XXX"Hey, that was pretty good, don't you think?"XXXXXXX
XXXXXXOutfitTheme Song

Gavin was doing his alphas dog act around the Great Pyrenees, as all small dogs tended to do in the face of a much larger one, but Lyra steadfastly ignored him, fully focused on the girl laid in front of her. As soon as she was laid down, Lyra gently rolled her over to her side, arranging the body into a recovery position - always the first thing when dealing with an unconscious victim.

"Haven't got a spare jacket or shirt on you, have you?" Lyra asked in response to Major Alexander, glancing up at her briefly. It was entirely relieving to see someone taking charge in such a commanding way, and Lyra felt a huge spike of gratitude towards the woman. "It's hot out here, we need to make sure she's kept nice and cool. Someone use your body to block out the sun from her, yeah?" she ordered, not really caring who did it so long as someone did. With that instruction, Lyra bent closer to the girl and began assessing damages.

The basics came first - a light breath fluttered on her ear, and Lyra felt a pulse underneath her fingers. At least her vitals seemed stable. But what she was really worried about was internal bleeding - dealing with crates falling on a small child, it was always better to assume there was some internal injuries. The problem, however, was treatment. On a deserted island filled with germs and only the basic tools at her disposal, an internal injury could very well mean death. Even if she had been Head of Surgery, just using un-sterlized equipment was incredibly dangerous. With hardly any thought to the crowd, Lyra carefully up the girl's dress to better look at her chest area, where she presumed the crates had fallen on her.

The large bruise across her stomach was very worrying, and Lyra lowered the dress again, biting her lip as she returned to checking for signs of internal bleeding. No fluids or blood were leaking out of her, which was always a good sign, and she didn't seem to be exhibiting signs of serious shock. No clammy skin or rapid pulse. All of it good signs. Lyra felt a flare of hope in her as she continued looking over the girl and re-checking her vitals, but was momentarily distracted by the sudden appearance of a small boy, curious and full of youth and too bloody innocent.

"All right, love," she said, sparing a glance towards the boy with what she hoped was a reassuring smile on her face. "She's just had a bad knock on the head. Say, why don't you go search the nearby sand for some lovely shells to give her when she wakes from her kip, eh?" Lyra suggested, hoping the boy would take her advice and gather a few presents. The last thing she wanted was to have the little boy around if the girl suddenly went into shock or cardiac arrest, both completely possible if there was indeed internal injuries. There was just no telling, though all the signs pointed to a hopeful outcome.

As it was, the most she could do was lightly compress the bruising - not too tight in case her organs were being irritated by bleeding or bruising, but tight enough to help along the healing process. "Don't suppose anyone managed to grab anything cold from the ship," Lyra asked the general crowd, but her voice came out flat rather than a question. They had all been escaping with their lives after all - she highly doubted anyone had thought to grab the cooler box. Carefully, Lyra set to work bandaging up the girl's stomach, gently rolling the girl to get the bandage underneath but making sure her chin was constantly tilted up and her head down, her epiglottis open. When she finished, she sat back on her haunches, sighing briefly and reaching out to pat Gavin's head, who had broken off from growling at the Great Pyrenees to whine into her hand.

"I'm afraid that's it, then," Lyra said, feeling helpless that she couldn't do anything more for the girl. "We'll need to monitor her vitals, keep her regulated. Someone move her into the shade for me, yeah?" she requested, standing up and looking around expectantly. Lyra knew she could carry the girl, but she didn't want to risk jostling her around when someone stronger would be able to provide a smooth ride over to the shade and the flattest possible surface.

Erm. A 90-100 pound crate falling on top of a 65 pound girl would definitely cause serious, internal injuries, and she would probably bleed out or fall into serious shock (cardiac arrest, seizure, liver failure, etc). But as there is no treatment for those kinds of internal injuries not involving surgery, I'm just saying that she has large bruising on her stomach, no internal or head injuries. Something that can be treated with RICE. Don't want a character to die, after all. x_X ]]

Zaiden looked over his shoulder at the red-haired boy, his scowl never leaving his face. Something seemed off about the kid; he certainly wasn't like any child he had even met. For a moment, he saw the boy eying his knife or at least he thought he did.

"Better this than nothing," he remarked, holding it up for a second then dropping his arm back by his side. As they passed a bit of light seeping through a crack in the hull he saw the kitten in the boy's, who introduced himself as Glenn, arms. "Zaiden."

