One by one, the thirteen most infamous villains in the universe appeared in the Chapel of Hollow Bastion, gathering around a circular table in the center of the room. They appeared in bursts of purplish smoke, transported against their will, and they became more hostile with each new addition.

"Did you do this, fish face?" a man with flaming blue hair demanded.

"I didn't do a thing," said a large woman with tentacles undulating around her body, "but you could have brought us here just as easily, Lord of the Dead."

A dark man with a top hat and a cane snorted, "Nearly half of us could have done this, honey."

A sack creature vaguely resembling the shape of a person said, "Including you, Shadow Man!"

The Shadow Man made a flippant gesture of his hand. "Speak up, Oogie, can't hear you over the little pitter-patter of bugs against burlap."

"Silence, all of you!" a woman's voice thundered, and the command echoed, resonating through the stone hallway.

Maleficent, the mistress of all evil, stepped out of the shadows.

She looked each and every one of them in the eye as she approached the center table, waving a hand over it, creating a shimmering image of the χ-blade.

"I'm sure you have all heard the legend of the χ-blade." The projection of the χ-blade spun slowly, and when Maleficent brushed her fingers over it, the image flickered.

Jafar cleared his throat, "That's all it is. A legend."

Thirteen pairs of eyes watched Maleficent for a reaction, but she did nothing, only watched the projected χ-blade as it rotated.

"Every legend is based on fact," she said firmly. "The χ-blade is, in fact, the reason that there has not been a Keyblade Wielder in hundreds of years."

Curious, Queen Grimhilde asked, "Are you referring to the Keyblade War?"

Shan-Yu finally drops his fur hood, his interest piqued. "What is the Keyblade War?" he asks, steady and sharp. "The χ-blade?"

Maleficent glanced at him, a patient smile lifting her mouth. "In ancient times," she began, "when the World was whole, the χ-blade and Kingdom Hearts existed together. As the heart of all worlds and an immense source of power and knowledge, Kingdom Hearts had to be protected by the χ-blade. However, the χ-blade could not protect against the people's desire for the light within Kingdom Hearts, and they crafted Keyblades based on the image of the χ-blade to claim Kingdom Hearts for their own. The resulting battle would come to be known as the Keyblade War, and every Keyblade Wielder perished in it. The χ-blade shattered, the World fell into darkness, and Kingdom Hearts disappeared with it."

She inhaled deeply, and when she exhaled, she was smiling, as if pleased with herself.

"The χ-blade broke into twenty pieces: seven of light, and thirteen of dark," she said as she looked pointedly at the thirteen antagonists inside the Chapel. "Those seven fragments of light have been reborn within the seven Princesses of Heart, but the fragments of darkness have no such vessels." She narrowed her eyes at the others.

Captain Hook slammed his left hand, the one bearing his namesake, into the circular table, bellowing, "If you expect us to sacrifice ourselves to craft the χ-blade for you--"

"Quiet!" she hissed, removing his hook from the tabletop, her mouth pulled back in a snarl. "Why would I bring you here to do that? That would be moronic! If I wanted to use your bodies as vessels of darkness, I would not gather all of you in the same room."

Hook glared at her and pursed his lips.

Smoothing out her robes, Maleficent pulled herself up to her full height. "No," she sighed, that smile curling at her lips again, "my proposition is much more... sinister."

She let the words hang in the air and lowered her voice, smiling wider as the others leaned in to listen: "We will all find a young soul, any young soul, and train them. They will call themselves our apprentices, and we will call them our vessels of darkness. They will never know their true purpose, and if they ever discover it, or if one of you lets it slip... I will handle the situation personally." Grimacing, Maleficent paused and met the eyes of each of her allies threateningly, but eventually continued with her previous smile.

"We will make them strong, train them personally, and we will bid them find the Princesses of Heart. Then we will split them into two factions and pin them against each other, using their rivalry to hurry along our search for the princesses. Finally, we will gather our seven lights and our thirteen darknesses, creating the χ-blade."

