Kro contemplated on answering Cael's ceaseless questioning, but eventually decided it best to ignore him entirely. It was turning into a Little Shop of Horrors really quickly. It took a great amount of strength to keep his mouth shut when the boy asked what the Marine Corps was. That was almost an offensive question to an egotistical Marine such as himself. As he was biting his tongue he heard an ever approaching noise turn into the hallway he was currently in. With out a second thought he set the boy down and quickly pulled the ka-barr out of its sheath, standing in a boxing style stance between the boy and the noise.

His heart beat fast as he tried to asses the situation. Had he really just survived a space shuttle crash just to be killed by one of the animals that had accompanied them aboard the arch? As the sound grew louder he readied himself for the worst ,but just as began to make his first strike the animal stopped and stared. He would have referred to the phenomenon as a deer in the head lights, but it literally was a fawn but instead of lights, it gazed briefly at the marine and his padawan before quickly turning its tail and fleeing back into the darkness of the ship.

Kro breathed out heavily, his heart trying to settle back in his chest. "Stupid mother f-.." he mumbled to himself, catching his words before they could escape his mouth. It was in this brief moment of rebuilding composer that the sounds of gunshots resonated in the halls of the ship. "God damn it kid, we gotta get a move on," Kro said sliding the knife into his belt, tightening it around his waist as he did. He knelt down, picked the child up once more, and started really moving in the direction of the cargo hold.

Russel had been moving quitely down the hall, his few times out hunting, Illegally, Having taught him to be as quiet as possible. His eyes adjusted quickly to the darkness as he traversed the halls and made ready to attack anything that could be a potential threat. He appreciated seeing a new face that was familiar, but Lyra wasn't anywhere near as quiet as he was. But he understood well enough that she wasn't like him. He doubted if most people could be calm enough to be quiet in such a situation. Still holding his bowie in his right hand, he advanced forward, then light started t filter through the darkness, forcing his eyes to adjust. Just as he saw a figure in the darkness, outlined by light, Lyra did as well and cried out.

He groabned a bit as lyra made herself known and ran past him to the person. He looked to the hole and as it was exp, ained this was a way out, he sheathed the large bowie knife onto the sheath on his belt. "Should work." He stated. Once the had gotten outside, he looked around to the group gathered. Though it wasn't too long until a woman, carrying a small child came running up with a small dog. Russel approached and looked to the girl. "You said crates fell on her right? How heavy?" He asked the woman. This small body, depending ont he weight and how many....it might be too late. The dogtags he had hung around his neck for all to see, right underneath the black and orange bandana around his neck.

Nadya sat up and rubbed her forehead as she regained conscience. "Chert voz'mi..." Her Russian profanity trailed off as she began to look at her surroundings. It took a few minutes, but she began to remember the few details of what had happened before she blacked out. "What a sorry excuse for a ship, can't even do it's job right!" The girl kicked the side of the metal thing with her boot. Her scowl quickly turned into a look of pain as she hopped around and rubbed her foot as it throbbed with pain. "OUCH, YOU PIECE OF SHHH-" Her words were cut off immediately as her attention turned towards the dead body that laid in front of her. So it was true, not everyone had survived the incident with the black hole, how unfortunate.....for them. Nadya pinched her nose in disgust as the stench of death filled her nostrils. She walked out of the area and went to the room across from the one she had been in.

Closing the door behind her, Nadya sniffed the small amount of fresh air that had not yet been contaminated. Her eyes glanced around the room, and she soon realized this was the one she had been given to stay in. In fact, her rucksack was still on the bed since she first threw it there. Just to make sure she didn't lose anything, she dug inside and checked the contents of the bag. Yup, everything was still in there, her gardening tools, her mother's journal and-- Hang on, there was something missing. No, Nadya didn't pack it in her rucksack, but, she had put it somewhere...."Aha!" She reached under the bed and grabbed the weapon after spotting it. Pulling out the shiny weapon, the girl examined it to make sure it was the same one. After confirming it was her father's rapier, she threw her rucksack over one arm and left the room.

