost oppressive, might want to leave and go elsewhere. But she was comfortable right where she was. It had taken a lot of money and work to get her little library up and running, and not only was she proud of it but she was happy there. She was happy introducing people to new books, to helping the village children learn to read....
Indent So for the time being, the library was where she remained, able to hear some of the chatter and bustle of the nearby town square through the open window on the wall by the door. As long as nobody else came in and messed up all of her books, for now she was in a fairly good mood. Unlike the other day when some girl had come in and taken out everything and thrown it everywhere. It had taken a long time to clean that up....

- "I'm planning to stay for a bit." Muse said while looking back to him once again. Yes, it was official, this would be her home for probably the next year or so...? She could probably get used to the place really quick, with his help no doubt, and would perhaps stay even longer. There was just something about the place that made her feel quite welcome. Muse wasn't used to that feeling but she enjoyed whenever she could.
"So...what do you guys do around here? I understand it's New Years today? I'm never in town when that Festival comes about." Muse then asked while bending down to put her sandals back on. Oddly enough, she always managed to pack up and leave the day before New Years Eve and New Years Day. Hell, she sometimes forgot they even existed! It was strange being in a town so early...Again Muse had brushed some more hair out of her eyes. It was a constant habit she had taken up after the whole incident with that one man and woman. Being blind in her right eye was also strange but it was the price she had to pay for messing around with fire. Water had never worked with fire, ever.
Now with her shoes upon her feet and a new smile that curled her lips upward, Muse looked toward Ritsuka. "So, would you like to go for a walk? I'm feeling like I've had enough of the ocean for right now." She said as she shifted to her side. Silently, she awaited his answer.

▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇ ▇▇ ▇ ▇xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx▇ ▇ ▇▇ ▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇ ▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇▇▇

- Remy felt that prickly feeling she always got when someone brushed her off. It wasn't an uncommon for her, though. She puffed up her cheeks and let out a long hiss, turning away from him. "Why are people always so... so.... bogus! I should just turn everyone into toads so maybe they wouldn't be so barking stupid all the time!" she said to Twigs, stomping her foot once on the ground.
There was a bitter taste in her mouth, the tingling bile building in her throat. "Oh barking spiders, I just hate people!" She announced, trudging away from the group. Seeing all their faces just made that bitter taste in her mouth worse. She had intentions to stomp all the way back to her house, but a loud grumble erupted from her stomach. She sank down to settle on her haunches and said, "Oh yeah. I haven't eaten yet. This is so bogus."
Nothing would be open until all the stands were set up, so all she could do was wait. She plopped onto her bottom, and sat indian style on the ground, muttering incantations that made grass spring up where she put her finger. She made a picture of Twigs in that fashion, and stood up to view her work. "Looks good, dontcha think?" The cat mewed his approval, and Remy smiled, the bitterness that had built up a moment ago dissipating. "Ah, I feel a lot less bogus! I'm still hungry, though!" She looked at the picture again, and waved her finger, filling in the grass outline with small orange flowers and two large green roses for eyes. "Man, I tell you, I just keep getting better and better!"
She crossed her arms and sported a cocky smile on her face, as if she were addressing someone, even though she was alone.
"I'm glad you're a cat, Twigs, otherwise you might be completely bogus too!" A sense of pleasantry had come over her again- she was quick to anger, sure, but she was also quick to cool. "Maybe I shouldn't have called people bogus? Oh well. It's true, I think. Even I'M a little bogus, sometimes." Twigs purred and licked her cheek. She patted Twigs between his ears contentedly. "We still haven't thought of a good prank. Maybe we should go to the library again, I'm sure Glasses would be just delighted!" She laughed and shook her head. Of course she had no real intention of going back to the library any time soon- though she did wonder if they had any non-bogus books. "Somehow I don't think he'd be very inclined to help me anymore, even if I wanted to find out. Oh well, books are bogus." She carried on the conversation for some time, blissfully unaware that it might be strange to talk to a cat in the way she did.

