Zero Requiem... Suzaku never had any intention of going along with it. He agreed to Lelouch’s plan, even helped with all the preparations for it, because at first it was something he really wanted. Zero Requiem sounded like an ideal way for them both to atone for their sins. Lelouch vi Britannia would become the Demon King and would be slain by the hand of the terrorist he once hid behind the mask of. Suzaku Kururugi, in return, would become dead to the world and live on as Zero, a symbol of hope and equality.

The thought of killing Lelouch – while something he once craved more than anything – did bother Suzaku. Lelouch was his childhood friend, his first friend; and while this Lelouch differed greatly from the one of Suzaku’s memories, and had so much innocent blood on his hands, Suzaku couldn’t forget that little boy who’d given him his first real taste of happiness. But that wasn’t what made Suzaku change his mind. Suzaku had been firm in his resolve to kill Lelouch, despite their once having been best friends, because it was what Lelouch himself wanted – and, more importantly, it was what the world wanted, what the world needed. And above all else, they were doing this for the world, or so they claimed.
User Image
But as the days passed and drew closer to Zero Requiem, Suzaku’s opinion shifted. He no longer saw their plan as fair, as just. Rather, as he spent his days in solitude, unable to face the public due to his supposed death in a battle against the Black Knights, Suzaku began to see what he believed were Lelouch’s true intentions behind Zero Requiem.

Lelouch wanted a way out, an escape... and what better escape was there than death?

It disgusted Suzaku to think that, even after everything they had been through, Lelouch still put himself first above everything else. This wasn’t about atoning for their sins, or about recreating the world. This was about running away. Lelouch was running away from the crimes he committed, no longer willing to live with the monster he’d become – the monster the world now truly saw him for. He was running away, and leaving Suzaku behind to live with the guilt and pain.

Suzaku couldn’t die. Because of the damned Survive Geass Lelouch placed on him, Suzaku was cursed to wander the Earth for God only knew how long, shouldering the hate of the world on his back, carrying the suffering of the people with him wherever he went, unable to hide from the sins he’d committed.

So Suzaku changed the plan – without Lelouch’s knowledge, of course. Lelouch would never know – to him, things would appear to be going exactly according to his calculations – until it was too late. Suzaku would never kill him, no. Lelouch would live. He would live with the hurt and the suffering he’d caused, he would live with the murders, the lies... all of it; Suzaku would not let him forget, as long as they both were still breathing.

Today was the day...Zero Requiem. Today, he'd use his tyrant forces to kill everyone that opposed against him. Today, he'd strike fear and hatred into the hearts of innocents. Today, he was going to die and atone for his sins. Today, Elevens and Britannians would have their hatred lifted and be able to live as one country. He smiled happily to himself. It was today he would make a better world for his sister to live in peace. He knew Nunnally couldn't stand him at this point. She saw him as a tyrant, the devil, an evil among evils. As long as she didn't know what he was about to do, everything would be worth it. "I love you, Nunnally..." He whispered to himself knowing today he'd once again have to assume the part as emperor for the last time, and look down on his sister with hurtful eyes.

He threw on his white emperor silks, gazing softly into the mirror. So this is what he wanted. He wanted to destroy Britannia even if it meant destroying his own life. His father...His disgusting father, it was all his fault that the world was like this. It shouldn't be up to him to fix it, but once CC's geass was bestowed upon him, his faith was sealed. He did enjoy his life with his friends at Ashford Academy. Milla was still as hyper and mischievous as ever, Nina had finally calmed down from Princess Euphemia's death, and Rivalz still wanted to go on gambling adventures but had his sight set on another person. Shirley, Rolo, and for what the world knew, Suzaku were all dead to him now. Kallen, Ohgi, and the Black Knights were set to be executed today. He could only hope that things would go according to plan.

The hours passed slowly as he counted down the last minutes he would draw his breath. He didn't regret it. The only regret he had was leaving Nunnally alone in the world, but she'd have Zero now. He was confident that Suzaku would take good care of his sister. He readied himself making sure all the preparations were correct. All the prisoners to be executed today were already on their mantles, the former prince Schneizel as well. He stood in the loft watching them carry his sister out and shackle her to the lower part of his transport vessel. Everything was going as planned.

