It was clear, It's been a couple of
years since it has been this way
I look away but it was the same thing, different day
Little things got me in trouble and I would get it bad
And I hated you and I ain't sorry, just forget it

So he had waited for awhile, but neither the snake nor the cat showed up at his place, so he went on about his business. He trekked slowly to main house, where inside he found the raven haired boy from earlier waiting. The boy saw him and spoke briefly - turning away as if trying to avoid being in his company, but the sheep did not look to deep into it. Earlier he had spoken to the boy out of what he felt was obligation to Akio, but along the way somewhere - when he was addressing the boy, something he said got misconstrued. Giichi did not care whether or not the zodiacs liked him, or whether they understood him - if it had been up to him, he would have loved to have been ignored. He would have loved to have been overlooked so that even if he did not show up, his presence - or lack there of would go unnoticed.

He stepped up beside the boy and nodded the acknowledgement of his statement, but said nothing in return. He did not intentionally want to hurt the boys feeling, be he knew whatever he said, and no matter how he said it - the boy would end up butt hurt. He exhaled lightly and fingered the gift that was hidden beneath of his right sleeve, wondering why the hell he was taking part in this dinner/celebration for someone he did not even know.

Just when he'd placed his hand on the handle of the door, someone else spoke to him - well more acknowledged that he was there in a very off-setting way. He peered off to his left at the slender blond haired man who seemed to creep down the corridor with a purpose. This man was suspect to say the least, but seeing as Gii was not the target - it was not of his concern. If anything was to happen, he was sure that Akio would have this man's head on a platter. He turned the handle just as another person joined their little group. Seeing as he was addressing the raven haired boy as Kaoru, he figured not only that they were close - but that he was also a Zodiac. Once again someone had obtained his government name, and was speaking to him as if they were close, but he thought nothing of it. He shrugged a response and was about to make his way into the dining room, but someone made a comment that stopped him in his tracks - he turned slightly eying the boy for his insult toward the monkey was unnecessary.

He let the door close behind the short haired boy, to collect himself. When he finally entered the dining room, he could hear Akio addressing the people that had already arrived. He stepped through the archway with silent calculating steps. He made Eye contact with not one, rather made his way over to his seat, and set down in one swift movement. As if by second nature his pushed his right leg through the slit of his kimono, and crossed it over the curve of his left - before dangling his left arm lazily of the back of his chair, placing his right in his lap.

It's kinda f*cked up, having your whole family leave you
We all make mistakes, the same for all people
And I was always aware of my surroundings
Forget the pride, sick inside, I ain't proud of what I done
The fam was pretty good but I was stupid and I f*cked it up
Something you didn't know... I'm letting out my story
                      Cuz I f*cked everything up - I regret it and I'm sorry

A nod? That's all he gets is a nod. Kaoru just let of a sigh as he let off a soft sigh not letting it get to him. "...he could have at least said hi...". the young teen said to himself. Kaoru decided to lean on the wall as he waited for Hikaru but now he was greeted by the doctor from earlier. Kaoru gave him a smile as he walked towards him. He didn't know that other people were invited to the dinner. His mom always told him it was for the zodiacs. "Ah...hu Mr. Satoshi!...". Kaoru however had planend on asking the man if he was joining them for dinner, but he was beat to the question asking portion of the conversation, apparently the man was asking about Hikaru. Well of course he would he was a doctor after all. "Oh...I told him to take it easy I'm pretty sure he'd listen.". he smiled but then turned his attention to down the hall and saw Hikaru running. Karou's moth nearly dropped to the floor. Did hikaru not see the doctor right here?!? And further more Kaoru himself told him to take it easy. After a few moments he noticed he started walking, maybe he had seen the doctor.

Now it was Hikaru trying to change the subject when he met up with them. Kaoru just stayed quite, he couldn't dig him out a hole he was digging himself into. Hikaru should have listened. He was going to make the bruise more. I mean it was helping Hikaru out, not Kaoru or Mr. Satoshi. It was a good think Kaoru did keep qiute, it seemed like a servant came and ushered Mr. Satoshi away. It was in Hikaru's benefit at least, he was pretty sure the man can see through his lies. Kaoru surely could and he wasn't an adult. Kaoru watched the doctor and the servant walked off and shrugged. The young teen immediately turned to Hikaru, "Hikaru! I told you tot ake it easy and ou were running. This is serious you know, you can make it worse. The doctor told you the same thing.", the boy said in lecturing tone.

"Come on Hikaru, let's go and if you do that again I'll be mad at you understand? I mean you can have a sprain or broken bone next time and not listening can permanently damage your body if it's something like that. Kaoru walked in and smiled and waved to everyone as he tried to find his seat. He looked at the cards and saw he sitting by Akihito. "AKIHTIO?!" he said a but shocked. Him out of all people? The boy was going to dread this whole dinner. "Maybe we can trade or something I don't want to sit by him, he's evil and mean." The boy whispered to Hikaru. The other person he was sitting next to was a kid. He had to admit he knew nothing about him other than he was the rabbit. But he was a young kid.

Kaoru just sighed and looked at his seat as he took a seat. He then turned to the young boy next to him and smiled, "Hi, I'm Kaoru I don't think we've met...". Kaoru stopped in mid sentence as he saw Akio take a bite of the brownie. He wondered if he liked it. I mean he knew his combination wasn't something done at all so he was curious. Though he thought he would have saved it for dessert.

Ancient writings tell of the snakes healing with a touch of the tongue. The snake in question was the Aesculapian snake. The Romans chose to import this snake to their own temples, rather than to bring in Greek healers. Jayden looked up from her book as she heard a knock on her door. She really hadn't expected to see or hear from anyone this evening again. Listening to the instructions from the old woman she smiled. So that one had been sent to get her had she? Must have been sickening to the older woman to retrieve Jayden. The teacher and that maid had never really gotten along very well.

Standing Jayden headed to her room to change clothes once more. After all she couldn't very well go in her night clothes now could she? Well she could but it wouldn't set a very good example for everyone else. Pulling out a dark green tank top and blue jeans Jayden put them on and smiled. It was nice to not have to wear the teacher uniform all the time. Slipping on a pair of black flats she grabbed a pale green hoodie before walking out of her home.

Turning she locked the door before heading up to the main house once more. She didn't really need a guide because she knew where she was going. Looking around as she walked she smiled as she noticed several family members heading over to the main banquet hall. She had never really been allowed in there before but she had seen it in passing. Desperately she wanted to be part of the main family, to dine with all of them, but deep down she knew that even though this family had adopted her. She would never really be a Sohma. She would always and forever be an outsider looking in.

Dismissing the thoughts she nodded to several of the other people as she passed them making sure to keep the smile on her face at all times. Coming to the dining hall she was meant to be in she paused at the door and looked around. There were already several people there but it was apparent that they were still missing some. Shrugging she looked around and spotted a seat that had been marked as hers. Heading for it she took a seat and mused quietly at all the other people.

