As one story unfolds...

In the beginning... The Empire of Tamriel was on the edge. The High King of Skyrim was murdered. Alliances formed as claims to the throne were made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil awoke. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, returned to Tamriel. The future of Skyrim, even the Empire itself, hung in the balance as they waited for the prophesized Dragonborn to come. A hero born with the power of The Voice, and the only one who could stand amongst the dragons.
Now... not all ended well even when a legend walked amongst Skyrim. The temporary peace between the Empire and the Stormcloaks was too fragile to hold. One misunderstanding after the next had led to a massive bloodbath in Markarth. New horrific stories of the conflict continue to resurface. As for the Thalmor, they seemed more than pleased to see peace come to a sudden end. General Tullius of the Imperials continues to recruit men to his legion under the power of the Emperor and Imperial Senate out of Cyrodil. While Ulfric Stormcloak of the Stormcloaks, Jarl of Windhelm, recruits men under the persuasion that he is the true King and the Imperials are a threat to humanity. The Dragonborn who now lives in tales told by parents to their children and through books has long been seen and some believe he is still in hiding somewhere until he is needed. Most believe he resides in High Hrothgar with the Greybeards in wait. Others think that Dragonborn is dead due to word that Alduin still lives after the epic duel that commenced and how Dragonborn hasn't been seen since. Because of this people have started to become paranoid that dragons will rise from the graves once again which has caused most all of Skyrim to heighten their security and keep watch of the skies.
Draugr maintain residence in underground caves and Nordic Ruins waiting for unsuspecting travelers to fall prey to their onslaught. Skeletons still guard Ancient Ruins and Underground Dungeons as protectors to the mystery and treasure the inner chambers of the ruins may hold. Strange noises such as hissing and clanking of metal can be heard from within Dwarven Ruins where it is believed that the grudge between the Dwarven and Falmer has yet to lay to rest and battles still wage daily. Vampires still roam the night unseen and claim victims nightly either seen with bite marks in their neck or the victim's body severed from head to toe. Bandits live to assault and ambush Trading Caravans or any unsuspecting traveler as they see fit. Mages still protect sacred grounds and Daedric Ruins with their life and often travel in groups. Then of course.. we have you.
What role will you play in the history of Skyrim? Will you choose to side with the rebellious Stormcloaks and overtake the land proclaiming Ulfric Stormcloak as the true king? Will you side with the cocky Imperial Legion and restore power and order to the Emperor and the Imperial Senate? Or will you roam the lands as an individual and devote yourself to a Guild or two? The possibilities are endless, the world is immense, but always remember one thing. Always look to the skies. Because with word that the dragons could be making a return, you never know who or what you could run in to on your travels. Sharpen your blades. Craft your finest armor. Ready your arrows. Keep your eyes to the skies. You are in the land of Skyrim where when it all comes down to it, it is truly you who will make a difference in the world.
...another one begins

What you learn here will last you a lifetime...
✠ The Nine Major Cities of Skyrim ✠
♦ Whiterun: Whiterun is the most centrally located of the Nine Holds in Skyrim, named for the fortress city in the eastern part of its plains and just northwest of the massive Throat of the World, the highest mountain in all Tamriel. This area containing Whiterun and High Hrothgar used to be referred to as the "Imperial City of Skyrim", before it underwent several acts of chaos, including a dynastic feud, attacks by bandits and frost trolls, and a series of annihilating winters of alternating floods, droughts, and fires. A self-proclaimed priestess of Lorkhan, Jsashe the Witch-Queen, controls the county and the local witches' coven. It is interesting to note that the local giant population seems to use the tundra outside Whiterun as a pasture of sorts for their mammoth herds.
♦ Windhelm: A city in northeastern Skyrim. The Stormcloaks have powerful sway and enforce the law here, as it is ruled by their leader, Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak. He uses this city as the headquarters for his rebellion against the Empire. He rules by right of descent from his father, the previous Jarl. His policies, while permitting the forbidden worship of Talos, permit persecution and harassment of Non-Nords, such as the Dunmer (who dwell in squalor in the 'Grey Quarter') and the Argonians (who make their best of surviving outside the city on the docks).
