For my two cents, I would much rather look at the black girls on the cover of Ebony, with their (more) realistic proportions than the stick-thin white blonde girls on the cover of Cosmopolitan. Seeing girls with bodies more like my own on the cover of magazines, regardless of color, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. 3nodding
But yes, I do agree quite a bit - the media could do a helluva lot more to portray women of color and women of all shapes and sizes - not just pencil thin and blonde - as beautiful. I believe a lot of the reason people find the 'ideal' beauty to be blonde and blue-eyed is because that's what we most often see. There are darker-complected and darker-haired women in the media, but from my perceptions, it seems like they're not being 'sold' as being as perfect as the skinny blonde girls. |

enlighten_the_messenger Hmm... Usually when I see white girls with black guys, it's the girls that seem stereotypical. Ghetto-b***h. That's how they act. It's incredibly irritating... I can like someone from any race. It irritates me that a lot of black guys won't date white girls unless they act black. Or have blonde hair xd ...or if they have similar interests, or similar tastes in music, or a certain type they're looking for. Some white girls are interested in the 'ghetto lifestyle', and thus choose to date men which exemplify that lifestyle. My group of friends is interested in anime. There are black, white, Asian, Russian, etc, etc. That's what binds us. Among groups of people into hip-hop culture, that's what binds them. Common interests. |

Tylast_Stryfe However I am scorned by most females of my race for various reasons, hell one told me "I did not sound black enough for her." Didn't you know how you were supposed to sound before you asked her out? Heavens forbid you don't live up to stereotypes and stuff. cry |

I don't disagree with you because I'm an anti-Bush hippy liberal Christian druggy.
I disagree with you because you're making sweeping generalizations about things you cannot possibly prove, which is pretty much against the rules of this forum. That doesn't mean I'm calling you names or think you're a bad person. I just happen to think you're saying a lot of things you can't possibly back up. |

This could have been written by my boyfriend. He is also a black guy that girls (I believe mostly white, but some black) never used to give a second thought to. He got 'nice guy'd a lot (as in "Oh, Jones! You're such a nice guy! Thank you for listening to me talk about my abusive boyfriend!" wink , but girls didn't give him the time of day.
Then, suddenly, when he started dating me (a white girl with light brown hair and blue eyes), we began to receive scorn and unwelcome attention from some of the black women in our workplace (for the curious, we're pretty much the furthest thing from PDA, so it wasn't that). I had never experienced this before and was genuinely distressed when another girl in our workplace (who had also dated black men) explained the attitude to me. If my boyfriend is such a hot commodity, why were no girls chasing him? This is just my personal experience, however. I personally feel like the color of our skin doesn't have that much to do with who we are, and I've never gotten along as well with anyone as I do my boyfriend. So to each their own. |

kumo mekeshi Did you know women are more emotional and can get Rrailed up much easier then men as well and in those states of mind your thought process's are weakened. Also, when it comes to street smarts, a majority (not all Women) Dont have alot of street smarts. Most dont know how to change a tire, chainge oil in a car. Use a map correctly. Uhh, wow. Nice to know things like lugwrenches and bolts are beyond me. Please support that claim with something my existance doesn't disprove. Also, define 'street smarts'. Also, also, welcome to 2007, where women aren't afraid of bearing grease. kumo mekeshi When it comes to alot of things when it comes to LIVING daily life, women fail at it. Unless its in the kitchen, yes I know that is a generalization, but a fairly true one. which is where that phrase "Women belong in the kitchen, not work" came from. Book smarts, yes Women I have noticed usually beat us at. But when you slide off the road, or have trouble outside the house, you normally lose to us. Well, I guess I know who to call next time I have a leaky faucet. Or I could just look up how to fix it on the internets and grab a wrench myself. Also please define 'living daily life', as I have lived by myself for stretches of my adult life of up to two years at a time with no problems. Actually, the only reason I live with others now is because I get lonely, not because I can't change my own flat tire. In my experience, the women you have described are not incapable of doing those things you attribute solely to men, they are simply lazy and don't think they should have to do 'men's work', or else have no real interest in mechanics or 'street smarts'. It is not, however, from a lack of aptitude or general intelligence. |

There are gay sheep? One would think that animals such as sheep would have no sexual preference...

Now this is inherently more interesting than all the threads on the Bible we seem to have popping up like mushrooms!
While I don't think Satanism is for me, I do respect people's opinions and religious beliefs. I also find this terribly interesting, as I like hearing about the religions of others. 3nodding |