A few minutes, later, the elegantly dressed girl was walking down a dark hallway. Her eyes widened when she heard faint voices coming from the other side of the hall. She couldn't see anyone on the other side, perhaps because of the darkness or her insanity beginning to take over. She approached the voices slowly, holding her rapier out in case something leaped at her. Soon, she tripped over something and fell forward. Looking back, she noticed that she had tripped over a sleeping wolf. Nadya immediately began to kick it in the face after it began to growl. She crawled away from it and grabbed her weapon, but it had already leaped on top of her. It's paws pushed down on the blade, and it's mouth salivated as it's teeth neared the girl's flesh. Nadya pushed back, but couldn't get the damn thing off of her. She was used to scaring wolves away back home, but this one didn't seem to give up so easily. Frustrated, the girl kicked the wolf's stomach and threw it a few feet away. She immediately got up and pointed the tip of the blade towards the animal. "En Garde!" She shouted, only succeeding in aggravating the thing. Good thing fencing was her forte. "GAAAH!" She closed her eyes and felt blood splatter on her cheek as she pierced through the animal's chest. It was done, she was safe again.

"Well, I, certainly," Lyra sputtering ungracefully as the brown-haired male walked off, rather abruptly in her opinion. She'd thought another survivor would be ecstatic to know he wasn't alone.

But maybe, he had already made contact with others? That would explain why their appearance hadn't been more heartening or startling to the other. And why on earth was he going back inside? For supplies, if she had to take a guess, but on a closed ship filled with dangerous beasts that could possibly explode or crumble on the slightest notice, Lyra thought it was a rather big risk to take. She was so perturbed that she missed the slight muttering the male made has he began walking away. "I say, be careful in there!" she couldn't help calling down the hallway towards the male's already distant back, and wondered how much good the warning would do him.

Russel didn't seem at all concerned with the other male, and Lyra was once again struck by a momentary feeling of appreciation and wonderment, marveling at how well the man was handling the situation. It was soon followed by a wave of shame and guilt, remembering how casual the brown-haired male had been as well. Had she been the only one that had panicked and shed some tears of pure fury after she had woken up? Was she the only one now who felt like venting in an extremely childish manner at all the hard lines, stamping and wailing like a child? It was humbling, to be sure, and Lyra made a silent vow to strengthen herself, to accept what fate had thrown in her with the grace and maturity that everyone else was affording.

That didn't stop her from feeling a rush of surprise and disappointment, however, as Russel pulled himself out of the hole with hardly any effort, and Lyra was fairly proud that she managed not to do anything more churlish than glare up into the hole. "A helping hand wouldn't have hurt none at all," she grumbled to herself, but latched onto the edge and heaved herself upwards. Lyra supposed she should be grateful that Russel had gone out before her, anyways, what with her skirt. She didn't make the ascent as smoothly and effortlessly as Russel did, but it wasn't too far above her, and before long, Lyra was tumbling out onto a beach so familiar that for one startling moment, she thought she was back on Earth.

Further observations of wherever they had crashed were put on hold, however, as Lyra saw a group of people gathered a little further away, Russel among them. It was with a start that Lyra realized she recognized another figure, and a large smile split her face.

" 'Ho, Cat!" she said happily, patting Catriona - or Cat, as she preferred - on the shoulder twice. They had met at the small cafeteria on the ship, when Lyra had spotted signs of a slight burn on the woman's arm and insisted on tending to it. They had formed a quick friendship afterwards, both willing to find companionship after being so abruptly torn from their lives on Earth, and Lyra was again feeling that selfish relief of being near someone she knew. "What a bloody mess we've all been - " Lyra began, but cut off abruptly as she realized exactly what the small group of people were huddled around.

Who, more accurately. Lyra was shell shocked long enough to hear Russel's question, before she got the gist of what had happened.

"Bloody hell," she exclaimed, squatting abruptly in the sand and pulling off her messenger bag to reach inside. Gavin jumped out with an indignant yip, but Lyra ignored him in favor of pulling out the jacket she had inside, wrinkled and squashed but it would serve its purposes. Lyra shook it out quickly and spread it along the sand - the girl would only half-fit onto it, but it was better than attempting an examination in the gritty sand. "Down," she ordered, jabbing one finger down at the jacket as she continued rummaging with her other one in her bag, triumphantly pulling out her medical kit.

Glenn awoke to the sound of a soft but panicked mewing in his ear, as well as the feeling of a rough, wet tongue sticking itself in his ear. Shivering he sat bolt upright and looked around, trying to remember where he was and what was going on. Blinking and rubbing his eyes to try and adjust them to the dark, he envied the little kitten at his side, wishing that he had the ability to see in the dark like it did.

