Art classes in middle to highschool don't advance much further from Elementary school. I think the only difference is the people in the class. What they do looks basically the same. Even in college we had a lot of the basic "draw what you see" or "make things out of this". Sure, the art looks a little better each time, but that's because of age, the classes don't really change.
I'm not sure how it is in an art college though. I was in one more for technical / engineering types of degrees, and they don't focus on their Fine Arts department at all. I think the last time I made something out of macaroni was the end of middle school or the start of highschool. |

I'm "the" graphic design artist at work. They don't focus on many designing projects, but whenever they need something graphical, they usually come to me. Sometimes they hire work outside of the company.
But, I don't mind. I like making things pretty. I'm hoping to get a better freelance position though. |

Here you go: Photo
Hard to do with that lighting. :< But basically I think with the hair you have, it would probably dry it out and turn it a bluish/greenish color. |

If you want to achieve a paint-like quality I would recommend Painter. It has many tools to create a more natural looking piece. However, I still do the linework with a small 3px brush in Photoshop. Really, to achieve the thicker and thinner lines without too much hassle, it would be best to work with a tablet, tablet PC, or tablet display if you aren't already.

I have the large scale Wacom Cintiq, a tablet display (very expensive but very well worth it). I'm sure Wacom's tablets are just as good though (but I never used one). I would trust them as a supplier/manufacturer.

I use my blender to blend colors together, but I accidentally filled it up once with too much and my whole picture started to bleed, thus I had to start over. D: It's important to make sure you don't put down too much blender, I've been using it now in light circular strokes in the areas I want to make "smoother".

I don't draw in public anymore. I got sick of people trying to talk to me about my drawings. It's like "Dude, I'm drawing to escape reality, not to discuss every line and detail with -you-!" gonk

I really depends on the picture. When I visited the city where plenty of beautiful artwork painted on the sides of buildings, but when I got back home (to a rual area) there's just grotesque doodles, of girl's privates, and stick people stabbing eachother, it's not art at all, just plain vandalism. It really depends on what is up on that wall.

Of course, acting is an art... but... please don't forget the set-hands. I used to be a set-hand, I painted, made stencils, helped great a realistic looking home that was two floors... but the actors had no respect for the set! Remember, that along with your acting, the set is also a piece of art and should be respected.

I set my expectations for myself pretty high, and tend to get depressed when I can't do it.