The time finally arrived. The transport vessels were set into motion as his glossed over eyes gazed at all the loyal Britannians that came to watch the execution. Once they had traveled for a good while down the road, he felt he should announce himself to his subjects. It was only right since they came all this way. He stood up slowly, giving everyone a soft smile."I want to thank all the loyal Britannians and Elevens that have came out today to support their beliefs." He said as he threw his arms out to express a large action. "To all the rebels, this is what you get if you commit crimes against Britannia. To all the innocents, continue living as you are now. I, Lelouch vi Britannia, am here as emperor to watch over you."

He could see the look on his subjects faces now. No one was cheering or even had a smile on their face. They looked more saddened and afraid. It was obvious that his plan had worked. He couldn't have been happier. Soon, his sister wouldn't have to suffer anymore and now that she had her sight back, she'd be able to protect herself better and help make the world a kinder place.

~Soon...soon I'll be able to finally free myself from Britannia's shackles as well as views from the entire world. CC I'm sorry I couldn't fulfill the contract, but I want you to live as well. The world would just be a better place without me around.~

It was time! They were just minutes away from Zero Requiem. He took a couple deep breathes keeping his composure. He'd make it look realistic. He could only pray that Suzaku would make it quick, it wouldn't be painless, but the quicker the faster the citizens could finally be at peace.

                                    ~Suzaku...goodbye old friend...~

The crowds that lined the street were silent, but not respectfully so, as the emperor’s motorcade neared the execution sight designated for the captured rebels who traveled, bound like animal trophies, with the tyrant. Every once and a while, someone would whisper about how wrong this was, only to be hushed immediately by another.

“They’ll kill you if they hear you talking like that!”

Lelouch had really become a tyrant, despised and feared by all. The world truly would be better off without him.

But Suzaku was finished thinking about the world. For once in his life, he was not putting the well-being of others as his highest priority. Right now, just this once, he was going to do something for himself. His plan did benefit the greater good, though; Suzaku most likely wouldn’t go through with it if it didn’t. If all went well, Lelouch would still fall from power, disappear from the public eye. Suzaku would personally see to it that Lelouch never again brought harm to another living person.

This would be justice. Suzaku’s idea of Zero Requiem, not Lelouch’s. To the world he would be dead, just like Suzaku himself, but in actuality, he would live and be punished for his actions.

He could hear the vehicles approaching, the low rumbling of the engines, and just above them the sound of Lelouch’s voice as he addressed his horrified audience. Just down the road, Suzaku could make out the multi-level transport that belonged to the Emperor. He clutched the hilt of the sword tightly, knowing the time was near, and any moment he the crowd would take notice of him – Lelouch would take notice of him.

      “Hey, is that...?”

      “It is! It’s Zero!”User Image

      “Zero?”

      “Impossible!”

Suzaku took that as his cue. In a fashion he’d watched the true Zero do countless times in the past, Suzaku tossed his cape over his shoulder and began to run. Several of the Geassed Royal Guards sprung into action, only to be stopped by Jeremiah Gottwald, who announced he would be the one to take care of the situation. Another perfectly woven thread of Lelouch’s scheme, ‘Zero’ easy bypassed Jeremiah, jumping on him and knocking him to the floor, and landing at the base of the transport vehicle.

From behind the mask, he glared up at the Emperor. True to his part, Lelouch appeared enraged, perhaps a little frightened. But Suzaku knew he was waiting – waiting for a death that would never come, not by Suzaku’s hand.

He passed the shackled Schneizel and Nunnally without a second glance, and before he even realized, he stood before Lelouch, and there was no turning back.

At last, it was time, the moment he had been waiting for had arrived. As he heard the crowd scream Zero's name, he knew Suzaku was waiting for him. His friend from childhood was now his worst enemy, all because of his stupid geass activating on its own. It was Britannia's fault to begin with.

He plasted a look of panic on his face as he saw Zero by pass his guards easily. Of course, the only one that mattered was Jeremiah. He had played his role perfectly and the audience was eating it up. This was the perfect set up. Lelouch vi Britannia would be killed by Zero's hands. All the hatred in the world would be turned straight on him and once he had fallen it would be a better world. He kept telling himself this over and over.

It was time to play his role. He quickly scurried to his feet as he through out his arms in a panic"Guards! What is this!? This traitor...capture him! Don't let him ne---" He sentence was cut off as Zero was now standing in front of him. This was it. It was finally time for his reign as Tyrant to end. His eyes showed how remorse. In face, he welcomed the painful blow that Suzaku would make.

