 Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good Evening To all the artists, contest participants and friends who have supported them. I am pleased to announce the winners for the Once Upon A Time - Art Contest, hosted by Dark Conspiracy (the contest's creator and star Patron), Pocket Gal (second star Patron), and Sins of an Angel (thread designer, organizer and third star Patron). There were so many wonderful entries and just as wonderful artists and when we say it was VERY hard to choose, we do mean it! We wished we could have simply given a prize to all who entered but alas we can't and simply give our utmost thanks - to everyone! We thank you not only for entering, but for supporting us, loving our creations as much as our own selves, and for being all around awesome people. We thank you for coming to our little thread, for posting, bumping, chatting and being friendly faces and for being so patient when we hit our little bumps in the road. It's sad to see the contest come to a close but it's been so much fun and we were more than pleased with the turn out and with meeting so many fantastic artists! To those who will walk away with one of the many prizes we say, "Congratulations!" To those who unfortunately won't we say, "Thank you so much for your hard work and good luck in all your future endeavors!" We hope to see you all again in the future heart The winners are as follows: (With commentary by Sins!) 1st place [Zandra Ryke by Emathyst] What can I say about this piece? It's just absolutely fantastic and there is nothing, not one thing about it that I do not love. First of all, just the fact that this piece shows off the tattoo sends me reeling. Not just the fact it's there but that the artist interpreted it from description alone. Her face is also amazing, her features are neither overly feminine and nor are they boyish which is exactly how she should be. I'm really digging the outfit and the 'caught undressing' pose and the hair is just plain awesome. Thank you Em! Second place [Izette Prechtl by Chama-tan] This is just crazy amazing, and I LOVE the blood. It's like, you have no idea why she's all bloodied up but then again, it's Izzy and she needs no reasons. The outfit is just plain rad, I mean, c'mon it's got spikes down the shoulders and a bow on the front. With a skull. How much more badass can you get? The hair is also amazing with how it's sort of poofy but wild, almost as if no one is sure whether she did it that way on purpose or if she simply rolled out of bed and left it that way! Thank you Chama! 3rd Place [Katie Gostik by Elsiane] When I first saw this, I was absolutely in awe. It's gorgeous. Flat out gorgeous. I'm not usually a big fan of headshots but it's downright beautiful. I'm in love with the hair especially because it's both real and surreal, and there is so much movement in the way it's flowing and waving. The braids are gorgeous, so ridiculously detailed it's crazy. Her face is strong but not harsh, it's also very beautiful very full and shows a very womanly Katie. Thank you Elsi! ----------------------------- Best Moose [Luarwulf] This is absolutely adorable! I have to say, her expression all aloof and taken by surprise is so cute. Her leave and bush clothing is awesome, and I love the little leaf stamps in the background! XD Thank you Luarwulf! Best Katie [Kaitou Dai-sama] I love barbarian Katie! She's badass and a total hottie at the same time! I was very excited to see this one actually give her a more muscular build, or a very good attempt at capturing the strong and built amazon that she is but without making her look harsh or bulky. I think I love this for it's simplicity too. Sometimes, simple is fantastic! Thank you Kaitou! --- Best Rasilyn [Althea-Mirage] I was squeeing for a good ten minutes when you submitted this piece! XD Literally. I absolutely 100% love it. I adored her outfit first and foremost, you took an outfit that has been drawn several ways by several artists and added your own little spin on it and I'm in love. There's a lot of movement in the piece which I love, but the overall theme of the Tarot cards is so awesome, and the title you gave it on DA "Walk my path" couldn't be more perfect. One of the best things about this piece however was your use of real imagery and how you blended it with the rest of the CG'ed stuff. The bear was such a cute touch, I never thought of giving her stuffed animals but now you've got me thinking! XD Thank you Althea! Best Raien [_Okami_] I love every single part of this piece. Not only does it capture the character, her spirt and personality but the whole thing is just gorgeous. :3 the detail is fantastic, I love the outfit, the jewelry, the face and especially the eyes which are so expressive. I've made this outfit a staple in her wardrobe now. XD How's that for inspiration? Thank you Okami! Best Ryke [Tahrillo] I love the style, it's grungey, simplistic in the details, it has this silhouette kinda thing going for it, like a silhoutte through a dirty window. It has a rough, edgey kind of feel and it's very stylized, unique and totally works for the character. I absolutely love the perspective, as we see her from behind and looking somewhat over her shoulder. It reminds me of comics or a stylized introduction to an action film. I love it. biggrin Thank you Tahrillo! Best Madison [Tahrillo] This piece is really really cool. That background is so crazy, I swear it's moving but I know that it's not! XD It's chaotic and yet here we have Madi at the very center of the chaos all calm and confident like there's some epic showdown going on and she just arrived with style! Her outfit is totally hot too. :3 Thank you Tahrillo! Best Izette [TheAmberShrew] First off - HELLZYES flying monkeys! HAHA! This had to be the coolest concept, and not only Izzy as Dorothy funny to begin with but riding a flying monkey just killed me. It's amazing, and the piece itself is done in such an awesome style it sorta reminds me of something you might see in a or TV show when a scene is captured and illustrated and the camera freezes on it and the movie ends. It's epic. What can I say? Thank you AmberShrew! ----- Best Music Piece [Madison x Rasilyn chilling at the grand - by Honeycombcakes] I adore this piece so very very much because not only has the artist captured the characters likenesses so very well, but their personalities and their styles. It's innocent and happy, and