[ Very sorry for the lateness. -_-; ]

Taking the proffered caramel, Harry looked at it a bit suspiciously.

"Thanks Ron, but eh, these aren't some of Fred and George's are they?" He thought for a moment on how exactly furious Mrs. Weasley would be, for perhaps the third time now. For once he was glad that the Dursleys never worried about him. He could take them being angry at him, sure, but the idea of Vernon blowing up over worry was a bit much. He looked at Ron and tried to smile consolingly, but he was sure his best mate saw right through it.

"I'm...i'm sure that once we explain, well, your mum's bound to be happy we at least made it to Hogwarts. Yeah?" He even tried to laugh a little, but it came out sounding horribly awkward.

They could now see the giant school looming in the distance, and down below the Express was beginning to slow. Harry wasn't at all sure if he'd even brightened his own spirits. Deciding "to hell with it", he popped the possibly hazardous caramel in his mouth. Most strangely, he felt the lightning-shaped scar on his forehead tingle a bit, something that hadn't happened since last year. Surely that couldn't have anything to do with the caramels.... He may have to speak to Fred and George, just in case.
As the Hogwarts Express slowed, and they drew further and further from the uniquely beautiful scene that was a thestral's first flight, Luna broke her gaze from the window and watched the students around her begin to take their belongings to lug them off the train and onto the platform.

Suddenly feeling a bit lost, Luna looked for other first years to follow so that she wouldn't go with the wrong crowd to the wrong destination, or more realistically go out and search for different magical creatures and curiosities or the source of a wonderful, delicious, pudding smell.
"Hmm I think I see that." Jazz said, replying to the twin's comment on how to tell them apart. She looked at both of the twins, they seemed a lot calmer and friendlier when they weren't pranking. She stared at Fred for an even longer time, but quickly shook her head and stared at the ground before he realised.

The train stopped suddenly and Jazz was thrown onto her back on the car floor, and everybody's shoes.

"Ouch! Bloody hell, I'm going to have to start wearing a helmet and pads from now on." Said Jazz while she was rubbing her back. She jumped up and looked out the window, sure enough she was at Hogsmeade station, and her second year at hogwarts was just a flying carriage away.

As they came to a stop, Jean and Kathie stood as well. "Well? Shall we?" Kathie said excitedly to the group. She was trying to divert her little slip about her brother. "We've got the same mom. Nothing different about us." Stated Jean simply.

Certainly, Jean had seen the twins. They were all in the same house, and for some reason, he thought they were downright funny.

But then again, so did everyone.

Looking at the number of first years, he chuckled and thought of his first year, nervous little twit and all, before shaking his head and starting out with the rest of the crowd. That familiar sound of Hagrid also brought memories.

For Kathie however.

Who had been scared beyond hopes when she saw how massively big he was. But she knew he wasn't all that scary. He had offered her chocolate after she had gotten attacked by that squid. Aw.

((Train just stopped smile ))
Petra grinned at the twin's playful banter, and quirked an eyebrow when they started whispering to each other.

As the train started to slow down, she muttered "I wonder what house I'll be sorted into." When it came to a halt, she remembered that she needed to meet up with Hagrid, who would know where she's supposed to go. It's not often that students entering the fourth year need to be sorted, and she found the idea slightly humiliating.

"Ah, excuse me," she said with a curt smile, and slid out of the door in an attempt to find him before he was swarmed by first years.

He was impossible to miss as soon as she got onto the platform, and he seemed to recognize her and he waved.
"Why 'ello thar Miss Paisley!" he greeted warmly.
She forced a smile and offered a meek "Hello."
"Oh, don' worry, thar's nothin' to be worrin' abou'. Professor McGonnagall will be meetin ye here shortly - Ah, here she is!"
Petra immediately recognized the tall woman with a tight bun and a polite smile on her face, she was seemingly rushing over in her direction.
"Welcome, Miss Paisley. I hate to rush you but it has been decided that you will be sorted first. It's a rather big to-do, I can't even remember the last time we had an older student sorted. The houses will be most excited."
Paisley forced herself to not sigh unhappily or roll her eyes. This would be fretfully embarrassing.
"Don't worry," said Luna, who had seemingly come from no where, now standing next to the American girl, "I've heard it's a rather fast process, and that everyone welcomes you warmly." Pause. "Even if you're a little different."

