For many years now the world of Pokemon has lived in peace. The plots of Team Galactic has suffered the fate that the teams before it faced, and thus their goal for a new universe slipped away as time went by. The legendary Pokemon of the world disappeared from view, and off into a slumber that hopefully wouldn't be awakened again. During this time of peace legends traveled through the regions, spreading words and trying to shed light on how the legendary Pokemon could remain out of sight for so long. It seemed no artifacts that used to be linked with such creatures could rise them from their sleep and bring their powers out. Had the great Pokemon lost their powers? Was the world coming to an end? Or was it a sacrifice made to keep the world at peace, instead of constantly having evil goons trying to harness their power to rule the world?

In truth, the legendary Pokemon had not lost their powers. Instead, they transferred them into a handful of humans. These humans had the power of a certain Pokemon inside them. They alone held the power to awaken the mighty beasts from their slumber. However, none of them knew that such power was locked away inside them. They grew up and lived normal lives, and continue to live on without the slightest idea that they were keepers of such a thing. They simply enjoy the paths their lives have taken. Be it the joy of being a trainer or a breeder, they thrive in a time where it seems that darkness will never again torment their world. Their world would soon be shattered.

During this time of peace a cooperation grew. From the ashes of the old evil groups, and conducting countless research over the years a new threat was approaching. Team Oblivion. They wanted control, and nothing was going to get in their way. Over the years they kept themselves quiet. Researchers gathered as much information as they could about the legendary Pokemon. Small crimes were made to earn up funds and gather up some henchmen. You know, petty things like Pokemon thefts and a few store break ins. Nothing really big. A building was set up in Veilstone where the old Team Galactic building once stood. At least they had the common sense to disguise themselves, claiming they were a new cooperation made for the sheer purpose of delivering Sinnoh the latest and greatest in Pokemon fashions. The disguise worked and so Oblivion remained under the radar the whole time. They waited, biding their time until they finally had what they needed: the key to reawakening the legendary Pokemon.

That time was coming, and coming soon. Who knew that a simple Pokemon festival would unlock the truth and reveal the Guardians?

"The time of the year has come again for Sinnoh! The Pokemon festival is being held and what better place to have it than Hearthome City, where ties between Pokemon and their trainers are the strongest? Yes, it is that time of year, where Pokemon are celebrated in a variety of acts! There's performances, floats, and fireworks scheduled to go off at night! The event has brought many sellers from far and wide to show off their fine merchandise. Make sure you bring all the money you can, because you never know what rare items or good deals you'll find! Not only has the event brought merchants, but also the people who enjoy Pokemon the most! Yes folks, I'm talking about trainers! You can bet that there will be a lot of battles going on, so if the shows aren't to your liking a hot battle will help you get your fill. Yes, it surely is going to be an exciting night. And for all of you all who can't make it to Hearthome for this event, don't worry! Jubilife TV will have a live coverage of all the hot and happening things going on there! And in other news..."

The festival in Hearthome was always a big event. Items, food, and trainers galore. What's not to love? The Guardians and normal trainers decide to go for whatever reason calls to them. Maybe it's an urge to battle? Or perhaps a desire to find some trinket from another region? Heck, it could just be to hang out with their friends! Whatever the case is that all of them go to attend, with the idea in their heads that this was going to be an awesome night to remember. Oh it was indeed going to be a night to remember...

A few officials from Oblivion and sent out to go moniter the festivities. The boss of Oblivion wants them to keep their eyes and ears open for anything that could be linked to the legendary Pokemon. They agree to go, not only because it was an order from the boss, but because it really was a big event in Sinnoh. Who didn't want to miss out on the party? They wander around, maybe get into a few friendly battles, but still keep their true reason for being there hidden. Neither of them expects to find anything here and it seems that there's nothing that would interest the boss. At least...Until a performance just before the fireworks go off finally goes on stage.

A wandering storyteller with a self-aclaimed knack for seeing and knowing all takes the stage. He astounds the people with tricks of telling fortunes or answering their questions. Nothing unusual, and no one suspects a thing...Until the teller points out each Guardian and calls them to the stage. They are revealed for what they are: Guardians of the great Pokemon. With this news their peaceful lives are over, and it is time for them to make a choice. Do they decide to work together and get rid of Team Oblivion? Do they give into the power they hold and try to take over the world for themselves, or become tempted by the evil cooperation? It's up to you to decide.

Please read all of the rules. Sure, it may look like a bunch of text, but really now. It's not that hard to read it, remember it, and follow it.That way we'll all be happy. If you don't follow them, I have the right to kick you out of the roleplay or refuse to let you join. Oh, and if I add/edit something here I'll be sure to announce it in the OOC thread.

|| Literacy ||
I want people in here who know how to type, spell check what they've written, capitalize, use correct grammar, and punctuate their sentences. It's basic English, folks. Besides, a lot of Internet browsers have a built in spell check tool. If you don't have that, use Microsoft Word or some nice word program you use to type up important documents for work or school. I bet you don't want those to have errors, huh? I do understand a few mistakes. Hey, we're all human. I've been known to have a few typos here or there or accidentally use the wrong word. It's hard to catch unless you reread what you've just typed. Just try your best, but if nearly all of your post have errors you either have to fix it, or get out.

As for posting length, I want at least three paragraphs. Good paragraphs. Honestly, there's a lot you can write. Describe what's going on, describe what your character is thinking. Hell, if worst comes to worst, bring a Pokemon out of its Pokeball and talk to it! I hope you don't have to do that often, but there's really no reason you shouldn't be able to keep this up. If everyone puts in at least this amount you should be able to give out three paragraphs in return. I don't mind if you want to type a whole bunch of paragraphs. By all means, go ahead. Let those creative juices keep on flowing! Though if nearly all of those paragraphs and fluff about how blue the sky is I'd rather you just have three paragraphs of important stuff in your post.

|| Stick To It ||
I want people who are loyal and will stay in this roleplay to the end. Having someone drop out ruins the roleplay, especially when it's one of the important characters. If you know you aren't going to stay with the roleplay don't join. I can't stress this enough! Hey, I understand if you can't get on every day. That's fine. We all have lives off of this computer. I don't expect you to be here 24/7. Even I won't be doing that! But if you're going away for a little while and you know, just drop me a line saying you'll be gone. I won't bite your head off or anything. Promise. :3

And while we're on the subject of posting, I want at least one post a week from everyone, unless they have said that they're going away. That shouldn't be too hard to manage, right? I think it's pretty easy to handle. If you can't manage that, then please don't waste our time.

|| PG-13 ||
I like my account. I'm sure you like yours. I didn't come on here to roleplay pure romance or get into a huge gore fest where all the curse words in the book are thrown back and forth. No. We're keeping things clean here. You want romance? Fine by me. I like it too. Just don't get too carried away with it. If you want to take it farther, take it up in the PMs. Violence? Keep it in line. Cursing? I don't mind. Go on ahead. I just don't want every other word out of your character's mouth to be a swear word.