"Live...a become a symbol of hope for those who need it the most..." He whispered softly as he braced himself for the Suzaku's wrath. In the end, he would die with a smile on his face. He wouldn't let anything take away what he had sacrificed for his sister and friends.

Lelouch’s words almost made Suzaku lose his resolve. He hesitated for a moment, wishing the other hadn’t said anything at all – let alone something like that. Not when Suzaku was about to betray him yet again.

No. He couldn’t be thinking like this, he couldn’t give in to what Lelouch wanted, not this time. He had Lelouch figured out; he knew what Lelouch was trying to do. And... Suzaku wouldn’t give in. Not when he’d made up his mind long ago about his own Zero Requiem.

“I’m sorry, Lelouch...” he whispered back, summoning his will and drawing back his sword for the kill.

It had been an error on Lelouch’s part to choose Suzaku for this duty. Someone like Jeremiah, whose loyalty was unquestionable, would have been far more suited for the job. But Suzaku... Well, it was all because Lelouch trusted him. But why on Earth should he? Suzaku had never given him any reason... Until not long ago, they fought on opposing sides of the war.

Shaking himself of these thoughts, Suzaku thrust the sword forward. The blade pierced Lelouch’s chest near his heart, blood immediately pooling at the site, staining the otherwise pristine Emperors robes. The wound would not kill Lelouch, not if he was treated immediately – and Suzaku would make sure he was.

He drew back, unsheathing the sword from Lelouch’s body. According to Lelouch’s plan, Zero was now supposed to watch indifferently as the Demon King fell and died before the masses, a pitiful death that not a soul would mourn over. Suzaku allowed Lelouch to go as far as tumble down the ramp of his transport, where he landed beside the broken and bound Nunnally. User Image

The crowd was absolutely silent, hopeful, as Zero descended the ramp shortly afterwards, following the trail of blood made by Lelouch’s body. He stopped as he stood above the Emperor, watching him briefly before scanning the crowd.

“Lelouch vi Britannia... you are a sinner who deserves a fate far worse than death,” he stated calmly, voice garbled by Zero’s mask, sounding completely different from his own voice.

And I’ll be sure you get it.

First he would need to carry Lelouch away, before anyone tried to come to his rescue or before he really did bleed to death. Kneeling beside the fallen Emperor, as a Knight would to his King, Suzaku gathered Lelouch in his arms. It would not please the crowd if he ran with the body – they would find it suspicious, certainly – but Suzaku could hardly say he gave a damn. When he appeared before the public and announced the certainty of the tyrant’s death, all would be well again.

Suzaku would count on Jeremiah and the others to release the prisoners. Aside from treating Lelouch, that was the only thing that concerned the former knight.

Suzaku's apology rang through his ears. He was glad to see his best friend and worst enemy really did care about him in some way. Feeling remorse for a fallen friend. No matter what, he still considered Suzaku as his friend and he'd trust him no matter what. Suzaku would be a suitable Zero to take his place. He was strong enough to lead the broken country to salvation. He wouldn't be assassinated that easily due to his "Live" Geass that was placed upon him. Suzaku wouldn't die until old age caught up to him. Most importantly, deep down, he believer Suzaku wanted to help all the innocent elevens Japanese who got caught up in this mess.

He gasped rather violently as the sword pierced through him. The cold metal easily slashed through his fragile body. He grasped onto Zero's robes for a moment, his fingers already covered in blood too. "This is your punishment too. You'll forever live behind that mask. People will love you, and yet, you'll never be able to show them who Zero is." He stumbled out. Even though he believed in Suzaku, he still had to get back at him somehow for all the trouble he had caused him. This was his version of getting the last laugh on him.

The feeling of the sword being pulled back out of him was enough to make him cough in pain. It was like be stabbed all over again. In his mind, he could only think of what he had said when geass was first bestowed upon him.

~One should not fire upon an opponent, unless he too is ready to be fired upon.~

He knew ever since he was given geass that his life was a gamble. It was just like a game of chess and now his king had been taken over and destroyed. He fell forward, sliding along the ramp that lead up to him or down to Nunnally. The last thing he wanted was for his sister to see him like this. Her pleading and hurtful eyes told him that she knew what he had done. He really did just want to live in a peaceful world beside her, but now, that was just a foolish dream.

His eyes softly closed. He could still hear Nunnally's cries and the screams and shouts of people around him. He was bleeding much to fast to care about any of it. He had done his deed and Suzaku had done his. Britannia will now be a place where the Japanese and the Britannians can live in harmony.

