Our Story

IF YOU HONESTLY DON'T KNOW HOW KAI IS GOING TO END, WELL, THIS IS A SPOILER ALERT. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

It has been seven years since the end of the events of Dragon Ball Kai, seven years of peace and growth. Mr. Satan, AKA the mighty Hercule, has taken credit for the defeat of Cell. Gohan, now a teenager, is going to High School and Vegeta is begrudgingly playing the part of a father to his young son Trunks. Piccolo has been helping Dende learn the ins and outs of being the Guardian of Earth. Android 18 has married Krillen and together they have been blessed by a daughter. Android 17 was last seen heading North to find a new life for himself and hasn't been heard from in years.Tien and Chiaotsu have been training in the mountains, and Yamcha, having given up fighting professionally, is now the coach of West City's baseball team, the Taitans. Perhaps the most surprising thing of all is that Gohan has a brother, the son that Goku never met. His name is Goten, and unlike his brother, Chi-Chi has taught him martial arts, unlocking his Super Saiyan ability in the Process.
This is the world that our heroes live in, a time of peace and growth.

Unfortunately, evil never rests. It just waits for a good time to strike once more. In the depths of hell, Cell met with the Cold family and struck up a sinister partnership to escape their bonds. Using is Instant Transmission to sneak out of hell for brief moments of time, Cell had contacted Frieza's remaining minions and they succeeded in collecting the Namekian Dragon Balls without drawing the suspicion of the Namekians. At Frieza's orders they made the wish to weaken the dimensional barrier between Hell and Earth and then to wish themselves to Earth to await Frieza and Cell's return.

Once the barrier was weakened, the powerful prisoners of Hell: Gero, Cell, Frieza, King Cold, the Ginyu Force and other villains began a massive riot, striking back at the Oni who kept them prisoner and repeatedly battering at the gates of hell to try and escape, the gates being much weaker thanks to the power of the Namekian Dragon Balls.

Normally this plan would not work and would only bring down upon the villains a righteous a** kicking by Goku, the one dead man that could keep these villains in line. But before the mighty warrior could be roused from his eternal rest, something unexpected happened.

Lumotech, a rival of Capsule Corp, had discovered evidence of the Capsule Corp Time Machine used by Future Trunks and tried to build one on their own. However, the Scientists at Lumotech, skilled as they were, just could not match up to the genius of Bulma Briefs. Their Time Machine Project, seven years in the making, imploded upon its maiden flight. And when a Time Machine is destroyed in such a manner, it has very dire effects on the dimensional barriers of the multiverse. This coincidence, this slight incident, did enough damage to the dimensional fabric that it ripped what was already weakened. Now the villains are back on Earth, returning with a vengeance to an unsuspecting world.

Furthermore, the dimensional rift caused by the Time Machine explosion has drawn a whole host of new troubles from Space. Alien visitors, Saiyan Survivors, and possibly even more dire threats are stumbling upon Earth, upsetting the already overturned status quo.

The Earth Special Forces are going to be busy....

RULES AND GUIDELINES

As Elected Dictatore of this Roleplay, I have a list of rules you must abide by.

On Conduct:
1. Cursing is permitted as long as it does not replace normal communication.
2. Act withing Gaia ToS Guidelines, including the posting of questionable or inflammatory material.
3. This RP is based on Manga and Anime. There will be Violence and there will be Romance. Do not let either get overboard.
4. Do not be afraid to ask questions. I will not bite you. And if you are frightened of me, then speak to Magister Equitum Ultrafirebird if you have questions. She will not bite either.
5. You must be at least Semi-Literate to be in this Role Play
6. You have no access to God Mode. You will be hit, you will miss attacks, and you will not be the second coming of Goku.
7. In the event that I am unavailable, ultrafirebird is in charge. Obey her rules as if they were my own.

On Character Profiles:
1. Canon Character applicants will be required to PM a sample post of the Character they would like to be so that I can ascertain how good they will be in the role.
2. One Saiyan or Hybrid per player. Space is limited.
3. Your character must fit the Dragon Ball style. Joke names, wacky powers, humor, and an appreciation of the source material will get you more friends here than a wangsty, emo, superman.
4. Power levels may be suggested by you, but are set by me.
5. Characters with relationships to Canon characters must be prepared to fully explain themselves if they wish to use that character.
6. Should I not be available, Send your profiles to either of my two subordinates.
7. Character PM's should be titled Dracon Pila.

