Welcome to Gaia! ::

[[Thank you for the warm welcome! I am so thrilled to be in a role play once more. It has been so long since I have participated in a group role play so I may be a tad rusty. Also I understand and thank you Radditsu for the changes you have made. ^^]]

'Tripped? Funny thing to do so when a cane is handy in your own hand...' thought Nellie but she pushed the thought aside and indeed began to accept that a man with a cane could fall like any other person. Once again her eyes feel upon the sight of Mr. Hyde chewing on his food like a animal deprived from food for too long. Shuddering, she let her hand fall off Sweeney's shoulder to rest in her lap once more.

Suddenly she was being talked to by the young man across the table once more. Beaming she grinned and nodded in agreement. "Oh! It twould be a fine thing to show you me pies but then again some of my ingredients are...hard to come by...," spoke Nellie but she chose to stop there at her words, giving a side glance at Sweeney before letting out a little laugh, "I am sure I can make do and whip up one of me best pies. Fillet of Beef Pie, one of the finest I must say when the meat is just right and juicy it is."
"I'm sure the Count can get whatever you need," rumbled Hyde, "Especially for a stunning lady like yourself. I'm sure we can all agree, we'd love to try one of your famous pies. At least, I'm eager, Mrs... Lovett. What about you, Franky?" he gestured to Victor with a slice of meat, flicking some blood at the young man carelessly.
((You're welcome =) I'm really glad to have a good Lovett roleplayer on board, which I hoped for when I started and mentioned Lovett had come along with Sweeney))

"Beef pie sounds great, but ... I don't understand, how is beef hard to come by?" Victor asked, more curious than suspicious.
Sweeney gave a soft cough "She uses some kind of secret ingredients, family recipe and all that, isn't that right, Mrs. Lovett?"
Victor smiled as he seemed satisfied by the answer "Oh, right, I see. So that's why they're called the best pies in London then..."

Sweeney Todd returned his gaze to Mr. Hyde with increasing annoyance. Again, he realized it was odd, but he still felt a twinge of anger while Hyde spoke about Mrs. Lovett in such a way. But why did he feel like that, he wondered confused. Did he care at least some for her after all, or was it just annoyance towards a man like that talking about a woman that way, just like Turpin...

The young man started to protest the odd nickname "Actually, my name is Vic-..." But he was interrupted when the blood splattered upon his clothes and he even felt a few droplets on his face. "GYAH!" He yelped and jumped. The poor guy, it was just too much, the monster, the letter from his father saying his little brother had died mysteriously, this whole place with wolves, creepy darkness and vampires; sooner or later he'd really have a nerve-breakdown.
[[Editing and thank you! ^^]]

She sighed in relief with Sweeney' use of words, she was not sure how she would have gotten out of that one had it not been for his quick thinking. "Yes Love, that is it, herbs and such thatare hard to come by."
Smiling somewhat forced smile, Mrs Lovett nodded to Mr. Hyde before thanking him for the kind words. "Now you make a girl feel special for something that any good woman knows how to do if she sets her mind to it although I hope you will not raise your expectations too high for then I shall not know what to do if my pies ain't what you wanted them to be." replied Nellie before she smiled once more.

The sight of the blood moving towards the young man made Nellie shift in her seat, she hated mess even when she was choppin' up the bodies and strippin' the flesh she kept the place pretty clean so this messy man was making her feel annoyed. Suddenly she stood and walked over to the suddenly anxious man, fishing out a handkerchief and wiping off the blood on his face. "Calm down Doctor, it does not stay there forever, we can get you cleaned up I am sure." spoke Nellie calmly as she then handed him the handkercheif and inspected the blood splatter.
"Whoops," commented Hyde, watching Victor jump out of his chair. After a few seconds of stunned silence, looking as though he'd been caught in the midst of a crime, the foul little man smirked, and turned his attention back to Mrs. Lovett.

"Oh, I'm sure they'll be everything I could wish for, and more," he purred, leaning forward across the table, "They are world-famous, after all..."