Scowling, he slowly got to his feet, marveling at the fact he had managed to survive at all. The eleven year old had been certain when they cam across that black hole that everyone was going to end up dead. They probably were, too. He could just bet that everyone else had died and now he was the only one left. Well, him and Tiger, his kitten. But Tiger was a cat, so he didn't count.

Once his eyes had adjusted to the dark a little, he began to move about his room, looking and feeling around for anything that might've stayed intact. He could feel his swiss army knife still in his pocket, well, that was good. Across the room he found a smashed up, but still in tact box of his legos. He couldn't help but grin slightly, at least if he was all alone he'd be entertained... Looking around some more he found his small toy tool kit smashed against a wall. Most of the tools inside were broken or missing, but he did find a tape measure and a pair of scissors still intact. He looked around a bit more, but didn't find anything else of use. Shoving the scissors and tape measure in his pocket, he picked up his kitten and headed for the door.

Apparently the door didn't want to open, he had to shove, tug and pull hard to get the door to slide open just enough for him to squeeze out with his kitten tucked in one arm, his box tucked in the other.

Sliding out into the darkened hallway, he looked around, suddenly feeling nervous. Though he couldn't see much, the smells were enough to make him queasy and he suddenly he found himself hoping he was wrong in his assumptions that everyone was dead.

"H-hello?" He called out nervously as he began to take a few timid steps forward. Holding his kitten close, he carefully began to make his way down the hall.

Zaiden left his room, leaving the door wide open once more; there wasn't anything of use left in there anyway. The darkness was stifling; it was a good thing he wasn't claustrophobic else he'd be close to a panic attack by now. Shifting his gaze back and forth cautiously, searching for even a single misplaced shadow or a strange sound, he moved forward a few steps. His every intention was to go straight to the Menagerie and find his dog Hunter.

Elsewhere he heard the sounds of growling. Evidence that some of the animals aboard the ship had made it out alive as well; either to his misfortune or not. Hopefully Hunter was among them somewhere. Then another sound halted him midstep; the scraping of metal against metal. He moved against the wall, hoping the darker shadows would conceal him completely. A tentative, prepubescent voice called out returning his beating heart to it's normal pace.

"Kid? Where are you?" he returned, keeping his voice low. Alone he wouldn't mind tempting fate and allowing the lurking animals to hear him. He couldn't bring himself to endanger a child though. He kept his voice slow, steady and quiet to allow the boy ample time. "Follow my voice, come here."

This was going to put a wrench in his plan.

Korey continued to grin, almost a permanent expression for the upbeat male, as Catriona teased him further. He didn't mind working for what he wanted. That is, if it wasn't all for naught. The returned nickname made him snort, a little taken aback, but it wasn't something he hadn't heard before.

"Aw now is that the best you can do babe? I've heard that name a thousand times before," he retorted, his grin reduced to a smirk. Looks like he wasn't going to win this time around. Least he didn't spend any money on her. He didn't even realize the silent one had gone off on his own already; too engulfed in Catriona. "Fine, fine. Take your sweet time, I'll be here..."

His voice trailed off as he followed Catriona's gaze onto the army woman from before. She was asking about people with a background in medicine. Well that ruled him out completely; he was a shift manager at a fast food joint before the end of the world. He felt bad, seeing the young girl unconscious in the woman's arms though. People already dead didn't bother him, as long as he wasn't looking at them too long, but someone dying in front of him made him more than uncomfortable.

"She's...still alive, right?" He moved aside, staring on with a scowl on his face when another woman emerged from the ship and laid out her jacket. "Tch. Damn."

Still thoroughly interested in prying into Kro's personal life as much as possible, Cael was ignorant to the sound of the coming animal. To his surprise, Kro set him down but the eight-year-old didn't have much time to thinking about going to find Yuuta. Instead he was quite surprised by a fawn.

"Aw it's cute!" he squealed, grinning ear-to-ear as the animal bounded away. "I bet it's lonely. Ah! You were gonna say a bad word."

His scolding was interrupted by being scooped back up and lead away. The darkness was starting to bother him now. He liked the sunshine and the pretty beach. Kro wasn't answering any of his questions, not the important ones at least, and he was growing bored.