Hikaru Sohma

Deep in your smile I see the world seeing me
I'm free to be free, to be what I'd be
When my hearts aching and it's shallow on love
I gaze to the doves and I find it above

▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇

Hikaru looked down to the floor as Yuu tried to lead the doctor away. He really hadn't wanted to get in trouble and have the doctor think he was a liar (he had said he'd be good and stay off of it after all) but he had just gotten so excited that he couldn't help but want to run right up to Kaoru and the rest of the family. Though it seemed that even if the doctor didn't give him a lecture, it would be Kaoru who would do the honors. "I didn't want to make you mad....I just got excited. I mean this is the first big dinner in awhile. And it's Clare's birthday! So I...I guess I thought running for a little bit wouldn't hurt....much." Hikaru explained before he looked to Kaoru's face and knew that the other wasn't joking around. Even Hikaru understood that he shouldn't try anymore excuses. So the boy kept his head down respectfully for his older cousin and nodded accordingly. "I'm sorry.....I won't do it again. I promise." The young monkey promised before looking up into his cousins face. "I'll be good and stay off of it for the whole time it takes to heal, you don't have to worry about a thing. I'll be on my best behavior." Hikaru said, just as one of the spirits, someone that Hikaru guessed was the boar spirit but wasn't very sure about at the moment, decided to nonchalantly call him a name. Hikaru looked to the boar and growled. "George isn't even a monkey you piece of under cooked Bacon! He doesn't have a tail!" The boy retorted, revealing his lack of good insults. "I hope you choke on a pork pot sticker." The boy then turned back to Kaoru and once again seemed to deflate, realizing he had just one something that he probably wouldn't like. "...and I start my promise right now." the boy said before quickly heading into the banquet before anything else happened.

Hikaru walked into the banquet room and almost stopped just to take in the whole thing, there were already more zodiacs then Hikaru had seen in any room other then New Years, and even then, he had never seen Akio looking like he might actually be in a good mood and enjoying himself. Hikaru even thought he saw the man eating some brownie early! The only thing that could, and did, bring the boy out of his happy gazing was Kaoru's astonishment about who he would be sitting next to. "Yeah, Akihito's the ox, he comes just before the tiger so of course you'd sit next to him. Hadn't you realized? Your houses are right next to each other after all. " Hikaru said, wondering if something had happened when he wasn't looking or before the visit that caused Kaoru to not like the cow so much. Hikaru just thought that the ox was kind of slow and boring most of the time, except when they talked about paint. "We can't trade, it's family order....but I don't think he's here yet, and we can find each other after dinner." Hikaru promised, before realizing that he would have to sit far away from his friend as he looked at just how far away their seats were.

Hikaru sighed sadly and walked toward his seat, trying to remember the order so he knew who he would be sitting next to. He didn't have to imagine long as he son found himself walking right up to the seat and finding himself stuck between Katashi, the shy and bookish rooster, and Giichi, the strong but silent ram that wouldn't even answer him at the door. Hikaru wished he could switch with Akihito and sit next to Kaoru, he really missed his tiger friend already. But Hikaru remembered his promise and sucked it up, taking a deep breath and releasing it as he sat between the two older zodiacs, being careful to slide his injured leg down first so that it wouldn't hurt as much later and slid the birthday present to the left so that he would remember to give it to Clare at the gift part. He then criss-cross-applesauced and smiled as he looked to the others. "Hey Kata-kun, Hey Giichi-san. Its good to see you again." He said cheerfully, looking to his brownie in front of him. Hikaru smiled as he took the cell phone charm, smiled, and slid the loop over his ear like a strange earring, giggling to himself before taking a bite of the brownie and reading his note. The message from Kaoru was nice and the brownie was really really good! Hikaru promised himself to give something to Kaoru in return, this was just too cool. HIkaru looked to Kaoru and smiled as he took another bite of the delicious treat, wondering how the cat was truly a stupid jerk, and was even worse by ruining such a good treat.

Take it easy, huh?” Satoshi murmured, wondering if what Kaoru said really truly. To confirm his doubts, he heard a rather cheerful voice echoing behind him. The doctor turned around to see Hikaru hurrying his way towards the dining hall, stopping as he saw the doctor standing next to his friend. The dirty blonde-haired boy murmured a greet, probably ashamed to ignore the doctor’s orders. It was adorable in Satoshi’s eyes, and he couldn’t quite summon up a stern lecture for the young boy. Gently, Satoshi ruffled the top of the boy’s hair, shooting him a smile. “If you can energetically run like that, then it’s safe to say that you’ll recover fast. However, please stop by my office tomorrow so I can reexamine your knee,” he said just in time to have the young man from earlier come up towards him. Satoshi raised a brow as Yuu explained that this wasn’t the party that he was attending; it baffled the good doctor quite a bit which probably cracked his façade. Didn’t Yuu say that he was going to introduce himself to the family? Oh well, he let it shrug past him. This was no time to begin arguments.

Instead, Satoshi smiled and exchanged good-byes to the three boys that were standing around the dining hall. He let Yuu lead the way to the designated party that he was invited to, a bit curious to who he was going to meet and possibly work with. The information that the young male had provided the good doctor was enough to switch Satoshi’s attention from the two young boys and back to his former curiosity. “The main family, huh?” the blonde-haired man mumbled to himself. So that meant that the boys from earlier were part of the main family. He nodded his head as Yuu continued to explain the reasons why the animals were carved upon the door, but--again--the answer did not satisfy. It didn’t take long for the two of them to get to the staff party, and Satoshi noticed that there were already a few bodies sitting around, getting dinner underway. From all the servants, two had stood out to the doctor. One was a rather charming-looking boy, but he was too old for the doctor’s taste; his hair was short with a light, almond tone while his eyes mimicked the same color.

The blonde-haired doctor took his seat across a rather voluminous woman with long pink hair. She wore a green tank top and a pale green hoodie over it. Crisp glasses hid her bright purple eyes. Did all members of the Sohma clan had these outrageous eye colors? He shot a nod towards the woman seated across from him. “Dozo yoroshiku,” he greeted politely, flashing her a charming smile, “Sekiyama Satoshi des; I’m the new family doctor. May I ask for your name?

                                                                  ||translations: #1 - Nice to meet you;; #2- I'm Satoshi Sekiyama||

Winni was trying to ignore the cat when Kichiro asked if the cat was hers. She glared down at the cat. "Yeah, but she's kind of a pain." Revlis had turned her attention to Winni and stretched out her length to paw just above the girl's knee. She sighed and picked the cat up. She wouldn't admit it, but the cat's purr made her feel better and more at ease. Well until a familiar voice came to her ears making her wince while she was scolded for playing with her cat. She waved to Kichiro as he said by. "I blame you." She said to the cat as she held it up. The cat merely pawed her face with a sheathed claw and meowed innocently.