On the Dragon Balls and In Game events
1. If you are hunting for Dragon Balls not in someone's possession, you must work for them. I expect treasure hunting to require at least several posts per Ball.
2. You must have the approval of myself or both of my Subordinates before you make any huge, story altering acts.
3. Do not just throw yourself into other people's storylines. Ask to be a part of it in the OoC.
4. You can not just randomly appear wherever the action is.
5. If you have suggestions for the plot, voice them in the OoC where everyone can weigh in on it.

On Content
1. This RP accepts certain things as happening in Canon and outside of Canon.
2. Everything in Kai is ok. Movies set during the period Kai covers are ok. Filler from the origional Dragon Ball Z can be safely ignored if inconvenient, but otherwise is canon.
3. Everything from the Saiyaman Saga to the end of GT is out. We are essentially playing over that as Kai ends after the Cell Games. This means movies and events beyond the Cell Games are not part of this canon.
4. Yes we are aware of Dragon Ball Online and Dragon Ball Heroes. If you wish to play a Character based on events from either games, or from the final season of Dragon Ball Z for that matter, it will not be forbidden. The Profile must still meet Moderator approval and you best have a good explanation why that character is here.

Power Levels and Combat Strength

Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Kai are all about fighting, about who's the strongest and who's the best fighter. In our RP, we have two ways to measure a fighter's strength: Power Levels and Combat Strength.

The Power Level is a larger number, meant to represent, in game, a character's shifting power accurately. It can go up when they're powering up and it can go down when they're tired. It serves to add fluff to the game and to show off a character's exact power at that particular time. Characters who use scouters will see this number, as will Characters who can sense Ki, though they will "feel" how powerful the Ki is instead of seeing numbers.

The Combat Strength rating allows for a more general view of a Character's overall fighting ability. It doesn't track specific numbers, doesn't change when a Character is strong or weak, and just reveals how powerful a fighter is in comparison if you want to use the RP's optional fighting rules. It also makes things more fair for weaker fighters who want a chance at taking on a big bad villain or a powerful good guy.

Optional Combat Rules

In Dragon Ball Kai there are instances where there is essentially a tug of war between the Fighters. This can either occur in an Energy Struggle or a Melee Clash.
An Energy Struggle is when two Ki Energy Beam attacks collide, such as Goku 's Kamehameha vs Vegeta's Galick Gun.
A Melee clash is a fierce exchange of punches and kicks between fighters where they wail on one another until one decisive punch knocks the loser from the clash.
To resolve either situation, simply look at the Combat Strength of each fighter. Each player rolls a 20 sided dice in the OoC thread with the stronger fighter adding the difference of the Combat Strength Ratings to their roll. Whoever rolls highest, after adding that difference, wins the contest.

Here is an example.

Bardock is attacking Frieza with a Full Powered Energy wave. Frieza counters with his own energy beam and the Energy Struggle is on. Bardock's player rolls in the OoC and gets a 9. Frieza, being more powerful, adds the difference of their Combat Strength Ratings to his roll: 13 - 11 = 2. He rolls a 17 and adds 2 to it, making 19 to counter Bardock's 9. Bardock's attack is swallowed up by Frieza's powerful attack and the beam hits Bardock straight on. Bardock loses the Energy Struggle.

For Combination attacks, the people combining their attacks add their PL together and use that value to determine your CS. Then the acknowledged leader of the team or the strongest fighter makes the roll.

For example:
Goku, Gohan, and Goku all attempt the Family Kamehameha against Broly. They are all at their full power, so Goku's PL ( 300,000 ) + Gohan ( 200, 000 ) + Goten ( 50,000 ) = 550,000. That is a CS of 29, which gives them a good chance to stop Broly ( 375,000, CS 20 ) cold if they succeed on their die roll. Goku rolls a 6, Broly rolls an 11. The Son Clan wins with a total of 15 and Broly gets a face full of Kamehameha.

Again, this is an optional rule. Use it if you and the person you are fighting find it convenient, otherwise you can play with out it. Or, you can take it to an extreme by using the rolling method to settle the fight punch for punch and blow for blow or just make one roll to settle everything. Again, it is optional.

Saiyan Biology

As major players in the RP and Dragon Ball as a whole, I suppose its best we discuss some things about Saiyans. If they are not the strongest Warriors in the Galaxy, they are the species most adpt at going to war. As such, they have certain powers and abilities that need to be discussed.