The amber-eyed male ignored the whisper, listening carefully in the dark of the menagerie. Various sounds were scattered about; chirps, growls, whines. Then without warning, he was alarmed; what if Hunter was the one whining? He stopped himself from sprinting off towards the sound, there was no concrete proof it was his dog and not another injured animal. Plus it didn't help he now had a shadow to look after. Clenching his fists, Zaiden felt helpless staring into the room without being able to actually see anything.

Another sound became prominent in the room; a clicking sound of sorts one might hear from claws connecting with a hard surface. He strained to listen closer and the sound got louder and faster as if it was coming closer. Then a black blur came around the corner, a pink tongue lolling out of it's mouth. He recognized that coat anywhere and unclenched his fists just as the medium-sized dog nearly collided with him, giving him a lick and a wag of the tail.

It was short lived, their happy reunion, something else was coming around the corner too; something bigger than the chipper boxer mix. As if he knew, Hunter turned around and growled something fierce. Zaiden was slightly surprised, having never heard that kind of sound from his faithful friend.

"Stay close Glenn," he barked at the boy behind him holding his knife out in front of him.

"I won't forget, partna," Kro said as the boy ran down the side of the beach. Kro quickly did a head count and began to diagnose there current situation as he walked. As he got closer he realized the group was standing around an injured girl, trying to do what they could for her. He started tossing ideas around his head, primarily relying on his knowledge of 'Dirt medicine" to come to a conclusion on how he could help. However, the Army Officer made his thoughts scatter with her rude comment.

"If you remember, you asked us to. Thanks for noticing that I was the only one that listened to you." Kro said keeping his tone low as to not stir up a fight. The women was a b***h and eventually he was sure it would come to a head but it was currently not his concern and when she quickly brushed it off as 'not important' he was relieved. They had much more pressing matter to attend to.

"Assuming it hasn't been contaminated yet, there should be vast containers of fresh water in the bowels of the ship. It was enough to sustain the entire ship for a few years worth during the flight." Kro said looking around, trying to gauge everyone's current demeanor. If someone was having an inward freak out it would need to be dealt with quickly.

When the young women asked for someone to move the frail body Kro took it upon himself to execute the command. Kro had carried ruck sacks that weighed more than the poor child into full on combat. The girl would be in good hands. He slowly scooped he up, jacket and all. With the utmost care, he carried the girl to the tree line choosing an ideal location under the palms not to far from the group.

Korey actually forgot his playful grin as Catriona patted his chest and went on her merry way back towards the ship. He was too busy frowning at the scene before him. Little kids didn't need to die; sure there were probably plenty already gone down below deck in the ship but he didn't have the displeasure of witnessing it firsthand. He wiped his brow, where sweat had begun to gather from the hot, beating sun and stared on mesmerized by the 'doctor' doing her work.

The major rattled on, explaining the crates that had fallen on the little girl, berating another man who emerged with a small boy, and then inquiring about water. Hm. Water would be nice right now. Maybe he ought to make himself useful but the problem with that was he didn't know where to start. The two-tone haired male wasn't exactly a survival expert. He knew how to pinch pennies and live off ramen for a month just to pay his rent but that didn't exactly apply here. Money was useless and there wasn't a convenience store in sight.

"So now what?" he voiced, just as Kro picked up the little girl as the woman requested and moved her near the treeline. "This isn't really all that's left... is it?"

His cheerful, flirty mood had been deflated. He couldn't even bring himself to joke around the woman standing about; he was hungry, uncomfortable, and starting to get a bit freaked out by the gravity of the situation they had found themselves in.

Russel Lee Crenshaw
The Big Brother

Russel had to think about that. 90 to 100 pound crates....if this girl survived it'd be nothing short of gods of olympus level intervening miracle. But those crates, if they had been intact enough for the major to recognize them as crates they might have some hope of a serious start to surviving on this island. Those crates were filled with building supplies, hence the weight. Everything was mostly metal, but each crate held its own panels and connecting bolts. though he hoped the skeletal frame pieces the plates bolted to were still in good condition, otherwise this would be bad. There was a little stock of preserved wood building materials, which would be significantly easier to transport and work with. He had a lot to think about.

However as the situation changed with the little girl, he sighed a relief. With the other man, sizing up the group and speaking about water, he sook his head. "I doubt they're alright, maybe a few containers, but not everyone of them will be fine. we crashed quite hard, so there's probably some ruptured tanks down there. still, your right." He spoke. He walked over with the man after he set the girl down, he reached into his duffel bag and pulled out a shirt, rolling it up and sitting it under her head to keep her comfortable. Not a big pillow, just enough to keep her neck in good position. Reaching in again, he pulled a bandanna and handed it to kro. "it's gonna be hot for a while, put it on so you don't overheat." He spoke, getting up, he walked back over to the group, pulling his bandanna, identical to the one he haded kro, black and orange, and pulled it on over his head. Pulling off his tattered crew worker shirt, he tossed it aside leaving him in a wife beater. Pulling on a set of gloves he used for work, again, black and orange. He looked ready to work.

