Speed Grapher.

The main villains goal to destroy japan from the inside was accomplished. And his main objective was never to necessarily kill the main character. So he technically won.

Oh man I finished that series a couple of weeks ago. That was a pretty intense ending.

Interesting, though, because it wasn't just the villain-- pretty much everybody got what they wanted in the end, to some degree at least.

It was an ending that I was most pleased with.

Even if I really loved Suitengu. Even if he lived past the final episode, I doubt he had much longer to live after that.

Yeah, I was pretty happy with it, too.

At first it was kind of jarring, because it didn't go down like I had anticipated it to-- I was expecting a much more typical "happy" ending, where the heroic characters all live happily ever after. As illogical as it sounds, considering the series up to then. I think it's because I'm used to watching series that end like that :q

But then, I realized that while everyone lost something at the end of the series, they all got something good back. I mean, Saiga got to take pictures again, Kagura was able to live freely, heck, even Niihari was able to make off wealthy.

That being said... Now I can't think of another series that fits this topic, really. :

Have you read the manga? If you haven't then I highly recommend it stays that way.

The manga is god awful compared to the anime.

No, I haven't. Good to know, though I was never really intending to... I heard there was a light novel as well, but I don't aspire to read that, either.

Well, off to bed. 'Night.

It's related to Witchblade, right?

Yeah, I've heard of it, not so much gotten into it...

When liking or hating a character... Go to post 44 Anime/Manga/Comics Wed Dec 02, 2009 7:30 am
Can't think of too many anime characters that I can say I truly hate, but generally what makes me dislike a character is if they're a Mary Sue. God-moding powers, wangsty backstory, etc. etc.

Also on the list are white/silver-haired antagonists who disdainfully huff at the heroes, things which are so sickeningly cute they're artificial, weak and useless damsel-in-distress female characters who don't make any attempts to help themselves.

Conversely, I tend to love characters who are utter bastards that don't have any sort of sob-story background, even if they kill off other characters I love. Such as Akihiro Kurata in Digimon Savers, or Medusa in Soul Eater...

SAILOR MOON? MANGA? FRUITS BASKET? INUYASHA? Go to post 41 Chatterbox Wed Dec 02, 2009 7:03 am
I'm gonna go with "Manga", seeing as how it's an extremely ambiguous term...

I'll say "Uzumaki". Or maybe "Franken Fran". wink

I get what you're saying, but bawling like you parents died every time is, in my personal opinion, going way overboard.

The first time is understandable, and if it strikes something personal, then I'll give that, but... When it's because you're sad for the character, and you're wailing like a banshee, then you've gotta detach yourself from that character.

Suggested solution: Attach yourself to a plethora of characters who die. You desensitize to it extremely quickly...
