You sir are an asshat. That word has long been used on here, and it needs to return.

Sir, a gun is for a scared child. If you have a gun and you want to kill someone you pull a trigger. Nuff said, no thought, no idea, no soul or input.

To kill someone with a sword, you must mean to do it, you must have the heart and the determination to drive the blade into someone and you must have the reason and purpose to follow up. If you kill with a sword, they deserved to die and you deserved to kill them. Guns can only be used for shooting stupid people like you in the foot for saying dumb things like this.

I now propose that no one else after this post to this troll, because no one can actually be this stupid.

Bullshit. Have you ever even touched a gun before? I went to the shooting range today, I shot a 9mm. I couldnt even hit the target. But you wouldent know how hard it is to shoot a gun, would you?

You didn't believe in the heart of the gun, Superkrad. Swords are simple beings; they do what they are told, as long as you sharpen them and clean them properly. A gun must be reasoned with. It must be maintained after every battle, if not every shot. It will not bind to a man with a weak grip, a weak arm, or a weak mind. It takes guts to even wield a gun; with a sword, you only need guts to win.
It takes a Knight of the Order of the Iron Shoulder to wield a WW2 bolt rifle.
I'm fucked xd

How dare you insult such a proud lineage as a sword! Swords and indeed, all bladed weapons are made for thier own use, but can indded be used for other things. A distant relative of mine made a rather intricate wood carving using only a rusty claymore! Guns can create one thing and one thing only; Death. Now tell me, which is more 'honorable'; facing a man one on one with only your wits and a extended arm of steel? or using a metal and plastic handgun that can end someones life before they even put up a fight? And for your information, your making all swords seem tarnished wheen in fact, only a small selection of swords are used for assassination purposes. As for a sword's beauty, a true swordsman sees his blade's shining steel, even when it is covered in rust or blood. Get your facts straight before you attempt to tarnish such a great and noble tool of Man!
If I didn't know you were serious, I'd laugh. Get your head out of your a**, hypocrite.

And how am I a Hypocrite?
Bolded. In addition, stupid arguments have been turned red. I know a man who makes silhouette images on copper sheets with a .22 from 20 feet. You should see his Yosemite Sam.

"[AoD2k
"]I posted here some time ago with a comment of the topic. I made my argument, used points made by Fresnel, and posed a question. I never did seem to find anyone who answered my question. So I will state my question again.

How exactly is a sword a cowardly weapon? All the points made seem to say nothing more than a sword is a less effective killing tool compared to a gun. I am having trouble drawing the connection between ineffective and cowardly. It seems by this logic a bow and arrow or even a flintlock gun could be called a cowardly weapon.

Everytime someone posts this I feel smarter. This thread is satire in response to all the "guns are for cowards" hype that sword weaboos have.
Ah, it seems I missed the satiric aspect of it. Please, indulge my ignorance in explaining how one can discern that this is in fact a satire and not a real argument. Because I feel very confident that out there, someone is truly attempting to make this argument.

The threads context itself makes it obvious satire, at least it did to me. I called the thread the day I posted in it, and I was confirmed correct. The thread was meant as a joke. If you read closely every argument it makes is a reversed version of pro-sword argument. Finally, though, Fresnel has edited post three on the front page to confirm it as a joke.
Ah, sadly these days I find it difficult to determine satire specifically based on context. As I stated before, I could probably find someone out there who would argue that a sword is a cowardly weapon. And trust me, I've heard some bad arguments that people hold as true.

But I don't remember if the third post was edited when I made my comment.
Probably not. I did that earlier this week. Too many people weren't getting it.

HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, that's funny. Really, it is.

Guns are ineffective at close range? Then why is a point blank shot the most accurate shot there is?

psh. Point blank misses every time. Didn't you know? rolleyes

Good thing this is sarcasm, otherwise I'd have to tell you that a shot that is from point-blank range is identified as being shot by no further than one meter. Also, its close enough to leave a gunpowder burn on the entry.
Sauce? I heard 100m.

100m for a point-blank shot? 1m is equal to roughly three feet. You're saying a point-blank shot is 300 ft away?

...Fres, is there something you'd like to tell us? wink

At any rate, I'll go look it up quick. I'm not entirely sure.

EDIT: Here it is.

"Article concerning Point-Blank Range
The maximum distance where the trajectory of the bullet does not exceed a predetermined amount of rise or drop, also the maximum distance a specific round can be fired and hit a given target without any compensation for bullet drop; 2. A colloquial term for a distance from the muzzle to the target of less than four feet.

http://www.midwayusa.com/guntecdictionary.exe/showterm?TermID=3768

So its roughly less than 4 feet, or about a meter.
Correction: 100 FEET.

Guess you're right, though.

Swords a best for close range, while firearms are generally not!

Ninjutsu is insanely new when it comes to sword schools and I believe they primarily use a ninju-to, which is essentially a rather short katana with a square suba (that's the handguard bit). And the only reason they use these was because some of the first ninja in films had square suba's, it's nothing special.

Also, if it's all about drawing fast I've seen wonders done in this regard with longer swords. Battōjutsu is an important part of most sword schools.

Ninjutsu also doesn't exist. Ninja didn't leave any historical evidence of any systems of combat that they used. All modern ninjutsu is plagerisms of other styles of martial arts, add in a funny suit, and that's what ninjutsu essentially is. I've never seen ninjutsu employed as an effective fighting style. Sorry, the whole art is bullshit.

I lol'd.

No really, it works. I've utilized it in a barfight :].
I just had a vision of a big burly guy busting a bottle to use as a face-grinder, and some skinny twit throws down a smoke bomb and disappears. xd

I imagined the reverse. rofl

I'll agree with you guys and call this bullshit. Also, drawing fast isn't really amazing. The only art I know that actually revolves around a quick draw is Iajutsu, and I've only ever met one person who actually studies the art since I'll be damned if you find a legit school for it.
I know of Iaidō, but that might just be the same style.