♦ Markarth: Markarth is a city built into a cliff in Western Skyrim, the legends say that Markarth was originally built by the Dwemer, or Dwarves. There is a massive Dwemer ruin underneath Markarth. Markarth is ruled by Jarl Lalia Law-Bringer. Markarth has a major problem with a group of Breton raiders, known as the Forsworn, who believe that Markarth belongs to them and not the Nords. There are quests and bounties concerning the Forsworn.
♦ Riften: A city in southeastern Skyrim. When you arrive, the Guards will tell you that you need to pay a visitors Tax, but this is a scam run by the Guards. The Thieves' Guild and the Temple of Mara are located here. The Black–Briar family resides in Riften. They are very corrupt, the daughter is trying to summon the dark brotherhood and the son is in jail. The Ratway is the complex under the main walkways, at water level.
♦ Solitude: Solitude, capital city of both Haafingar and indeed Skyrim, is the jewel of Imperial Skyrim. Ruled by Jarl Elisif the Fair, widow of the late High King, it is home to the headquarters of both the Legion and the Thalmor. Part of the reason for this is the eminently defensible nature of Solitude itself. Set upon a great stone arch that towers above the mouth of the Karth River, and surrounded by the soaring peaks of the Haafingar Mountains, Solitude is both a reinforced and breathtaking stronghold.
♦ Dawnstar: One of the oldest Holds in Dawnstar is a garrison town on the northern coast of Skyrim. It was after the destruction of a fortress in Dawnstar during 2E 283 that Potentate Versidue-Shaie declared martial law, leading to one of the most brutal and bloody periods in the history of Tamriel. Now, the harsh environment, rugged terrain, little sunshine and difficult access makes Dawnstar one least populated holds, Though the town still has a few services.
♦ Morthal: The city lies deep in the marsh, a foreboding area of Hjaalmarch which is isolated from other villages. Despite this, the town has an Imperial Legate stationed within, and the ruling Jarl Idgrod Ravencrone appears to support the Empire. On one edge of the town, a burned-down house stands untended in the snow. The residents are still talking of the scandal surrounding the house fire, which left a mother and her daughter dead. Hroggar, the father, has almost immediately moved on to another woman. Villagers will sometimes speak of seeing strange lights and shadows in the marsh at night, and show concern about the mill, which appears to be the town's only source of trade.
♦ Falkreath: Falkreath is the only major city within Falkreath Hold and thus, is home to its Jarl, Siddgeir. The town lies in the southwest of the province of Skyrim, near the borders of Hammerfell and Cyrodiil. At one period in history, Falkreath was part of Cyrodiil. Later, the town became a settlement in Skyrim. The graveyard of Falkreath contains many famous Nords who requested to be buried in Falkreath, next to the other honored dead of past battles. Since they were constantly living alongside the dead, the people of Falkreath gave many of their shops and other buildings names related to death. As its residents will tell you, Falkreath was the place of many battles in the past, being the main reason for the large graveyard.
♦ Winterhold: Winterhold was once a wealthy and influential city in Skyrim, even considered one of the early capitals of Skyrim. It contains the Ysmir Collective, and the prestigious College of Winterhold. Before the Oblivion Crisis many Dumner called Winterhold "home," and was a popular place of interest for many in Morrowind. After the Oblivion Crisis, those of the magical community were shunned because of the growing distrust of magic, due to magic causing the crisis in the first place. Many Dumner left soon after, the rest following after the Red Year when Vvardenfell erupted and caused widespread destruction. Winterhold slowly faded from its former glory and finally met its demise during The Great Collapse, when the vast majority of Winterhold fell into the sea far below during a great and powerful surge of waved bombarded the coast. In the wake of the event was the College of Winterhold which remained miraculously unscathed. After the Great Collapse a fear and hatred for the College grew from the people of Winterhold who blamed the College for the destruction. What remains of Winterhold is but a shell of its former greatness. The town of Winterhold is currently ruled by Jarl Korir, who has negative disposition towards the neighboring College of Winterhold and Dumner alike.