His body laid limp as he felt strong arms lift him up as if they were carrying him. He should of just been kept there for a while until they knew he was dead. It wouldn't be long now. He could feel the blood from his wound converging to the lowest part of his body and dripping off onto the ground. He smiled softly to himself.

                                    ~Goodbye...~

He then fainted from blood loss in Zero's arms.

“This is your punishment too. You'll forever live behind that mask. People will love you, and yet, you'll never be able to show them who Zero is.”

Suzaku could accept that. What had they called it, the Geass of the People’s Wish? Suzaku accepted that form of Geass. Living as Zero, unable to reveal his true identity. His old self was dead – at least, to the rest of the world; Zero was all that was left for him.

Except with you, Lelouch, he thought, unable to help the small upward curl of his lip. Lelouch still thought he won, and that was his final taunt. But Lelouch underestimated him... he would see.

The body was heavy in his arms, a dead weight, but nothing Suzaku couldn’t handle. A quick glance down, through the mask smeared with the bloody imprint of Lelouch’s hand, showed that the Emperor had already fallen unconscious. He needed to move quickly, otherwise there was a slim chance of Lelouch surviving through this.

He don’t know how he managed to leave the scene without causing a panic or some other outburst, but Jeremiah and the others must have found some way to manage the crowd of citizens. Suzaku didn’t spend too long worrying about this, too busy concentrating on how to get Lelouch back to the palace without making a commotion. This was where having a Geass such as the one Lelouch possessed would come in handy. Not that Suzaku would ever want such a curse, but it would certainly make this part of his plan easier if he could bypass the guards with a simple instruction for them to forget ever seeing him.

Luckily, being the former Knight of Zero also had its upside, as it afforded Suzaku with knowledge of all the palace’s secret entrances. Being such a paranoid person, Lelouch had constructed several hidden passages for himself to travel in case of emergency, one of which Suzaku knew lead to the prison cells beneath ground. Once Suzaku reached the palace, it wouldn’t take him too long to locate it.

But for now... he needed to do something to stop the flow of blood from Lelouch’s wound. There was no way he could save Lelouch if he waited until he arrived at the palace to begin treating him. The nearest alley Suzaku came across he ducked into, making sure the coast was clear before gently setting Lelouch down and quickly getting to work.

First, he grabbed a handful of Lelouch’s robes, tearing long strips of them to be used as makeshift bandages. Once he was finished with this, he gently worked on removing Lelouch’s clothing, pulling the robe off and unbuttoning the white shirt underneath so Lelouch’s torso was bare.

The mark was a clean one, and Suzaku couldn’t help but take pride in his excellent swordsmanship. A single line across Lelouch’s chest, below the heart, mirrored on his back as well. Using Lelouch’s discarded robe, he wiped away some of the blood. He’d always hated Lelouch’s Emperor attire, feeling that white didn’t suit the other in the slightest. Rather, Zero’s outfit was much more fitting.

It took several minutes, but Suzaku managed to wrap Lelouch’s chest to the best of his ability. It didn’t completely stop the blood from leaving his body, but it was better than leaving the wound completely unattended.

That will have to do. User Image

After placing a hand against Lelouch’s neck and feeling a heartbeat still beneath his fingers, Suzaku gingerly took Lelouch into his arms and proceeded on his way back to the palace.

      - - - - - - -

      Several hours later.

There was nothing for him to do wait. Not long ago, he’d finished properly dressing Lelouch’s wounds they way he’d been taught in the army. Lelouch hadn’t woken up at all through the procedure, but Suzaku knew he was still alive; it would probably be a while yet until he came around, and until then Suzaku didn’t feel like staying in the dungeon. So he’d shackled Lelouch to the wall and used another piece of his clothes to blindfold him. It would terrify Lelouch, no doubt, when he finally regained consciousness, but Suzaku hardly cared.

He needed to make an appearance before the people of Britannia. To ascertain them of the Demon King’s death as well as see to the prisoners’ freedom and the passing of the Emperor’s crown. In accordance with Lelouch’s willing, the rule of Britannia would fall to Nunnally, whom they both had no doubt would succeed in restoring the disgraced kingdom to its former glory and ushering in a kinder new era.

