NO they do not, let me first say that that is a very narrow minded approach to the issue i am about to talk about.
All anime's do not suck, there's bound to be something to your taste in all the different varieties.
Weather your into samurai's, or ninjas, or young men not having sex with women who are falling all over him.
what can be perfectly fine to say is that there are certain anime's that suck and that those anime's follow certain trends in anime that set off my shityness alert
1; Main characters that are self rightious smug d**k cheeses or are self rightious whiny pussies! or genuinely unlikable in every other way
aka Death Note, Devil May Cry etc
2: character's that although being male, look like skinny undernourished girls
aka Vampire Knights, Fruit basket etc
3: character's whose hair looks like they stuck it in paint, and dress like they were in an explosion right between a trendy clothes shop and a hot topic
aka Final Fantasy, The world ends with you, etc
4: choppy animation
... too many to list
5: female characters that show almost every inch of their animated boobies and still act supprised when random perverts show up and start to ogle them
I wouldn't know I don't watch those kinds of anime's
6: naruto, yes naruto! i don't care what anyone says that is one of the worst anime's you will ever see! the story line is corny, there is way to much filler, most of the character's are genuinely unlikable, and the main character is a perverted little douche bag with power fantasies
7: too many episodes, if a great story can be told in a single film there's no reason for some anime's stretching out over years and i mean years! to tell them! look at FCLC and some of the other OVA's, they tell the entire story in 6-12 episodes, they don't need 450 something episodes like well for example MOST OF THE ANIME's!
aka Naruto, Bleach etc
8: badly written anime's, containing shallow stock characters, and a story you've seen time and again of a character that is totally hopeless but has a dream.
aka death note, naruto and others!
now there are a few anime's that have some general appeal and are actually good
-one piece (because as soon as you compare anything to a magical rubber pirate it's going to lose, even if it has some of the above problems I can excuse it because it is totally original and as flawed as it is, see it anyway because you will never find anything else like it)
-FCLC (wonderful animation, humorously wacky, made valid points, didn't have any of the above problems and again see it, you will never see anything else like it)
-Trigun (while blighted by most of the above problems, it still makes me laugh because if there's one thing that can make me overlook the fact that it's anime is if it has an enjoyable main character and some wacky supports)
-Avatar (one of the first anime's to be written in America and created for nickelodeon of all things, i was already thinking it could be different, and it was, it was one of the most epic stories I've ever seen in an anime, it didn't streach for 200 episodes like some anime's the characters were all extremely likeable and the animation was so tasteful and enjoyable to watch)
alright, I've made some valid points and told you some exceptions to those problems, if you people have anything to say say it now
