OP--you are why people whine about how stupid and annoying teenage girls are. You've contradicted yourself multiple times in your own arguments. You don't care about your education, or give a damn what you do with your life; as long as it's social and fun. You say you don't care about work, or your future, as long as you get to dress how you want, hang out with your friends, and have fun. How are you going to pay for that when you become a legal adult and have to support yourself? If you don't bother to educate yourself you're not going to have any marketable skills. Nowhere "fun" will hire you--only menial entry-level jobs will even give you a chance. Think burger-flipping, house cleaning, manning a cash register, busing tables. Almost all of those jobs require you to wear a (often unflattering) uniform; and they require you to work instead of socialize. Since they take even more time out of your day than school, you will be left with far less social time.

I think it's about time you woke up and smelled the coffee, OP. Your parents aren't going to take care of you forever. School isn't all about socializing, it's about education--whether you're "into the whole education thing" or not. And what you wear is nowhere near the most important thing in your life.

Also--I agree with Schottenjaeger. Since uniforms remove clothing identifiers, they force you to actually talk to people to discover their basic interests

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Well, either way, I'm not concerned about that right now. Because I have a life.

And nobody wants to walk up to some random person to find out that they are the exact person you'd usually never be friends with. You can know who shares your interests by the way they dress. Like it or not, its a fact. You don't dress preppy and like screamo and skateboard. Its just the way things go.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Um, actually, you can. I've met people who did. My boyfriend wears button-up shirts and nice pants, and listens to extremely heavy metal. I often wear geeky T-shirts or metal band T-shirts, and I listen to a lot of jazz and celtic music, besides heavy metal. What you dress like is only an indicator of one facet of your personality.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I'm talking about the majority of people. I wouldn't really want to be hanging out with someone who likes to dress a different style than me, so if I befriend them in school then find out that they dress different, it will completely alter my opinion of them. Thats why we shouldn't have uniforms, so we don't go making friends with people that we will regret making friends with.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

I'm sorry, but you are not the majority of people. You have yet to prove to us that the majority of people feel as you do, as you state.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Go into any high school and ask random people about it. I guarantee you they'll agree with me.

Personally, I wouldn't mind school uniforms. They keep peace, kind of. Too many people at my school were being sent home due to dress code violations and what not.

The only thing I have a problem with is the skirts. No, not that they're skirts for the sake of skirts, I have a problem with their length sometimes. I believe they should go down to a little below or above the knee. Not this half-way up/down your thigh nonsense. Really, it's there to -cover- things, not draw attention to them.

Other than that, I have no problem. I'd wear them if my school/college suddenly switched, so long as it didn't cost me money really.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Most uniforms I've seen go inches past your knee. And I'd rather them MUCH higher. They aren't made to cover, they're made to look good. But the people who design school clothes apparently don't care much about making them look good xD.

All these kids whining about wearing an uniform really need to realize that there are more important things to be worrying about. Seriously, wearing a uniform won't turn your entire school into a model of Brave New World. You won't be a "mindless clone" nor will your creativity be completely hindered.

But there really isn't anything else more important to worry about.

What about your school work? College? Hmm...? Anyways, it's rather sad if all you have to worry about is what to wear...

No, it means I'm a normal teenager who isn't really concerned where I'll be in ten years. I'll figure that out then.

Really? What grade are you in/how old are you?
Cause most teenagers are already thinking about what they want to do with their lives, what their interests are, and are planning for college funds and the like where I live. (Pennsylvania, USA.) This is 8-12th grades I'm talking about, so 13-18 years old, in other words, TEENAGERS.

Not one kid complains about my dress code/uniforms. Why? Because we've gotten over it. We realize there's more to school, indeed, more to life, than what you have to wear to a place you don't like going anyway. I don't like going to work, but I do. I wear a uniform there as well. (Granted a hell of a lot less strict, but I'm a dishwasher, so...) As I said before, even following my school's dress code/uniform policy, I still manage to look pretty damn good nearly every day, unless I'm being a lazy slob that day which happens.