|| Respect ||
You like being treated with respect, right? Everyone likes to be treated nice. No one wants anyone to go around being mean to others. It really ruins the roleplay. Please treat one another with respect, be it here or in the OOC thread. Treat others the way you wanted to be treated, eh? I bet that rings a bell.

|| OOC ||
For OOC in this thread, if it is necessary, please properly show it. Use (()), {{}}, or [[]]. Oh, and really. Only if it's extremely important. If you have a question, PM me and ask. Or ask whoever you have a question with. Better yet, just post it in the OOC thread. And speaking of the OOC thread, it's a nice little thread where everyone here can chat and hang out while waiting for people to post. Check it out and be social while we're roleplay. It doesn't hurt to make a few friends.

|| Battling ||
I hope you all can be mature when battling. No instant kills, no automatic hits, no dodging every attack. Your attack can't hit every time. Nor can you abuse the "never miss" attacks. I'd recommend NOT using 1-Hit KO attacks. Honestly, what's the point here?Type weaknesses, strengths, and any resistances will be in play. However, it's up to you guys involved in the battle how the outcome will be. Or to decide if an attack like Ember leaves the opponent with a burn. If you guys can't work it out yourselves, then I'll decide. And if I'm having trouble deciding a battle with someone else, I'll be sure to ask someone not involved the battle for their opinion on what should happen.

Now to form your post for a battle...The way I usually do it is by writing out your attack as if it's an attempt. Like you haven't hit yet, and it gives a chance for the other person to react. For instance, instead of saying "Zigzagoon used Headbutt on Cleffa." say "Zigzagoon charged at Cleffa with his head lowered, readying itself for a strong Headbutt attack." It gives the other person (Cleffa in this case) a chance to react by dodging, using a counter attack, or flat out taking the hit. And you are responsible for typing out the damage. It would be the person who received the attack to decide how much damage their Pokemon took, added effects, etc. They have to be reasonable. I'll be watching out for that. I hope you will be too.

|| Pokemon ||
Everyone is this roleplay is allowed to have a team of Pokemon. You get a maximum of six Pokemon and that's it. No PC boxes, no switching. Your choice is final. Also, for your team you cannot pick legendaries. Obviously you can't choose the legendaries that are being used in this roleplay anyway. No shiny Pokemon, or custom made Pokemon. Also, I would appreciate it if you guys all chose different Pokemon. Granted, there can be a few cases of sharing Pokemon. That's fine. Or if someone decides to evolve their Pokemon later in the roleplay. That's fine too, though please make it fit in accordingly and change your profile if needed. I really don't want five people to all have a Pikachu, or something. Really now!

These Pokemon have already been used enough, so please don't choose them: No more Eevees/Eeveelutions even if they aren't already in the roleplay, Piplup, Rapidash, Arcanine, Lucario, Houndoom, Absol (because I'm sick and tired of seeing it all the time), Starmie, Chimchar, and the Swablu / Alteria lines.

On another note, now that Gen V has come out, I want to make this clear now: Only Pokemon from gen I - IV are allowed to be chosen for teams. Simply because this roleplay was created before Black & White came out, and I don't want to mix in new Pokemon.

Finally, let's make this clear. Make ORIGINAL teams. Not all your Pokemon have to be fully evolved, know the best moves, and be "Elite 4 beating champions". Doesn't fly. I'm tired of seeing the same Pokemon because of their high stats in the game and the idea that everyone needs kick a** team in the roleplay. Battles happen, but the main focus is characters. Starters, dragon times, and high tier Pokemon are getting annoying. Choose Pokemon that aren't used often and would be fun to play. Don't choose them because you want that dream team you have in your game. Want that? Go have yourself a 1x1. I'm looking for creative teams that use Pokemon that aren't normally picked. If I see Blazikens or any of the Dratini line every time a search is done, I get annoyed. Be warned.

11/23/09 Add to the rules: Those who are in the roleplay as of the date to the left are allowed to catch a wild Pokemon. Just as long as they follow the rules below. Break these rules, and so help me I'll go back to making things final again. Newer members will have to go by the rule of "The Pokemon you choose when you submit your profile are your final team." No exceptions.

- The Pokemon you wish to catch cannot be used in anyone's party already. Might include other forms of it as well if it's a popular Pokemon.
- They must be of lower level/evolutionary stage.
- They must ask beforehand and have it approved by me.
- If too many people start asking me for them, no one gets them. Also, you can only catch 1 Pokemon in the wild. If you have room for more, too bad.
- Those with six Pokemon already cannot catch Pokemon, nor can they change their Pokemon team.
- Where you catch the Pokemon should make sense.

|| Moderators ||
As of 10/10 this thread has moderators. They are in charge of keeping things in line while Kado is away on a trip, busy with school, or is having internet problems. They help with making plot twists, keeping track of posting, and helping on tough profile calls. They do not have the power to accept/kick out people, change the rules, change the plot, or super official stuff like that. Regardless, treat them with respect as you would anyone. And moderators, don't abuse your power. I'm pretty sure none of you will though. x3
Oh, and current moderators are located in the first post of the IC and OOC.

To make things simplified:
Kado > Moderators > RPers.

|| Mailing List ||
11/17/10 Update! After thinking about it and doing some planning, I have decided to add a mailing list feature to our thread. Basically it allows those who are interested whether they see the roleplay but no slots open or have applied but were not accepted to be alerted when roles become available. The people on this list will be PMed as soon as a role becomes available, and will have the advantage of filling out a profile for the roles before a search thread is created. It gives these guys more time to make a character and perhaps a more narrow pool of profiles for their character to compete with. It also gives me a little less stress when a new role does become available.

For the full information on the mailing list, please go here.

|| Checklist Time! ||
That wasn't so bad, right? Now that you've read the rules I have a nice little checklist for you to fill out. Kind of like a little quiz or something for you to fill out for fun, only this is testing to make sure you've read the rules. No, I don't want you to actually fill it out and send it to me. I'd appreciate it if you just did a mental checklist real fast. It will only take a second. Please check it in your head if you can do whatever the statement says next to the box. Ready? Let's go!

[x] I can type complete sentences, use spell checker, and have passed English. Meaning, you can easily understand what I type without spending hours trying to decode the words.

[x] I will stay in this roleplay, and won't abandon it. Once I send in my profile, I know that I can't back out. Nor will I.

[x] Pokemon is awesome.

[x] I can type at least 3 paragraphs a post, and will post at least once a week.

[x] I will obey the rules.

[x] I will conduct fair battles.

[x] I will treat my fellow roleplayers with respect.

[x] I am awesome.

If you didn't mentally check all of these, you might want to reconsider joining...Especially if you're not awesome.

Here's just a few little tidbits of information that aren't rules, but more pertain to a few different things. Hopefully, they'll save people some confusion or answer a few questions. Hehe...Pokeballs. x3

User Image
How the Guardians look and act will be determined by what legendary they are. For instance, the Mew Guardian would have pink hair. As for personality, you'll get an idea in there in the next post.

User Image
The Guardians can know each other and be friends, but don't know that they are other Guardians. Not until the festival, anyway, where everyone finds out. However, they don't have to be friends. Especially if their legendaries didn't get along in the game/movie. For instance, the Groudon and Kyogre Guardians can always be bickering. Or downright hate each other.