Because leaving the cat on its own would only mean she'd have a white and black stalker, she stuffed the cat in her messenger bag. Unfortunately that meant it meowed every so often, or purred. She opened the flap and shushed the cat before following the girl and some random boy that she kept calling Taska. Once inside she left the two as they went one direction and she another. Winni was curious, she couldn't help it. She wanted to look into how the dinner was going for the Sohmas. Surely it had to be better than the staff one. After all the Sohma's had a birthday. Winni peeked in, but just as she did a servant walked by and yelled at her to be on her way, making her nearly jump out of her skin. The cat inside her bag meowed in protest to the jerking motion and Winni stuck her hand into the bag so she could calm down her kitty. "Sorry Revy." she whispered to the cat and began walking down the hall to where she should be about this time.

She stopped at the kitchens to get a scolding from the one in charge for disappearing, but it was useless and a waste of breath. They both knew she'd do it again, so she just bit her tongue and stared off at the floor until she could escape again. When Winni did she could faintly hear the cat purring inside her bag, an effort to comfort her owner. "I'm not bothered at all by it." She told herself more than the cat. It was slightly annoying to be scolded, but she also realized it was her own fault. Winni turned into the doorway that led to the staff gathering. She made a bee line to her seat, ignoring everyone around her. She was polite enough to wave and smiled, a hello to some, but she didn't really want to converse with them. Winni found herself rather annoyed with the japanese language at the moment.

Winni looked up from her spot to see a blonde man she'd never seen around and a slightly familiar red head sitting across from her. She figured the woman must have been one of those brief sittings from long ago when she was forced to visit her dad. Winni had always blocked those memories so it was no surprise that she wouldn't know her. The blonde man didn't look like he belonged at all and she found herself rather curious as to how he got here, but that didn't mean she was going to ask. When the talk died down for just a few moments, it was a just a quick break in the conversation, but it was just quiet enough for Revlis' soft purring meow to be heard. As adorable as it sounded, Winni could not have that. Revlis wasn't exactly allowed to be in here, so she smiled and laughed, pretending she'd meowed this whole time. Her face slightly heated up from the embarrassment and she opened the flap of her bag to glower at the fuzzy furball. "Shush!" Winni all but growled out in a quiet voice. She put the flap back over the back and glared at the table in front of her. After few seconds of calming down, she itched to get her sketch book out, but tried to ignore it. If she got that out than Revlis may believe she's allowed to jump out of the bag now. Winni sighed as her gaze lifted to the door as a few more staff members walked through.

Jayden laced her fingers together as she sat in her chair and turning her palms away from her stretched out her arms. She was content to sit and wait for the festivities to begin. Blinking though her attention was directed towards the Dr. as he came back in. She watched the young man make his way for his seat noting how he made sure he looked at pretty much everyone in the room.

Smiling faintly at his introduction she sat up in her seat a little more and nodded her head to him. It was obvious he did not recognize her from earlier that day. She had been in Akio's office when he had come to meet the head of the household. It didn't surprise her though, she could blend if she wanted. Not always effectively but she could. Clearing her throat again she smiled happily and spoke clearly. " Anata o mitasu tame ni yorokobi. Watashinonamaeha-shi jeiden• Korinzudesu. Watashi wa kono kazoku no kodomo no tame no kyōshi o shite imasu."
Again she smiled at him and tilted her head slightly studying him. There was something about him that seemed different to her. She couldn't tell if it was bad or good, just different. "I have not known Akio-sama to allow those outside of the family to join us. You must be a very well respected doctor to gain access to the Sohma family." Even she had been strictly kept to certain family doctors. The main households members were under much more strict care.

Shifting in her seat she smiled up at a maid as the woman brought her something to drink. Taking a small sip she looked at the Doctor over the rim before setting the glass back down. "I hope you found your home well enough." Blinking a thought came to her that made her smile. "Perhaps when the time comes, if you are not too busy, you could be a guest speaker for the children? I had planned to teach them some of the human anatomy at some point and it is always more fun when you get to have a guest speaker come in. That is, only if you are willing and able." Again she smiled at him, her eyes watching to see how he would react to her invitation. She had wanted to find someone in the household who could help her a little with each part of her lessons.

Etsuko Yoshi Sohma

░░░▒▒▒▒▒▓▓▓ ▓▓▓▒▒▒▒▒░░░

________Etsuko had a bit of a habit of rambling about one thing, then in the same breath, rambling about another thing entirely, before another two seconds would pass and she would feel the need to switch the conversation topic, again. The majority of the time, she wouldn't of even realised that she was speaking in such a manner, not unless someone either verbally pointed it out, or their facial expression gave their confusion away. In the scenario involving Kiki, though, the slightly puzzled display upon his face gave him away, and in turn, forced her cheeks to turn an embarrassed shade of red. "Ah- I did it again, didn't I? .. Gomen, Chii-pan" she murmured bashfully, pushing her lips outward to form a pout once she'd finished speaking, in an attempt to try and distract any onlookers with the bizarre shape she had pushed her lips into, which would then draw them away from the pink hue of her face. Apparently, though, she hadn't even needed to make this face, as Hisoka's appearance served as quite a convenient distraction, as well as a pleasant surprise! As soon as her red-haired sibling came into view, Etsuko replaced her pout with a wide, toothy grin and giggled softly as she admired Kichiro practically latching on to Hiso. In all honesty, she silently envied her dark-haired sibling for that; she was by no means bitter toward him, goodness no! Nor would she be likely to confess to being jealous of her older brother- but, it was kind of sad, watching other people being able to embrace someone dear to you, when you were not permitted to, for fear of them turning into something disgustingly demonic. Even so, she maintained her grin, even as Kiki questioned him about Akio.

_________Akio scared her; the further away from him she was, the perkier she would generally be. Etsuko frowned a little in thought- oh no, they were going to have to have a meal in his presence! She had been so terribly excited about seeing Clare and eating cake and hunting for the cake boy, that it hadn't so much as crosses her mind that the terrifying person would very soon be occupying the same room as her and her siblings. She began to fiddle nervously with one of the straps on her dress, her attention only pulling away from the strip of fabric holding the garment up, when Hiso questioned her about the box. The wide, half-circle that was her grin returned within an instant, and it was closely followed by a playful wink in her brother's direction as she tapped her pocket and told him, "I totally got it! It looks really cute, I bet she'll love it, onii-san~". She giggled and then allowed him to go and change, bursting into a cheerful laugh as she was picked up, her legs briefly flailing around, and then placed comfortably upon Kiki's lap. She wiggled about, making herself comfortable upon the bony structures that were his legs, and then sighed a bit once his head came to rest atop hers. "Chii-pan? How close d'you think we'll be to Akio-sama, at the table~?" she would quietly ask, although she didn't really give Kiki much room for a response, as Hiso emerged from the little house almost as soon as she'd asked. She slipped off of his lap when prompted, and then stepped a little bit away from him to ensure that he had enough space to stand back up. She nodded, with an almost excessive amount of enthusiasm, at the suggestion that they should get a move on, before she took hold of Kiki's hand, then offered her other palm out to Hisoka. It was only hugging that she wasn't allowed to do, afterall!

