Thank you for posting this. It echoes alot of what I'm thinking.
If Gaia does survive this move, and there is pervasive deflation, then the gold I have now will be alot more valuable in the future. I'm not extremely rich, but I'm doing okay for a three months newbie...and I'm patient enough to sit back and accumulate gold, not sell anything in marketplace, and post my avatar's pixelated little heart out. This is a game, and the players will play and play it well regardless of whatever moves are made to placate those who don't believe in earning their points. |

Well, good luck, and have a great event.
I'm just happy that there are still men willing to put on tight clothes, sweat, and grapple in public for us ladies. There's something hot and primal about male physical and psychological competition. So thank you and all your fellow wrestlers for nurturing that spirit of wildness that civilization can't restrain. smile |

I can get my brain about other old people doing it.
I just can't picture my old people doing it. I caught my parents doing something together naked once, but my mind refuses to think they were actually having sex. Maybe my mom was getting dressed, slipped onto the bed, and then accidentally kicked my dad, so he fell on top of her. Yeah, that's what happenned. burning_eyes |

Arekux MaesterSquee Does she know how you feel? That might help with the whole appreciation deal. Of course she ******** knows how i feel, i don't think all of it but ********. I met her this summer, i met her and we have talked for the longest times, on the phone from 11 to 6 am and we just were so cool. But you know what..? She doesn't know how to appreciate. She thinks these are just the ''whatever, i don't give a ********'' years. I wish i could be as strong as her with those feelings, really i do. I actually wish i was rather more of a jerk than a considerate bad boy. But that's just the way i was raised, I've never cheated on anyone, i'm not a clingy or pushy guy either. Not like those little nice guys that are like annoying and boring crap. But this is the one girl who changed my whole way of thinking... You don't love her. It is just an obsession. You know she's not good enough for you. You've said yourself that she doesn't appreciate people. Why would you want to waste emotion on someone with the empathy of cat poop? I think you need to examine why you have so much affection for someone who is obviously stupid. Maybe you're the one with the problem of liking female jerks, while she's just going with guys who are just like her. Like goes to like. So the question isn't why she's chasing jerks. That's obvious. The question here is why are YOU chasing jerks? |

People like bondage/bdsm for various reasons. Even though I'm considered kind of a veteran in it, I'm not the "I'm okay you're okay" type. Some folks are into it for healthy reasons, and some folks are just plain sick.
The line is somewhat relative, but basically it's at the level of (informed) consent. It's nice to fantasize about non consensual activities, but if you're at the point of manipulating situations to provoke non consensual violence or putting yourself in severe danger, then you're crossing the line. There is nothing wrong with consenting adults having fun how they like, but be mindful that both sex and BDSM require that you be able to trust each other with your lives. If either of you doesn't understand the gravity of this, then you shouldn't be engaging in that kind of activity. ...but BDSM requires a degree of trust that even conventional sex doesn't. In a "normal" situation, both people would maintain some level of physical power, but in a BDSM situation, one has the physical power, and the other has to have the psychological power to handle someone else having all the physical power. So it's deeper...the feelings can be alot more intense. As much as some people may like it to be so, there really isn't such a thing as "casual" BDSM. It's serious even if it's short term. So as a sub or bottom who's starting out, I suggest that you think alot about your motivations...whether they come from enjoying giving someone else control, or from needing someone else to be in control in order to somehow not feel guilty about sex or something. It's good that you're asking this question, but nobody can answer that for you but you. |