Ozaru: Saiyans who have tails are able to transform into Giant monkeys. Most Saiyan adults have trained how to control themselves at least to some extent in this form.
Becoming an Ozaru requires either the full moon or the Power Ball technique. It is a physically taxing transformation and after it the Saiyan will become exhausted. During the Transformation, however, their power level is doubled and their CS increases to reflect the change in power to represent the increased difficulty in fighting a 100ft tall, Ki beam breathing monkey.

Zenkai Saiyans who manage to recover after nearly dying in battle grow stronger. a Saiyan Character who does this gains a 2,500 point increase in their max Power Level. They lose this ability once they are capable of the Super Saiyan Transformation. However, due to the possibility of this being abused, IT WILL BE CLOSELY MONITORED. Any Increase in PL must meet Moderator approval.

Super Saiyan To become a Super Saiyan, a Saiyan character needs to have a Combat Strength (CS) of 11 at minimum. Furthermore, they need the proper focus or trigger to set off the transformation. The transformation comes in response to a need, not a desire, and stems from intense rage resulting from indignation or frustration. MODERATOR PERMISSION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ACHIEVING SUPER SAIYAN. Once the Super Saiyan state is achieved, then several changes occur to the Saiyan in question. While transformed, their Power Level (PL) is multiplied by 5, their Combat Strength increasing proportionally to this new found strength. Once achieving the Super Saiyan transformation, Saiyans no longer gain benefits from Zenkai and must train in order to improve themselves further. For the moment, no further transformations beyond Super Saiyan 1 are allowed. Half breed Super Saiyans, having better control of their emotions, are capable of becoming Super Saiyans quicker than normal Saiyans, but until I find a way to balance this ability so it isn't abused, Half Saiyans must meet all the prerequisites normal Saiyans need to transform.

Namek Biology

If the Saiyans are the most important and famous Alien Species in Dragon Ball, then the Namekians certainly dominate second place. Hell we wouldn't even have Dragon Ball without the Namekians, and its high time I give some information on how they're handled in the RP. Like Saiyans, they tend to have a few unique abilities.

Regeneration As long as they have a functioning brain, Namekians can heal themselves in battle and even regenerate limbs. However, this is a considerable strain on their stamina and they can not keep doing it in the middle of battle. Once per fight, a Namekian can either regenerate half the damage they had taken in battle or regrow a limb they had lost, but they must be conscious to do it.

Water Consumption Namekians only need water to survive, but they are capable of eating food, and, if we use Piccolo as an example, it actually seems to help them grow stronger.

Castes Namekians as we know them now belong to either the Mystic or Warrior castes. Mystics have the ability to heal and create objects like clothes and weapons out of thin air, while Warriors gain the ability to stretch their arms and shoot electricity from their antenna. Keep this in mind when making Characters.

Fusion and Fission Namekians can fuse into one being, the resulting being sharing the memories, strengths, and powers of both halves. Both parties must settle on a body to use and both must be willing to fuse. Once fused, the host adds the power level of their absorbed partner to their own and gain that fighter's techniques. While it is relatively easy for Namekians to fuse together, it is something altogether for them to split. It takes considerable effort and time, and the resulting Namekians split the power level of the being they origionate from while sharing all the same techniques and memories, though they still are two separate individuals. Furthermore, if one of the divided Namekians dies, so does his twin.

Training

Training is a staple of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Fighters frequently have to work their asses off to get better in order to win tournaments and battle galactic evils. In order for a fighter to get better, he must train. In game terms, a player must make their Character train through a series of posts. For each quality post of training, a Character gets an increase to their PL equivalent to 100. Note however that training is more than just lazily trading blows with an opponent and sparing. If all you do is spar, then you will not improve. You must exercise, hone reflexes, practice your moves through repetition, and strain both your muscles and your mind. Superior training methods, such as training under an acknowledged Martial Arts Master, grant a 200 bonus per post, but such things require Moderator approval.

PROLOUGE POST!!!!

All of Dr. Kantalo’s hard work throughout the years has finally led to this one moment, when she had all of the seven Namekian dragonballs at her feet. She heard Lord Frieza speak of them in person, and it was his desire for these orbs that lead into his unfortunate downfall. It was one thing to hear of these treasured balls being able to grant you any three wishes, it was quite another to actually see them, and know that they truly existed. But the time to be in awe of the dragonballs has past, and now, Kantalo stood on New Namek, away from all the tribes of the peaceful race, ready to make her wish. It took a long time to befriend the Namekians to earn their trust that she was no longer loyal to Lord Frieza, but it was time she was willing to sacrifice for the grand scheme of things. Plus, she did enjoy learning more about their culture, and even took the time to learn their language. While her excuse to learn it was to better assimilate herself with the people, the real motivation was so that she could call upon the dragon herself, without a translator interfering with her duty.