_________Etsuko playfully swung her arms as the three of them walked, which would in turn stimulate her siblings' arms to involuntarily swing along with hers. This notion was quite entertaining to her, which was vividly displayed by her giggling, and somewhat distracted her from the idea of seeing Akio. Her arms appeared to gradually cease their movements, though, as they neared the dining hall and her hands absent-mindedly tightened their grip around her brothers' fingers. She paid some mind to the people Kiki spoke to outside of the dining hall, and offered them a polite grin and a "Hihi!" as she passed them. She didn't recognise either of them, but it was always a nice idea to try and make a couple of friends, right?~ Atleast, that's what oka-san said! 'You can never have too many friends, Etsuko, as long as they're the right kind of friends', she totally remembers her saying it! But at the same time- oka-san says a lot of things she sometimes didn't mean, ota-san assures her, and she doesn't mean the stuff she yells at Hiso or Kiki.. But mostly Hiso. Etsuko fell unusually quiet as soon as they came into the room, partly to admire the beautiful layout! But another part of her, as signified by the sudden pale complexion that befell her face, felt something of sheer horror to find the big, scary, powerful man sat straight in the middle of it all.

_________ Etsuko bit her lip nervously- before being wrenched along with Kiki whilst he shouted at Clare. The sudden movement between the door and Clare's seat startled her, infact once he'd stopped to have his rant, it took Etsuko a second or two to even realise that they'd moved- and then Kiki said something naughty. Pulling her hand out of her brother's, Etsuko put her hands on her hips and would shout back at Kiki, "Kichiro Masayuki Sohma!". She stamped her foot on the floor, simply to display her displeasure- she wouldn't allow him to cut in on her own ranting. "Don't you say those naughty words at Éclair! It's her BIRTHDAY!", she then pointed toward Clare, demonstrating who she was refering to, "You'd better apologise and make friends right now, onii-chan, or I'm not talking to you anymore!". That's right- she went there! Etsuko huffed and turned her head away from him in an almost comical display, folding her arms over her chest whilst she waited for some kind of action to be taken, that complied with her demands. It was only after her little outburst that she would again realise exactly who she was shouting infront of- and then proceeded to run toward Hiso, regardless of Kiki's response. Etsuko would latch on to her red-haired sibling's arm, and then remembering the gift, would pull it from her pocket and almost shyly hand it to him. "Miso soup, would you sit with me and Clare, please-o-please, with sugar on top?" she would quietly ask him, taking a step back as so she was near enough stood behind her older brother. Oka-san's kimono wasn't here for her to conceal herself behind, and so her older brother's limbs would simply have to do, for now. "Pleeeeease~?" she whispered again, in a tone that made the question almost appear as a plea- Etsuko was by no means taking her chances with the scary boss man. Assuming that Hisoka would give in to her request, Etsuko would then proceed to follow after her sibling and situate herself between him and Kiki, whilst Hisoka was strategically put next to Clare.

Akio watched as the people that had been keeping to the door frames began to walk in, which meant that a good portion of the family was already inside and that they were getting the silent message that it was time just to come in and eat, no more waiting for the others. The others. Akio almost sighed as he watched look around and recognized the empty seats, the snake and the horse were the obvious ones, the two of them not having come back with Hisoka Akio could only hope that they were getting ready for the banquet and not planning on disappearing once again. Akio knew that Yoru would want to and more then likely Kasumi would support him, but he also suspected that the snake would want to keep close, so that he could avoid being made obvious that he had worked behind his back. The man was too smart for that. Akio promised himself that if neither found their way to the table by the time he had finished that there would be hell to pay, he wasn't going to take being stood up on the first day since they had arrived. The fact that Akihito hadn't appeared didn't surprise Akio at all though. Akio had seen him playing with his family and struggling to keep the young one in line. Akio both understood and preferred that the man would spend more time making sure that the child didn't run wild around the house.

Returning his thoughts to those that actually had made it to the dinner on time, Akio took the time too look watch each and every one of them particularly taking the time to watch as Giichi came and walked in, being as anti-social as he had been when they had spoken before, but even then, the an had taken the time to say hello that time. "Welcome Giichi." Akio said, his voice even and kind. "Please, feel free to be yourself and relax, there is no one who would hurt you here. We're all family." Akio said as he picked up another bite of his brownie. "And be sure to thank young Kaoru for his gift. It seems that even the younger zodiacs remembered you." Akio said, hoping the ram would take the time to focus on his many other family members. It wouldn't do for the man to be anti-social at the family gathering. He would have to remember that they were family and that many of them had no grudge to bare against him, so shutting himself in would only make his life harder. Akio then ate the bite of brownie and looked to Kaoru, how had just walked in with Hikaru right on his tail. It seemed the two of them already got along, though Akio could hear the complaints of the tiger about seating arrangements. Akio would have spoken up if the monkey hadn't already and instead gave Kaoru a smile before turning quickly to face the sounds of trouble.

It happened to be the arrival of Hisoka and his family. But Hisoka was not the source of trouble this time it seemed. the trouble was not with him being invited nor him being the cat, but rather the trouble seemed to be the family that walked beside him. Kichiro the boar and their younger sister Etsuko, who Hisoka had been forbidden to reveal his true self to. Akio couldn't hide his distaste of the group's entrance and especially with the boar's behavior. The teen had been rude to those at the door, made no secret to some grudge against Akio himself by brazenly glaring at him the moment he entered the door, but worst of all, had openly yelled, cursed, and insulted Clare in front of him. Akio slipped his leg up onto the step, sat tall, and looked down upon the young man with barely disguised anger and distaste. "Kichiro, I would prefer it if you would keep the noise level to a minimum." The man said sternly. "If you wish to speak to Clare then you can speak to her in a controlled tone of voice. If you have trouble doing this, I would have no trouble giving you a lesson in manners." The man said as he felt a small grin play on his face. "I would also like to remind you that it is Clare's birthday, please. Listen to your sister and show her the proper respect for her accomplishment." Akio said, practically demanding an apology to the girl, and to make sure that he heard it. Akio then turned to the young girl and lost his serious expression, though his eyes lost no intensity as he studied the odd girl. "I apologize young miss, but Hisoka's seat has already been placed as has yours." Akio said as he motioned beside him, to the place set beside him on the step. "Hisoka will sit here tonight, and for you....I believe the eat was placed between your other brother and Keiko. Perhaps you could do me the favor and remind your brother of his manners for me tonight. What do you say?" Akio said calmly before turning to Hisoka and offering his hand. "Please Hiso, come up and sit beside me, once everyone is seated we can start the celebration." Akio said, knowing a few events would take place before the dinner was over.