"Are we there yet? What are we lookin' for? When are we gonna go get Yuuta?" he whined, yawning as if to emphasize his point. He was running out of questions but didn't want to keep quiet.

The sound of Zaiden's voice had been greatly unexpected and startled him at first, though only a few seconds later he felt a rush of relief. Never before had he ever been so happy to be wrong in his assumptions. Other sounds quickly accompanied the older male's, however, unlike the comfort he felt knowing another person was alive, these ones were fairly frightening. They were the growls and snarls of animals.

Frightened, but trying to act brave, he carefully began to follow the sound of Zaiden's voice. It didn't take long until he reached the man. Frowning, he listened to the growls, oh he just knew those things were going to catch them and eat them! They were doomed for sure...

"Those animals are going to catch us and eat us, aren't they..." He mumbled quietly, looking around as he held Tiger closer.

"Lyra!" Despite the dire situation with the little girl, Cat couldn't help but feel a bit of gladness at the sight of Lyra climbing out of the ship. It was nice to see a familiar face...a bit of a friendly one at that.

"Aye, quite a bloody mess indeed," she replied, watching as the other woman walked towards Antigone and the girl. Hopefully the child would be alright...from the sounds of it, she'd been under some pretty heavy debris.

From the corner of her eye she noticed Korey scowling at the scene, and heard him ask if the girl was still alive.

"Looks like you got a heart in there somewhere at least..." She pat his chest, roughly where a person's heart would be, before quietly slipping back towards the entrance to the ship. While she was worried about the girl, she knew there was nothing that she herself could do for her, and if she wanted to go back in the ship it was best to do so while that soldier lady was preoccupied with other things. Without another glance back, she held her sketchbook in her teeth, then carefully lowered herself back down into the ship.

"And you can bet I would have finished that sentence if it wasn't for you," Kro grunted at the tike as he rounded a corner of a hall. The security force was given a brief layout of the ship just before take off, but navigating in the dark, around obstacles, and doing it all from the memory of a map ;this was becoming more challenging then it sounded. Not to mention the gun shots he had heard. Hopefully what ever it was, it wasn't people shooting at each other or it was potentially a problem.

"No." He answered the first question. "No." he answered the second. "No." He answered the third and final. It was painfully obvious the boys questions were indeed more then simple yes-or-nos but trying to listen to this kid while navigating was becoming more trouble then it was worth.

Kro finally found what he was looking for, but go figure not only did no one listen to the Brass, she wasn't even there. "You gotta be shittin' me. Only an officer." He shook his head crossing the hold to the previously dropped ramp. "Hell, at least she got this door open." He gazed out onto the beach and into the nearby forest. Lots of tree that had similar characteristics to that of the common palm back on Earth. Clearly this place had a similar climate. The trees looked well suited to brave the strongest of storms, which meant one thing to Kro at the moment. There would be strong storms. Whilst taking in is observations he heard voices, and even a bark if he hadn't been mistaken. Kro marched down the ramp and looked to his right. The gathering of survivors seemed to be closer to the hole then the cargo bay. "I told her..." The man slowly started approaching the group, putting Cael down as he did.

Antigone placed placed her ear down against the girls chest, listening for the faint beat of a heart and more importantly for fluid in her lungs. You didn’t become a Major without having gone through a few first aid lessons. Seeing someone pull a jacket out for her, Antigone moved the girl onto it and gave the white haired woman a short glance. She looked familiar…staff most likely. Antigone hadn’t really gotten to know any ‘ passengers’ per se. “90…100 pounds? She was in the cargo bay as well and if she was there before the crash there is no telling what knocked her around. Just tell us what you need to help.” Backing off a bit seeing as Lyra seemed equipped for the situation Antigone stood and looked at the handful of people who had made it outside. They really were screwed. So few out of so many? They’d have to get organized quickly if they wanted to survive.