After reciting the password in the native language of the Namekians, the balls reacted by glowing brightly, and soon the dragon, Porunga, was summoned before her. Like all first timers, Dr. Kantalo stood in awe of the enormous creature.

“I shall grant you three wishes that are within my power,” the dragon’s booming voice spoke aloud in the common language.

Impressed by the size and physical appearance of the wish-granter, Dr. Kantalo could not resist her impulses as a Xenobiologist. “C-can I have a moment to draw you?” she asked, also using the common language in her response.

This…very much puzzled Porunga. “…I suppose so…” he finally replied, sounding very, very confused, but a little flattered as well. The dragon probably hadn’t felt that confused since the time a blue-haired Earthling called him “cute”. But the request wasn’t so bad, after all, it wasn’t every day the dragon was asked to be the subject of a drawing. His response excited the strange green creature that summoned him, and she quickly went to work making her detailed sketch. A sweat drop appeared on the back of Porunga’s head when this took awhile. It looked like the alien woman was taking her sweet time getting in every detail she could. When the dragon’s patience was growing thin, he asked, “Do you actually have any wishes for me to grant? Or did you just want the request?”

Peering up at the dragon from her detailed sketch that was nearly complete, Dr. Kantalo suddenly remembered the reason why she summoned him in the first place. “Oh!” Quickly scribbling the final touches, she put away the book and got motivated to carry out her task. Speaking in Namekian, she attempted her first wish; “I wish that the jail cells holding Lord Frieza and everyone else in hell be opened!”

This was a most peculiar wish, coming from a peculiar person, but it was within Porunga’s power to do so, and so he informed her, “Your wish can be granted…” his red eyes glowed as he exercised his power to unlock and open the cells containing Frieza and the other powerful villains. “It is done.”

Dr. Kantalo nodded with a pleased smile, before making her next wish, “My second wish is to restrain all those in hell who would block Lord Frieza and all of the other damned souls from escaping their cells!”

Silence fell between the two, as Porunga figured out if this wish was within his powers as well. Once again, his eyes glowed, and all of the oni guards in hell – including poor Goz and Mez – were restrained by the dragon’s power. They unable to break free of the invisible force while the citizens of hell escaped their imprisonment. “Your second wish has been granted…” Porunga informed his summoner, making her smile again with delight that things were going so well.

These first two wishes were just the first steps taken, to set up a disaster that would ultimately unleash a chaotic event to happen on the small, peaceful planet, known as Earth.

"Illuminating the Future!"

"All systems Green" Said a controller as the top scientists of Lumotech watch the Time Machine on the Landing Pad warm up and prepare to launch.
It was an epic day for Lumotech. On this day, they were going to finally step out of the Shadow of Capsule Corp, using Capsule's own idea against them. The VIPS of the company had been experimenting for years on a Time Machine since satellite photos revealed that Capsule Corp had such a device. The VIPs had sweated that Capsule would mass produce their spectacular find or patent it before they could produce their own. Six years of no such thing from their rivals and six years of testing and experimentation. And now, with one successful test, they would succeed where the lethargy of their rival had hindered them, a final triumph over Capsule Corp. The money they would make would be OBSCENE.

The count down began, the seconds ticking down as the device whirred. And then, it was launch time.
A controller hit a button.
For a second, nothing happened. And then, it exploded. A visible ripple in the air preceded the explosion as black antimatter erupted and detonated from the device, producing a bizarre array of colorful explosions on the landing pad.
And then the device winked out of existence.

The crew all groaned in annoyance as the Chief scientist facepalmed.
"Damn it! That's the fifteenth Time Machine we've had do that!" He declared. And had anyone had more than a single thought on anything but their paychecks and jobs, they might have realized how chilling this was. The Company had, fifteen times, damaged the fabric of space and time. Once in a while and the fabric would naturally mend, but in their rush to push a working time device on the market, Lumotech had cut corners and had exploded fifteen time drives within Earth's atmosphere.

As the crews headed back to the drawing board, no one realized just how much danger they had placed the entire planet.....

It was a calm, peaceful day on the lookout. The birds were chirping, the Butterflies were dancing around Mr. Popo's Garden, and the sun was shining nice and warm.

Dende was concerned.
Something seemed odd about today....something seemed....well to put it no other way, off.
This was curious. There were no dire threats, no great evils remaining....why did the Guardian of Earth feel so uneasy?