He could almost see Sweeney's mind snapping. The poor, poor, stupid barber...
"I-I'm sorry..." Victor stammered, feeling embarrassed by his own antics. "I just haven't been myself lately..." He said, his voice almost a whisper and the blood seeming to be the only colour on his face at the moment. He looked surprised when Mrs. Lovett approached him and cleaned off the blood. "T-thank you, madam." He held the handkerchief shakingly. "I, er, maybe I should go to bed... I'm tired from the journey."

Sweeney only rolled his eyes when the lad jumped out of his seat. Seriously, what was he so jumpy about? The whole vampire and blood thing? ... Then again, it was just a tad unnerving to be together with someone that might want to bite your neck and suck your blood out. He shrugged mentally, if someone tried that to him, they'd find his razor stabbed into their own throat.

"Yes, that would be a good idea, lad, you look white as a sheet..." He commented to Victor's want to go to bed. He glanced back to Mr. Hyde, trying to hide his annoyance again by keeping his face emotionless "So, Mr. Hyde, what exactly is your relation to Dr. Jekyll anyway? It would seem he has a ... odd choice in friends."
How Mr.Hyde made Nellie feel a little nervous. She never was truely afraid but nervous and replused were two good words to use as his purred words made her skin crawl.

Smiling, she patted his shoulder before shaking her head. "Tis nothing pet, you just need rest like you said it may be best for ya." stated Mrs Lovett before noting that Sweeney was agreeing on something that he usually was never interested in. Common banter was never one of his strong points so why suddenly would he talk like this? Shrugging, she nodded to Mr. Frankenstein before moving back to sit beside Mr. Todd. Eyes sweeping across the table once more, she settled her gaze on Mr. Hyde once more. He was…a little unnerving since his behaviour was less then normal and since she knew a fair bit what normal should be it seemed that no one at this table was near it.
"With Harry?" Hyde looked surprised, laying his hairy hands on the table top before him, "Ah, now, a few people have commented on this in the past. I suppose we are a bit of an odd pair, aren't we?" He chuckled quietly, studying his hands with a look of interest. "I have an interest in him, and I believe he has one in me. But Mister Todd - it's nothing like you think, sir, I can guarantee you that. You do not understand Harry's position. It's strange, very strange, and can't be fixed by talking."

He pressed his palms down onto the table, and then slid them off, moving his fingers as if facinated by their workings. "So we do not talk about it, and he'd wish me not to say any more on the matter, Mister Todd," he concluded, distracting himself from his hands to smile at Sweeney. This smile, although still as creepy as every other one, seemed to hold less hostility than the others. Hyde was not good at dealing with these matters, and rather churned out Jekyll's words again and again, not having his own to fill the gap.
Actually, Sweeney wasn't really interested, mostly he just wanted to move onto another topic from Lovett's meatpies, as somehow the meatpie seemed equal to a woman's flesh in Hyde's mind. "... Right. Well, I'm sure you two have your reasons then, whatever they are." He stood up from his seat "I believe I shall retreat for the night as well... it has been a very long trip after all."

Of course he didn't mention the fact that he was feeling a bit unnerved by this man, who just seemed to represent everything he hated about mankind. His leering, his way of talking... and there was more to it, he was sure. He had that look about him that many of the guards in prison had... the ones that loved to hurt you, just because they could, and they enjoyed it immensely.

"Good evening then, gentlemen, milady..." He said to Mr. Hyde, Dr. Frankenstein and Amie; then he looked to Mrs. Lovett before turning and walking out of the room, wanting to leave before the urge to grab his razor and slash open someone's throat was far too great.
"Evening, Mister Todd!" Hyde called after him, giving a little wave, "See you tomorrow night, perhaps! Maybe sooner, maybe later!" He smirked horribly, and then went back to his meal, pouring himself a close to overflowing glass of wine.

"I think I'll stay up for a couple more hours, all the same. I've been asleep for a long time now, and I like to stretch my legs once in a while. Maybe I'll tour the castle later, hmm? Bound to be some interesting little things around here, don't you think, ladies?"