User Image
The Normal Trainers can be friends with the Guardians or even the Oblivion members. In the Oblivion members' case, however, they don't know that their friends are really involved with the evil group.

User Image
Friends between characters can be established in the OOC while profiles are being filled out in case you wanted to have your profile say something about your character's friends. Or they can just be made in the roleplay. For the Normal trainers though, I suggest you try and have a Guardian friend so you stay in the plot.

User Image
The Guardians do not completely control the legendaries, nor do they actually turn into their legendary. Merely, they are the key that awakens them instead of some orb or flute. However, they are better at controlling them since they are somewhat attached in a sense to the Pokemon. They would have a better chance at getting the Pokemon to do something rather than the Oblivion boss trying to do it. Understand?

User Image
You cannot "catch" the Guardians or the Legendaries.

User Image
The Oblivion Boss and Storyteller aren't playable characters. Since their parts are somewhat small, though the boss is a looming figure, they are merely here to move the plot along. No profile will be filled out for either. Instead, they will be played by me in a desperate post when they are needed. Like I said, they are merely here to push the plot. That's it. Sorry. Though they have evolved to become more than just plot characters...But not enough to be considered actual characters.

User Image
You can only play one character. Exceptions have been made to this rule, but most people aren't allowed more than one character.

User Image
You can try for a certain character slot, but you might not get the part. It's not first come first serve. Instead, the best profile wins. If two people try out for the same part, I'm going to have to choose the better profile. So try your best! But don't fill a profile out and decide you're not going to roleplay. I'd rather choose someone who will stay, even if your profile is better. If you see a role in some of the next few posts that don't have an Applied By: area chances are if you apply for that role you'll automatically get it. It all depends. However, if there is already a name in the Played By: area that person got the role. No more submissions for it. They are locked in.

User Image
The roleplay will not start until all the Guardian Slots are filled, and at least one Normal Trainer and one Oblivion Member have been accepted. Even then, there will be a little bit of time allowed in case anyone wants to jump in and grab one of the empty slots. Once the roleplay starts, you might have trouble joining. If it's still in the beginning of the roleplay, you'll be accepted. If not...Well, too bad.

User Image
The personalities listed in the next post for the Guardians are a little summary of what that Guardian should act like, based upon their Guardian. It pretty much just describes the role. For your personality section of your profile, I expect a little more elaboration and all.

User Image
You cannot change the genders of the roles for the Guardians. Nor can you change what legendary they guard. If you have any suggestions, I'll be more than happy to hear them. However, it's my choice to decide if I change anything.

User Image
For the Freebie Slot in the Guardian, you can choose what legendary your character guards. It can't be one of the ones that have already been listed, and you must okay it with me first before you fill out a profile. If there are many people competing for this slot, you're all more than welcome to choose different legendaries to try for it. Like I said, they just have to be approved by me. There's a reason why I didn't choose some of the legendaries, and I was at a loss as to what else to put to make things balanced. So lucky for you all, you get a freebie!
For fun, all current members in the OOC are going to vote on what Legendary the Guardian of the Freebie Slot will be. During this time no one may apply for the Freebie Slot, but you're more than welcome to vote! The voting is now over, and the Freebie Slot has been decided!

User Image
Oblivion Members can be deceitful. They can pretend to be friends with the Guardians and act as undercover spies for Oblivion. They don't necessarily have to reveal who they really are.

User Image
One of the Oblivion slots is Second in Command. You really have to prove yourself worthy for this slot, since you'll be quite involved in what Oblivion does. I'll have to work with you to decide when to have the boss call in, and will consult with you to see what Oblivion should do next. That part should go to someone who is dedicated, active in the OOC, and trustworthy. And really awesome.

User Image
Have a good time with the roleplay!

|| The Sweet One ||
Sweet as sugar and honey combined. You've got a cute, innocent face that could get you out of trouble anytime! Which is really nice, since that happens to you a lot. You can't help it! It's just that you're really curious and love to find things out. Even if it means sticking your head into some serious trouble. Just because you get into trouble doesn't mean you like people. At times you can be quite reclusive, and disappear at the drop of a pin.
The Guardian of Mew

Played By: Incident Tally

|| Ice Queen ||
You're a cold person. Anyone could feel that a mile away, since your stare sends shivers down their spine. You like getting your way, and enjoy bossing others around. Let's be quite blunt. You're a bit of a b***h and times. And why shouldn't you be? You've got the looks, the talent, the money...Everything! You don't seem to like anything, except for that reflection in the mirror.
The Guardian of Articuno

This role is currently closed.

|| Energetic Much? ||
You're always on the go! Here, there, everywhere! Nothing can stop you! You don't ever seem to tire out, and love to spread around your electric personality. Never shy, always talkative, and ready to cheer someone up. You give it your all and never give up! With your energy, your quick on your wit. Mostly fun, though you know when you have to be serious...Sometimes, anyway.
The Guardian of Raikou

Played By: mercenary_shadow

|| Serious & Stubborn ||
You like to stay focused on your goals, and not stray far from them. When you set your mind to something, you'll stay focused on it no matter what. Nothing can make you change your mind! You'll fight to the death with your choice! Despite that, you love adventure and exploring. Aside from arguing and getting things done.
The Guardian of Kyogre

Played By: Spidrei

|| Outcast ||
You prefer to keep to yourself. Others tend to shun you. Probably because you like to rebel, and not be told what to do. You want to be in charge, but feel like you can't, won't, and don't fit in with the group. Regardless, you like having a sense of balance to your life. Having something wrong or uneven really gets on your nerves.
The Guardian of Giratina

Played By: Kadorix.

|| Hot Head ||
Watch your temper now! You're someone who gets easily angered, and work hard to keep that anger under control. You try, but sometimes it just makes you want to explode! You like a good argument, and stay by your choice even if it was the wrong one. You hate to be proven wrong, almost as much as you hate to lose!
The Guardian of Groudon

Played By: Karime Blackwing

|| Tough Guy ||
Well aren't you a macho man? You like to prove you're strong, and don't mind showing off. Even if it annoys people that you're constantly talking about your strength. Even though you talk about it so much, your real friends no you aren't lying. You really are tough!
The Guardian of Entei

This role is currently closed.

|| Our Protector ||
People better watch out if they mess with your friends! You're the kind of person who watches out for anyone and everybody. Especially friends! You love to help people, and don't mind helping out strangers. You don't like seeing people fighting or in trouble, and will gladly step in to lend a hand.
The Guardian of Lugia

Played By: Always_Alone_24_7

|| Wanderer ||
You like to explore. Being stuck in the same place really isn't your cup of tea. You like to get out and move! You always want to aim for the top and do your best, and go as high as you can. No matter what it is!
The Guardian of Rayquaza

Played By: ]-Katsu-[

|| The Cruel One ||
People have been know to describe you as completely heartless. You love being cruel, and aren't afraid to show it. Soft exterior? No. You're nothing but bad, and won't ever show a gentler side. Being evil and mean are your kind of things, and nothing will stand in your way. If anyone and anything tries, you can bet they'll feel the full extent of your hatred and power.

