One chance.... He should have disengaged at that point. Try to free himself and jump back, even if it meant leaving the sword behind for a moment. But he believed, foolishly, that he could have finished the fight right there. Sharp pain traveled though his arm, eliciting a cry of pain and anger from him as his sword arm was broken at the elbow. He stumbled back, his arm hanging limply at his side, shooting a glare in Soturi's direction while he allowed the sword to fade away into nothingness. He wasn't ambidextrous, wouldn't even attempt to use the sword with his right hand as it would be sloppy, imperfect. Another imperfection he had to fix. He'd rather deal with the broken arm alone, than have to admit that he still had a flaw he had to correct. It was paralyzing almost. Almost.

As long as he had use of his sword, there was a possibility of controlling the fight, of having things work out in his favour. Of course he could still call on the weapon's affinity, but that wasn't the point. He had no weapon, no control. The fight was in Soturi's hands and the thought of that was... upsetting. For someone who didn't even adhere to the rules to have an upper hand was disgraceful. With the pain came anger. Angry that he had lost the control he believed he had, frustrated that things weren't going the way he wanted. If he couldn't get his head back in this he would lose and he could only keep dodging for so long. Already he was taking hits he should have been able to miss, stumbling, pain shooting through him each time his arm was jarred.

Taking a fall, he rolled out of the way and sprung back to his feet, slower than the last time. Panting, he rushed Soturi. He had one last chance and he had to make it count. While he was tiring, Soturi still looked like he had plenty of energy left, though impatient for the fight to end. If the odds were more in his favour, he could try to use that impatience to his advantage, and by all rights he should, but with his opponent showing no signs of tiring, he'd be dead before that happened. Hayden stayed high, only dropping at the last moment, using his good arm to steady him and throwing a leg out in an attempt to bring Soturi to the ground. Seeing him stumble was a start, Hayden tried to make the ground beneath his feet slippery enough that he would fall.

It seemed to work well, until he felt another pop and pain in his leg rivalling that in his arm. Limping around on one good leg like a cornered animal, wasn't the way he wanted to go down in this fight. It was pathetic and he had known from the moment he made this push that if it went wrong, he would lose. "Congratulations," he said, and didn't even bother to try to avoid the hit when Soturi came over and put an end to the fight.

Lillia smirked in triumph as the two bullets swiftly and cleanly pierced through Cornelia’s skin – though the smile was erased as the wounds caused Cornelia to lose her grip on her shotgun as she fired, ending up having a huge spray of fire shoot at her. Lillia’s eyes widened as she was filled with a momentary panic, and after a second of rigidity and shock, her body was finally able to snap out of it and move. She quickly ran to her left, desperate to avoid the flaming bullet coming her away, but she was a second too late.

                                                                    ”AHH!”
she screamed as it grazed her shoulder, and she turned to inspect her burnt skin as she hissed at the scorching pain that slowly spread through her nerves. She looked back to Cornelia, her gaze now hardened and lacking the gentleness it once shone. She breathed heavily as she forced herself to ease the irritation bubbling inside her – Lillia had always hated messy fights, and the look of her charred skin sent a shiver of disgust in her spine.

”Careful now, just one more slip and you just might end up roasting me,"
she jested, though it completely lacked any humor as truth rang behind the words. With her brows furrowed in concentration, she moved to a fighting stance once more, her vision aligning to her next target – her other foot and hand. Better to shoot all her strong points to end this battle quickly - she’d rather just walk away or fail now before she is overpowered by this strange yet familiar emotion. Her heart pinched at the thought of hurting her friend again, but what other choice did she have? Activate Heion. Her breathing calmed, and her mind cleared again. Target locked. With a friendly smile, she pulled the trigger and watched as the bullets sliced through the air and pierced through Cornelia’s skin once more.