Scar mirrored her gruesome smile. "Why, they would be killed by the process."

"Precisely."

It was predominately silent in the room, until Oogie Boogie broke it to cackle, "Oooh, that is nasty~! Leffie, that sounds like a real scream, but what's in it for us?"

The other twelve readily agreed, and Maleficent tilted her head to the side.

"Anything you desire, the χ-blade can assist you with." She turned to Hades, waving her hand over the projection of the χ-blade to show Mount Olympus. "The throne of Mount Olympus could be yours, if you wield the χ-blade, the ultimate weapon, against the gods." She locked eyes with Shere Khan, whose tail flicked back and forth curiously. "The χ-blade's power could most definitely remove the human presence in your home."

All together, the other twelve grinned crookedly or let their glee shine only in their eyes. They each thought of the possibilities, of the riches, of the power, of the vengeance. Maleficent saw their agreement in their faces.

Davy Jones, however, showed doubt. The fact that he was standing in a bucket of water did not help his aggravation. "If we only need thirteen vessels, then why are there fourteen of us here?" he asked, squinting and inadvertently spitting at her.

Maleficent was not phased. "Insurance. If one of our vessels dies before we need them to, we already have a replacement on hand." The sea creature's doubt fled, and he gave his nod of approval.

They were all with her.

"You have all made a very wise decision," she said with her sweetest smile, yet it still dripped maliciousness. "We begin putting our plans into motion immediately. In a matter of years, the χ-blade will be ours, and with it, Kingdom Hearts."

Each character has a "base class" that determines their battle style, and you as the roleplayer take that class and expand on it. You get to specify what kind of mage, warrior, or rogue the character is. For example, if a character is classified as a Mage, they could be a Black Mage, White Mage, Summoner, or any other class that deals primarily with magic. If you so desire, you can choose a secondary class for your character, to make them unique from other characters of the same class. For example, you might make a basic Mage a Summoner / White Mage, or a Basic Warrior a Lancer / Paladin.

When choosing classes, please use this page as reference. For the sake of this roleplay, warriors are a slow and heavyweight class that focuses on a powerful offense, rogues are much faster but also weaker than warriors, and mages specialize with (obviously) magic. Below we've conveniently listed all the classes of our cast so you won't choose a main class that is already taken.

When you're finished with your profile, you will quote myself and Afternoon June in the OOC thread with a link to your profile. You can find codes for reserves and profiles in the joining thread.

You may apply for a second character, but only after we have accepted the reserve and profile of your first character. Your second character must be from the opposite faction, but we can reject their reserve at our discretion if the two characters are too similar.

The apprentice in trouble is usually paired with someone particularly ruthless so that they learn their lesson. Training missions are also used for "weak" apprentices or "difficult" apprentices that are helping their masters against their will.

xxxAn apprentice thought they wouldn't be caught snooping around Hollow Bastion's library, but they were wrong. As punishment, the apprentice must travel to Port Royal and board the Flying Dutchman, where they must--ick--scrub the decks of the ancient ship. They should attempt to remove the barnacles and make it as spotless as possible, especially the Captain's Quarters, without help from anyone else; the captain's apprentice will supervise. If the captain is not pleased, they should both expect a lashing.

LOCATION: Dwarf Woodlands
xxx A mess of an apprentice requires extra time in the battlefield to hone their skills and rein them in. Maleficent has decided to send them with the harsh apprentice of the Evil Queen to Dwarf Woodlands. Enemies of Queen Grimhilde have hired assassins to kill her, and Maleficent expects the two apprentices to remove the assassins from the equation.


xxxxx*☾RECONNAISSANCE
xxxxxThese missions are an investigation of a given world to see if there are any potential Princesses of Heart. For recon missions, apprentices must not engage in battle with any locals. They must stay hidden and blended in, carry out their investigation, and promptly report back with their findings. If they show themselves, they will be severely punished. Recon missions require at least two apprentices of two different classes.