It had to be a good eight hours before Lelouch started to move at all. Everything felt so cold around him. Was this what death felt like? It only made sense...was his consciousness still there in the afterlife. It was a strange feeling to him. His mind was almost blank, but was slowly starting to regain thought and composure.

Slowly, he began to move slightly as he stirred awake. It was an odd feeling to him. He didn't feel any different from when he was alive. Maybe he was in limbo at this point? Were people supposed to remember their past life? It had to be punishment for all the sins he had committed. How else could he explain this?

His eyes fluttered a few times before drifting open. Something was wrong. Everything was black and he felt as if something was blocking his sight. Not only was it cold where he was, but his sight was gone now too. This was just great, was this really hell?

He moved quickly, only to be jerked back by chains. This quickly caused him to spaz. What was going on? Everything felt way to real and even where he was pierced still had a pain to it. It was more of a human pain though. He always imagined hell being a place of fire and ominous, but this...this place was dark and cold.

"Hello..." He called softly, not really expecting an answer. He shook his body again, hearing the shackles rattle at the same time. He winced realizing that if he moved around too much that his chest would hurt. Was he just suppose to stay there and not move or eternity? So many of his questions were unanswered.

"At least Britannia was saved..." He said with a slight smile on his face. Maybe his sentence wouldn't be that bad since he sacrificed himself for the sake of others?

Suzaku didn’t need Geass to gain the trust of the people as Zero. Everyone who had been present for the supposed regicide was suspicious of him – of his identity, of the whereabouts of the Demon King’s body, of what would happen next. When Zero promised them the emperor was very much dead, they believed him with little hesitation, though there were several demands to see the body.

Suzaku told them the body had been taken care of, buried in a desolate area where none could visit. The Demon King did not deserve a formal burial, but as a human being he didn’t deserve to have his grave defiled should its whereabouts be revealed. This was scene as pointless by some, but merciful by far more.

As to his identity, Suzaku gave them the same answer he’d heard from Lelouch many times in the past.

“Zero is a symbol.” And it satisfied the majority of the crowd.

He was not there to rule over them, but rather act as a silent observer, only stepping in if necessary – if the people needed him. He assured that the crown would pass down to the rightful heir to the Britannian throne – Nunnally vi Britannia. The girl had been too overcome with grief by the loss of her brother to do more than accept with a shaky nod of the head, tears still streaming from her large violet eyes – they were so beautiful, so much like Lelouch’s, now that Suzaku could finally see them – though her sobs had, for the most part, quieted down. User Image

Suzaku hadn’t wanted to deal with politics. There were so many other things on his mind that arranging a conference with other world officials was of minimal interest to him. Nonetheless, it needed to be done.

Afterwards... once it was all said and done, the meetings arranged... Zero disappeared.

Suzaku returned to the palace, and by this time it was well after dark. He had no way of knowing if Lelouch had awoken yet or not, but he figured the former emperor would remain unconscious until the next morning, at the earliest. So he was surprised to hear, as he entered the dungeon through the hidden entrance, the rattling of chains. As the only prisoner down there, it could only be Lelouch making the noise.

Silently, Suzaku approached the holding cell, holding his breath. Lelouch was awake. Lelouch was awake, now what? Unlike Lelouch, Suzaku did not plan his movements so far in advance, and now he was at a loss for what to do.

In his cell, Lelouch was obviously awake, alert, panicked. With the blindfold hiding his cursed eyes and the shackles holding him to the wall, he looked rather pathetic, weak – something the proud Lelouch vi Britannia almost never appeared as – like a small, caged animal.

“...You’re awake,” he said by way of greeting, voice quiet yet echoing off the damp cell walls.

The only sounds Lelouch could hear were the dripping of water onto the ground followed by a slight splash, and his chains as he would move ever so slightly to try and find a better position. Other than his lightly heavy breathing, it was silent. This is probably what freaked Lelouch out the most right now. Maybe he really was in hell? Contrary to popular belief, maybe hell isn't made of flame. Maybe it was a place of slow and painful torture? Could this be his? Shackled to a cold wall, unable to see, and silent didn't seem like torture compared to being stabbed with a knife over and over again or even being burnt alive, but to Lelouch it was still psyching him out.

The former level headed emperor had to look so pathetic as his arms tightened around against the chains and sweat droplets mixed with water dripped from his face and hair. His breathing became heavier as time went on and he wasn't fully recovered from his stab wound either. Everything was starting to overwhelm him. It was foolish to even think about struggling. There was no way out of this right now. The black knights and even geass couldn't get him out of this mess. "I guess this is my punishment for my sins..." He whispered softly to himself in a saddened voice.

