Well I just want to say that if someone is bilingual or studying the language (and I mean seriously, not just reading manga) it's completely fine to mix it up. I've been living in Tokyo for four years now and find it impossible to quit saying Ne, EEHHH?, Desho, Suge, Domo, while speaking English. Most English speakers I know do the same and it's just the way it is when Japanese is such a big part of your life.
HOWEVER people who use Japanese online just because they think it's cool annoy the Hell out of me. More often than not they only know a few words and don't really understand what they're talking about. To the person who raised the point about lots of English words being used by Japanese people, most of the time their usage is a laughing stock and completely inane. Everyone here who's living or from Japan, is a native speaker or bilingual feel free to use Japanese words, but to everyone else you just sound like try hards. |