"Yes, of course Mister Hyde. I'd love to stay up and enjoy the night with you. It is my time of the clock, as you may know," she smiled as she spoke to Mister Hyde. He seemed to have a darker side, or to be one, if that made any sense.
"It really is too bad that Victor had to retire so early in the night." she cut off another piece of steak, and sucked the juices out of it.

<<I'm not gonna be able to post for a few days, because I'm heading back out to Nova Scotia, and my plane leaves today, but somehow doesn't get there until Sunday morning.

So... I'll post as soon as I can!>>
((In the interest of moving things along...))

The remaining guests stayed until their eyelids drooped, Mister Hyde became too much for them, or, in some cases, the food itself ran out. They dropped away from the table one by one, drifting back up to their rooms in the pursuit of rest - or just some privacy. A note from Jekyll, pinned to each of their doors, informed them that they were to meet in the ballroom after breakfast the next morning to start setting up their displays, if that was their interest, or just watch. But for now, it was a time to rest and wait.
CHAPTER II

The Story of the Ballroom

or, moving right along...
Victor woke up early, something he did a lot these days. It seems he was always plagued by nightmares, ones that involved seeing the creature with the yellowy skin and terrible eyes. He got up slowly from the bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, then walked over to the mirror-less vanity, which at least still contained a bowl of water. In the little light there was, it was still hard to see one's reflection in the water's surface, but he could at least see he wasn't looking all that well.

He tried to arrange his hair a little, at least, then cupped his hands together to pick up some water and splashed his face with it. That helped a bit to make him feel better, he thought as he reached for a towel and dried his face off. After that, he took a clean set of clothes from his luggage, and changed into it.

He thought it was best to go down and have breakfast, so he opened the door but was surprised to find a note pinned to the outside. He took it off and read it, then glanced back to the luggage containing his notebooks with all his writing about the subject. He walked back and took the thickest one out of it, the one that concerned the writing on the actual experiment; then he proceeded to leave the room and head down to the dining hall.

When Sweeney awoke, he felt a little disorientated at first; the bed in which he was lying didn't feel like the hard cot he had in the corner of his barbershop after all. Next to that he could feel the faint warmth and the breathing sound of someone lying near him. He opened his eyes and turned his head to see Mrs. Lovett lying there.

Unfortunately, they'd had to share a room, which seemed a little odd to him as it seemed like there were plenty of other rooms, but perhaps not all of them were prepared bedrooms... At least the bed was really large, to his relief, but still he had the feeling that they were assigned this room because whoever did the assigning thought they were a married couple, or at least a couple.

Yes, such typical thinking, but it was after all the custom that when a woman was travelling alone with a man, it would be her husband. Well, if anything, he thought last night, now there was no way that Mr. Hyde would get it in his head to pay Mrs. Lovett an unexpected visit during the night. Not that he really cared, of course, or so he convinced himself. He finished dressing quickly to be done with it before Mrs. Lovett woke up.
Nellie awoke to the sound of material being shifted, the warmth of the soft bed she was against was inviting and she almost took up its offer to return to the fog of dreams but knew that she had to get up whether she liked it or not. Eyes fluttering, her mouth parted to let out a low yawn as her hair messy as it could have been while her hands moved quickly to rub the sleep from her eyes. Looking about the room, her eyes settled on Mister Todd’s and her heart hammered in her chest. Now she remembered, they were sharing a room, and so this could be the reason for Sweeney to be dressed and readied before the normal time. Sliding out of the bed, Nellie moved behind the dressing screen and changed into one of her dresses before quickly piling her hair onto her head once more. Nodding at herself, she walked out from behind the screen and beamed at the brooding man before her.

“Good morning Mister Todd, ready to go down for some food hey?” she started while washing her face in the small bowl that was on the counter, drying her pale skin with the clean towel. Deciding not to use the perfume like last time, Nellie just checked that she looked all good before turning back to Sweeney. “Shall we go together?”