Did you just join? Or maybe you just got back from a trip? Maybe you flat out forgot what was going on. Whatever the case, here is where you can find out where everyone is, what time it is, and all that. Better than reading through a bunch of pages or something.
Updates Every: 30th of the Month or so. If you're still lost, feel free to ask me or someone in the OOC for a head's up. However, it is suggested that you read through the pages you missed.

Location: Varies by the character.
Time: Late morning / early afternoon of the 3rd day in the roleplay.
Event: Groups are just moving on to their destinations, depending on the Guardians they are with/following.
Tidbits of Info:

It is late morning / early afternoon of the third day of the roleplay. The timeskip has happened, and groups are either arriving at their regions or starting off the day to find out more information on the legendaries they seek.

♠ The Mew Guardian is hiding out in the bathroom of the Pokemon Center in Vermillion. Risa, the old Oblivion member, is presumably lost in the crowd. Taiyou and Bellona have returned from touring the town and have met up with Blake at the center. Recently, however, Amari has arrived in Vermillion City. After chasing after her Pichu, the unfortunate electric Pokemon crashed into the group in the Pokemon Center. How will the guys react? [This has not changed since last report - do note that Taiyou is no longer in the group]
♠ Marthelas has stolen an old female trainer's Pokemon and sent them to the big Oblivion boss, Davanian. The boss isn't very happy with progress right now and some of Soun's Pokemon have been used as fodder for his own Pokemon to practice with. It's pretty obvious to see that it's not wise to mess with Davanian. [This has not changed since the last report]
♠ Richard is still in Olivine City, doing his own thing. Perhaps he'll head off to Cianwood?
♠ Yukio has made off with the poor Articuno Guardian. He escaped the city, but crashed into the trainer Aliya. They are still talking in the forest. [This has not changed since the last report - note that Aliya is no longer a part of the group]
♠ Razza has made her debut in Goldenrod City. She is sent off to see if shooting for a movie in Azalea and Ilex Forest. She is not happy about it. [This has not changed since the last report]
♠ The jester has arrived and seen the damage Yukio has done to the Azalea group. He found Rayne and proceeded to slap her awake, something she didn't appreciate much after being woken up. The Raikou Guardian is a bit confused as to what has happened as well as where her friends have gone. [This has not changed since the last report]
♠ Eckhart is not a happy camper at the words of both Leila and Adele. Shin challenged him to a battle, but landing in Slateport has saved the group from what could have been a disaster. At least the Hoenn group has struck land, and their "more than a three hour tour" is over!
♠ Johannes followed Rae and Kaiden on their flight to Cianwood, continuing with his challenge to race them. The two Guardians manage to beat the Commander there and are now at Kaiden's house, expecting a rather surprised conversation with the Lugia Guardian's parents. Johannes, meanwhile, has arrived in town with a rather...colorful experience and a hostage of the crafty Pokemon that painted him.

Our Tale Begins with a Curious Fellow...

User Image
The night before Hearthome was a quite night. Not many people were out and about during the dark hours, especially since every last drop of energy would be needed to fully enjoy tomorrows grant events. The roads leading out from the city were silent, and it was hard to see if anything was coming along the path. Not a sound was heard for awhile except for the calming sounds of nature: a kricketune chirp here, or the call of a Hoothoot there.

The sound of footsteps soon interrupted Mother Nature's nightime tune, as two outlines of figures walked the lonely path. Both had a tired look to them with each step, as if they had been traveling nonstop. Which in fact they had indeed done. As the two grew closer to the big city, the two figures turned out to be a man and a Pokemon. The man was a tall, mysterious looking fellow. His age was hard to distinguish, though his bright and glittering eyes seemed to hold such wisdom upon looking into them. His companion was an Xatu, and the Pokemon's head bobbed with each step. The two had walked a long way, spending weeks traveling all the way from the Jhoto region to arrive in time for Hearthome's event. They had walked nonstop, and managed to scrape up enough money to take a boat over to Sinnoh to make it for the festival. They did have a deadline to meet, especially with the vision.

"My dear friend Xzain...I do believe we have made it." the man said, pointing to a sign outside the town that proudly declared it to be Hearthome. "And with a night to rest and prepare ourselves for the worst." With a sigh he turned to the green Pokemon and looked it in the big eyes.

"..."

"What? You don't think we can do it? Or are you afraid they won't arrive?"

"..."

The man with the top hat laughed and shook his head. "They will come, Xzain. Whether they know it or not, they will be drawn to this festival. It is...their destiny."

The Xatu nodded and its eyes flashed as it peered deep into its companions. If any other soul was around, they would have heard the strangest thing. A chant? A fortune being told? The only ones around were the pair and any wild Pokemon nearby, but they took no mind. The words echoed silently as the two continued walking into the city to find a place to stay for the night. These was much to be done tomorrow.

" Our lives have been sheer luxary
All we know is peace
No sight of any danger
No roar from a legendary beast

But the time for peace is gone
Evil comes again
With no aid from the Pokemon
It could be our end

Time is running short
We cannot hesitate
The Great Ones must rise again
The Guardians hold our fate"

"I've got to keep things balanced
They've got to stay in line.
Without order and reason
I think I'll lose my mind."

Before the sun could make its full rotation in the sky, the party in Hearthome City was already going. All day the news had nothing to say except for nonstop information about the weather over Hearthome, events going on, and footage of the whole place being set up to party. All week long the citizens of Hearthome watched their happy city transform into a dazzling display of lights, decor, and commerce. Merchants had arrived from overseas days in advance, reserving choice spots to set up shop for the big day. Restaurants spent weeks preparing new cuisine and recipes to really wow their customers, though taking the liberty to raise their prices. It didn't matter to them. No stranger out of town or some traveler overseas would notice it. Besides, they had every right to take their slice of profits in the festival. Finally that day did come. The grand Pokemon Festival, celebrated every year in cities around the world to express the greatness of Pokemon. How much they were appreciated, how much they helped in daily life, and how great companions they were...All that was shown in a truly amazing night where Pokemon and trainer alike could enjoy the events and festivities.

The sun finally did begin to lower itself onto the horizon, and the multicolored lights that were strung from street to street began to glow. Banners with pictures of happy Pokemon were proudly displayed, and the shopkeepers began to unveil their wares. Crowds of people swarmed the streets, moving around to see all the items, taste the food, and find good seats for the live entertainment. Currently on the stage smack dab in the middle of Hearthome was gearing up to play. Big fans of the players could be heard screaming in delight as their adored band members began to set up their equipment. There wasn't any big fuss from the other people though. A long list of events, guests, and performances would go on throughout the night. And to others, more entertaining things were going on....

A lone figure stood outside the outskirts of Hearthome City, away from the party that was taking place. One look at the figure would reveal that it was a young woman, and it didn't look like she was too keen on joining the fun. Her long blond hair fell to her sides, tied up at the top of her head by two black ribbons. Her red eyes glared at the scene ahead, and a frown was formed by her lips. She wore a long, dark coat that covered her body and made her blend in with the shadows where no one could see here. A black messenger bag was at her side, containing her belongings and four bright red Pokeballs were clipped to her belt. She stood in the shadows of a building, where the darkness was strong. It was there that no one stared, no one shunned her...It was peaceful. At first glance it seemed she was happy to be away from the crowd, fun, and merriment. Once you got past the surface, however, a part of her ached to belong. Such was the life of Rae Arnor: the lone wolf, the freak, the outcast.

