FREE AVATAR ART FOR NEWBIES is a thread dedicated to welcoming newbies to Gaia and helping them get into the flow of things. Newbies are welcome to hang out here regularly. We will answer all your questions and reward polite newbies with free avatar art and the random item or bit of gold.

Avatar art can be very expensive. People make thousands off selling their art to those willing to pay the price, and many Gaians are. As a reward for newbies who know how to handle themselves on Gaia and contribute to the betterment of the site, artists from all over have volunteered to give free art to newbies--art that would usually cost hundreds of gold that newbies simply do not have.

I'll keep the rules simple. Please follow all the rules and play nice.
1 You MUST be a n00b. I'm leaving the definition of "newbie" up to the individual artists. wink
2 You MUST NOT PM an artist unless they say it's okay. wink
3 Become a regular. If you post on page 1450 and an artist gets on at page 1672, s/he's not gonna browse through past pages looking for newbies. You're best bet is to visit often so artists have more of a chance to see you. wink
4 No cybering and no sexually explicit material or RPing. This is a PG-13 Forum. wink
5 Follow all of Gaia's Rules and Guidelines. Click on the link and read them if you are not familiar with them. If you see anyone who is in violation of Gaia's rules, please PM either the person, or me, so that we can get the situation fixed and prevent further harm to the thread, others, and the offenders. wink
6 No spamming, no posts that stretch the page, and no excessive quoting, please. wink
Articubone Clears Things Up
Alright, I'd like to take advantage of this being the second post by telling all those newbies who didn't read/understand the first post:
The point of this thread is to talk. Not bump, not spam, not come in, say "Draw me" then leave immediately, but TALK. If an artist thinks you're worthy (ie, you've returned to this post over a few days, you try to use proper spelling, you've made friends with all the regulars) THEN we may decide to give you an artwork. In fact, there are so few newbies around, if you stay for a week and have DECENT UNDERSTANDABLE conversations, it's ALMOST a guarantee that you'll get artwork.
Get it? 3nodding

Yeah, like everyone has said before me. Ignore it. Buy what you like because you like it, not because someone else it telling you that you like it.
My only problem is ignoring what media tells me is beauty. crying I try so hard to ignore it, but it's already in my head! My heeeeeeeaaaaaadddddd! crying (It's harder to ignore if you already believe it. sweatdrop )

Thinthondiel KillerMitsuko First of all what does grammer have anything to do with being a fan?Second i agree the movies have been bad also in the second they didnt go over many IMPORTANT parts in the book.I also agree that you cant fit everything into a movie but at least get damn close!
As if you can talk about grammar... you can't even spell the world. I was just hoping that more intellectual people read the books.
You still make no sense. Just because they can't spell right, all of a sudden they are not a real fan? Like KillerMitsuko said, What does grammer (sic) have to do with being a fan?
Anyway, onto to the movie... It was okay... Meh... To be honest, when I read the book, I imagined Lupin would be more handsome. Instead, he reminded me of a frenchman (or my french teacher... Bleh...)...
One of the things I didn't like was they didn't explain the Marauders. You know, Harry's dad and his gang of friends. They just give Harry a map with all these names on it, and anyone who didn't read the book would have no clue what was going on. Fred and what's-his-face could have at least explained a bit more on where it came from instead of cramming it into Harry's hands and sending him about his way.
And the movie was lacking in the emotion I felt while reading the book. When Sirius offered to take Harry in, you know, so they could live together, I got really excited. Somehow, the book made me care very much that Harry would finally be able to get away from the Dursleys and be happy. But in the movie, the biggest impression I got was Sirius sounded like the stereotypical male having problems expressing his feelings... Meh...
I do like how they did the time thingy with Hermione and Harry. I think that went well... And Dumbldore after they did it. "It's done." "What's done...?" I really liked that part of the movie. I don't understand people complaining about Dumbledore, 'cause I think he came through.

Spiders are creepy because they are bugs. They are creepy crawlies, for lack of a better term. And yeah, some are poisonous.
Webs are compared to lies because both take a lot of work to do right. A con man spins his web of deciet: he practices the lies, makes up stories for the lies, makes them real. A spider spins a web: you described that. Both can be confusing and intricate. Very complicated creations. It's not dis on spiders, it's just a creative similarity that became very widely used.

I used to be too mature for my age. Then my mom had me talk to a phsycologist, and I've been screwed up ever since. Way too immature. Somehow, my maturity level dropped by half since I saw her, and that was back in middle school. Now I'm struggling to catch back up to where I was. So sometimes I am too immature, and too mature. Feh. I still prefer being around people who are older than me - as a sophmore I hung out with Juniors and Seniors. I don't know if that means anything, though. 3nodding

entrophia Drucilia_Iscariot One things about people is we have a dark side. It's in all of us, some more promenit then others. (I just have to say that rant, copied or not, is still funny as s**t).
One thing about the Geneva convention is it limit's military power. In time of war... NOT A GOOD IDEA! It's basic logic folks. If I'm being shot at, I'm not gonna wait for an order to shoot back. I'm just gonna blast the b*****d!! It's common sense, not moral standing!
Two words: Friendly Fire
Killing people is a hellava' lot more complicated then just shooting at each other from behind cover. Your attitude is what killed those Canadians doing arms training in Afganistan.
Please explain, 'cause I don't think she was talking about friendly fire. I think she was talking about Rules of Engagement.

I agree with all those points except the ones on pro-sports.
I've never been able to grasp the concept of the Rules of War. I mean, I understand why they're in place, for the sake of humanity and all, but... I just can't understand how you can put rules on something as chaotic as war. It's not a game. It's killing. How can you put rules on killing...? Mass killing...? Like you said, "Let's kill eachother by the rules." It makes no sense.
And I agree with what you're saying about street fighting, if it's a deathmatch. If it's just a fight, then play by the rules. There's honor in that. Or bragging rights or something. But if you're fighting for your life, pull every cheap trick in the book if you think it'll let you win.
But pro-sports, no, that's just stupid. It's a game and a career. People don't need to be purposfully injuring people and possibly ruining their careers and lives over a game/profession. That'd be like you and another guy running for top position at the office, so the other guy pushes you off the top level of the parking complex the day before of the big meeting. He gets the job and you get ruined. No, that's stupid.
However, there is one rule, about football at least, that I think needs to be done away with. This "Sportsmanship" thing is boggus. I think if the man makes a touchdown, he should be allowed to do his victory dance. Little stuff like that. It'd make the game more interesting for the fans and the players. And the guy who pulled that sharpie outta his sock and signed the football then threw it into the crowd? He shouldn't have gotten fined. Stuff like that.

and yeah if this was supposed to be satire you suck at it!
and if you thought this was good enough for ED then you suck at that as well
you just suck all around!...ahhh i see maybe your just trying to convice yourself!!!!
well if thats the case your just sad
For a second, I thought this guy was trying to reply in satire, but alas, I find I have too much faith in my fellow ED-er.
It's so depressing when they know it's a satire, but still choose to be insulted. crying