”You’re going to need more practice to outlast me, Cornelia!”
she said with a small smile and an encouraging tone. Though beneath it all hid a whisper of mockery and satisfaction at the fact that she still remained the stronger one – be weak and you die, be strong and you shall be the one granted with another chance at life. A gasp, and her eyes shut tightly at the vile thoughts staining her mind. She shook her head, desperate to erase the small smear of grime in her soul – these were the kinds that would insidiously spread until she was teetering on the brink of insanity, and she wouldn’t allow herself to fall so low and completely lose herself.

”Let’s train your agility soon, hm?”
she quickly added, the guilt that stemmed from her contemptible thoughts weighing too much on her mind. She hoped that Cornelia didn’t notice her sudden odd behavior, and tried to keep her tone steady as she talked. She went back to her position once more, preparing herself for Cornelia’s response in the fight. She scanned Cornelia’s body as she tried to decipher if she would have enough strength to withstand the pain and fight back, though she highly doubted it. Still, it was best to be safe than sorry.

Staring above her at absolutely nothing, Pyxis thought about the previous day. She hadn't been happy about Kanon's dragging her away from a potential threat to Noboru. The only reason she'd allowed it was because Kanon had said she was a friend of his. If a friend of Noboru's ended up killing him that was his fault. Keep better friends. Still.. She hadn't been happy about it. Kanon was especially important to Pyxis and knowing the girl was headed off to track, the same club the stupid a*****e tyrant was in.. It was enough to convince her to head off with the girl, leaving Noboru with the far too happy for her place green-haired female.

Pyxis hadn't been able to talk to Noboru again after that. She had simply followed Kanon around wherever she had gone. She never particularly had any hobbies or plans. Pyxis' usual daily activity was to walk with Kanon or Noboru wherever they decided to go.. or just sit alone in their room staring at the ceiling. (She rarely attended the art club which she actually had at some point decided to join.) Kanon had mentioned going to see Soturi the previous day, but if they had Pyxis didn't pay enough attention to remember it. For some god awful reason, the entire day after the announcements, Pyxis had been dreaming of ways to cut the heart out of Vex if he dared kill Noboru. Up until now, she had been doing a damn good job of acting like she didn't care at all. This turn of events was making things a little difficult. Attachment, she supposed, was something you couldn't avoid in situations like this.

Sighing, Pyxis finally pulled herself out from under the bed. When they had come in and taken Noboru, it obviously would have woken them up. Of course, Pyxis hadn't been sleeping much. She'd been thinking all night. Knowing Kanon the way she did, Pyxis had no doubts the girl had been up all night worrying about her 'secret' crush. It had been only a few minues since they had come in and taken Noboru to prepare him for the fight. Usually, Pyxis never attended the viewings. Today, though, she had to. She didn't want to be the last to know if Noboru took a turn for the worst, which was very likely given the circumstances. Stretching herself out, Pyxis dressed herself in an unusually fast manner. She threw on the clothes that happened to be the easiest to reach, forgetting all jewelry which was something she usually very much enjoyed wearing. Turning to Kanon, Pyxis put one hand on her hip. "Come on. Let's go." It didn't take much persuading. Kanon already clung to her side before she barely got the chance for the words to come out.

Staring at the girl's face a moment, curious how she was feeling, Pyxis made her way out of the room and down the hallways that would take her to the arena where the fights were held. The trip felt much longer than it should have. Each minute made Pyxis' thoughts go in a different direction. Finally, though, they arrived and Pyxis immediatly took a seat with an empty spot next to it for Kanon. Then, without a word, she turned her attention to Noboru and Vex's fight. There wasn't a need for Pyxis to say anything to Kanon. They both knew how this fight was probably going to end. As the moments passed, Pyxis felt the corners of her mouth pulling back angrily and her fists clenching. "Someone like Vex shouldn't be allowed to exist," she practically spat the words out. Pyxis couldn't remember the last time she'd felt anything but content and uncaring. Now, though, she was angry. Angry because the tyrant bullying Noboru deserved to die a very, very painful death. That was something even someone like Pyxis who didn't care who lived or died knew.