Look at them all...Dancing, shopping, socializing with one another... she thought to herself as she scanned the events of the festival. The sounds of laughter, music, and battling reached her ears and made her frown more. They must be having a lot of fun. Being together without a worry or a care. Simply belonging... Such a thought made her hard stare soften and her frown looked almost sad. Though the image didn't last long. Did she dare head over there to join in? What could she expect? A lot of shunning from people, odd stares, and whispered comments behind her back. That was always the case whenever she went somewhere as a kid. Not much had changed since then, and she had long ago given up on belonging. What was the point when no matter how hard she tried she was still an outcast? Nothing good came out of it. So what good would come out of going to Hearthome's Pokemon Center? There wasn't anything worthwhile there. Aside from shopping, food, and battling. Suddenly her eyes lit up and seemed to sparkle with a new light. Battling? If that was the case...

Before she could think anymore Rae began to move forward a few paces. When she realized her movement she stopped and shook her head. "I'm not going to go there and look like a fool." she muttered. After all, most people there were with a group. It would make her look even more like a freak if she went in alone. But she wasn't alone! Her eyes wandered from the festivities ahead to her belt where the red spheres sat waiting. Perhaps she should let one of her Pokemon out. No doubt they would enjoy the fresh air and fun. But who to choose...Noa would just be causing a bunch of trouble, her icy claws unable to resist any glittering item. Pyo would be bugging her to death, and Aya would be a kill joy. Auros then? That sounded like a good idea. She unhooked the ball from her belt and pressed the button on the center to release the creature inside. A red light flashed out from the sphere, and a Lucario appeared next to her. The Pokemon's own red eyes looked up to his trainer.

"Look over there, Auros. See the festival?" Rae asked, pointing over to where all the people and lights were. The Fighting type Pokemon nodded. "Looks like fun, right?" Another nod from Auros, followed by a soft "Rio." in agreement. "Think we should head over there and see if we could have a little fun? Do a little bit of shopping and maybe catch a few shows?" One more nod from the Lucario settled the matter, and the two figures began heading towards the excitement that was happening in the dead center of Hearthome City. Both pairs of red eyes wandered from booth to booth and person to person as they made it to the main street where people cluttered the road. At least there wasn't any threat in being hit by a car, since the roads were all closed, though Rae doubted even the smallest of automobiles could fit through this packed road. They would have a hell of a time trying to get past the people, booths, and Pokemon.

A booth to her right caught Rae's eye and she headed over. It was a nice little stand set up and setting some fresh fruit and vegetables, along with a few treats and drinks. All items were shipped from Hoenn, a sign on the booth declared. Rae rolled her eyes. Everything looked the same to her, though the Pokeblocks were something different. Apparently they were some kind of treat for Pokemon in Hoenn. Hm...She glanced over to Auros. It wouldn't hurt to pick up some for her dear team. She looked back over at the display were different kinds of the wrapped candies were set up, and let out a gasp. The candies...The candies...They were so...unorganized! There was no elegance, no order in the way they were stacked! It was as if the owner of the stand had no concern with how they were presented! It looked as if they were just placed there all willy-nilly with no concern for straightness or organization by flavor type! Without a second thought Rae began to fix them up, setting the different flavors into a pile for each type and making sure they were all stacked straight. She was working so nicely and smoothly, getting lost in her work under the sound of someone clearing their throat rather loudly followed by some stern words caused her to turn around.

"What do you think you're doing?” said the rough voice of an older man. By the looks of his appearance it was easy to see he was in charge of the booth and wasn’t amused to see some strange girl messing with his stuff.

”I’m just fixing up this display of Pokeblocks. They were really messed up and unbalanced...” Rae murmured in response.

”Don’t touch my merchandise unless you’re going to buy!” he snapped in response.

”Well I was going to buy some.”

With those words the merchant’s face lit up and his voice changed completely. ”My apologies, miss! One can never be too careful here. With all these crowds come thieves and all. Now, please, what are you interested in buying”

A couple of minutes Rae and Auros walked away with less money than they had before. Rae held a shiny red apple in her hand, and the Lucario at her side was happily munching on a sour Pokeblock. The girl quickly placed the bag with a bitter, spicy, and sweet Pokeblock into her bag before enjoying her apple. Later she would give those expensive treats to her other Pokemon. They’d better enjoy them for the price...I swear that guy upped the price on them just because I was straightening them up. The b*****d...” She couldn’t help but straighten it up! Things that weren’t in order made her feel...off balanced. And when she felt off balanced she got mad. There was no reason to get upset when such a small thing could be fixed with ease. Ah well...Such a quirk really did make her seem like a freak. Even to her parents.

Finally she finished the apple and tossed it in a nearby garbage can. ”How did you like your Pokeblock, Auros? Good stuff from Hoenn, right?” Auros nodded, and nibbled on the last of the yellow candy. It really was good to him. Such a different taste and texture compared to the Poffins that Rae made from time to time. All in all, it was worth it to the Lucario and he appreciated the gift from his trainer. Rae gave a faint smile at her Pokemon’s joy. It seemed only her Pokemon could make her smile and open up. At least they accepted her better than humans. She attention shifted from her Pokemon back to the things around them. Hm...It would be fun to browse around some of the shops for awhile. That would definitely kill some time until a good show came on. Right now Rae had no desire to lose her hearing from the musical group at the stage. She could hear it just fine frim where she stood. Perhaps she could get into a battle? She had already seen a couple of battles break out, but nothing really impressive. Mostly it was two young trainers going at it with freshly caught Pokemon. As entertaining as it was, she wanted a battle that would get her blood pumping. Perhaps someone would approach her for a fight? That was usually the case. She wasn't one who would normally pick a fight, but more often than not she didn't have to. Even though people seemed to shun her, quite a few of them wanted to strike up a battle with a loner like her. It wouldn't be too long before someone wanted to pick a fight with a "weak", "defenseless" trainer like herself. Apparently keeping to herself was considered weak. Such an idea made her want to laugh...But hey, at least it brought good money to her.

I look on the bright side of everything.
No matter what happens
I'm not one to give up
Even if I hold this great power inside of me

~ As the sun set on the horizon, dusk seemed to fall on Hearthome City. As the lights all turned on, it made the area seem even more beautiful than it was before. People were everywhere and the streets were crowded from all sides. With everyone so jammed packed, it made it hard for vehicles to get through. So that was why they had the area blocked off. So people had to park their vehicles away from where the grand festival was taking place. The chatter and laughter of children and adults alike were heard through the area. Various stores were open and ready for business. During this time, the shop keepers made the best income ever and they sold everything. Everything included poke blocks to various items that a trainer could use. It was a huge range of supplies and gear and all of it was under the incoming night. When the sun set, the night came and that was when everything was going to start.