Katashi suddenly noticed the brownie that was sitting pretty close to him and then a smile began to appear on his face. He always forgot to eat meals and he ironically hadn't eaten lunch, so his stomach was growling loudly. The brownie began to disappear by the second. It was rare for Katashi to eat in any way that was not dignified. He normally would have broken it up into pieces and then eaten it like that, but he didn't. He ended up eating up half of it in a matter of seconds.

The sound of his stomach rumbling disapeared and he felt somewhat content to have at least something in hs stomach. It was at that moment that he heard someone say, "Hello, Kata-San!" Kata knew that name anywhere and turned around, smiling at Hikaru. "Hello, Hikaru." He responded, his voice remaining a monotone. "Your knee doesn't look that good right now... you should ice it." He then looked back at his brownie and realized why the brownie was so good. His smile re-appeared as he looked at the cookie dough bits. They were so yummy!

It just took a few more seconds for Katashi to finish the brownie which left him wanting even more. He picked up the piece of paper and then began to read it. It was easy to read Katashi like a book when he was reading. His smile and expression became a bit warm and he looked up at the Tiger whom he didn't see all too much. Yes, he had heard he was shy too. He wanted to know him, he would have to get to know him before the end of this.

Something surprising happened then. when he flipped over the card and looked at the fun fact, he chuckled. It was quiet, but all the same, it was surprising that he was laughing in the first place. But the truth of the matter was that, he found that to be very funny, the fact that people would have the nerve to keep chickens as pets? He could only imagine! He would have to visit Hawaii one day.

As soon as he finished with the letter, he put it into his pocket and then just fell completely silent, not truly sure of what to do with himself. That was when he noticed the adorable rooster key chain that was laying there too. His smile reappeared as he picked it up and examined it before then put it into his pocket as well, wondering to himself what he would attach it to in the end.

xxxxxKeiko was sitting there, bored out of her wits, getting hungrier by the moment when she noticed something. There were yummy-looking brownies that were sitting at everyone's seats. She didn't realize that there was one actually for her until she looked closer and noticed that her name was scrawled on a note. She picked it up and smiled, loving the tiger's compliment about her hair. Once this thing was over, he was going to get a huge hug! He was so sweet! The fact about rats she found to be positively adorable, she didn't know that! She felt stupid about not knowing, too. And then the brownie was positively delicious! A sweet guy that could cook, if only the tiger was older! Keiko would love a guy like that.

                                                          Oh well!

After that she realized that there was an adorable rat keychain, she had to keep from freaking out when she saw it! IT was just so cute! It was adorable just like Ko and Momotaro! Speaking of Momotaro, she looked over there and she felt a bit of relief, he seemed ok, and then there were a few people talking to him. Maybe this whole going to see the family was a good thing for him after all.

Even if that was the case, Keiko felt herself not very happy about it all, she just wanted to go home. She sighed and fidled with the chain, liking that she hda something in her hands to mess around with. While she was doing that as well as thinking, she heard the boar starting to shout. She stiffened and turned around, she stiffened even more when she saw that the cat was there. There was no way to describehow much she hated the cat. She just hated him so much! Gah! Her reasons were simple, first of all, she was the rat zodiac, second, she had been terrified of cats ever since she was a kid, what if she turned into a rat and there was a cat around? She was dead meat! Then last but not least, she had a pet rat when she was a kid and then there was her mom's cat... and it ate her rat!

Keiko listened to the boar yell and then Akio silence it, thankful that the little girl was going to be inbetween her and the loud mouth. It was aroudn that time when she heard that Hisoka was going to be going up to sit next to the lord. Oh hell no. Keiko got up and then slammed her hands down against the table, making the silverware next to her clatter together. Her expression was nothing less than furious. "What the hell are you thinking, Akio?" She shouted, "You idiot! Why does the damn cat get to sit up there next to you? Why? You know he's just scum! He doesn't even belong here! What's wrong with you? What in the world explains this decision of yours? Explain yourself!" Her voice was raised high and her heart was beating fast with anger. "What makes him better than us? Why do you think he has the right to sit next to you?"

o o c ;;; I hope this is ok > - <;; And I hope it was ok with me bolding her shouting, but it's really loud and I wanted to emphasize it without caps.

Curse of the Dragon
"Don't let my love be tragic like Juliet's."

There were days when Ai wondered why this family couldn't seem to go more than an hour without being loud. Admittedly, she was guilty of it herself today, but in general. Kichiro had a tendency to cause such a ruckus wherever he went. She fiddled with the charm on her brownie while both the younger sister and Akio scolded him. What was he so angry about anyway? The two had been getting along well enough when she saw them that morning. Kaoru was also making a bit of a fuss, but he calmed himself down. The kids were all so restless apparently.

She saw Giichi enter and smiled at him, bowing her head in greeting. He certainly did dress up for the party. Even with her dress, she felt like she was too casual. Then she took a good look at what Kichiro and Hikaru were wearing, and then she felt overdressed, so she assumed she was fine. With the little bit of peace that was now coming over the room, which would probably be fleeting, she looked at her brownie a little more carefully. The charm was cute, the treat looked fantastic, and now she actually picked up the note and read it. A quiet rush of air, meant to be a giggle, escaped her. A younger version of his mother. Hopefully, that was a compliment. She wasn't terribly fond of Kaoru's parents and their close-mindedness, but the majority of the family got to be that way, so she normally overlooked it. Only when it threatened someone did she take it to heart. And a tyrannosaurus? That certainly would make an interesting branch to the family.

When Akio announced where the cat would be sitting, Ai could have cheered for him. She really could have. The dragon gave Hisoka a smile. Not only was he allowed to eat with them, which made her happy in itself, but to be given the second most prestigious place after so many generations of the cat being completely shunned- Her smile turned to a shocked expression at Keiko's outburst. Of the entire zodiac, the girl seemed the least likely to yell in such a manner, and to say such words. The dragon looked sad as she whispered to herself since she couldn't muster the volume to speak to the others. "But there's nothing wrong with the cat... Etsuko." Her face paled as she suddenly realized that the little sister was still right there and she wasn't supposed to know. Ai could only hope the girl would take it well, that she'd love her brother enough to overlook the cat curse.

User ImageHisoka was a little surprised the other two didn't comment on the fact he showed up with no shirt on, and without the kimono he had left with in the first place, but these were his siblings... Whenever Hisoka felt like it, at home, he was shirtless too. That's simply how he slept- in a pair of boxers. Just as Hisoka took a deep breath, Kichiro yelled out his pet-name and threw himself at him. Hiso blinked and stumbled back with an "Ooof!" He uttered quietly as he was hugged tightly by his brother. Hiso shouldn't have acted so shocked, Kichiro always did this to show Hiso his undying, brotherly love. THIS is what he lived for... these two right here. Without them, he was nothing, and he would never live up to be anything. Because of Kichiro, and Etsu he strove for sanity, for strength against the part of him he kept so shamefully locked away- the part of him that was the cat, that would easily give in to its' wants, just because it could. Wrapping his arms lovingly around Kichiro, Hiso sighed. "I haven't seen Akio yet.... I wasn't.... feeling well." He said, a bit down. What an idiot he was. How would Akio respond to being ditched by the CAT?! The lowest of the low in this family? Is that why he was being invited? So Akio could get angry with him, and give the other zodiacs some entertainment by watching him suffer? Hiso learned that not EVERYONE would be entertained... there were some, like Giichi, Kaoru, Kasumi, Clare, and Kichiro who didn't want to see him suffer. At the thought of the young tiger, Hisoka felt awful... he must have really cared, if he came to look for Hisoka to deliver his present. After letting go of Kichiro, and hearing Etsuko, Hisoka smiled so brightly at her. There was no one in the world besides Kichi who could make him smile to genuinely, so happily... his world would crumble to pieces if he lost her... not after he had to gain her trust because of their mother...