- There weren’t many things that could wake Aiden up, much to the strife of his sister, Fiona, who was by now at the shop, taking care of business as usual, as if it weren’t a holiday today. But now Aiden snoozed away in the house they shared in the eastern part of Bluebell, oblivious to the fact that it was already past eight in the morning and that Fiona would be standing with her arms crossed, ready to ream him out when he stepped into the shop, sleepy-eyed and carrying scraps of fabric and paper with designs drawn on them. It was only when Fiona’s white cat, Quincompoix, jumped onto his chest that he opened his spring green eyes, jolting awake at the sudden pressure. “Oi, cat! I was dreaming about marshmallows. Why would you do that to me?” he asked as though the cat might answer him. Instead, he looked at Aiden with a puzzled expression before stalking over to his food bowl.
Standing up, Aiden stretched, his arms above his head, reaching out towards the ceiling. “Fifi?” he called out, hoping to hear his sister’s voice. But, of course, there was no answer. She would be out by now, being all boring and responsible as always. It was Monday, their day off, and a holiday, but Fiona was adamant that before the celebrations in the town square, they should go over some things regarding their business. Walking over to the table in their small kitchen, he found a note there in his sister’s neat hand writing. It read:
- Aiden,
- When you wake up, meet me at the shop. Just because today is a holiday, it doesn’t mean you get to laze around. I want to see those new designs you’ve been working on and we only have so much time before the celebrations begin. Also, eat something with a bit of protein in it for breakfast. You’re getting too skinny, and I don’t like it. It makes your head look big, especially with all that hair. You need a haircut too.
- -Fifi
Aiden sigh, but smiled. It was so like his sister to be a total b***h, but then try to take care of him, as though she were his mother. Their real mother would be proud of her.
Yawning, Aiden ate his breakfast—some eggs to make his sister happy—dressed in fitted twill pants and a green v-neck made of pure cotton. He didn’t look much like a fashion designer, but that was the idea. He looked like the owner of a tailor shop, not an actual tailor or designer. It was the best way to keep his secret safe. Nobody could know he was the one fixing and designing their clothes, or they would certainly guess his…preferences.
When Aiden walked out towards the square, he noticed that there seemed to be a lot of people there already. Almost everyone seemed to have met there and were chatting up a storm. Always liking the people of Bluebell, he stopped by the group and smiled. “Hey! Did you guys change the time for the party? Because Fiona’s gonna be pissed. She thinks we’re going to get actual work done today,” he said with a laugh. He didn’t know what they were all talking about and hoped that he wasn’t interrupting them, but he couldn’t pass up the chance to chat. He loved mingling.

- There were so many people up in the morning, it made Sakana smile. She was always happy to see everyone's face. This town wasn't very big, but it held a lot of people in it. She smiled and waved again when others said hello to her. Though, she noticed one who she was quite familiar with. Dr. Kubara, the man she saw often about her Nana and getting medicine from him for her. She smiled and approached him before nodding. "Hello Doctor, I am glad to see you so well." She said with a smile before she looked at all of the others who were around now. It seemed like the Town Square was getting busy. She turned back to the Doctor. "Oh, I had forgotten to tell you, but since you are always helping Nana I figured I could help in return. I planted a few herb seeds in some soil at our world so we can give them to you when they grow." She explained as she smiled sweetly. She was always grateful to the Doctor for always helping out her Nana and even her sometimes. She didn't know if the Doctor knew about her small condition, but she wouldn't be surprised if he had noticed.

Mia
Bakery's baker
Currently with: William Location: Near town square Mood:Confused
Mia was figiting in her spot when she saw a man approaching her, He had pale brown eyes and brown hair, he was smiling though and he seemed friendly. A flood of relief flooded over her, at least he was nice. People could be very rude in the city. She listened to his question and noded as she gave a faint smile, "Yes, i've just arrived from the city... my brother is Ritsuka but he's not home so, i'm not quite sure where he is, or where anything is for that matter..."Mia trailed off. She wasn't usually so timid, but she was lost, new, and before she was alone, but now this man stood before her. She wondered how long he had been here, he knew she was new, so maybe a while. Or maybe she just look down right lost and confused. Maybe that was it. She rubbed her right arm with her left hand shyly and gave him a warm smile.
Perhaps he knew Ritsuka, She knew Ritsuka worked at the tavern as a bartender, but she figured he didn't work until later, it was New Years afterall. She was sure to find him at the festival! She smiled slightly, reassured by herself that she would find Ritsuka tonight, if not today. Ritsuka always told her how nice the people were here, so she was glad that this man stopped to talk to her. It was nice to meet new people, especially nice people. The town was so beautiful, from what she had seen. The sky was blue with some clouds floating by, she enjoyed the view. But she turned her attention back to the man standing before her, smiling lightly at him.