What was the point of even trying to sleep, when you knew it wouldn't happen? For Kanon, the reason was rather simple; if she concentrated on trying to sleep, she wouldn't have to think about other things. Eventually though, she gave up. Not even dawn yet, she slipped out of her bed, careful to keep quiet, though she doubted her two friends were anymore asleep than she was. A quick shower - though a bit longer than normal - and she felt a bit more awake, a bit less exhausted... though she knew the effect would wear off quickly. She had stood there in the bathroom, however, for a good five minutes, wearing naught but a towel. There was no clothing on the counter. In her effort to not think, she hadn't lain out clothing. For a moment after the realization this bothered her, but the care quickly drifted away.

So she left the bathroom for perhaps the first time since coming to this school wearing only a towel. The first time. She should be panicking, right? That's what happened the first time things happened; she panicked. Numbness was all she felt at the moment, however. Discarding the towel she got dressed quickly, wearing pretty much the same thing as yesterday, just a different color. The next moments in time blurred. Why should she bother to remember something so unimportant? The usual her would regard it as important; she knew that. But the numbness was still there, and she was wondering if it would ever go away.

Eventually, she ended back up in her bed, fully clothed, including socks and shoes, and staring blankly at the wall. When they came for Noboru she squeezed her eyes shut, unable to to bear the thought of watching. When they headed for the door, though, she sat up, horror welling up in her. This was the last time she would have a chance to talk to him. Slipping from her bed she reached the door, the group already in the hallway. What could she say, though? Her mind turned blank, for there was nothing to say. Nothing to make this better, nothing to make this all a dream. Strangely, she thought of her mother. Two whispered words, spoken despite the odds, the chances of them meeting again. It wasn't whether or not they had any bearing. It was the feeling behind it. So she spoke.

                                                                "Good luck."

Did he hear? She wasn't sure; she had ducked back into the room right after, unable to take standing there any longer. By the time she had wandered fully back into the room, Pyxis was in the midst of getting dressed. Sitting on her roommates bottom bunk, Kanon stared at the floor, eyes dull. When Pyxis spoke however, Kanon was moving before she even finished. Right arm reach out, fingers clenching on Pyxis's shirt. A lifeline. Something solid, so the numbness didn't wash her away.

The walk to the specter seats took forever. By the time they were sitting down Kanon just wanted to go back to her room and curl up, doing nothing at all. But she wouldn't. At the very least she would watch Noboru till the very end. She owed him that. Owed him for not being a better friend and offering him... something, anything, to make this moment better for him, even if only a tiny bit. So she watched. Flinching every time he was hit, every time Vex spoke. Hatred burned then, and Pyxis echoed the feeling in words. "This school shouldn't be allowed to exist. And yet it does. And here we are." Numb words. That's what they were suppose to be. Instead, they came out angry, biting the wind and the ears of all around her. Her hand clenched tighter on Pyxis's shirt, while the other hand gripped her own leg, nails digging into skin without her even realizing it. "This whole place should just go to hell."

Riva’s appearance was a welcomed with a mixture of relief and mild annoyance. Glenn attended these match viewing simply on the principle that he was forced to. He went through the motions, and acted to hopefully remain under the radar. Riva and her company was one way to pass the time. She knew various facts about the school few else had. It would be no surprise if her family was one of the supporters. It was common in this time for privileged and respected clans to raise a bloodline of winners. Each generation was expected to carry on the legacy. In the streets where Glenn was, him and his friends referred to these as ‘Goslings.’ Raised to be the family’s golden goose and slaughter the competition in the academy.

The Orphanage he was a part of sometimes allowed these families to buy off one of them. Take in another non-blood child to train their Gosling. They would be the sparring partner of the Gosling, pitted unfairly against their new ‘sibling.’ Racehorses follow a similar regiment. Often another steed is brought in and forced to loose, thus raising the confidence of the other animal. Then they would be given back to the orphanage exchanged for a new training partner. Glenn had experienced this first hand. He was given to one family for a week at a time, and then shuffled back to the orphanage caretaker when they were done. Eventually Glenn was spending less and less time in transit between richer families. He wasn’t one to openly mention what happened, and why less took an interest in the child. All he claimed was that he refused to be the looser one day.