At her cute little pouty face, Hisoka chuckled, "Good girl, Etsuko. Keep it safe for me, will you?" He asked kindly, and poked her on the nose, before disappearing into the house. Hisoka was known for getting ready quickly. It was one of the things his mom required him to do. If he was needed somewhere, he better hurry the hell up and get there. So that's exactly what he did. Hisoka practically pulled his suitcase apart looking for the right outfit, before he found it, and placed his shoes he'd be wearing, at the door. In about five minutes, he was able to wash the sweat off his face, and change his khaki shorts for a black pair of pants, a gray v-neck shirt, and a red short-sleeved over shirt, with all of the buttons undone, and the collar pulled up. After making sure he smelt nice with deoderant and cologne, he was pulling his white shoes on, over his black pair of socks, and ruffling his red hair into that usual contained chaotic style. Even though Akio had invited him for dinner, Hisoka was still a little paranoid and thought that he'd get a good tongue lashing, before being sent home, so he didn't think it'd be important for him to dress up for the occassion. Otherwise- he probably would have taken one of the kimonos he had forcefully stuffed back into his suitcase instead. As he came out, Hiso placed his cell phone with the cat charm already hanging from it in his pocket. It was impossible to not see how comfortable and happy Kichiro and Etsuko were, so it couldn't dampen his mood, even thinking about Akio.

Instead, he smiled brightly at Etsuko, and had a slight spring in his step when she took his hand and started to swing their arms. "Full of energy as always, I see. Isn't that right, Etsuko?" He squeezed her hand lovingly- it was the very few things he was allowed to do, and to make her feel better about Akio. He wasn't all that bad- he was just strict, and Hiso was afraid of him whenever he was mad, or had the audacity to say no. But really- Akio hadn't done anything brash that he had seen, besides ripping off his beads. Etsuko would be alright if she behaved, and since he couldn't hug her, it was better than nothing, he didn't want to ignore her like he used to when she was a baby, because his mom told him to. Arriving at the banquet hall, Hisoka saw Hikaru, Kaoru, and Giichi first, since they had just taken a step inside the doorway... His smile vanished, and he went from very happy, and elated- to rather stoic. A nod of greeting, and an apologetic look was given to Giichi... he'd have to apologize properly for not being able to meet up with him at his house, he just... had his hands tied with these two. Kaoru went off before he had a chance to say anything, and Hikaru was bickering with Kichiro already because of something he said. Sighing quietly, Hisoka just shook his head. Honestly, he loved Kichiro, but he sometimes didn't always say the right things during the right time.

As long as his comments were harmless, Hisoka wouldn't get involved, and merely followed after Kichiro, with his eyes downcast. He was a little afraid to look Akio in the eye- escpecially once the chaos started. Practically only five seconds passed, before he heard Kichi's loud, angry, and obnoxious voice... That had to be some kind of record or something. Kiki never started so much trouble in a mere five seconds! How remarkable this feat must be for him! Hisoka was about to speak up, and reprimand his brother for being rude, and cursing in front of little Etsuko like that. She wasn't a little girl, because she had heard this words before, especially whenever Urui got angry with Hisoka, but that didn't mean it was okay to expose her to these words all the time. However, before he had the chance to speak up, he was yanked along by his hand over to be near Clare, and where she was sitting. Brows tilted upwards slightly in apology as he glanced at her. He felt a little bad because Kichiro was acting this way towards her after all this time. Clearing his throat, Hisoka was about to get angry when Etsuko stomped her foot on the ground, and let go of their hands to put her hands on her hips and tell him that he should behave, and mind his manners because it was Clare's birthday. Slowly, Hisoka merely shrugged his shoulders, and looked at Etsu with an impressed grin upon his features as he folded his arms across his chest. Once she was done yelling at him, Hisoka decided to finish off with a quiet, and peaceful 'and this is why' statement. "If you don't behave, Kichiro. You'll just make trouble for all of us. You already know what would happen if mom saw you acting like that." Hisoka probably would have been grounded for a week if Kiki got away with that. "Think, before you act- Kichiro... Your actions don't affect just you, anymore. Besids, this is family, you shouldn't disrespect family, especially on their birthday!" As Etsuko came over and handed him the gift, Hiso bent down a bit to ruffle her hair, and take it from her hands.

The box was long, and pink- with a white and polka dotted bow tied around it. "Thank you for holding this safe and sound for me, Etsuko." He said, and wold have agreed to sit by her- and far away from everyone else, to ignore all their comments, and weird stares because of the outburst. Except, Akio's voice rang through his ears and froze the teen as quickly as he had spoken. Eyes widened slightly, and his green gaze flickered off to the side to see him, sitting there... All this time, he had kept his eyes down, and averted, trying to hide his shame, and wallow in his guilt for letting Akio down, and running off like he had, after causing trouble. Sure- this may not be Hisoka's fault, but when Akio spoke, and told Etsuko to tame Kichiro, and where she would be sitting he felt it was his fault, because he hadn't stopped Kiki from saying such rude things, he hadn't stopped Kiki from causing trouble or told Etsu to let him handle it- in his mother's eyes, this would be further proof of his incompetence of being a 'decent person'. Standing there, he was about to avert his eyes, and agree with Akio with his head hung, but he was too shocked to do so when he found out he would actually be staying! The present held in his hand was in danger of getting crushed, as Hisoka's eyes widened so much he looked like a shocked owl. E-e-exuse me?" Hisoka swallowed, his throat suddenly very dry and painful. He was to be sitting with Akio?! Up THERE!? The realization of it made his head hurt, the cat's personality practically have a field day with the news! He was whispering horrible, bitter things into Hiso's ear, telling him how none of the zodiac ever got this privilige. This was just the beginning... he was going to show the zodiac just how SUPERIOR he was!