Dende shook his head and headed for the edge of the lookout, casting his senses out to observe the world and try to locate what on Earth it was that was troubling him.

Bulma Briefs The Daughter of Capsule Corp.

Meanwhile in the city of the West in the famous Corperation known as Capsule Corp......

"Alright move your arses! I don't pay you to stand around!" Barked a slender woman with striking blue eyes and a dark sky bluish hair. Her skin was slightly pale but not to an exent that indicated that she resembled one of the vampiric cast of the saga that involved werewolves, vampires and a very crappy plot. She had a beauty that was noticable, but not too tacky or flashy. However, her features were not the things she was famous more. No...it was her ability to invent, solve math, and many other things(exlcuding cooking). People who knew her from the T.v. screens and special events saw her as a tech goddess. Those who worked close and lived with her knew her as a dictator who ruled with an iron fist. Though she didn't have as much power as s Chi-Chi under her household.

This woman was known as Bulma Briefs; daughter of the inventor of the dyno caps and the corperation itself. Mother of a young boy and wife of one of the most powerful fighters on earth. Right at this moment, dissapointment would have been an understatement to her as she walked into the main lab at 10:00 A.m. to find her employees lagging a bit behind their quota. That's when she went into tyrant mode.

As controlling as she was, Bulma worked just as hard to achieve the corperation to the shining glory of a bussiness as it was. Bulma immediatly went to the computers and started organizing the data; keeping track of inventory.

Arale Norimaki The Android

Cut off from most of the world as its snuggled in its own little corner by the coast was the delightful village of Penguin. It was small and held no major landmarks and whatnot, but it was peaceful. The citizens were average but friendly...most of them anyway. One particular family that resided in Penguin Village was the Norimaki family. This consisted of the "famous" Dr. Senbei, his wife Midori, two flying....things....their son, Turbo, and the android, Arale Norimaki. However, her secret of being robotic was kept under wraps as they lived a peaceful life.

Right at this moment, Arale was hang outside....running around in circles until her mechanical equilibrium was all swirled and she got dizzy. This is what she had been doing for the past week. For a robot, she had gotten pretty restless.

Chaya

It descended from the sky, moving silently and sleekly through the atmosphere. Silvery and smooth of design, the sun over Parsley City shimmered off of it like a mirage before vanishing from sight, seemingly on a course for the mountains to the southeast. It was visible for only an instant to those who noticed it, and radar systems would register no recording of its passing.

in a cleft of the rocky lands something invisible landed. Imprints of three large landing legs pressed into the dirt as if a massive weight was forced upon them, and a bird flying by smacked against something solid yet unseen. A door out of nowhere opened, and a woman descended an unfolding ramp. She had a brown tail that curled behind her and dark unruly hair. Her limbs were lean and muscular, suggesting a lifetime of athleticism. She wore well polished white and green Saiyan Battle armor over a blue jumpsuit, and a clear lensed scouter was set over one of her eyes, a number of different readouts filtering across its screen for her perusal.

She was Chaya, an Elite saiyan warrior and mechanical savant. And she had come to this world to find out what happened to her people.

According to her research, gleaned from whatever electronic records she could salvage and from the mouths of Frieza's former minions once she kicked their asses enough, there were eight surviving saiyans from Frieza's massacre: Nappa, Raditz, Kakarot, Paragus, Broly, Turles and, thankfully, both Tarble and Vegeta. Nappa, Raditz, and Turles were supposedly dead after coming to this planet. Broly, Paragus' son, killed Paragus and then died himself (Good riddance), and now both Vegeta and Kakarot, Bardock's youngest, dwelt on this planet. Tarble, her charge before the accident, still dwelt on the world of his exile, safe from reprisals from the enemies of her people.

This was not promising for the continued existence of her race. Counting herself, of the nine known survivors of Vegeta-sei, only four remained. She did not like the odds of their continued survival. She had to confirm that both Kakarot and Vegeta still lived.

The Saiyan woman stared at the rocky formations around her, flicking an occasional glance at wildlife in the viscinity and scanning it. Her stern gaze swept the landing spot of her ship, scouter actively checking for hidden threats.

"The Gravity is weak here...and there is noticeable humidity as well as abundant native lifeforms....I fail to see the appeal of this world." She muttered sourly. Chaya then turned and drew a remote control from a pocket of her armor. She pressed it in the direction of her cloaked vessel, and the transport beeped obediently and sealed itself up.

"I suppose I better start this investigation." She said, coiling her tail around her waist. She pushed off into the air and began flying towards the location of the nearest strong power level: West City.