                                    ~“...You’re awake.”~

His head perked up instantly. A voice; he knew this voice. The voice echoed in his head before processing it into a thought. It couldn't be!

                                    "Suzaku!"

He called out not understanding why Suzaku was here. It was possible that he was just hearing things or that he was just an illusion in his mind, but everything was just so real. It was too real. What was going on?

He quickly struggled against the chains again only to find himself helpless as he fell back down against the wall and floor. He winced slightly when his back fell against the cold surface hitting his wound. "What's the meaning of this?" He hissed slightly out trying to hide the pain in his voice. Even if it wasn't Suzaku, he could try and get any answer out of someone, or something.

If not for the fact that his white robes were stained with blood and grime from the dungeon floor, Suzaku might have likened Lelouch to an angel – standing there, with his immaculate pale skin and the contrasting dark hair that framed his perfect face. A fallen angel, perhaps that suited Lelouch better. A captured angel, perhaps that fit him best of all, for his fate lay in Suzaku’s hands now, after all; he was Suzaku’s prisoner.

“I guess this is my punishment for my sins...”

It was, oh it was. If only Lelouch knew how true his words actually were.

He watched with a small amount of pity in his eyes as Lelouch struggled against his chains, only to be ultimately defeated by their strength. The former emperor slid down the wall in a way that must have aggravated his wound. Suzaku knew he should have felt guiltier about watching a friend suffer, but for some reason couldn’t muster up more than an ounce of sympathy. User Image

“I already told you I was sorry, Lelouch,” he replied, affirming Lelouch’s suspicions that it really was him. On the royal transport, just before he’d stabbed Lelouch, he’d apologized – though obviously not for the reasons Lelouch must have had in mind. “But I couldn’t have you dying on me.”

Not when he had to spend the rest of his life hiding under an identity not meant for him. Not when he still had so many unanswered questions, so many regrets, so many wounds that had yet to close.

Suzaku closed the short distance between himself and Lelouch, crouching down before the other man and slowly reaching out to him, parting the folds of his robes to glance at the haphazard stitching over the still-fresh gash on the other’s chest.

“You should try not to move around a lot. You’ll only aggravate the wound.”

~“I already told you I was sorry, Lelouch,”~

WHAT?! It really was Suzaku!? This was all starting to get overwhelming. Why would he do such a thing? Suzaku was suppose to kill him, so that the tyrant king would be no more and the world could be a better place. That was the plan! So why was he still alive, and why was he chained to the wall. Even if the stab wound didn't kill him right away, he would of died from blood loss. It wasn't like the wound wasn't that mediocre.

                                    ~ “But I couldn’t have you dying on me.”~

Lelouch couldn't believe this. From the sounds of his voice, he didn't believe that keeping him alive was for a friendly reason. Well, that and the fact that he was shackled to a wall! What type of friend shackles their best friend to a wall when he should be resting in a bed instead!? He shook his head a few times trying to loosen the blindfold, but failed miserably. Just what was Suzaku's plan? Why was he doing this?

"Suzaku..." His voice trailed off and he felt Suzaku's hands against him. Just what was he doing? He quickly slashed out again, only to be quickly caught and rebounded by the chains. He let his body lay limp for a moment, glaring at the other male, which couldn't be seen. He was anything but happy. Suzaku was going to far. If anyone from Britannia found out about this, not only would Lelouch be in deeper trouble, but what he had hoped to accomplish would be ruined.

"...I'm suppose to be dead. Why are you doing this? We agreed this was best for Britannia, and yet, you still betrayed me even though you were able to finally get your revenge. Suzaku...I don't understand." He said in a confused tone. He really was confused. He could piece together some things, but everything he thought of, he wished not to be true. His best friend had already betrayed him...he could only hope it was out of sympathy, and not malice.

Suzaku seemed to be worried about his wound though, so maybe he did do it out of kindness? That still didn't explain for the blindfold and the shackles though. "Can you remove this?" He asked in a soft voice as he used his hand to point to his head, close to where his blindfold was. If he really wasn't dreaming, he wanted to see Suzaku for himself. Even if it was used to cover up his geass, he had already used it on Suzaku and couldn't use it again on him. That was one disadvantage to having such great power...

