should i give up? Go to post 46 Art Discussion Thu Feb 22, 2007 3:07 pm
Don't worry about what other people think. I know my mother would never tell me the truth about my drawings, but my husband and friend would if I asked for their critique. My husband's helped me more with my drawings than anyone else ever has! Even my college professors!!! eek

In short, do it to have fun! But if you want to improve, ask for critiques from friends and family. Ask them to be brutally honest with you, and try not to get over emotional about it.

I used to use whiteout on my watercolor and marker pictures to add highlights and things... ^^ Now I use a Sakura opaque ink pen.
Attention: People Who Use Photoshop To Do Line Art Go to post 51 Art Discussion Thu Feb 22, 2007 2:53 am
I've tried doing lineart in The Gimp, and Painter, and it's just not as easy as Photoshop. Also, the recent copy of Photoshop only costs about 600 dollars, so I'm not sure why you're trying to get people to cough up a thousand so they can use a FREE program AFTERWARDS to line their works, when it's easy and clean to do in one that costs 600... talk2hand
Age has practically no correlation to art. Go to post 64 Art Discussion Thu Feb 22, 2007 2:40 am
If that were the case, I'd be friggin brilliant by now! I've been drawing since I can remember, and I'm still no where near as talented as some of my teen friends. I'm in my mid-20s now and they're so surpasing me. I still draw all the time too, and practice different mediums, styles, techniques.

Sorry, but neither age nor practice can make you beautiful. It's understanding, and still with all the practice I have done, I still don't understand how to place a work together to be really visually appealing. I'm trying, and trying, but it still won't come.
Copic Markers and White Gel Pens? Go to post 20 Art Discussion Thu Feb 22, 2007 2:32 am
SecretAsian
gel pens are....for amateurs (in my opinion that is)

But but... Toounit uses gel pens, and he's totally awesome! gonk

I'm probably going to pick up a few when I go shopping again just to see if I can get different effects with them. 4laugh I bet it'll make pretty lace~