the coloring style really works because of the childlike innocence being portrayed in this piece. Their outfits are lovely, I have a big soft spot for pretty dresses and I love the piano. XD Thank you Honeycomb! Best Chibi [iRockAnime707 - Madison and the poo] This was so hard, I loved every single one of the chibis but we finally came to this. While very simple, this has to be one of the cutest chibis I've ever seen. It's too adorable, I can hardly stand it. XD The poo was ridiculously cute of an idea and the little question marks and puzzled expression really make this so much more. Thank you iRock! Best Elegant Piece [gothicMana9 - Rasilyn] First off - watercolors are fantastically beautiful and I have a very large soft spot for them. This piece is no exception, it is just plain gorgeous and the face is so expressive, the clothing is so elegant so delicate and I love it. You've captured the very elegant and often times lady like side of Rasilyn when she's not being a cute little girl. XD Thank you gothicMana! Best Non-Romantic Couple [ragingtofu - Everyone at the hot springs] EPIC WIN lol. No really, this is soo awesome and just the sheer fact you fit in every single character (and Reggie xD) into this one piece, brought them all together amazingly well even if some of them would never ever meet, the concept is just so much fun and I love all the different bathing suit styles and how pretty much each character is doing something different from relaxing, chatting, and why does it look like Rai and Reggie are having a stare-down? LOL. Love it. ;D You put so much hard work into this piece, and the little extra details like the touches of color - so awesome. Thank you Rage! Best Romantic Couple [TheMesaMule/Luarwulf - Izzy x Noah] We were was so torn on this category, we really were, but we settled on this. This is so awesome and it totally suits these two. It's a simple pose but it's great and it works really well for them - I'm so psyched how Noah turned out for only having an avatar and one ref to go on. That tatoo is so badass and I love it. This is such a fun couple if not a little goofy - I'm glad someone attempted it! <3 Thank you Luarwulf/TheMesaMule (btw dear which account do you want me to send the prizes?) Best Childhood Piece [Elsiane - Madison] Soooo awesome. It's almost chilling in a way, with Madison's expression as she looks back while running desperately. The state of her appearance - messy - blood on her face - the movement of her clothing and hair. Little things like that really make a piece amazing. I love how the background is undiscernable and it gives the piece this dream or nightmare like feel to it - like a movie where it gets really suspensful and all the focus is on the character while the background is blurred out. Great piece! Thank you Elsi! Best horror piece [kiimcakes - Rasilyn] This is ridiculously cute and kind of creepy at the same time. Perfect for a horror piece really, it takes a sweet, very very innocent and almost harmless character and puts her in a strange picture. The pouty face really makes me squee as does the little skully clip. XD Thank you Kiimcakes! Best Fairytale Piece [Joliesa - Rasilyn as Sleeping Beauty] Yet another difficult category! This is so beautiful - I not only love the color scheme of blue and white, very innocent and pure colors which work really well for this character. Her face is so delicate, so pretty and I love it. It's almost blissful. :3 it's gorgeous and I absolutely love it! Thank you Joliesa! Best Outfit Design [princessbunny99 - Moose] I have to say the whole piece is absolutely 100% adorable, and my favorite part of the whole piece are the pink ribbons in her antlers. It's just so cute and very creative, especially for a Moose girl. XD Who would have thought to put her in something so ... sweet. Thank you princess! Sexiest Piece [Wings of a Fallen Angel - Madison] I was excited about this one! This is too cute, it's hawt and yet innocent. I love the boots cast aside and the bare foot dangling down. I think the pose is totally sexy and her lack of um pants? XD Adds some spice to this - it shows off skin and a whole lotta leg but in a tasteful way. The expression is great, it's like, mischevious, innocent and tempting all in one. Very sexy indeed! Thank you Wings! Best Action Piece [TheAmberShrew - Katie] I liked Tinkerbell a little before now, and I love Katie but this puts things in a different perspective and I love it. XD It's particularly violent but it's awesome and definitely qualifies as "action". Thank you AmberShrew! Most Comedic Piece [ragingtofu - Ryke x Madi in Wonderland] Definitely the funniest. I mean honestly, what's not to love? XD I still crack up every time I look at it. The fact it's in manga style is even more awesome and really makes this a creative and very unique piece. Plus the concept is ridiculously funny. And Rage art = epic win. 8D Thank you Rage! Best Traditional piece [Lucind Varhetel - Madison at the tea party] This piece is so chalk full of detail and shading and just really demonstrates how amazing just pencils and paper can be! I love the concept behind it, it's really cute and it's a fun picture. x3 All the little extra characters are awesome, but Madison is really fantastic and I love her ears! Thank you Lu! Best CG Piece [~.Sugar Nuggets.~] This was VERY hard to choose but we had to settle on one picture and we chose this one. It's beautiful! The colors are so soft and dream-like, it's peaceful and reminds me of winter just as it's ending when all the flora that survived the harsh cold poke out from beneath all the snow. Moose's face is so delicate and her pose is elegant. It's a beautiful piece! Thank you Sugar! Best Background [silversaturday - Moose] I love this one! The trees are really great and as much as I (personally) don't like cherries (I'm weird I know! D: ) I want to pick them off the branches and eat them! I love how this has a spring time feel to it and the vivid red of the cherries and mushroom tops really stand out. The whole piece has depth to it and it pulls you in, makes you a part of the image and that's what makes this one so awesome. :3 Thank you Silver! --- Annnd there you have it everyone, the winners. Again we all extend our thanks to all of the artists and wish we could have awarded prizes to everyone just for being such great sports and for being so enthusiastic and for supporting us and your fellow artists!