~ A young girl, about sixteen was one of the many people who came to the festival. She had come far and wide to enjoy it. Beside her was her trusted pokemon. One who would never leave her side and would fight to the bitter end. He was also her best friend; for he was her very first pokemon. The girl smiled, leaning down and picking up her Umbreon. The Umbreon she had named Shadow and the pokemon who she had the tightest bond with. On her back was her black and red backpack and around her wrist was what looked to be a poke-application. It also showed the time and acted as a watch. Tied in her hair was a white and black hairpiece that matched good with her clothes. Also in her hair was a cross barret or hair clip. They all matched good with her dark clothing with her stunned amber eyes and blond hair.

~ Despite her dark clothes, she was the complete opposite. Her personality consisted of happy and high energy. Something that one won't see at first glance. Anyways, she went by the name of Rayne and she had just approached the area, where the grand festival was going to be. Up ahead was a vast stage, that she knew was where the activities would take place. She moved some blond hair out of her eyes and gazed towards the crowd. It was huge and she didn't except anything less from a huge event like this. As she looked around, she spotted other people there. Some other trainers around her age and older. She smiled and wanted to make friends with them all or at least try too. Shadow gazed up at Rayne and she just smiled back at her pokemon. Her attention shifted back towards the stage, waiting for the events to begin.

~Soon Rayne got bored, because all the events just didn't interest her. She shook her head and pushed pass the grounds, so that she could walk around. She wanted to check out the stores and maybe get a pokemon battle in or maybe two. Shadow gazed towards Rayne and the girl smiled at him. "Don't worry Shadow. We'll find something good. For all of you." Shadow nodded his head, as he looked onwards. He seemed to be quite comfortable in her arms.

~Rayne just laughed and walked pass some of the open shops. She moved some blond hair out of her face, as she gazed at a shop selling poke blocks. Shadow's eyes lite up in happiness and Rayne knew what he wanted. She bought a bunch, not minding how the candles were stacked. It really didn't bother her at, she was just her for the treats. She packed most of them up and handed a few to Shadow. Shadow happily chomped down on it. She laughed and walked around again, looking at anything and everything. No set destination in mind, besides she had to kill time before the interesting events happened.

Before I truly unlock it
And than I'll really be aware
Of everything going around me
You want a piece of me....

"Reioko, use flamethrower!" a cool and suave voice called out as the red pokemon complied, breathing a thick stream of fire from deep inside itself. The pokemon he was battling, a Vileplume, was unable to escape the fiery attack and fell backwards to the ground, unconscious. "Reioko, return!" the same voice called out once again as the pokemon returned to its pokeball. "Pathetic. All three of your pokemon fell to my Flareon. Try again when you get stronger." "Noooo! Vileplume! Are you ok?!?!" the other trainer called out as he rushed to its side to help it. "You didn't have to use such a powerful attack, you know! It only just evolved to this state!" he yelled angrily. "Tell it to someone who cares." he replied and walked away.

The man with the Flareon was slightly taller than average, standing at 6'1" tall. His hair had a purple tint to it that could be seen throughout the natural black colour. His eyes had the same purple tint, but they held a cold, steely gaze to any who happened to be paying attention. Black was his colour, and it would be a rare sight to see him in something other than that. Of course, this was the way he looked when he wasn't putting on an act to fool the fashion frenzied populous of Sinnoh. While he was working, he had to act friendlier when people knew who he was, although both personas he used held nothing back in battle, causing people to start rumours of a split personality.

Marthelas Cobralen, second in command of Team Oblivion; or as the rest of the world knew it, he was vice-president of a poke-fashion company. His reason for being there: to discover the whereabouts of either the legendary pokemon, or the keys to unlocking their immense power. His alibi for being there: debuting a new line of fashionable jumpsuits for larger pokemon, such as Snorlax and Onix. As he entered Hearthome city, the festival was already underway, people everywhere in the streets celebrating with battles, shopping, and eating. If it weren't for the fact he had to remain undercover to keep Team Oblivion a secret, he would more than likely be stealing pokemon left right and center.

He and his pokemon had been through many battles on his way from his home in Sunyshore City, so he felt that now would be a good time to stop by a pokemon center before he got challenged to another battle with his weakened pokemon. As the doors to the center slid open, he was greeted by Nurse Joy and the pokemon always by her side, Chansey.
"Chansey, Chansey!" the pokemon exclaimed as he approached the desk, pokeballs in hand. "Hello, and welcome to the Hearthome city pokemon center. It's lovely to see you again Mr. Cobralen. Are you here on work?" Joy asked as she took his pokemon, handing them to Chansey to take care of. "Yes, that's exactly it. We have a new line of jumpsuits for large pokemon coming out, and I'm going to be 'officially' announcing it later today, so pretend I didn't tell you that." he said to the nurse and gave a wink. "Didn't tell me what?" she replied, sending the wink back. "I knew I could count on you." he said and smiled. "Chansey, Chansey!" came the cry of the pokemon again as she returned with Marthelas' fully healed pokemon. Nurse Joy took the pokeballs and handed them back to Marthelas. "Here you go, you're all set! I hope to see you again." she said with a smile and a slight bow of her head. "Don't worry, I'm sure you will." he said, returning her gesture before leaving the pokemon center.

Standing just outside the doors of the busy pokemon center, Marthelas looked around the city at all the activities. Checking his Poketch, he saw there was not much time left before he would be needed on stage. Walking through a steady flow of people, it took him about 10 minutes to get to where he needed to be.
"Ah, Mr. Marthelas Cobralen, good to see you again. It's wonderful that you're able to show up every year as the spokesperson for your company." said an older man, one of the head co-ordinators of this stage. "But of course I must! I'd be a fool to miss this event year after year, now, wouldn't I?" he replied. "Is everything ready?" "Yes, everything is all set up and ready to go. We've done the mic check, your background is ready, you're all set. I think the reaction will be good." the man said with a smile as he brought Marthelas onto the stage.

"Hello ladies and gentlemen! It is my pleasure to present to you, the latest and greatest in pokemon fashion. I'm sure you all remember last year's smash hit, little clothes for little pokemon. We're taking that idea and going the complete opposite way of it to bring you Jumbo Jumpsuits; Train your large pokemon in fashion with our flexible, breathable, jumpsuits. They come in any colour you like and will fit your larger pokemon without a doubt!" Marthelas announced as he pulled a cord, drawing the curtains away from a large image of pokemon like Snorlax, Onix and Lapras, all wearing the jumpsuits, showing a range of warm, neutral, and cool colours. "You can place your orders today and within two weeks you'll have your very own poke-jumpsuit!" he said, having to start yelling now over the roaring of the crowd. It seemed like they had created yet another success, easily keeping their true motives under wraps. Marthelas left the stage, leaving the rest of the hard work to the grunts, taking orders and answering questions. He took to the streets of the city once again, looking for more entertainment, perhaps a battle, preferably with one of the opposite gender, but he wouldn't say no to crushing anyone's pokemon.