RitsukaLocation:The beach Currently with:Muse. Mood:relaxed
Ritsuka smiled brightly hearing that she had planned to stay a while, it was always nice to have new comers, and he knew she would like it here. Hearing her question he thought for a moment, New years! He has almost forgot about the festival tonight! "Oh! I almost forgot about the New Years Festival tonight! I think it starts around Five PM if i'm correct. It's a lot of fun. I love festivals around here. You should come, i can take you. It's in town square." He replied, a bright smile on his face. He was excited for the festival now, and he wanted to show her the festival because, well... it was fun for him. He hoped it'd be fun for her too.
The breeze brushed Ritsukas hair out of his face as he took in a deep breath of fresh air. He began putting his shoes back on as she put her sandals on. Emptying the sand from his shoes before he did so. He then looked at her and smiled with a nod, "A walk sounds nice." He answered as he began to exit the beach. They could really go anywhere in town and he'd know exactly where they were, so he could walk any direction his feet, or hers, would take them. He walked beside her with a content smile on his face.
"So where did you come from before Bluebell Valley?" Ritsuka asked curiously. He wasn't trying to be nosey, just friendly. He wondered since he was from the city before he came here. The city wasn't a bad place, but he much prefered Bluebell Valley over the city, in the city, there could be rude people, people who sell you junk for expensive prices, people who didn't want to talk to you, not even if you needed help. But there were some good people from the city too. But the Bluebell Valley life was perfect for Ritsuka.

- Emily batted her lashes at Charles initial response. The poor thing seemed to be utterly surprised. Though she was aware how abrupt she had been, along with her usual rambling taking over her at times of pure excitement. She pondered weather she should repeat herself and speak at a slower pace. Emily was sure others would understand her more clearly, and wouldn't be forced to piece together her sentences. She made a note to practice while alone in her room at the Inn.
However, a smile which presented itself across Charles's face assured her that he had understood. She became ever more elated once he stated it was one of his favorite novels. It was pleasant to know, for future reference. Emily was definitely open to the opportunity of befriending him and being referred to different stories. Without any electronics in her room, she sought to books for most of her entertainment at night.
As she was about to speak on the note of his next suggestion, Marshall was quick to pat Charles on the back and comment on her being a 'catch'. Although she was flustered by the comment, she was aware it was a harmless teasing. She couldn't help but laugh at the interaction between the two, and Charles's cheeks growing slightly pink.
"Oh, it's alright, Charles. Marshall's just being funny, right?" Emily smiled towards the mayor.
Their conversation was then interrupted as Remy jumped in. It was sudden enough to make her miss what she had said. Emily was able to catch the word 'bogus', but she seemed to always say it, it was some what her personal catch phrase. Sadly, Emily could only watch as Charles was beginning to grow a bit agitated. She was amazed though, at how composed her was being despite being told what a mess Remy had caused intentionally in the library. She frowned at the thought of him and the librarian scrambling to make everything neat again.
Her frown was lifted once Charles was able to focus into their previous conversation. Emily gave a sigh of relief of her own, "Oh, no! It's no problem. It happens." She tucked a strand of blond hair behind her, "Yes, I've heard about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and I feel that I'm definitely more interested in thriller novels than anything else. Although romantic novels are entertaining, they can be too predictable at times and I get bored easily. I mean, mystery, horror, and thriller are my favorite genres because they keep me guessing! It's kinda embarrassing though since I scare myself by reading them so late at night that I can hardly sleep. I even make sure I close my closet now!" She paused to take a deep breath. She then blushed at what she said at the end of her sentence; she always did get carried away, "Sorry, I'm just talking so much and you probably want to get back to your book. But, I'll definitely pick that one up next once I take back Frankenstein. Actually, since there's still some time I think I'll return it right now."
Emily was about to say her good-bye's before a question popped into her head. It was a little straight forward and made her cheeks grow a pink hue. She cleared her throat, "Charles, I was wondering, if you weren't busy or didn't have any other plans, if you wouldn't mind coming to the New Years Festival with me later today? I really love fireworks and it's much better when you have a friend to enjoy it with."
Before Emily could hear a reply, a new voice mixed into the group. As she turned her shoulder she almost gasped. Again. It was no one other than Aiden who took her breath away. His features were always striking and beautiful.
"Nope, everything's still at the same time. And, I guess some shops are open but it's all up to the owners. Oh-!" Emily quickly rustled inside her pocket and brought out a two New Years greeting card's "here, this one's for you and your sister. Please take it. And tell your sister I said 'Hi' if I don't get to see her today."