Hisoka's face paled to match his shoes, and he looked a little sick... His head was beginning to pound, and ache the more he thought about it. How could Akio-sama do this to him? It wasn't okay, was it? He gave a pathetic, side-glance to Etsu and Kiki, wishing they could save him, but there was nothing they could do. Putting the box in his pocket, Hisoka's trembling, clammy hand reached up- about to take hold of Akio's for a comfort... if the God pulled him closer, to step up and join him, then it must be okay, right? Right... But that didn't make anything better. Hiso's face look like he'd just been hit, and was in pain, he was finding it hard to breathe. His hands were shaking terribly, and he tried to hide it... He could feel all of their eyes trained on him, he could already hear their bitter, angry thoughts of "WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING HERE?!" Hisoka thought his imagination was terrible enough, with the cat raging on the inside, having a party, and getting so excited, yelling at him to grab Akio's hand, just grab it! And then... Take his rightful place! Above the zodiac! No longer would he be at the bottom! They could all kiss his a**... Hisoka shook his head slightly, as if telling the cat no, but it would look to everyone else a plea to Akio to NOT make him go up there, and it sort of was.

Hisoka was just about to grab Akio's hand, when Keiko's angry fists was heard, and he yanked it back. The wide eyed teen looked to her with that fear he had in his eyes... And his eyes narrowed into slits. Her anger was fueled at him, she was angry... her fists slammed against the table, making everything rattle. Just as she started to yell, Hisoka clenched his fists and looked at Kichiro would those same terrified eyes, but the pupils turned to slits. No... He knew exactly what Keiko was going to do. She was going to do what everyone else who hated him, wanted to do. She was going to express her hate, and anger towards the cat. But Hisoka couldn't think about that- no... all he could think about, was how Etsuko had just walked away to go sit next to Keiko, and he wouldn't be able to run to her in time. If he was scared just then... he was TERRIFIED now! His heart was beating a thousand times a minute, the cat's anger was suddenly boiling and telling him to shut her up, and his trembling body YEARNED to move. Yearned to go and attack her, to slap his hand over her mouth and nose so she would writhe, until she fell unconscious from lack of oxygen. "E-Etsuko-" Hisoka stammered at first, his trembling proving to be a problem. This was NO TIME FOR FEAR! Clenching his eyes shut, Hisoka balled his hands into fists and put them over his eyes as he screamed loudly, and angrily- with a sneer upon his face at Kichiro, though it wasn't because he was angry with his brother. It was because he was pissed with the people who kept doing this- didn't they KNOW Etsuko was forbidden to know his identity? "ETSUKO'S EARS! PLUG THEM! RIGHT NOW!" He couldn't lose her, he couldn't lose the precious little girl who called him 'Miso Soup'... she would hate him forever if she knew the secrets, the lies they've been keeping from her. Etsuko was his life, Kichiro was his life... If Etsuko hated him, Kichiro would be torn in half, wanting to be with Hisoka because he was a loyal loving brother to the cat, but also wanting to be with Etsuko because she was the baby in the family. He'd be ripping his family apart, and he'd feel guilty for it to no end. Kichiro would be the one to suffer most if Etsuko found out and hated Hisoka, not him- Hisoka couldn't stand to hurt Kiki.

The trembling seemed to stop, and the room was still loud and chaotic with Keiko's angry words she spouted out at Akio and himself, calling the head of family an idiot for allowing him to come here. Hisoka believed her, but the shameful side of the cat he kept locked up, was angry... very angry. So angry, that Hiso snapped... His trembling stopped, and when he opened his fingers to peek through the cracks, his eyes were narrowed... but for a completely different reason. They glared, hateful, piercing, sharp daggers at Keiko. His nostrils flared as he took a deep breath and exhaled. His voice was dark, and venomous- filled with the hatred the cat had stored away ever since Hisoka learned self-control. "Are you through yet? Probably not... that's all you do is whine... It's to be expected from the rat, isn't it? All talk, no bite.. Rats nibble, and scurry, like they should. They fear cats for a reason. You should learn a very valuable lesson from them, vermin." This wasn't really what Hisoka wanted to say, and he would feel terrible once he realized what sort of words just left his mouth, it's just... he couldn't help himself. The cat side to him just seemed to get stronger, and angrier around this household. He nearly snapped once, and Kasumi had told him it would be okay to let loose once in a while... Why'd this have to happen? Why'd it have to occur wen he was at his weakest? When he was actually considering to vent his anger in other ways, rather than bottle it up and act like nothing was there?

tonight with words unspoken

Kichiro would have continued to glare at Clare if it weren’t for Etsuko’s voice ringing within his ears. The black-haired teen turned his gaze towards his little sister to see that she was already scolding him; her hands were placed on her hips and her brows furrowed tightly that they looked rather connected. Her once peppy voice was now replaced with a deep, scary one. Kichiro felt tears form in the corner of his eyes as his little sister threatened to longer talk to him ever if he didn’t apologize to the Dog. With a pout, Kichiro crossed his arms over his chest, turning his gaze away from his little sister and towards the brown-haired girl sitting beside him. He could see the look of anger that flickered within Clare’s eyes, and Kichiro could understand that. I mean, just a few moments ago they were talking like they were the best of friends, but now that the Boar knew who Clare really was he wasn’t about to risk losing his brother, not now. He always didn’t like Clare; sure, she was cute and had an awesome personality, but the fact that she always tried to push herself between he and Hisoka troubled the black-haired teen. He didn’t like the idea that there could be a possibility that Hisoka may no longer need him, may no longer return the feelings that Kichiro poured out to his brother.

He pressed his lips together as he turned his body around, facing the silverware before him. “I’ll try to behave!” he shouted as both Hisoka and Akio began to suddenly scold him. He didn’t want to, but Kichiro knew his boundaries; he didn’t want to spoil anyone’s birthday especially when his little sister was around. He stuck his nose in the air, pursing his lips. “Happy Birthday,” he quickly blurted out before noticing a brownie sitting in the middle of his plate. Kichiro gently folded the note that had been attached to the brownie, reading it to himself. A soft smile spread across his face; he was thankful for the gift, but he just couldn’t express his thanks to Kaoru (he had to look up several times to figure out which one was Kaoru). Even though the feelings in this letter seemed genuine, he couldn’t trust them. How was he supposed to know if Kaoru was just like everyone else in this family? How would Kichiro know that Kaoru wasn’t just pitying him because he and Hisoka were brothers, because Hisoka was the cat? Although, a kind gesture, Kichiro only smiled.

Instead, Kichiro lifted his gaze and shouted from his seat. “Hey, Tony, thanks for the brownies!” the Boar blurted, already giving the poor boy a nickname. He shoved the note in his back pocket and pushed the brownie aside; he was going to eat that for dessert. Kichiro also noticed the small pig phone charm that was attached to the note which only caused a grin to creep up on his face. Before he could figure out where he would put this charm, Akio’s voice echoed within the room yet again, saying that Hisoka would sit next to him for dinner. For a second, a feeling of ecstasy spread throughout Kichiro’s body. Sure, he didn’t like Akio very much nor did he like having Etsuko or Hisoka near him, but the thought that Hisoka would actually be a part of the dinner and not just sitting in some lonely corner made him happy. He was about to clap his hands, maybe hug Etsuko in the process when suddenly the girl next to him had slammed her fists against the table. She was Keiko, the girl from earlier. The Rat.

