Hey, GCD. The devs are laughing at us (especially Fleep)! Go to post 142 Gaia Community Discussion Mon Mar 24, 2008 5:55 am

Lol, you guys realize this is the best event ever, right?

No lag, nothing to collect, no one to kiss and/or stake through the heart. That's what everyone gets for complaining so f'ing much. The devs are geniuses. "Let's give them an item and watch them make theories and speculate about it all day!!"

Brilliant.

"They wanna complain about getting crappy items? They complain when they don't get items at all? They want plot updates?! Well, GCD, here's an item that's f'ing ticking!!! From the freakin' EASTER BUNNY!!! It could be a plot update, there might be more, but YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!!! BWAHAHAHAHA WE FINALLY WIN!!!"

No spoons. You don't deserve them. But the devs do.

I think you're on to something. I'd feel the same way if I were a dev for gaia. Hell, I feel the same way as it is!

that'd be so funny if it's true. but then disappointment sets in and we decide to raid gaia hq in protest

Then a bunch of disgruntled weeaboos get teargassed and shot with non-lethal SWAT weaponry. Lol.
Save the plot updates!!! (( Viva la Plotline!)) [The 2nd!] Go to post 816 Petitions Mon Mar 24, 2008 5:16 am
I'll sign.

A big PHPBB forum with flash and javascript mods isn't quite as entertaining without lame little plotlines for the NPCs.

Interesting. I didn't notice that before...

which is more difficult? knitting or crocheting? Go to post 13 Textiles and Crafts Sun Mar 23, 2008 1:21 am
I only know how to crochet. I think it was pretty easy to learn, but it's much more confusing without being able to see it demonstrated by someone. I didn't get what a book was saying until I saw a youtube video demonstration.

Knitting scares me. Using two needles and counting your stitches seems daunting to me. I often have to count and then recount my stitches with crochet and it's a pain, lol.

One other very quick thing I would recommend to a beginning crocheter - the type of yarn you use will make a big difference. Don't go for anything too frilly, or you won't be able to see your stitches. A slippery yarn can also be frustrating. I would recommend a plain, brightly colored yarn of acrylic, cotton, or wool, in a worsted weight. Make sure it isn't too bumpy looking (most bumpy yarn would be labeled boucle). When I first learned to crochet I used a variegated cotton yarn (it changes colors or shades as you go) and it was so nice because I could always tell where my current piece of yarn was in relation to the previous row. Best of luck!

good point about the yarn!
I think a good yarn for a beginner would be Red Heart yarn. It is very cheap, acrylic and worsted.
It is what I started with and it is available in a great variety of colors.

I use red heart for practice, myself. I have some solid color and some verigated. Very wallet friendly.

If you're unable to afford a physical book to learn crochet with, you could try a couple of nice websites that offer a lot of very affordable (read: FREE) help and support as well as patterns and recommendations for materials and techniques.

A couple I regularly visit are:

CrochetMe

Crochetville Forums

The odd youtube video tutorial really helps too, if you're a more interactive visual learner. I actually found out what I was doing wrong with my sc's by checking out a youtube video and it helped me a lot in my progression as a beginner more than my book had.

EDIT: Also, excellent to see another Guild Wars player!

I love this movie. Easily one of my top 5 favorites of all time. Excellent cast, excellent characters, excellent story, plenty of nice, black humor and good cinematography without a bunch of overhyped special effects to clog up the flow of the plot.
3/10/08 Weekly Poll - Are you concerned about a recession? Go to post 8042 Gaia Polls Tue Mar 11, 2008 12:45 am
Pretty sure we've been in a recession (although varying slightly in magnitude) since the dot com bubble burst back in the early '00s.

All this outsourcing is just making things that much worse. I think we should worry more about going into a full-blown depression again rather than the recession we've been in for almost a decade.