"Saving this for me? You're such a sweetheart,"

                                ”Riva.”

“Nothing like the smell of fear from the tournaments on a Saturday morning, eh? Oh!~ I'm so tickled with excitement!"

Glenn twisted his head focusing a single green orb on the vixen beside him. “Riva.” he said again. “What is it? You only speak to me when you want something.”

He looked back to the battles displayed before them. Vex and his prey were visualized through the glass, while the others were posted on screens around the room. Many of the Legion members gleefully took part in this round of games, often requesting to duel others. Soturi was probably placed in the pot, simply by being an enemy to Vex. All it took was a wad of cash into a Proxies' hands and the name would be dropped into the tournament hat. You couldn't rig the matches, but it was the closest thing to. There was visible tension between those Vex and Sotu, and Glenn was currently sitting alongside the source. So much blood spilled over this woman with a toxic tongue. Glenn was torn between believing Riva enjoyed be bathed in the attention, or felt like a trophy to be handed to the winner. For all he knew, it could be a mixture of both. Riva was an enigma to him. In one regard she was a true Gosling; preened and polished to contend in these matches. Yet, along with her charm she had a stepford smile.

“Spill out what you need before I lose my patience.” Glenn added placing his feet up against the chair’s back sitting in front of him. He hoped their little chat wasn’t about spending time with Ana yesterday. Consorting with an enemy wasn’t tolerated among the ranks. Glenn would rebuttal that Shinji’s actions on behalf of the Legion should have the same policy. Instability in lower ranks was a dangerous entity. If all you have given them is a gun, you never know where the hell they will point it at. Just be ready to make sure it isn’t you. Hence his relations with Ana. Maybe he could convince her to deal with the boy in his stead. Glenn was transparent in his motives with Ana. Stealth and subtlety was not his forte.

Yashamaru, a damn weakling thought he could make the great Shinji Masaomi choke on his own blood? What a cocky, selfish brat. Shinji licked his lips as he looked at his pray, ready to take him down any time. Oh just look at this pathetic piece of sh'it. He looked determined, but deep inside him, he was so scared he could p'iss his own pants. A short, evil chuckle escaped his lips. Yashamaru was going to die today. He was going to be painted with the same colour his eyes are. Or wait, he was going to blind him off, aha!

Just as he was going to rush and then---he felt a sharp pain down on his left leg. Shinji hissed at the pain the bullet that had pierced his flesh produced, while on the same time, Shinji was boiling inside him. The sight of his own blood pooled under his left foot. A look at Yashamaru's eyes, he saw how determined the black haired male was. Shinji glared back at him, with exactly the same amount of pure hate, a glare that meant I am going to f'ucking kill you, b'itch. The male crouched down at his leg, not even daring to break the eye contact, and removed the bullet from his left leg, threw it away at once.

"Don't get cocky, you little b'astard." he hissed at him."If you even gave a damn crap about a person you live and fight for, then you wouldn't be a damn D-rank loser!" Shinji held his chainsaw tight, the gears rotating faster than ever."Don't you even dare to think that you can get away with injuring the great Shinji Masaomi!!"That was it. Shinji was really damn pissed with Yashamaru. His rage was unstoppable right now. Whoever tried to stop him would end up dead.

With a blink of one's eye, you could see Shinji over to Yashamaru's side, his chainsaw aiming to slash his chest, arms, legs, whatever possible, Shinji was not even seeing straight from his anger. He punched and kicked without mercy. Using his Bloodspire was really not needed though it could cause Yashamaru even more pain. Shinji's left leg still hurt from the bullet, but there was not something he could do. He just coped with the pain, the bleeding had already started to stop a bit. Shinji was the most stubborn and egocentric person on planet Earth, seeing the expression on Yashamaru's face, he started chuckling.

Is there a better thing in the world than seeing others in pain?
