“My son, Prince ___, I am dying and will not last long.” The senile old male wheezed out the words as the young boy rushed towards him. The man’s crimson eyes were dimming, the life dying.
“Father please don’t speak, the healer says you don’t have long to live,” worry for the kingdom sat on the young sidhe’s face.
“No my son I must tell you this now before its too late; there is something I have hidden something from you for the past seventeen years after your mother’s death.” He grasped the boy’s hand as he came to him clutching him close looking him in the eyes.
“I was on a quest for my hand of power and when I returned you’d said she’d died from sickness. I vowed never to leave the kingdom again after that.” Prince ___ nodded as he watched his father’s weary eyes.
“Yes, but what you do not know is that she died not because of sickness but because of pregnancy. In those three centuries you’d been gone your mother got with child. She’d been ready to give birth to it when she died in the process.”
The Prince’s eyes widen but he stayed silent, there must have been a reason for his father to lie because the sidhe do not lie and his father lied no matter how you put it. Sickness and labor were nothing alike.
“I was so furious with your sibling at the time. It was terrible for the Queen to have died giving birth to that Princess. I felt cheated even with her eyes the color of coal and hair the color of purple she was nothing of ours. I felt cheated from my Queen and child. I sent the child away never speaking of it so most that knew the Queen had been pregnant merely assumed the child died with her.”
“Why? Why tell me the truth now father? I mean you’ve hid it from the entire kingdom I hardly believe anyone will believe that she is my sister.” He shook his head skeptically sitting back in the chair that had been brought up close for him to sit near his father.
“Because there is evil in the court and you must have your sister at your side. I have left her with Gran your dear Brownie grandmother. Your mother did do one thing before she died. She embedded the family crest into your sister’s belly button so that it will shine to any other family crest.” His father held up the silver Celtic crest. It was like two inner circles with an outer circle as the band and a thin silver chain holding it together.
“So you want me to get her…” Prince ___ said this rather monotone like for he knew it wouldn’t be as simple as picking up the girl from Gran and the coming back to the castle.
“Yes, you must keep her safe and all cost and let the child she bares in the future prosper in the world. Don’t allow her child to be banished out as I did her. I regret everyday that I tossed my own child from my court.”
Prince ___ sighed heavily standing up and clasping his father’s hand and bestowing a kiss upon it. “On your death bed father I swear an oath to retrieve the young heir to the throne and make sure that they become with child and that their child has a bright future within the Dark Court on the Goddess Danu.” He raised his eyes to meet his father’s to make sure he understood the deep bounding oath he’d made.
The King smiled at his son and with that gave a shaky last breath before completely fading. His body faded into the sheets and the Prince turned around and opened the door to the bedroom where the advisers and guards waited outside.
“W-what did he say? I honestly don’t think that he-” One of the advisers, a small winged demi-fey begun smarting off before he was cut off by the Prince.
“Well I don’t care what you think for I am now ruler. My father has passed and it is I who will sit on the throne. I have a sister that he wishes me to retrieve from just before my mother’s death.”
