ChibiGingi Well, Zhen Ji is only in the game because of the simple fact that Wei needed a playable female character, and Zhen Ji was the only female character that was even mentioned in the novel on the Wei side (maybe one of Cao Cao's wives, too, but honestly, they're just there to breed his many children... sorry, that's how important women were back then). Yue Ying is there for the same reason as Zhen Ji; she has boobs and brings in the token female to the Shu side. She was more 'important' than Xing Cai I suppose... but once again, novel wise there weren't many outstanding women on the Shu side, unless you count in SSX/Sun Ren.
Wu, however, had Sun Ren/Shang Xiang, who not only married Liu Bei, but actually... DID SOMETHING IN THE NOVEL. No, she didn't fight, but she did bring about conflict of some kind and wasn't just there for one chapter or paragraph (unlike Zhen Ji and Yue Ying) dedicated to her. So, yes, SSX has a right to be in the games; her, Diao Chan, and even Zhu Rong have the most rights to be in the game more so than any of the other females considering that they actually contributed to the story and history besides to bear babies (Diao Chan excluded, considering I don't think she existed IRL, but still, novel-wise, she was important for awhile). The Qiaos are mentioned only for being beautiful, and as a scapegoat/factor for Zhuge Liang to entice Zhou Yu into going into war against Wei. Neither Qiao did anything significant to warrant even being there, if you factor in their importance to the story.
I think they could find more women if they tried - for instance, Empress Pan (Sun Quan's wife) or Lady Wu (Sun Quan's mother) both had pretty important roles. I mean, anytime Sun Quan got confused in the novel, he went to see Lady Wu! XD Or Empress Guo for Wei, although that would completely destroy their Cao Pi/Zhen Ji OTP of DEATH - lol just like history.
There's also Lady Cai and Liu Bei's wives, Ladies Mi and Gan.
Also, total agreement on the Ranmaru/Okuni unlocking in SW2 - wtf that game was annoying. :/

Bofu i don't like certain chinese people.. long story.. being half myself so i hate myself? but anyhoo.. i hate how SOME (not all) chinese ppl are ignorant and cocky ppl.. >>
thx gan.. yeah i like my avi's.. but some ppl just dont like em.. its like i heart koei.. and others don't.. 'repetitiveness' OH NOES!!!

Gan Li Yay, I can finally get on after three days! For some reason the server wouldn't let me get on that long yesterday I was jus able to get my daily chance, then it kicked me out. Wow, perverted? lol I voted too! For the both of yous.

Lord Tadakatsu Honda I don't think its weapon redundancy, casue if thats the case then most of the characters WOULDN'T have polearms. xD
Also (not at Tadakatsu), where I come from, going into a Koei thread and bashing Koei games is considered. You know. Trolling. 4laugh

Tristan_Alexander Does anyone know why they actually decided to make cuts in the roster instead of adding more or leaving it alone. I can't say that I'm really sad to see some of the cuts, so long as I can play Liu Bei I'll be happy.
Is there any word or mention of another Samurai Warriors game for the ps3, I'm just curious considering they are coming out with DW6.
Chars like Jiang Wei, Meng Huo, and Zhu Rong only show up after Liu Bei's death. Since Da and Xiao Qiao have the same weapons, the designers probably thought they were redundant, and hence got rid of the less popular one (which I pearsonally think is a shame, since I liked playing Da more than Xiao). And I couldn't hazard a guess as to why they cut the other... three? But it's probably related.
I personally wish they'd add Zhuge Jin, but that's just me - and if they keep cutting chars, I doubt we'll see it.

Try bookmarking these pages:
Yue Ying's Japanese Name list
This link gives you a rundown of all the names, style names, and Japanese pronunciations (I don't recommend trying to learn the names in Japanese at first, unless you're reading Ikkitousen or watching Koutetsu Sangokushi)
Kongming's Archives
This page gives you a little background info on what style names are and whose is whose.
And just for fun:
San: A Three Kingdoms Comic
A silly 4koma series that tells the stories in Romance of the Three Kingdoms with Dynasty Warriors character designs. Pretty hilarious.
As for learning the style names, I'd suggest learning them one and two at a time, instead of trying to memorize the whole list at once. Take a couple of your favorite chars and learn theirs - that's how I did it.
