"Max Mercury" Too often, ending a series has meant the cheap resort: "Let's kill off the character." Naturally, some time later, someone brings the character back, which means the original death was made even MORE meaningless. To name 2 characters that happened with, Moon Knight (who's probably died several times now including his origin), and Azrael (who is not back YET but I'd bet my life he will return.) Technically, the decision to not have him killed off was made before the publication of his last issue just with the precise intention of this. If he was dead and some future writer decided to revive him, it would make his death meaningless. And so the writer made the decision to have Jean-Paul just 'presumed' dead and to show an empty costume at the end. |