....I'll show you a thing or two

Evening was approaching its emergence, as the orange sun began to set on the horizon. The sky itself was a cascade of colours- red, yellow, white... and so much more if one cared to look deeper into the ever-changing art of the sky. The warm air was comforting, and through the day it had been sunny and calm, meaning overall the setting was a pleasant one. Hearthome city was about to host a marvellous festival, no doubt this kind of weather as such was both fitting and appreciated. Stalls were set up all over the place, selling small merchandise to scrumptious foods. People from all over- Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and even lands were many haven’t even heard of, all came to celebrate Pokémon, and how much they meant to them, as well as have a joyous occasion to add to previous happy memories.

However, due south of Hearthome, on Route 212, a battle was about to begin. The area was close enough to the city, you could see the lights reflected upon the darkening sky, and hear the loud bustling crowds exploring the area. The ground was dusty, and nearby there was a large jagged rock that was large enough to be considered a miniature-mountain, and jutted out the ground like a spike. The ground was dusty, and worn from so much travel having recently been done upon it, and natural dirt ‘path’ had been cut through because of this, with trails of fresh green grass either side.

“Fine... I agree to your terms. It’ll be fun battling you, anyway! Ready when you are!” a young boys voice chirped. It was a typical youngster character, really- at a guess, only aged around 13, perhaps fourteen. This trainer had a determined and youthful look in his eye, and wore a trendy pale blue T-shirt, Red shorts, a backwards baseball cap, and a pair of worn but still stylish sneakers. He certainly had a spring in his step, and look rather confident about the battle that was about to ensue. He gripped his first Pokéball, going into what could only be described as a battle stance.

The other figure, on the other hand, was almost a stark polar opposite. A tall boy, a few years older than his opponent for sure- seventeen, to be precise. Dressed in a trench coat with its sleeves seemingly cut off in an awkward yet fitting design, with matching trousers and surprisingly hardy looking jackboots, he seemed to be the kind which easily enough could blend into a crowd at a moments notice... fashion-wise, anyway. The clothing’s colour on the most part matched his hair colour- jet black. The hairstyle was short, but decent.

But some things weren’t very right about this person. Like the way he kept quiet... it was most unsettling for the young trainer, whom had agreed to battle him. The eerie quiet that surrounded this person almost made his skin crawl, as if he were going to attack him at any moment. And his eyes... they did not help ease this thought. The boys eyes were a shade of dark purple, as if they were made out of some hellishly dark amethyst gem. But not only that, but the stare he gave out with them- it was as cold as ice, yet burning. Burning with inner conflict... burning with hidden, pure, hate; ready to burst forth at any given moment. It was if he were looking into his very soul, and was disgusted by what he saw within it.

“Well... before we start, we’ve got to give introductions... its only polite!” the boy continued, finally breaking the silence so thick it could of been cut with a knife. He wanted to make his opponent speak, because at the moment he seemed more like an evil gargoyle, than a human being. “My name is John Tezaki... and you best remember it, because I’m going to be a Pokémon master!” he yelled, raising a fist in the air triumphantly, sporting a standard heroes pose.

The silent figure didn’t even break his gaze in the slightest. By any means, he obviously wasn’t impressed by this boy’s bravado. “I... am Blake Taylor.” He spoke calmly, slowly reaching into one of his trench coats pockets, and taking out a Pokéball. “You have agreed to my terms... lets begin. Single battle... one on one, no switching. Use your strongest Pokémon, or you won’t stand a chance.”
The boy named john nodded with a slight grimace. This guy... he didn’t know how to truly explain it, but he was intimidating somehow. But he was sure he could beat him... he had his friends on his side, right? Friendship trumps everything!

“Alright then, so be it! Go, Hitmochan!” John cried loudly, throwing the capsule which contained his strongest Pokémon onto the field of what would now be a battle. In a flash of white light, a brown humanoid figure appeared, with what seemed to be a pair of boxing gloves for fists. It was a Hitmochan, a fighting type Pokémon, and it appeared to be as excited about this battle as its trainer, with a fiery determination bursting forth from it relentlessly.

Blake lowered his head, which seemed to actually intensify the cold aura which surrounded him- if that were even possible. He used a Hitmochan? So be it... he could use Metagross, but that would be far too easy. No... Another one of his Pokémon needed a good ‘warm up’, anyway., so he would use that. This child was far too peppy... it annoyed him. He would teach him proper respect... the hard way.

“I choose... Aggron.” Blake spoke firmly, casually tossing the Pokéball in his hand onto the field. It clicked open, and in a familiar flash of white light a large creature was unleashed unto the fight. Aggron was a combination of Rock and Steel type, and matched his typing perfectly by being incredibly large- well over triple the size of an average grown man. His silvery grey armour shined in the evenings coloured light, and the “Iron Armour” Pokémon’s eyes radiated a great joy. But this joy was hardly innocent- it was a lust for battle, pure and simple. Aggron was without a doubt going to enjoy every second of this fight, no matter what.

John found himself literally taking a step back- this guy’s Aggron was massive! He flipped open his standard issue Pokédex, and within seconds a picture of Aggron was brought up on screen, as well as a complication of data to access. But... the size information- if it was accurate, then this Aggron was almost twice the size of a normal one! Was that even possible, or more so natural?! He had heard that sometimes Pokémon grow and excel themselves when exposed to love and care... but frankly, he seriously doubted that was this particular persons method.

Even though he was off put, he managed to force on a grin. It was a bit childish and cheesy, but the boy still radiated a playful confidence, even in the face of what some may call a titan. To john, this was Goliath, and he was David. He would win, no matter what.

“That’s a fine looking Pokémon you got there... Aggron, right? Well, you know what they say- the bigger they are, the harder they fall! Alright Hitmochan, let’s do this!
Hitmochan seemed spurred on even more by his trainer’s enthusiasm and cliché but still heartfelt pep talk, and began beating its fists together eagerly, ready to begin. “Hitmo!” it cried shrilly.

Blake peered at it, and his trainer. This boy had big words, and a lot of courage... but there’s a fine, almost non-existent line between bravery, and foolishness. This boy seemed to of crossed it, unfortunately for him. “You make the first move.” Blake replied, crossing his arms and closing his eyes. This stance was natural to him... it allowed him to think better and clearer, as well as been more in tune with his surroundings. By blocking off the sense of sight, he was immune to intimidating looks and illusions- but he could still tell his opponents movements and actions through sound and intuition. However, the more important reason why he did it was less tactical- at least, on the outside. By doing this, he could silently taunt his opponent, causing them to slip up and make brash decisions he could take advantage of. And by the looks of it, John was falling for this psychological warfare pretty badly. The boy’s seemingly happy-go-lucky grin changed to a scowl, and he found himself shaking a fist at his somewhat rude opponent.

“Oi! We’re meant to be battling here, not napping!” he shouted angrily, a small vein popping up on his forehead. However, Blake didn’t move, nor speak. He just kept silent, in that same position- waiting. “Argh! Fine then... Hitmochan, use Mega punch!”

