Welcome to Gaia! ::

Mrs. Lovett followed Sweeney down the stairs, just as quietly - he was his own man, of course, but she still felt she should stay by his side, and perhaps warn him if anyone else came. She pulled the door closed behind her silently, and kept track of Sweeney's movement by grabbing hold of the corner of his jacket and holding tight.

Dr. Jekyll froze, also staring at the knife. Lord above, just how many people wanted to kill them in this place?

He pushed Victor down the stairs and then followed quickly, fumbling in his pocket for one of the vials and pulling the lid off with his teeth. As long as someone else was here, Hyde wouldn't kill Victor, so... he swallowed the potion quickly, cursing himself for changing twice in as many hours, and then backed into a corner of the cellar as he felt the changes start.
Sweeney smirked watching the two get close to the door on the opposite side of the room; and was about to grip the handle of the meat cleaver when it ripped itself out of the board, then chucked itself at the young doctor. "... 'Eh?" Sweeney blinked, staring incredulously between his empty hand and the odd meat cleaver. He hadn't done that, had he? Sure, it has sort of been his intention, but he hadn't suddenly become telekinetic, right?

His question was answered when he noticed the glint of metal in the corner of his eye, and ducked just in time for a knife to fly right over his head, slicing off just a few hairs. "Er... Mrs. Lovett..." He glanced around carefully to see more knives rising from their resting place. "... Run!" He shouted, making a break for the doorway the two doctors had just disappeared in. Unconsciously, he had gripped Mrs. Lovett's hand to make sure she came right along.

Victor had stared back the way they came, and only the vision of the dark-haired barber, the light of the kitchen making him look like the devil himself, was enough for his adrenaline to kick in and run for his life. When Dr. Jekyll pushed him down the stairs, he took them by two at a time, and near the bottom he stumbled and fell hard on the ground.

He groaned, seeing stars for a moment. 'Wow... I never thought you'd actually see stars when you... erm... wait, knife.. stabby.. murderer behind me! Get the hell up!' His eyes flew back open and he scrambled to his feet. "D-Dr. Jekyll!?" He asked fearfully, then looked back to the stairs, gasping when he heard someone come down them. The barber was coming after them to finish the job!
"In your wishes only, lad!" Hyde lunged out of the darkness at Victor, grinning like the maniac he was, but stopped short in his steps. "...did you hear that?" he asked, looking sideways up the stairs in surprise. "Sounds like... screaming..." He smirked at the thought, and grabbed Victor by the shoulders of his coat, dragging him backwards away from the stairs and back into the darkness.

Lovett screeched when she was pulled suddenly after Sweeney, tripping on her skirts a little before she managed to gather them in one hand. Her other hand-- was being held by Sweeney? "Oh, Mister To-" she started, flattered, but was cut off by a knife soaring past her nose. "GOD IN HEAVEN!"
Victor gasped shocked when Hyde suddenly lunged at him, he scrambled backwards against the... well, the sound of bottles rinkling made him realise it was a large wine rack. He winced, feeling the wooden rack sway for a moment, and hoped it wouldn't tip over. And then he was still faced with the possibility that Hyde was going to kill him. Again. So far, this was a superb day... 'I wonder if I'm still going to encounter someone who doesn't want to kill me.

The scream he had heard sounded feminine, so either there was another person up there, maybe a kitchen servant after all, who had stepped in the way of the stab-happy barber, or it was his companion, Mrs. Lovett... but would he try to kill her? He yelped when as Mr. Hyde grabbed him and pulled him away from the stairs. He didn't protest as he did want to get away from the barber, whom, as it sounded like, was descending the stairs.

Sweeney halted at the bottom of the stairs, leaning his back against the wall and panting to catch his breath. One always seemed to quickly out of breath when running for their life. He noticed a little light just above him, then he groaned when he noticed what it was. He reached up and extinguished the small flame between his fingers, on the strand of hair that had caught fire when they had to dodge a flame flying out of one of the ovens.
"Why does everyone want to kill you, Veektor?" murmured Hyde, wrapping his arms around Victor's chest and holding him still. "Could it be because you're so scared? You react, Victor... and I don't know about them, but I would like to make you scream in pain."