Luna was smiling forward, examining what she could see of the route they would take to be sorted.
She couldn't help but smile at Luna. "Thanks."

Professor McGonnagall interjected though, "Miss Lovegood, you should take to the boats with the rest of the first years," she said kindly. "Paisley, follow me."

And Paisley did follow her, to the first of several carriages drawn by creatures that she'd seen quite often in the past two years. She made little of it, and rode up to the castle, dreading the ceremony.

((I needed to use the teachers! Is anyone else interested in doing the opening ceremony/Dumbledore? And I assume people being sorted will do their own sorting hat thing...))
((Until anyone signs up to be those teachers, we'll just have them be NPCs that anyone can control with common sense pleeasse.))

Luna nodded to Professor McGonnogall, smiling a bit at Petra as they parted. She looked around a moment then followed the other first years to the boats.
"I think Dad left them in there after almost being caught by mum, she hates this thing you know" Ron said as he took a tenative chew after Harry voiced his complaints.

Ron's hands had finally stopped their nervous rattling, thinking that his mum would of course be happy to hear that he and Harry were alright. "She'll probably yell so loud when she finds out, we'd hear her over in Charms, I bet" Ron concluded, after brief contemplation. The fear of her reaction had risen out of him, however, once he saw the vast stone turrets coming into view.

"I'm going to take us lower, maybe there's a clearing in the forbidden forest or something.." he decided, pulling on one of the silver throttles located on his left. As he did this, for an instant he thought he heard the car sputter, and his stomach churned. "Did you hear that? he asked, with a clear tone of anxiety.
Harry felt the car lurch. He gulped audibly.

"What was that?" He looked away from the now halted train, where little figures of students could be seen filing out and loitering about obliviously as they waited for their carriages, and turned his attention to the ominous forest below. Hearing more sputtering noises, he searched frantically for a clearing.

"Ron, you do know how to land this thing, right?" He couldn't help but sound slightly panicked.
The car was now sputtering in and out of the clouds, jerking the seats and subsequently the two boys back and forth uncomfortably as they panicked. "D-Dad never got to that part with us yet!" Ron exclaimed, frantically pushing random buttons located on the dashboard. This of course did little good, since Ron only succeeded in turning the windshield wipers and the emergency lights on.

Lower and lower the car fell, Ron could now easily point out the various Hogwarts landmarks if he wasn't so worried about his seemingly impending crash landing. Things he had missed like Hagrid's Hut, and the squid lurking in the deep lake, but his eyes grew wide as he noticed another Hogwarts fixture bearing down upon them -- The Whomping Willow. Its branches thrashing and snapping as the car descended into the foliage surrounding it.

"Hold on Harry, there's nothing I can do!" Ron shouted, clearly frightened -- and for good reason. The Anglia was running on enertia now, there was nothing he could do to avoid the huge, vicious tree in front. With a resounding thwack, the car smashed into the trunk of the enormous entity.

[sorry if I rushed it a bit, didn't want to hold the people up in case they wanted to start the next day smile ]
Lynette nodded in response to both Kathie and Jean's comment. Lynette was hoping for something more interesting, but this would be enough for now. She was going to get murdered by her dorm-mates later tonight, she counted the Gryffindors, four Gryffindors, two of which being Weasleys, and a first-year. It could have done worse, its not like she had spent the ride with Potter. That would have been sentencing herself to a very, very bad year...

Lynette looked over at the first years and picked out a few faces she had seen before, but thought nothing much of it. Her first year had been good, considerly better than her second. Natalie, Lyn's eldest sister, had been a 7th year Slytherin, and had made thingsw much smoother for her...

Lyn put Thanatos inside his crate up beside her trunk where she knew her would be safely put in her dorm later. Following the group, she ducked her head as she saw Slytherins, and tried her best to make it into the middle of the crowd. Looking around she saw an empty cariage drawn by the invisible what-ever, "Shall we?"