REQUIREMENTS: Frollo's Apprentice & Facilier's Apprentice
LOCATION: Notre Dame
xxxFrollo has mentioned repeatedly that there's a certain gypsy woman in this world that might be a Princess of Heart, and she should be thoroughly investigated. In fact, he's also requested she be brought immediately upon her capture back to him, which he has elected not to tell Maleficent. The apprentices must explore every inch of Notre Dame, and if they sense the pure heart of a princess, they should react accordingly.

REQUIREMENTS: Scar's Apprentice, Queen Grimhilde's Apprentice & Oogie Boogie's Apprentice
LOCATION: Pride Lands
xxxScar reports that there are dozens of worthy lionesses living on Pride Rock that could be Princesses of Heart in disguise. The three apprentices should investigate his claims, and if they sense the light of a princess, they should return immediately to Hollow Bastion and report to Chernabog or Chernabog's Apprentice.

xxxxx**☾SABOTAGE
For these missions, apprentices are expected to track the movements of the rival group and interfere with their plans. They can engage their opponents in a battle to distract them from their goals, or reach their goals before them and steal their prize.

xxxAccording to Chernabog's demon spies, the Alpha faction is sending apprentices to Wonderland to attempt to recruit the Queen of Hearts. Omega faction must prevent their success at all costs, by using their own creative methods.

xxxxxThese are specific requests from a master for their own apprentice and one or more others. These missions can also be from fellow apprentices. Personal missions are usually for the benefit of the one that posted the assignment and no one else.

xxxUsing extreme caution, these apprentices should approach the court of the Queen of Hearts and humbly request her allegiance to the Alpha faction. The apprentices may carry out her requests, if need be, but they should leave at any sign of violence on her part. They can defend themselves and must also protect each other.

REQUIREMENTS: Two Apprentices of Different Classes
LOCATION: Arendelle
xxxStrap on the snow boots and bundle up, these apprentices are heading up the North Mountain to find the Snow Queen herself. Rumor has it she's a powerful witch who stole summer from the land and created an eternal winter. Convince her to join the cause, as she could be a valuable asset.

xxxxxOnce a Princess of Heart has been discovered on a given world, a new mission will be posted here for the faction(s) that know of her whereabouts to take her to Hollow Bastion. The events of the games you know and love have not happened in this universe. Original Kingdom Hearts characters, such as Sora and the Organization, do not exist. That's why all these villains are still alive, because Sora did not defeat them.

Corona is Rapunzel's kingdom from Tangled. Exotic Jungle is from The Jungle Book. Game Central Station is from Wreck-It Ralph. Great Barrier Reef is from Finding Nemo. Metroville is from The Incredibles. Moon Port is from Treasure Planet. Mystic Highlands is from Brave. Rural Countryside is a more expansive version of Beast's Castle.

They will not be in their homeworlds. Yen Sid and King Mickey have relocated them to new worlds for their own safety, once they got wind of Maleficent's plans to gather them together to create the x-blade. We'll decide if the world the characters visit hold a Princess of Heart.

Yeah.... There might, uh, be a few more...than you expect....

xxxxx*☾How will the apprentices find the Princesses of Heart?
Each faction has been given one grapefruit-sized stone for locating princesses. The leader of each faction decides what to do with the smooth, clear stone. For example, Viveka broke the stone into seven smaller pieces and gave each one to her comrades so that they have a piece wherever they go. The stone was created to react to the presence of a Princess of Heart by glowing and becoming warm the closer they are.

The stones also have the magical~*~ ability to transform everyone's appearance to fit the world.

We've tried to put a lot of thought into the selection of villains for this roleplay, and it's too difficult to switch one out for a different one. Sorry.

Roleplayers can puppet their own master as need be. If you need to puppet other masters, that's fine. Just maybe let us know in the OOC first? And don't be unreasonable.

We are! We just want a balanced roleplay. If you want to play a transgender or a hermaphrodite character or whatever you please, that's totally cool! What we don't want is for anyone to change the pre-made gender of any character for a non-narrative reason.