He shook Jekyll's glasses off his face, letting them drop to the ground with a tiny clink. The stupid old bat couldn't see a thing without them, and Hyde couldn't see with them - such a stupid arrangement. Now that he could see, he peered into the darkness, lit slightly by the still-burning torch which Victor had dropped. Mister Todd and... Mrs. Lovett. Hyde gave a little satisfied rumble when he recognised the second one, still clinging tight to Victor.

"Mister T..." whispered Lovett, staring around the darkness, "What was that? I... I don't know if we're so safe anymore..." she held onto his arm tightly, suddenly scared. So... ghosts really did make the dinner? Oh my, she thought, and fancied she heard voices in the darkness.
"It's the other way around..." Victor grumbled in a low voice "I get scared because they're trying to kill me..." Wouldn't any normal human do that? He didn't think anyone would enjoy being chased by murderers...

"I don't know..." Sweeney spoke softly back, but he didn't sound angry, just rather shocked himself. This wasn't the way things were supposed to go, people were supposed to run away from him in fright. He glanced back the way they came, only seeing the light from the ovens still up there, but at least no knives were flying after them. Had it been just ... imagination? No, impossible, he wasn't that crazy just yet.

He looked down to see the torch lying on the ground, dropped by Victor when he had stumbled over the last steps of the stairs. "Ah, right... Dr. Jekyll, Dr. Frankenstein? I know you're in here..." He stayed where he was however, to make sure they would have to enter the light of the torch so he could see them, and see if they had managed to find a weapon in here.
"And you run, it's lovely," replied Hyde softly, before raising his voice to address Sweeney. "Doctor Jekyll is no longer with us, Mister Todd, and I have the boy." He reached back to the wine rack behind them, pushed up against the wall, and drew a bottle out by its neck. His other hand still held the cane, but he moved his arm up around Victor's neck in a headlock, to stop him from bolting at the first possible chance. This was just too much fun to let that happen...

He eyed Mrs. Lovett as she moved back away from the firelight a little, unknowingly towards Hyde and Victor. "Mister T... was that.. Mister Hyde?" she whispered, looking particularly pale. "I don't think we should hang around, love..."
Sweeney's eyes narrowed "What do you mean with that, you killed him?" He didn't particularly mind, nor anything about the lad, but wasn't Dr. Jekyll supposedly his friend? But what was far more confusing, was... "How the hell did you get here? We just came through the only..." His eyes widened when he realised it just as he said it. He looked back to the open door to the kitchen above, "Oh, bloody hell!" He cursed. They'd have to go through that again!

Now he was really between a rock and a hard place, and Victor really, really didn't like it. He gave a startled sound when he felt the strong arm grip around his neck, and it was rather painful as the man grabbing him was shorter, thus making his back arch painfully. "I'm not going to run..." He hissed between his teeth. He would if he could, but there was nowhere to go except for right at Mr. Todd, who wanted to slice his throat.
Hyde started to laugh, swinging the bottle around and tossing it at Sweeney. It missed, spinning into the wall near the steps and shattering, making Mrs. Lovett let out a small scream and cling onto Sweeney.

"Kill him? You're most generous sir, but I can work with that!"
Hyde drew another bottle from the rack, pushing the neck of this one into Victor's palm. "Yes, I killed Doctor Harry Jekyll! I clubbed him over the head up in the kitchen, and then pushed him into an oven! Fancy a roast tonight, Mister Todd?" he crowed, and wrapped his hand around the back of Victor's, holding it tightly. "You're going to break this bottle on Mister Todd's head, Victor," Hyde instructed, "And I'm going to help you. I just don't want to get glass in my hand if it breaks wrong, you know."
Sweeney flinched when the bottle hit the wall right next to him, making him glower angrily at the darkness where it had come from, and where Mr. Hyde's voice sounded. "Oh, hilarious, Mr. Hyde." He said dryly, "It's just that I saw him go downstairs with the lad after that knife flew at them."

Victor gripped the bottle 'Oh, but it's fine if I do?' He thought sourly, but kept his comment to himself. They did need to get Mr. Todd knocked out, or out of the way somehow if they wanted to get out of there. Then he blinked and looked at Sweeney at his odd words "Wait, you're saying that as if you didn't throw the knife..." He couldn't help but state, confused.

