Heck yeah I still buy manga! heart
I have quite a collection now, and often buy in bundle to save money. Sure, I don't have as much as some people do, but whatever. Saying that however I do read scanlations online, but mostly it's only manga that hasn't been released outside of Japan, or those manga's that have been discontinued within the US and there's no hope of it coming over to the UK without costing nearly £60 - £200 [ and yes, there is some mangas that cost that much ]. I collect mostly older series now, and try to look for hidden gems from the 70's or 80's. It's hard, but sometimes you can find little rarieties in chairty shops, or the local comic book store.
For a while now, I've been thinking of trying to get the Sailor Moon manga's, however it's the price for the American version. It's ridiclious, and - as much as I wish, I doubt I'll see it coming out again over here for a long time. However, I have considered getting Japanese RAW manga's on import. Sure, you can't read them - but your still supporting the mangaka who wrote it. Sure, I can read scans online - but thats still nothing like owning it.
Anyway, I don't like spending ages in front of a computer reading a manga, my eyes start to hurt alot lmao :]
Those of you saying it costs too much & you don't have jobs - help out around the house to get more pocket money. Sell older pocessions that maybe don't mean as much to you anymore as they did when you were 5 years old. For all you know, you could have a little gem from childhood that's worth a £100 - £200, which could buy you some new mangas [and new shelving!!] quite nicely :3 Buy in bunch, not in singular. You see a 3 for 2 deal, take it. You see money off shipment with orders when you spend more and you have the money to spend, do it. It helps :] That way, you always have the manga to come back to and enjoy later on ; ) [and your internet download limit /bandwidth limit stays healthy too :3 ] And look around in other shops where they might be hidden, you'll never know what gems you'll find : D