As expected, Lelouch reacted violently, lashing out at Suzaku – though not getting very far, thanks to the chains. Suzaku didn’t even blink, his lips tugging downwards. Being ignored was not something he liked, but Lelouch had never been one to listen to him.

“I said don’t move,” he repeated sharply, watching a droplets of blood pooled around the stitching. “Look what you’ve done.” And he phrased the words purposely, knowing Lelouch couldn’t see the sewn up wound on his chest, and not planning on letting that change any time soon.

      “...you still betrayed me...”

Suzaku bristled, the fragment of Lelouch’s sentence affecting him far more than he would have imagined it might. Because he had betrayed Lelouch, many times in the past, and his alteration of Zero Requiem was indeed another act of treachery to add to the list of many. Still, Suzaku hated how Lelouch tried to turn the situation around – as if this was all Suzaku’s fault, as if he was the only one in the wrong.

He swallowed, feeling a burning anger rising inside of him.

He wouldn’t have had to result to this, if not for Lelouch! If not for Lelouch and all his selfishness and duplicity, none of this would have happened. It was Lelouch who destroyed every happiness Suzaku had ever known – Euphemia, any semblance of a normal life, Euphemia – all because of his stupid rebellion, his stupid, selfish rebellion. And because Lelouch was too self-centered to face the consequences of his actions, Suzaku had been forced to take away his only method of escape – death. User Image

“Revenge?” he repeated, the anger evident in his voice as he gripped Lelouch’s robes tightly. It would be wrong to shake an injured man, but he wanted to so badly – shake him until the confused expression slipped from his pale face and any sense returned to that so-called brilliant mind of Lelouch’s. “How could it be called revenge, when you wanted it? How could killing you ever be satisfying to me, when you wanted to die?”

Noticing his hands were shaking, Suzaku released Lelouch and sighed loudly. “I never wanted revenge, Lelouch.” Maybe that was a lie, because he had thought of killing Lelouch – many, many times in the past, back when Lelouch wasn’t begging him to be his executioner. But it wasn’t what he wanted most. Much more than seeing Lelouch dead, he wanted answers – real answers.

Emerald eyes fell on the blindfold tied tightly around Lelouch’s head. After a short mental debate, he concluded it wouldn’t hurt. From what Suzaku learned of Lelouch’s Geass, it could only be used on a person once. Since Lelouch already gave him the command to ‘survive’, that made the cursed power useless against him.

Without a word, Suzaku quickly undid the knot holding the blindfold together, sliding it away from Lelouch’s head and meeting the other’s violet gaze coolly.

                                    ~"I said don't move."~

Lelouch was stunned by Suzaku's harsh words. This wasn't the Suzaku he knew? Had he really changed this much? He struggled a bit more against the chains not liking the atmosphere that the two was having in this confined space. There had to be something he could. He'd think of a way out of here yet.

He felt the tightened grip on his robes and that only made him tense up more. Suzaku was really angry. Angry probably wasn't even the right word for what his friend was feeling. As Suzaku spoke, he just felt the grip get tighter and the shakes became increasingly violent. He didn't see killing him as revenge? He was suppose to atone for his sins. It's true that he did want this, but it wasn't because he was suicidal. He knew it was the only way to save Britannia and Japan. The world needed someone to focus their anger and hardships on. He took that spot knowing full well what the outcome would be. How could Suzaku compare that to something he wanted? Didn't he know that Nunnally was the most important person to him? That he hated hearing her cries of pain and sadness as her brother drew in his last breaths.

                                    ~“I never wanted revenge, Lelouch.”~

W-What was Suzaku saying? He knew Suzaku wanted revenge. He hated Zero with a passion for killing Princess Euphemia. Which really wasn't his fault! He didn't understand how strong the power of Geass could be at that time, nor did he realize that it was automatically on. He was just joking freely with the Princess and then things took a turn for the worse. He never meant it to happen this way. He was willing to join Euphemia's idea to join Britannia and Japan together. Why couldn't Suzaku see that?

He felt hands brush against his head, finally untying the blindfold around his eyes. His eyes slowly opened, blinking a few times to adjust to sight. Luckily for him it was dimly lit in the dungeon area, so it didn't take long. His cursed eyes gazed into cold emerald eyes. His eyes quickly gazed to the side, not wanting to look at Suzaku. Who would after all that had happened?

"Suzaku, what do you really want then?" He replied in a calm voice trying to get his composure back. He'd get what he wanted out of Suzaku.