LEE ARCHER GREY
▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇
▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇
- "Lee Archer Grey!" an old, sharp voice called out. "You better get up, boy!" Grey, however, was already up. "Aye, Granny! I'm up!" He called back sheepishly, curls of a red flush already traveling up his neck. He shook away the feeling, quickly throwing on a white dress shirt. "I- I'm coming, Gran!" He hustled down the stairs, where an old woman was standing at a stove, boiling tea. "You best get going, Grey. Today is the New Years Festival. If you're late, I'll skin your hide, boy!"
"Ah! Y-Yes, Gran! I'm leaving right now!"
He grabbed a bag of bread crumbs that was sitting by the door and stumbled out of the threshold. Half down the road to town square, he settled on a bench. A flock of various birds flew down, landing on the ground in front of him. Some even landed on his shoulders and head. He laughed and said, "Hello, friends!" He opened the bag of crumbs and sprinkled them over the ground. The birds flocked, picking up the crumbs with delight. Among the birds he saw a single sparrow, and he gave a warm smile. "Looks like we've got a new friend!" He stayed like that, feeding the birds, for nearly thirty minutes. He had a soft smile on his face as the birds pecked around him.
The sharp voice of his grandmother replayed in his head, and he hastily fed the rest of the crumbs to the birds. "That's right! I have to get going!" Grey trotted the rest of the way down to the square, there was a group of people he knew congregating close to the center. He'd lived in the village for as long as he could remember- ever since he was two years old, so he was pretty familiar with the townfolk. He trotted over to where the mayor and doctor were standing and gave a sheepish, "Hello" to no one in particular

Fiona couldn’t believe it was so late already! Where was Aiden with those sketches? She felt like she was going crazy, waiting for him. Okay, so it was actually still rather early in the morning, but Fiona was an early riser and wished her brother could be the same way. She had already managed to order all of the fabric and threat and needles that Aiden would need for his new collection, and for the next week of mending rips and tears, making adjustments, etc. She even laid out Aiden’s work area all nice and neat so he could have a good start to his work day. But where was he? Probably still sleeping! Or chatting with some of the townspeople as usual. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Aiden was normally a very chatty person. He butted into conversations like nobody’s business and always took his sweet time coming to work if he ran into somebody he knew.
On many occasions, Fiona berated herself for not being more like him, more social. It seemed like Aiden was always surrounded by other people, while Fiona was surrounded by nothing but paperwork. But she chose this for herself. She put her work before everything else. Unlike Aiden, her job didn’t feed off of the creativity and inspiration of meeting new people, learning their stories, chatting with them at every chance. Aiden’s work was always inspired by the people and things around him. It’s what made his designs so great.
Sitting at the front desk, Fiona sighed. She looked out one of the open windows at the shop. It was such a nice day that it was perfect for leaving the windows open. And it meant that anyone walking by would know that the shop was open, even on this holiday. It might bring in a few customers if she was lucky. Or maybe someone would drop in just to say hi. Not that it mattered. She would see everyone later during the festival. It was one of the few occasions during which she would be around everyone at once. It wasn’t that she didn’t like everyone. They were all incredibly wonderful people, which was the main reason why she and her brother decided to plant their roots here two years ago.
Closing her violet eyes, Fiona let the breeze drift over her face and waited.

' Ritsuka, Ritsuka.... ' Oh, right! The bartender. Mercy, but his memory was awful. " Looks like I'm the welcoming committee, then. " The young man chuckled, eyes bright as he swung out an arm to gesture towards the town. " Welcome to Bluebell! My name's William Granger, but hey, just call me Will. I run that farm over there. Probably not, since not only was her brother apparently not expecting her, but neither was their mayor. Marshall was usually the one that welcomed newcomers to town, not the over-enthusiastic farmer.
Indent " You picked a good day to come, " William remarked off-handedly, glancing off towards the town square with a little grin. " The New Year's Festival is on this evening~ " Maybe she already knew that, but... He wasn't entirely sure what else to talk about. Thankfully he was the type that could just babble on about all sorts of useless crud if he was in the mood. A fact that drove his twin absolutely batty sometimes. " I'm not sure where your brother is, but some of the others might have seen him. Most everybody's helping set up for later at the square. " This time he gave a little nod with his head in the direction he was staring to point it out before looking back to his new companion with a questioning stare. He could easily go with her to ask about Ritsuka, or maybe just show her around town and help her look. Or he could just as gladly wander off on his own, if she didn't want him sticking around. He wouldn't even take it very personally; sometimes his natural exuberance could be just a little much for some people.

Like a sheet of paper torn to pieces.
XXXXXI cannot be fully put together again.
Like scattered ashes of loved ones in the wind
XXXXXI'll eventually be nothing more than a memory in your heart.