Walking next to lyra, he smiled, sitting a gloved hand on her shoulder. "Good job with that, your quite dependable you know." He told her with a smile. The dogtags hung around his neck proudly now, his bowie on his belt, multitool standing out against the strid of leather encircling his waist. "Could you hold onto this for me?" He asked lyra as he handed her his duffel bag. "Okay, let's see. We've got injured, we're hungry, tired, and weary. disoriented from the crash, no idea where we're at. But we're alive." He spoke, looking to everyone. "we should look for more survivors on the ship. But we can't wait too long. I don't want to be stuck without a shelter and some form of protection from the animals we brought with us. Fresh water is a must, and food would be preferred." He stated, looking to everyone again. Looking to the two soldiers in the group, he recognized them by how they carried themselves and the major had introduced herself. "Sound like a good plan to you two? Search for surviviors and secure any provisions we can before nightfall? while tending to those whom need it? Somepne's gonna have to stay with the kids though." He stated.

All in all, russel had a good head on his shoulders and was thinking ahead while takin their situation in stride. He was actually quite distraught over everything that happened, but he manned up and held his own, in order to keep himself calm and to keep the children from panicing themselves, or the boy at least and the others from getting hysteric as they would soon realize just how screwed they were.

At least a few people seemed to have a good head on their shoulders, even the blond man who more or less irritated her by just exsisting. Watching as Kro moved the girl she turned her back to the group to look at the remains of the ship. Partly buried under sand and sheets of metal crumpled like tissue paper. It was still their best bet though. Sighing she wiped her brow with the back of her hand. The red headed man seemed to have taken charge of the situation, throwing out suggestions. Seemed they had quite a few soldiers in their ranks, or at least wannabes. Finally giving Russel a nod she folded her arms across her chest and glanced at Kro. “We have a lot to do and only a handful of people to do it with and thank you for listening before.” Came the apology, reluctant as it was. “The ship is still our best bet for survival but we have no idea what animals were on board and how many got loose so only those capable of defending themselves should go on board. Definitely no children.” Glancing at the two youngest memebers of the group she wondered what their chances of survival would be anyway. There was no telling what sort of foreign diseases and dangers were about.

Someone capable would need to stay behind as well. “Okay Red, since you seem to be in pretty good condition, think you can get a shelter rigged up? Only needs to last the night. While Blondie here and I try to see if we can salvage anything from the ships underbelly and look for survivors we’ll need someone watching the area.” Who else was there? The young looking lady clutching a sketchpad, a nurse…or doctor? Medic now at any rate. “You two…” She pointed at the girl, Cat, and the young man nearby her. “Can you try to find something for everyone to eat? Don’t go too far into the ship though…we have enough bodies to deal with.” Pulling out her pistol she checked the clip. She would have to grab some more ammo while she was down there as well. “Is everyone alright with that?” As long as everyone had something to do, hopefully no one would freak out too badly when the shock wore off.

Cat had almost felt home free...almost. Just as she was about to drop herself down she saw the soldier woman pointing over towards them, barking orders of some kind. Well, didn't sound like a bad idea...although she would have rather gone alone, given the company the woman had chosen for her to go down there with.

Groaning slightly to herself, she pulled herself back up.

"I think I can manage..." She wasn't going to speak for Korey, she didn't know anything about him other than he wasn't really the type of person she'd like to be traversing through the ship with.

Glenn really didn't like being ignored, but Zaiden's scowls and apprehension kept him quiet. He still found the dark-haired male to be rather intimidating, to be honest.

He froze, hearing the clicking of what sounded like nails on the hard floor. Freezing, he listened intently until a dog came bounding up to Zaiden and started licking him and wagging its tail. He watched for a few moments, smiling slightly. Even if he had a kitten, Glenn did still like dogs. It was apparent Tiger wasn't all too pleased with their new companion, however, as the small kitten flattened its ears and stared down at the dog, hissing lightly as he did.

Suddenly the dog started growling something awful, however, and Glenn knew it wasn't over his cat. The sounds of something large and rather frightful was moving closer, making his stomach knot up in fear. At Zaiden's command he merely did as he was told, too afraid of whatever creature was approaching to make any comments.