Now, my school's uniform policy isn't the strictest, but it is fairly up there. We've got to wear our school colors. Shirts have to be either polos or button ups with the collar, except on Fridays, when school spirit shirts are allowed. The polos/button-ups must be either white, gold, or navy blue. Pants must be all-cotton khakis in either beige or navy blue. Shorts must be either beige or navy blue and cannot have side pockets (no cargo shorts). All jackets/hoodies must be taken off before the start of the first class and put in your locker. Sweaters have to have the uniform shirt collar showing underneath them and be either of the three colors. Most of the time, we all look "the same"; the halls are a mass of white, blue, and gold, with the occasional teacher and their off color shirt thrown in. Does that mean we're not "creative"? Not at all. Some of the most creative kids I've ever known have walked these halls and worn these guideline clothes. Songwriters, artists, novelists; kids that come up with some really good s**t. (I'll even go the egotist route again and toss myself in there.)
So saying school uniforms always prohibit creativity is bullshit. Hence, stop.

As to, you'll "figure it out then"; when? When you're 23-28 and haven't been through college yet? No, you won't.

As to, "There really isn't anything else more important to worry about." ...what? There's nothing more important than your clothing? Are you serious?
In that case, I suggest you find something more important. Join an extracurricular activity, a club, a sport. Do some volunteer work. Do some ANY kind of work. Write, paint, draw, Miss The-Establishment-is-Hampering-My-Creativity.
If you don't have anything more important to worry about than your clothing, that is your more important thing to worry about. I know I'd be ******** worried.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Well, theres no way in hell I'd wear that. Because that isn't my STYLE. Its not what I like. Do I try to force people to wear the s**t I wear? No, I don't. So we shouldn't be forced to wear things like that.

My life is social. I don't have time to be worrying about what will happen when I'm tweny five And frankly, I really don't give two shits what I'll be doing when I'm twenty five. My concerns are my clothes and my social life.
I don't want to waste my life doing some educational thing. I don't want to waste my life being bored to death. So I result to doing things that I enjoy. Many students do that. And then it is taken away. Then what? We b***h and complain and fail school, hoping it will change people's minds. There really aren't ANY pros at all to this. Its all just to annoy the s**t out of us.

i hate school uniforms the school issues them to try to make every one the same its like a school of robots ******** uniforms theres no individuality in that evil
Eh, close enough

Individuality should not only be expressed in your clothes. Perhaps you could wear some accessories. Maybe take an art class. Maybe not spouting the same bullshit that everyone does about uniforms turning people into robots.

Because I'll never be a terrorist

Oh, wow. Art class must be so much fun. rolleyes And there is no possible accessory that could look halfway decent compared to the hideous uniforms.
Eh, close enough

I've not seen what you're basing this terror of the teens on, so I can't say what would look good with it. Care to show a picture of the one you're on about?
Also, if you don't like art classes, try creative writing or something.

Because I'll never be a terrorist

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I'm really not into the whole educational thing..

And just about any uniform you can think of. Beige pants, a tie, plaid skirts, button downs, black shoes, all that crap sucks and looks horrible to wear on a day to day basis. Sure, if you like that stuff, then go wear it. But don't make us wear it.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

The school uniforms around here look fine. Actually. they're pretty spiffy. I don't think I've seen very many horrendous uniforms. But then, only one school around here is uniformed.

Because I'll never be a terrorist

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Well there isn't someone telling you that you can't dress like that. I, personally, hate skirts more than any other clothing item. They look hideous to me. And so do the pants that uniforms give us. But thats my opinion. Everyone has their likes and dislikes, so if there are no uniforms then nobody has to suffer.

@narutoluver411;
-Many people don't spend that long choosing what to wear.
-They'll find other ways to make fun of people. Then we'll end up where we started.
-It wont make anyone find other ways. It will only piss us off and make us break more school rules, resulting in us getting worse grades.
-If you think they look nice, then wear it. We don't like them, so why should we have to wear them? Do we force you to wear our clothes? No.