“Do we know if there is anyone else inside who needs help getting out? The Cargo Bay door is open so if anyone heard my message earlier, hopefully that's where they'll head.” Her brow was furrowed, attention still on the little girl until she saw the blond man returning with Cael. “Thank goodness.” Came the heavy sighed, face relaxing momentarily before narrowing her eyes at the man again. “What were you thinking taking him back in there?! Are you not aware that a veritable zoo has been released?” The white dog she had found with the girl had taken to chasing a puppy around the group and the barking was beginning to grate on her last nerve. “Alright…nevermind. Not important.” she held her chin in her hand and looked thoughtfully at their surroundings. It was astounding how calm most everyone seemed. Desensitized maybe to misfortune. “I’m Major Alexander of the U.S Army. Has anyone found fresh water?” There was almost no chance of getting to the water storage units in the bottom of the ship since most of it had probably been crushed on impact, that and the filtration system would have needed power to run anyway. They couldn’t all stop to wait on the little girl and see if she made it through, not if they wanted to survive.

Zaiden waited for the boy to approach, catching sight of a few of his features that weren't stifled by the lack of light, then scowled even deeper when the child didn't seem all that confident they would be alright. Not that he could blame the kid but weren't kids supposed to be full of sugar, optimism, and a tons of questions? Then again he wasn't when he was young, so maybe not.

"If you don't stay close to me then yeah," he warned, reluctant to just reach over and grab the boy's hand and make it all easier. Instead he pulled out the knife and continued down the hallway. He wasn't giving up on Hunter yet, even if it was a possibly terrible idea. "Your name, kid?"

The bowels of the ship were no longer as quiet as they had been before everyone awoke. It seemed with the renewed energetic presences of people brought the animals some energy as well. He wasn't sure how long they had all been out for but in the meantime the zoo on the loose had their fair share of fun. He raised an eyebrow at what looked like the splatter of blood, claw marks, and eventually the carcass of some sort of deer-like anime; maybe an antelope. It wasn't essential enough that he investigate but he did peek behind him to make sure the kid was still close behind him.

"Keep on the lookout. If you hear anything at all, let me know and get on the other side of me." he commanded. It wouldn't hurt to have a second pair of ears even if he did have enough confidence in his skills to hear it on his own. They were almost there, the various animals sounds seemed to deepen somehow. As if it was no longer off in the distance down some hallway but all around them yet not close enough to be alarming. His grip on his hunting knife tightened and he let out a low whistle upon entering the Menagerie.

Cael puffed out his cheeks indignantly. Saying bad words was, well, bad. Yuuta had to put a quarter in the swear jar all the time and he never had money for candy. It didn't help his mood, or his boredom, that Kro was avoiding most of his questions. They had rounded a corner, and it was quite clear that Kro was now ignoring him.

"You're not even listening! "No" doesn't even make sense!" he whined some more. Why did he even listen to him anyway. He still had no idea why he wanted a gun, what the Marine Corps was, if they were going to get Yuuta any time soon or where they were going and if they were there yet. That was a lot of questions and he wanted answers. "Are we-"

Another barrage of questions was avoided by the sudden amount of light pouring into the cargo hold as they entered it. Apparently the ramp had been opened, revealing a view of the beach and the forest just beyond it. Eyes sparkling, Cael set off in a run as soon as Kro set him down only turning back briefly.

"Don't forget! You promised to find Yuuta!" he reminded the man as he bolted towards the group gathered around something. Come to find that something was actually a someone and she seemed hurt. On the plus side, she was a kid just like him. "What happened? She gonna be okay? Did a bad animal get her? I don't see any blood. How come she's sleepin'?"

Glenn didn't seem all that convinced in the slightest that they'd be alright even if he stuck close to Zaiden, but kept his mouth shut. Truth be told the man made him a little nervous, the way he kept scowling like that.

"Glenn...who're you?" He replied, eying the knife in the man's hand carefully before moving to follow after him quietly. The knife wasn't very reassuring to him, if some really big carnivorous animal came after them he was sure that knife wouldn't be much help at all. They'd be done for.

At Zaiden's orders to keep himself alert he nodded, though with a slight frown. Well, if anything, he supposed whatever might come after them would try and eat Zaiden first, and then he could maybe run away...though he doubted he'd get very far.

He grew more nervous as they passed the dead body, the sight of which made his stomach lurch. The sounds seemed to grow closer, too... Holding his kitten as close as he could without squeezing the life out of the poor thing he followed after Zaiden, making sure to stay quiet. Even if he had little hope of the animals not finding them...he wasn't about to try and attract their attention, either.

"What're you whistling for?" He whispered quietly while looking around. It seemed weird to him, what reason was there to suddenly whistle?