As the ginger began to rattle off ideas Kro let it all sink in. The man seemed to be military, what branch was pointless to guess. But defiantly front lines. Infantry or maybe even a combat engineer. When he was handed a bandanna he didn't refuse. Some where stashed in his seabag was a tan and black shemagh but he figured the orange would be better for diving back into the depths of the ship, wouldn't want to get lost down there by yourself at this point. Especially now that most of the survivors were on the outside. He pondered on how many could still be trapped in sealed rooms, not many he was sure.

Kro shot the women a sideways glance when she called him Blondie, but he didn't comment on it. She was right. They needed to go back into the ship, and it was better taking someone that actually has to pass a pt test every now and then. The fact that she had a gun didn't hurt. As Kro began to tie the bandana around his four head, sweat band style, he put in his two cents. "Stay close to someone at all times. Pick a battle buddy and don't let them out of your sights."

Kro pulled his sea bag off and placed it in the sand near the unconscious girl. He opened it wide and dumped out the contents, leaving most of it right there on the sand. With the items now laying out in the open it didn't take long for him to find what he was looking for. A brand new, 50 foot bundle of 550 pound test cord. He picked it up and tossed it to the Red Headed man that had been put in charge of building the shelter. "That should help slick."

He replaced the empty bag on his back and approached the Major, silently waiting for her to pick where they were headed.

Russel looked over to the major as she assigned out orders. "Aye, I can manage a shelter. But My name's Russel Crenshaw, Not red." He spoke, giving only his name, as that was all that was needed right now. Popping his neck and knuckles, he looked around. Plenty of wreckage to use to make up a shelter, and plenty of debris like broken trees and such. Taking a breath, he thought a monent. Feeling the wind, he estimated a shelter that blocked the path fo the wind would be best incase a sotmr of some kind came. The skies looked clear now, but he remembered people always saying, on survivial shows and in real life that storms can come on near instantly out on the open water.

Taking stock of what was just laying around, he'd first need to build a frame, then house it. Create a bedding and an over hang. it'd be best to make a large shelter for everyone to use together, and away from the edge of the beach to keep away from the tide. They'd also need a fire......that'd be difficult. He sighed as he started gathering up some supplies for a shelter that was just laying around, from fallen tree pieces to leaves, to branches and metal bars, plates and such. Already gathered materials to make putting uo a shelter easier. Grabbing a log, he pulled it up onto his shoulders and carried it over to the desire location, taking his time and properly lifiting and such.

Lyra followed the well-fit blonde haired man as he promptly but carefully moved the injured girl and her jacket into the shade, keeping an eye on the girl's chest and hearing Gavin noisily follow along. She heard someone ask in a somewhat despairing voice about the other survivors - or rather, the lack thereof, and Lyra couldn't help the worried wrinkles that lit her features. It was hard to imagine a journey that had started out so scarily, yet hopeful, had turned downright scary. What had been a venture to save humankind was now reduced to their meager population that had somehow escaped death.

All those ships...Lyra didn't want to calculate exactly how many lives had been lost in the journey, and once again busied herself with tending to the girl and making adjustments to the position the blonde-haired man had laid her in, readjusting her into the recovery position again.

But at least they had survived, Lyra thought to herself, and as horrible as the countless deaths had been, how much more horrible would it have been if their ship hadn't made it through? The entire human raced would have been wiped out in a single instance, and that would have been that. Despite the grievous weight of loss riding on her shoulders, Lyra couldn't help her thoughts, the survivor's prayer echoing faintly around her head.

It wasn't me this time. I'm still alive.

Any more guilty thoughts were momentarily stalled, however, as Lyra felt a hand suddenly descend on her shoulder, and she looked up in surprise in time to receive Russel's praise. A grateful smile fell across her face, and Lyra felt a flush of pleasure well up against the back of her neck. "Cheers," she said, "we've all got to do our part, haven't we? When it comes to first aid, Lyra James Taylor can't be beat!" As she spoke, her eyes fell to a glint of metal on Russel's chest, and she realized he had dog tags hanging around his neck. Military, then? Lyra idly wondered how he had served as Russel handed her his duffel bag and turned to speak to the general cluster of people. It was obvious he was keeping a calm and collected head, and Lyra felt another rush of gratitude towards the man as the Major began speaking and handing out orders. It was entirely relieving to see so many people taking charge and staying calm.