Hisoka had said something, but the Boar didn’t quite catch it. Instead, the black-haired teen pushed his little sister towards Clare’s arms, mumbling something along the lines of, “Watch her for me” before suddenly standing up. The action was abrupt and caused his seat to fall down behind him. The warm fuzzy feeling that he had felt only but a second ago was gone, and it was replaced by a dark, swirling vortex of madness. Kichiro wasn’t thinking then; he couldn’t think. He didn’t allow himself to think. But the feelings that swirled within his body; he couldn’t control them anymore. Keiko had opened Pandora’s Box. With a quick motion, Kichiro’s hand swept across Keiko’s face; he knew he had slapped her for her face was facing the direction he had hit her, and Kichiro could feel his hand throbbing. The Boar could feel his heart pounding against his chest while a large knot had already formed deep within his throat. His fists clenched tightly to the point where Kichiro could feel his nails digging into the delicate skin of his palms. Again, without even thinking, the Boar grabbed hold of Keiko’s shirt and pressed her against the nearest wall.

Shut up. Shut up! Shut up! Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to say who belongs by Akio’s side and who doesn’t?! Jealous? Jealous that the favorite Rat didn’t get to sit next to Akio today? Hisoka deserves this honor just as much as you!” Tears had begun to pour out of his eyes. Why? Why now? Why were people so mean? What was so wrong with being the Cat anyway? Shouldn’t that have made him special since he wasn’t bound by the chains of the God, since he wasn’t part of the Zodiac? Kichiro hated this; he hated it when ever people glanced disgusted looks at his brother; he hated it when their mother would always hit Hisoka, always blame him for the mistakes that she created. “I ******** hate people like you!” he spat out, slapping Keiko one more time. He could feel the throbbing in his hand, but he couldn’t stop.

                                                                  [[ooc: background music?]]

Akio held his hand out for Hisoka, extending a generous hand to the boy he knew was already thinking of the implications of him being allowed into the banquet room, much less to be invited to sit beside the god, literally seated above those who for years had been allowed to look down on him and any of his past lives. Akio knew that the boy probably wasn't guessing the right reasons but that didn't matter, what mattered was that everyone else took notice of this and would react to it in their own ways. Akio knew that someone would be angry, others would be glad, and whatever happened, happened, the thoughts made him smile as he watched the cat reach out to him for the first time. Akio then felt as the table was smashed by angry fists and a voice ripping through the air like a cool knife through water. Akio watched as the hand that he had been watching was retracted and anyone watching could have seen the obvious change in expression on the man's face. At first Akio was shocked, then came to a realization, and then found himself becoming uncontrollably angry as he turned to the one shouting. Keiko, the young girl, who only moment earlier was staring in fear of Akio's very presence, was now yelling at him, accusing him of having something wrong with him. Akio's face, twisted in anger watched as the girl stood up to him, his eyes shooting a look he rarely if ever showed when he could control himself. It was the stare of judgement. The man's head was banging in pain but he didn't show it, he was cold as his stare. Keiko would not go unpunished and Akio would not forget this anytime soon.

Akio sat there and did nothing as Kichiro stood up and slapped the rat across the face. Akio could tell she would be bruised by the end of the night, experience taught him that if she didn't seek attention it would swell for the next day or so and be extremely painful. But Akio didn't get up, he just sat and looked down upon the scene until Kichiro slapped the girl once more. It was done. "ENOUGH!" He bellowed, his throat burning at the mere volume he used, but he didn't waver. Akio stood up on his step and stepped down as he walked straight to the pair of fighting zodiacs. Akio stepped past the table, up to the wall and grabbed Kichiro's shoulder, restraining him from swinging that arm again. "You've done enough now Kichiro. Now go back and deal with your kid sister! I need no more violence in this banquet room!" Akio said as he looked toward Etsuko. He wasn't sure if she understood or not, if she was frightened or not, but whatever the case, Akio knew she was now something to watch and make note of before a problem was born and got out of hand. Akio pulled Kichiro off of Keiko violently, his hand digging into the other's shoulder as he pulled him off and thrust him toward his seat. "Now calm yourself and remember your manners or I'll suspend you from coming anywhere near any of the other people in this room until I'm sure their safety is guaranteed. That includes your siblings if I must." Akio threatened, making it clear he wasn't kidding around before turning his attention back to Keiko.

Akio took the girl by the shoulders gently, standing her up against the wall with gentle hands before lifting her by the chin, looking at the one side of her face that had been hit. "This is awful." He said softly, almost emotionlessly before sliding his hand over the already forming bruise. He felt where the bruise was going to hurt most and pressed softly, giving Keiko just enough pain to pay attention before leaning in, making it look like he was examining her closely. "I told you, this is a family dinner. We weren't supposed to bring up business. I made that clear when you walked in, just as I made it clear that you weren't to question me. Have you forgotten about that Keiko? Or do you simply need to be trained all over again?"" Akio whispered as he pressed his hand harder against her skin. "Never, question my judgement again Keiko and never let your tongue fly at petty arguments unless you're ready to face the consequences. You are hanging by a thread as it is, I wouldn't want to question your ability to use good judgement, not when family is involved." He said softly. "Your brother is too important to let just anyone take care of him, very important. Don't make me question you again." The man said as he caressed the injured cheek and removed his hand from her face and backed away. "You should have Ai take a look at it. She would help you." He said before turning towards the table. "Your brother is there as well. I'm sure you would like to comfort him as well right? I'm sure he's very worried about you right now."

The man then walked back to the table and walked back to his seat but didn't sit down, instead turned to look at the zodiacs. "Everyone, this banquet was set up in honor of young Clare's birthday and to celebrate the arrival of several of you back to Sohma house. I know that the process of returning is difficult and confusing, but I promise all of you that I am doing my very best to keep incidents like this one from popping up. I do hope that by the end of everything I'll have enough to keep such things from happening ever again." Akio said before looking back to Hisoka. "Tonight is not New Years nor is it any zodiac specific holiday, so right now this is just a family dinner. Hisoka is not forbidden from entering at this point and his seat next to me is simply a practical choice I made. It's not permanent so if you don't like it you can tell me in private and I will take your opinion into account. Until then I don't want to hear anything more about it." Akio said before looking to the doors, servants were waiting with a birthday cake that Clare's parents had sent in, they were too afraid to walk in. Akio waved them in and sat down. "Please, lets just move along and put this ugly incident behind us for the good of the birthday girl." Akio said, sounding tired once again, his energy already fading as his head pounded. The cake people brought in the cake on a wheeled tray and rolled it right up to Clare, waiting for her mark on whether to light the candles or not. Akio once again reached out his hand to Hisoka. "Please, sit by me. That is all I am asking for right now and all that I mean." Akio said, hoping that Hisoka understood, this was not a promotion, it wasn't a prank. It was a simple request to sit beside him and keep him occupied in exchange for being at Clare's birthday and being allowed to present her gift himself.