Phrynia Kthulah Phrynia Kthulah Phrynia People are really overreacting and acting like a bunch of children about this. People need to put down the torches and pitchforks, clear out the dollar signs from their eyes, and understand why this is being done. There is too much gold in the system, thus inflation. There is too much hoarding, thus inflation. There are VERY few places for gold to permanently leave the economy, all we really have are shops and tokens, and most people buy secondhand from the marketplace, so thus we have another way to permanently remove excess gold. Gaia doesnt give a flying s**t how much you sell your items for. Gaia doesn't care if you charge 5% more on all your items. Gaia cares that there is a completely disproportionate amount of gold entering the system vs. leaving the system. This is something that ******** up economies beyond repair. You can't stop it completely, but you can slow it down. And this is one way they are choosing to do so. Don't like it? Sell exclusively on the exchange and don't use the marketplace. Somehow we all lived without it before. What you and others are failing to understand is that monthly collectibles and the items spawned from them were bought with real actual money. Would you like to lose the equivalent of $2.50 every time you sell an expensive item? Just what percentage of the $2.50 do you think it's fair to lose just because you decide to sell it so that some kids who don't have credit cards can have a chance to get them? The people who are suffering most from this are the people who actually paid money to build this site up before it got sponsored. Basically what Gaia is telling us is, "******** you, we have enough customers." I could care less, its a game. I've been on gaia since October 2003. I bought 15 letters each month and sold them, one per person at fair prices for those who couldnt buy their own until I quit 2 years ago and gave it all away. If you want to blame anyone, blame the kids who grabbed dad's credit card and bought 300 donation letters every month and hoarded them like hell for riches in an internet game, the kids who made 27 mules to hoard special event items that were supposed to be for fun, and the general aura of greed that has infected gaia in recent years and made each and every gold piece you earn that much more worthless due to the dollar signs in people's eyes flooding the system with items. Its the same phenomenon that occurs with MMORPG gold buyers. Keep your head up. It *is* a game, and it takes some creativity and hustle to play. Whenever you have a virtual community with any paid options, the people with money will simply have more options...but this is part of what makes the fun. You have to be able to compete with people who have more money than you and here, will make more gold in a day than your or my avatar will see in its pixelated lifetime. That's business, babe...but I do understand that this is easy for me to say. I deal with this kind of crap in real life in the Israeli economy, which is like being a dove in a cat farm. Sometimes the wings do get tired... But the bright side is that you don't lose anything from other people having more. The problem I have is with someone taking away what we do have, and doing nothing with it. Our 2% is not going to improve anything. It's just a gold sink. If they were to like open their minds and allow some member input on the matter, I'm sure everyone in this thread could think of five or six neat things people could do to throw away gold instead of taxing the marketplace. Eh? It doesnt bother me at all. Gaia is the only online game I have ever played that didnt have some sort of listing fee to use their auctioning system. But really, I can't feel much sympathy for hoarders and price gougers complaining about such a small tax, when their buying and selling habits helped make the economy what it is today. Nothing is being taken from them. If anything, they took from themselves - by hoarding to such obscene extents that each individual gold piece is worth half of what it used to be. And to be frank, the only thing that bothers me is the disgusting sense of entitlement some people have towards gaia and its creators and the childish attitudes they have over something so ridiculous as a 2% tax. Gaia is free to play. You don't have to pay a penny if you don't need to. Gaia owes you nothing. Even donation letters are an act of generosity on their part. Buying donation letters 3 years ago doesnt make you a better member than the person who bought one yesterday. In fact, the only people who I can really say I feel sympathy for this "OMG BUT I DONATED" martyr act are the people who donated to gaia before they even knew they could get something out of it. Gold sinks need to exist in an economy like this, or eventually the economy becomes completely hostile and unattainable to new users, and the value of each gold piece become continously more valueless until it means absolutely nothing. This is all voluntary. You dont have to pay any tax if you dont want to. I bought and sold on Gaia long before the marketplace ever existed and did extremely well for myself. The exchange is still an option if you don't want to pay the taxes. Its not being forced upon anyone. And contrary to popular belief, the exchange was far from a cesspool when it was the only place available to sell your items. The exchange takes a bit more work on the part of the seller to make a sale, but you pay for conveniences, right? So...if the other chess leagues make you stick the pieces in your butt before you sell them in the southeast corner, you'll be happy that you only need to shove them up your nose? It's not about the gold. It's about the principle. It's about changing the rules in the middle of the game. Do you not see how this would break trust? Is trust okay to break just because it doesn't cost you money? Would you give money to a cab driver who decided that to get where you're going, you have to touch his tongue or something basically harmless but weird? Yeah sure, if we don't like it, we can leave...but why not try to do something about it first? The choices aren't always to either conform or leave. That's sheeple talk, and you should know better. pirate |
