The scum of Gaia Online. Go to post 173 Gaia Community Discussion Thu Sep 04, 2008 10:05 pm
I've dealt with my fair share of psychotic, obsessive, blind-sighted ignoramuses on GAIA Online. I've had people threaten to hack my account, talk crap about me to my friends, and just go out of their way to make my life miserable. In the end, I managed to live through it and retained my time on this site without much sway in my disposition towards its people or policies. While I didn't particularly enjoy going through those experiences, I didn't see them as a means to hate the site.

Why? Because I've dealt with that s**t most everywhere else in the online world. These people are part of society until they are otherwise reprimanded for their actions, whether it's an online ban from the site or a 10 year sentence in prison. Chances are, some people in this very thread are probably some psychotic bastards. Who knows? It's always a possibility.

Basically put, there are deviants everywhere, not just on here.

You kids and your new con-fangled features and your pretty colors! Why, back in my day, we didn't have none of this fancy smancy storyline or none of these pretty poses! And we liked it! WE LOVED IT!

Back in the day, we had to manually imput a different server name into the address bar and then wait FIFTEEN MINUTES for the page to load, just so we could make one paragraph of posting about the roleplay we were in. And we liked it. WE LOVED IT!

Back in my day, we didn't have all these items in one gussied up icon. We spend our entire savings on one item that took us FIFTEEN DAYS worth of posting to get! And you think we had all these pretty and fancy poses all hipping and hopping around? No siree! We kept our arms to our sides and our mouths shut. And we liked it. WE LOVED IT!

You think you're so slick with your smooth site and all your games, huh? Back in my day, the site went down every FIFTEEN minutes for maintenance that lasted FIFTEEN hours. Oh and we treasures that time, yes sir! We liked it. WE LOVED IT!

You wipper snappers ain't got no idea how good you have it. Now git off my lawn!

I never really ask for gifts so I never expect others to receive gratitude for when I did. Not sure why but I've always has issues with charity in the past, both in receiving and giving; I always feel like I should owe some one something when they give me something. C'est la vie.

Personally, I don't care when people put that stuff in their signatures. Generally, it's just some person I've never heard about nor will I ever hear about.
Make the age limit on Gaia higher!!!!!! Go to post 77 Gaia Community Discussion Fri Aug 08, 2008 11:17 am
The reason why users are required to be over the age of 13 on GAIA Online isn't based upon maturity levels. In fact, it has nothing at all to do with how mature a person may be. What does count for the age limits is federals laws, primarily derived from the COPPA's restrictions. If GAIA Online allowed users under the age of 13 upon the site, it would have to be much more strict about it's information sharing rules. Since this is a major hassle that just about anyone with half a brain would want to avoid, the age restriction was placed at 13.

For more information on COPPA, check out the wiki page for it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COPPA

"Coffy"
I get threads moved every other day. xd I enjoy it now, seeing what topic of mine they've moved this time, usually a day late.

If anything, it's a way to determine how far behind the staff is on reports.
But...that means the items still evolve right? Go to post 24 Gaia Community Discussion Fri Aug 08, 2008 2:14 am
"OMG ITS TEH FLAMETHROWER"

Tell me something. If Gaia did have the EIs ready to be released, why would they delay the report? It's pointless, specially since Gaia would lose money doing such thing.
I blame the new release date of the MCs.

Perhaps all the artwork for the Avatars connected to the report are not complete? Perhaps they decided to revamp some of the items or to push in a few late-bloomers into the light for the sake of a bigger report? Perhaps the specific person who writes the reports - yes, they do have people who do that - is sick or on vacation?

Various hidden factors go into mind when announcements are made; not all of which are meant to be clear to the public.