Ah, so the lad was still alive. Sweeney rolled his eyes "No, I didn't ... And no, I wouldn't believe it either, but those bloody knives are flying by themselves up there! I nearly lost me head too! And then those bloody ovens..."

Victor raised an eyebrow. "... Do you honestly expect us to believe that now?"

The barber shrugged "Not really, but that's why I'm saying it. Would be ridiculous if I just made that up. But sure, I just nearly cut my head of and got put on fire, just to lull you in a false sense of security so I can carve you up. Happy?"
Hyde looked suddenly interested, releasing Victor a little. "Ghosts, Mister Todd?" he suggested, smirking. "What fun. Does this mean we're all stuck down here, all alone in the dark?"

"It really is ghosts, I'd swear it on me oath," said Mrs. Lovett, clinging to Sweeney. She could feel... nothing beneath his coat? "Mister T, why aren't you wearing a shirt?" He must have had a reason, being usually such a polite man...

"Ooh, yes, Mister T! Why aren't you wearing a shirt?" Hyde's eyes shone in the darkness, and he let Victor go, leaning on the cane instead. "Was that the ghosts too? Did they steal your shirt? Will they steal ours? Will they steal... her's?"
"I don't know if it's ghost, it's just..." He paused, thinking that, well, what else could it be? "Ugh, and I was just kidding about the damn ghosts... they just had to go and prove me right. Just perfect, a haunted kitchen. What next, the bathroom tries to drown people?"

Sweeney stared blankly at Mrs. Lovett when she suddenly made the shirt remark. 'No shirt? Oh! Right... it had blood on it... oh, bollocks...' "If ya really have to know I'll tell you later." He hissed in a low voice at her.

He glared at Mr. Hyde "You know what, why don't you try to run through it. If you can make it without being turned into a pincushion, or without getting yer clothes stolen, we'll follow."
"I'm quite content to stay down here, really. It's quite a good start to the evening. There's plenty of alcohol, a beautiful woman, and somebody's going to die," Hyde hesitated for a moment, and then pointed to Victor, "That's you, by the way."

He patted the young doctor on the shoulder friendlily. "No offence meant, but even if I don't get you, I think Mister Todd has plans in that direction, and there's always the 'ghost'. So, whatever way, Rest In Peace, young Victor! I'll miss you."
"What!?" Victor yelled out, shocked. "I don't want to die! Not.. not in a place like this... I never even got to marry Elizabeth... No, I won't just let you kill me, either of you!" He said in a shaking voice, but trying to sound resolute.

Sweeney looked a little surprised at Victor "Elizabeth? ... Is she your fiancée?"

Victor blinked, but at the question, his mind's eye saw his beautiful wife to be. "Aye, sir... Her hair is the brightest living gold an she has eyes like a cloudless sky... she is the vision of an angel..." He spoke, thinking fondly of her; because if he was to die anyway, he wanted his last thoughts to be of her.

Mr. Todd remained silent, looking into the darkness, but not seeing it. Victor wasn't the only one seeing an angel in their mind. "Lucy..." He breathed softly, absently. He felt pain in his heart at the boy's words; the barber shook his head and looked back to the open kitchen door. "It.. they... didn't follow us. If we can make it running to the other side of the kitchen we should be safe... I guess just keep your head low and watch out for the ovens." He glanced to the darkness "It's that or sit here and drink wine all evening.. and night... but we'll have to leave some time."
"You're helping us now?" asked Hyde, raising a hairy eyebrow. Mrs. Lovett silenced him with a loud 'shush', holding a finger to her lips, and Hyde glared back at her. "Don't tell me to 'shush', woman. Why are you helping him? Why would you care, Mister Todd?"

"It's none of your business!" snapped Lovett, taking Victor's arm and dragging him into the light. "We're going now. Come on, Mister T. We'll make a run for it. Mister Hyde can find his own way out."

Hyde let out an audible growl in the darkness, reaching forward to grab Mrs. Lovett by the arm. "No! You won't leave me here..." he snarled, and she yelped when he grabbed her, pulling her back, and held on tighter to Victor's arm. "Let go of me, sir! I'm warning you!"

"And what are you going to do, poppet? Bite my neck?" Hyde sniggered, but still with a sound of uncertainty in his voice.
