They are statistically more aggressive, however, as a result of aggression-selective breeding. That doesn't mean all pitbulls should be murdered as some owners accuse people of saying- however, not all shotguns are used to shoot people. Some shotguns are used solely for hunting pheasants, or kept unloaded and used only as a means of intimidation. However, shotguns have the capacity to cause a lot of damange, and it is rather common for them to be used against people. As such, we have to keep the safty on. If that means muzzling your pitbull, then so be it. Actually, mixed breeds account for the most bites, followed by German Shepherds and Chow Chows. Not Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls were NEVER BRED for human aggression! Dog aggression, which they WERE bred for, is a completely different trait. Pit Bulls were specifically bred for human friendliness. Do some breed research, please. No matter how you look at it, aggression is aggression. Thinking that just because your dog is bred only to be aggressive towards animals and it is 100% safe is an accident waiting to happen. even animals that were not bred for aggression can and will attack. I had a rooster, an egg type even, that would attack my neighbors dogs and severly injure them. I raised rabbits for years, and on occasion, they would bite and claw, and one took a piece out of my brother-in-law's shoulder. That from a cute little bunny. |

Do some breed research, please. I agree that they were bred to be human friendly. even the fighters can stay in the pit with the dogs and not worry about them turning. Other breeds that fight will turn on their handlers. And according to most research, Cocker Spaniels are the #1 bite dog in the world, with more bites than all other breeds combined. The reason that pitts make it into the news is due to the circumstances and the damage. If a pitt bites someone, it is normally one bite and then they leave, unless in a pack. |