"I'll stay here then, shall I?" Lyra spoke up, not a trace of sarcasm or dislike in her voice. Someone had to maintain a constant vigil over any unconscious person, anyways, and Lyra assumed she would be the only one able to recognize signs of shock and organ failure from an early stage. "I'll keep an eye on the girl, and him," she said, conviction in her voice even as she glanced around to see where the little boy had gone off to. The Great Pyrenees was nosing at his owner - or Lyra assumed the little girl was his owner, as he was laying down morosely next to her. Gavin had gone back to nosing at her ankles, and Lyra nudged him back with a toe as she bent to lay Russel's duffel bag on the ground, sitting beside it and near the girl's head, so she could easily bend down and monitor her breathing and pulse. Russel was already getting to work, and Lyra's watched him for a while, before her attention was drawn back to the beach. Specifically, to her friend.

"Well, what's the matter love?" she called out towards Cat as her friend climbed back out from where she had been descending back into the ship. "Safety in numbers, don't you think?" Lyra was genuinely mystified that Cat would rather traverse a dark and unstable ship filled with dangerous and wild animals alone than go in the company of a well-fit young man. Who had the most unusual hair, really, and Lyra wondered how on earth he managed to color it so cleanly.

The thought to ask where he had gotten his hair done crossed her mind for a moment, and almost made her break into hysterical laughter the next.

Ah...what was the matter? Nothing really... Granted, she wasn't thrilled with traversing the ship with Korey, but she wasn't really worried about him, either. He couldn't be that dumb, could he? Cael grinned to himself, hearing Kro's answer. He promised, he definitely promised to get Yuuta for him. Staring down at the girl while Lyra worked, he almost missed the woman's answer to his question. Finally; someone to answer all his questions.

"Aw, those hurt," he mused brightening up at the idea of seashell hunting. They never had a beach near his house; he liked this place a lot. "I'll go find some!"

With that, the energetic blond tore off away from the gaggle of people and near the water's edge. He was going to find the prettiest, biggest seashells anyone had ever seen. Well, maybe not but he'd certainly try his best. Vaguely, during his search, did he hear the chatter of the other adults. Something about water, going to find supplies, and making a shelter but that didn't interest him one bit.

Pulling off the over-sized hoody, he began placing all the shells he could find on top of it; it was too hot to wear it anyway. He'd hit the goldmine of all seashells as the beach was nearly covered with them. After picking up several dozen, he scooped the shell-filled hoody back up off the sand and trotted over where the girl had been moved.

"Hullo, I know you're sleepin' but I brought you some presents when you wake up," he spoke to the unconscious girl, plopping down in the shade beside her as he began to organize his new collection.

Zaiden resisted the urge to spew a string of curses. Hunter was now engaged with the animal, which by the looks of it was some sort of boar; a fat one at that. Might make a good meal if he could get out of this alive; those tusks looked pretty sharp even in the dark. Snarling, squealing, barking, and yipping filled the room as the fast paced battle continued.

If he could've seen better, Zaiden might've jump in and finished off the beast with his knife just to save the poor dog. To his surprise, Hunter seemed to be doing fairly well for himself; or at least the stoic male hoped. He couldn't leave Glenn unprotected anyway. Eventually, after the racket of the fight probably alerted what was left on the entire ship, the boar fell with a shrill squeal and laid still.

"Let's go," he barked, whistling that low whistle from before, and turned from the room. Better to be safe than sorry, maybe he'd come back for the boar after he dropped the kid off. Providing nothing else got to it first at least.

Hunter followed at his master's side, a slight limp in his step. He'd gotten a few cuts from the tusks but was barely lucky to make it away without being impaled. He gave the man's hand a lick then turned his gaze to investigate the new person, attempting to give the boy's hand a lick as well.

Zaiden picked up his pace, trying to remember each turn he took to get back to the hole. Thankfully his memory didn't fail him, though he did almost think he'd gotten them lost at one point, and he could see the light filling the hallway up ahead.

"Go ahead of me Glenn, there's others out there."

For the first time he could remember, Korey had nothing to add to the conversations; nothing at all. As he watched the girl get patched up, then moved to the shade, as well as everyone separating off into pairs to search for supplies he stood unmoving. He was staring into space, lost in his own thoughts until he caught the major pointing at him.

"Eh, huh? Oh, yeah sure," he replied dumbly, walking over towards Catriona and the ship. "Looks like you're stuck with me, eh?"

Another grin, more akin to his usual self, spread across his face. At least he wasn't on babysitting duty but he couldn't say he was thrilled to go back inside the ship. Not now that he knew there were vicious animals down there. He was going with a girl no less, not that he wouldn't usually mind that but as he stared her over he wasn't too sure she'd have his back.

Just as he was about to get back in. He caught sight of the quiet guy re-emerging from the ship. This time with a dog in tow, as well as a child. For a while, the male had actually forgotten about him.

"Oy, we got two more heads comin' out. And another dog." he shouted over his shoulder, then smirked in Cat's direction. "Shall we then?"