“Hitmo... “ the fighting Pokémon began to mutter, nodding at his masters order. Hitmochan sprang forward, seemingly leaping right in front of Aggron. But neither Blake, nor Aggron did anything. The trainer kept his eyes shut, whilst the giant Pokémon stood there, peering at his opponent curiously. Hitmochan spared no time to let them act anyway, and quickly prepped a punch. His fish began to shine a bright light yellow, as he got ready to launch a powerful mega punch right into Aggron’s steely gut.

“-Chan!”
The fist flew forward like a bullet, and smashed into Aggron’s stomach. The impact was strong enough to cause a slight ripple of air, which made the grass around quiver and dance, as if excited over the battle at hand. Aggron didn’t wince nor show any real signs of pain however, but was only knocked back around 2 inches. Being not only a steel and rock type, but weighing well over 800 pounds meant Aggron was a great absorber of damage, and was certainly a hard Pokémon to budge.
Hitmochan and his trainer cursed under their breath in unison, and stepped back out of intuition. But still, Blake gave no orders- but merely stood there, waiting for something. This infuriated John to absolutely no end.

“Damn it, battle! It’s nice you want to be the future Pokémon master’s punching bag, but it’d be even better if you actually did something, you know?” the young boy criticized, trying to come off as superior by using a somewhat phoney and put-on voice. “Hitmochan, use fire punch!”

Hitmochan nodded, and went forward yet again. His left fist erupted into a blaze of fury, and he swung that punch directly into Aggron’s side, with all the passion he could muster.
A Fire type attack... let’s see how Aggron copes. Blake thought curiously, wondering how a steel type would cope with being directly hit with an element it was weak to. Of course, being part rock type meant that Aggron could still soak up a rather large portion of it, but the critical injury would only be partially softened. Either way, this attack would be a test of Aggron’s defences, for sure.

Hitmochan landed a direct hit, and John grinned. Even if he could tell that Hitmochan had given it his all, and by the looks of Aggron’s face he was definitely feeling the attack, for sure.
Aggron was certainly feeling pain, as the large Pokémon’s face clenched up. The fire licked his armour, and stung badly. However... he was far from put off. After a couple of seconds, he was back to his sturdy form and self again, only now on his face was a contorted grin, as if mocking Hitmochan’s failure of an attack.

“Wh-What?! He’s still standing after that?! What gives!” John cried. Hitmochan felt a bead of cold sweat trickle down the side of his face. These attacks were wearing him out, and Aggron hadn’t done anything- literally.
“Prepare yourself... I’m about to attack.”

John stiffened up- what was this? His opponent was telling him... That he was about to attack? But... that was an idiots move! By telling him he was going to attack, then wouldn’t that give him the hindsight to dodge it and generally avoid his aggression in the first place? That strategy made no sense whatsoever.
“Unless...”
He was trying to make John paranoid. Yeah, that had to be it! If he made him overly cautious, then he’d go on the defensive... which means that Aggron was taking more damage than he letting on, and was close to falling! John chuckled, pleased with himself for not falling for his opponents mere mind games. Nothing would stop this Pokémon master! Nothing!

“Hitmochan, don’t take his bluff! Use Mach punch!” the young trainer cried out, pointing a finger directly at Aggron, signalling to attack.
“Hit!”

The noble fighting type went forward into battle once more, with agility far superior to previous attacks. Mach punch always went first, and was a very quick manoeuvre in general.
Blake opened his eyes just a little, and took in the sight of the opponent moving closer...

Fool.

“Aggron, raise your hands.”
Aggron obeyed, and with a low, thunderous growl lifted his arms and hands up. The Steel Pokémon’s right palm took the brunt of Hitmochan’s Mach punch, and in an angry outburst Hitmochan went on to punch Aggron’s other, right palm too. They were in a deadlock.
“Now... grip.”

“Agg...”
Aggron began tightening his grip around Hitmochan’s fists, completely capturing them within his hands. In short, Hitmochan wasn’t going to go anywhere. But not only was this a tight hold... but the force wouldn’t stop. Slowly but surely, Aggron was beginning to crush the bones in the enemy Pokémon’s hands, with a grip more powerful than any hydraulic yet invented- and what’s more, Aggron was enjoying it.
Hitmochan jolted into a cry of pain, but managed to suppress it shortly after, maintaining what dignity he could. John on the other hand was panicking, and wide-eyed in fear. This was a bad situation to be in, to say the least. “You...” he started, only to be interrupted by a quick reply that made his blood curdle in his very veins.

“Aggron, Hyper beam.”

The giant tyrant of a Pokémon chuckled darkly, mocking Hitmochan’s terrified face. The fighting type was struggling frantically to escape, but to no avail. And at this close proximity, this attack was going to devastating.
Aggron opened his jaws slowly, an orange light building up within his mouth. The beam charged, the light brightening the look of sheer satisfaction in Aggron’s eyes. John looked on in horror, whilst Blake showed no remorse- no pity, whatsoever. This was the way battles were, after all- brutal.

The attack was sudden. The power radiating from the blast was immense, like any other standard Hyper beam attack; and it completely engulfed Hitmochan, who had no chance of escape its wrath. After a few seconds, Hitmochan was no longer visible- only the stream of pure, untapped energy which made up the painful beam. Aggron released his grip, and soon after closed his jaws. The attack was over, and now it was time to see the results.

Hitmochan lay on the ground, lifeless and limp. Burns, cuts and singes covered its body- in short, it was in seriously critical condition, and furthermore would need treatment as soon as possible. John ran to his best friend’s side, dropping to his knees, feeling the stinging of his eyes as tears began to well up. He had never seen any Pokémon- let alone his friend, hurt this bad.

Blake pressed a button on his Pokéball, and returned Aggron without another word.
“I have won... as expected. Now, hand over the winnings.” He spoke clearly and coldly as he walked up to John, lording over him like some kind of shadowy tower or spire.
“But...” John started, staring at his Hitmochan’s condition in disbelief. “How...”
“You lost because your Pokémon was weak, and so are you. It is balance... order, that drives our world and all things within it. Including battling. In order to have the powerful, we must have the pathetic to even it out. You, are the latter.”

Blake’s deceptively wise words held no disrespect- but no comfort, or warmth, either. It was as if the sounds themselves were made of emotionless stone.
“You agreed to the terms of the battle. Hand over all your money as promised, and do it quickly. I will not let you leave here until you do so, and if your Hitmochan does not get treatment soon he will surely die.”

John slammed a fist into the ground. He hated this b*****d... but he was right. And he had a feeling he wasn’t bluffing about not letting him go, either- he knew this ‘Blake’s’ type. He was heartless- Hitmochan’s pain... his death, would not weigh heavily on his conscience in the slightest.
“Fine... here! Take it and leave. I hope it brings you the foulest of luck, anyway" he scowled, tossing Blake a small brown bag, full of odd varying coins and notes, which he caught with a free hand. Blake quickly put the money in the front section of his backpack, and with that turned to leave, headed into the precisely north direction of Hearthome city square.

Now with this funding, he could pay for a hotel room for the next few days. He would rest here, and search the festival setting for battles. It was strange... he always hated crowded places with a passion- he truly did. But for some reason, he found himself drawn to this place. However, he put it down to curiosity for items and powerful trainers to test himself against. What else could there be, after all?