Bright golden eyes, looking dull stared silently at the clock adjacent to the front desk just on top of the front door.
It was one of days Yggdra thought as he leaned forward, resting his arms on the hard wooden surface of the desk he was currently standing behind. Those days were not many people came to have a nice relaxing dip in the bath, usually Yggdra enjoyed days like this; however today was an exception; he was in fact feeling a little irritated.
"It's such as nice day today out there and I'm stuck in here..." he thought to himself as his ears picked up the faint sound of the bath's running water behind him. Today was the New Years Festival and all what the young man wanted to do is go out to the square and hang out with everyone else. He blew a stray strand of orange locks away from his face as he brought his right hand up to brush more away from his face and tuck it behind his ear. "Shouldn't be complaining though, today's gonna be a good one" he grinned before lifting his head up from his hands, closing his eyes as the spring breeze blew trough the open window and blew against his face. Spring was Yggdra's favorite season; not only was it the season in which his birthday was under (Which indecently was in a couple weeks, not that he was counting or anything) but the orange haired man just adored seeing the bright flowers adorning the houses and fields, all various colors and shapes.
"I just love spring" he chided to himself happily as he reached out and grabbed the glass of water on the table and brought the glass to his lips, feeling the cool liquid wash down his throat. setting down the glass down in front of him he brought his arms up and stretched, it was a lazy day to say the least, but it was a good one. He hoped that Yume, the owner of the bath house would decide to close shop early so that they could see the festival.
That brought another thought into the wonderful mind of Yggdra, where WAS Yume?. "I haven't seen her at all today...I wonder where she is..." he thought quietly to himself as he continued to wait there, losing himself in his thoughts.

Where I am: Town Square :: Who I am with: Marshall, Garret, Yumiko, Skakana, Remy, Ellis, Olivar, Rayn, Aiden, Grey and Emily :: What I am doing: Conversing with Emily and Aden
Although Charles didn't dare to look back at Remy as she spoke, he did listen as she ranted with frustration. Had he done something to upset her? He had done his best to stay calm and composed. He had even kept a smile on his face through their entire conversation. Even so, he might have been a bit harsh with her and probably could have tried to be more understanding. 'Maybe something about me just rubbed her the wrong way.' he thought. For whatever the reason, he felt the need to appollogize to the girl but she was long gone before he even got a chance to turn around. 'Oh well. What's done is done I suppose.' he thought with a small sigh.
He really did hope the girl would come by the library later as he suggested earlier. Even though she seemed like a handful, he didn't think she was a bad person, just angry. At what, he didn't know. Still, he had experienced the soothing properties of books first hand so maybe they could do the same for this girl. It definitely couldn't hurt.
Giving back his full attention to Emily, he was happy to hear that she was understanding of what just happened and hadn't taken offense to him leaving in the middle of their conversation. With a smile, he again listened to her talk a mile a minute. However, while he normally took the time to break down each individual sentence, he had learned that this was hard to do with someone, such as her, who spoke so fast so he employed a different strategy this time. He decided that his best course of action was to just take in everything she said and then pull out a central idea from it all. Hopefully that would work out better for him this time.
When she paused to take a breath, he couldn't help but laugh softly at her last statement. It reminded him of when he was a little kid. He remembered how he would read infamous stories of ghost and witches before going to bed and spend the rest of the night under the covers. He had once even slept with a wooden stake under his pillow, just in case a vampire attacked. In retrospect, it was a terrible idea but he didn't regret it. It was one of his favorite childhood memories. Hearing her appollogize, he smiled and responded, "Don't worry about it."
Just when it appeared as though Emily was about to leave, he watched as a light pink brushed across her cheaks and she cleared her throat. Was she feeling well? He hoped she wasn't getting sick. That would be most unfortunate for her. Thinking this, when she started to speak, he expected her to say she wasn't feeling well and that she was returning home to get some rest but instead, she asked him if he would attend the festival with her. He was absolutely shocked, to say the least. He wouldn't expect her to want to go with someone as quiet as him, not when she was so outgoing.
Needless to say, her question had completely caught him off guard and he stood silently, unsure of how to respond. He could feel a lump start to form in his throat that grew larger and larger with each passing second. Why was he acting so tense? She had said that she wanted him to go as her friend so there was no need to analyze it any further. It was rediculous for him to stress about this. With notion, he forced down the lump in his throat and took a deep breath.
"I-i.." he finally choked out but was cut off by another voice, which Emily turned her attention to. 'Well, it appears I've just dodged a bullet in a way.' he thought with a light chuckle. Letting out a silent sigh of relief, he turned and saw that the newest member of the group was Aiden. He personally didn't know Aiden very well but he seemed like a nice enough guy so he was happy to have him join their conversation. "Good morning Aiden. How are you today?" he said with a warm smile.
