All these kids whining about wearing an uniform really need to realize that there are more important things to be worrying about. Seriously, wearing a uniform won't turn your entire school into a model of Brave New World. You won't be a "mindless clone" nor will your creativity be completely hindered.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

But there really isn't anything else more important to worry about.

I think that you are whining like a child. I would LOVE to have uniforms at my school - I think they are VERY nice looking. I have rarely seen a uniform I dont like. There is plenty of time for wearing other clothes outside of school, I am a teenager therefore I know. If you think it cuts of other people creativity, then fine. But I agree that if your creativity is limited to your school clothes then you are a very stilted person. Obviously no one can change your mind - thats the beauty of opinions. But it takes a better person to look for the good in things. You are being a worser person for your pessimism.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Well, barely anyone else thinks that way. If you like them so much, go buy clothes that looks similar to uniforms. That way you're happy, and everyone else is happy. Instead of saying that you'd want us to suffer.

The entire point of going to school is to be social. I don't want to hang out with my friends looking like a flashback from the 50's. I'm not being pessimistic, I'm just stating the truth. I'd be optimistic if I could find one good thing having to do with school uniforms.

You can't think of any "pros" because you are so caught up in what you look like that you probably spend more time picking out your clothes than I do showering, getting dressed, eating breakfast, wait, are you still trying to decide what shirt you need to wear with those pants?, getting my schoolbooks together...

Uniforms may make everyone "look" the same, but why does it matter what you wear to school?

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I don't spend much time picking out my clothes, actually. I get up, shower, get dressed, do my hair, do my makeup, go to school. It takes me maybe five-ten minutes picking out my clothes. I care because I like looking good. Not looking crappy.

As I said before, the entire point of many people going to school is to hang out with friends and be social.

i hate school uniforms the school issues them to try to make every one the same its like a school of robots ******** uniforms theres no individuality in that evil
Eh, close enough

Individuality should not only be expressed in your clothes. Perhaps you could wear some accessories. Maybe take an art class. Maybe not spouting the same bullshit that everyone does about uniforms turning people into robots.

Because I'll never be a terrorist

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Oh, wow. Art class must be so much fun. rolleyes And there is no possible accessory that could look halfway decent compared to the hideous uniforms.

Personally I wish I had school uniforms. I mean sure everyone looks the same but that's where accessories come into the mix. If you have school uniforms it gives everyone a chance to stop judging people based on how they dress. It keeps you from worrying about what you're going to wear and you don't have worry.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

But a lot of people don't worry at all. Infact, some people enjoy picking out outfits. Why deprive them of that? And if they don't judge them on how they dress, people will find other ways to judge them and we'll be right back where we started.

Most people seek to change others' views. You're looking for an actual outcome, though.

Personally, I feel there are a great many things I can change.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

No, I'm not looking for an actual outcome. I'm looking to somehow change people's insane views on this.

I'm hoping that wont really happen. We'll be walking around like zombies with ten instead of six hours a day of school by the time you're through with us.

No option?

Then shut up. It's not like you can change anything.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Well maybe if schoolboards realize how much of an a** they're making of themselves, things will change.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

We are not the school board.

Write to -them-.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I never said that you were.

The entire point of this forum is a debate. Why does anyone bother posting, according to you? Nobody here can really change anything that they post about. So, according to your logic, they shouldn't bother posting at all.

Yet, you still haven't listed one good thing about uniforms. If people can think of so many cons, why keep them?

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

i. They limit the extent of social cliques and the subsequent bullying.

ii. They instil a sense of collegiate pride and tradition, and at any rather you'd look stupid shambling into Chapel dressed like a damned preppie, or goth, or whatever else.

iii. They make life simpler for students who may not always have sufficient funds at home to keep up with current trends.

iv. They make it easier to keep track of students and non-students, and thus help protect the school grounds from unathorised outside youths.

v. They look smart and help to get students used to holding themselves to the levels of personal dress and grooming needed in any modern and professional workplace.

vi. They prevent students defining themselves by their clothing, and encourage more productive, cretive and intelligent forms of self-expression.

Six is more than none, right?

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

i. Where will the world be without cliques?
ii. People who dress like a preppie, goth, ect. enjoy dressing like that.
iii. You don't need to have an Abercrombie sign written across your chest to fit in. I know plenty of people who shop at Wal-mart and Target who fit in better than I do. Its because they pick the right things to buy there. Its all about making yourself look good with what you have and having a good attitude.
iv. Thats really worth tormenting students?
v. We don't want to look smart. And we really don't give two shits about what will happen at work. We're teenagers.
vi. But there are so many people who don't want to express themselves in any other was. Uniforms can't force them to do that. All its going to do is make them dread school even more than normally. If I hate painting now, and I get a uniform, I won't suddenly like painting.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

i More varied and creative.

ii. Don't ******** care.

iii. Not ******** relevant.

iv. Not torment, except for un-creative types with no sense of perspective. And they should'nt be in a good school anyway.

v. No. -You- don't. Frankly, I don't see that you matter much. Tell me, are your parents wealthy?

vi. Then there are a lot more stupid people than I realised. Frankly, ******** 'em. I don't care.

Look back, my dear. You are repeating exactly the same dogma that we've all proven to be totally groundless.

At the end of the day, you have no reason to object other than "it's not to your taste", if if you're stupid enough to let that get between you and filling your brain with more intelligent things than currently fill it, then fine. Quit school. I can almost guarantee that you will not be missed.

Ok?

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Exactly. Thats the entire ******** point I've been trying to tell you.
There really is no point at all in making us dress in something that isn't to our tastes. No point at all. It doesn't make us smarter, it doesn't make us more responsible.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

It won't enlarge your brain, but it will be good for you, and will certainly do you no harm, and as such it is monumentally stupid to be so opposed to it as you are.

As I said - if you care that much, quit school.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

It won't be good for me whatsoever. All it does to most teenagers is aggrivate them. Is that really uniforms goal?
And I don't really have that option at my age.
