It's preposterous to spend 300k on an item that was in stores for 500 gold just because they thought they'd never see it again

Metroid Dread ![]() I support the Church in their crusade against homosexuality, because it's within their rights to do so. I support the college systems in their right to raise tuition fees, because it's within their rights to do so. I support the government when they raise taxes, because it's within their rights to do so. I support the FCC's editing and general slicing and dicing of entertainment media, because it's within their rights to do so. Alternatively, I support racism, sexism, and cultural tea-bagging because it's within people's rights to do so. Pretty guillible is you ask me. Now if you're saying you support people's right to have those opinions then I'd agree with it. And I support people's right to argue against people having those opinions. Rights go both ways. |

Gaia gave a bonus so users will be encouraged to s/b the cigs to the shops.
And this cig ban seemed half-a**'d to begin with so I'm not surprised that they're still in the overseer. Probably some in the DC, too. |

Failingly Infallible Yes, Deja. I'm acting like I'm new. Now, pardon me while I go spam up the CB and hang out in rallies with all my little newbie friends. confused And if the site is condescending towards what equates to their customer service department, then what do you suppose we do? If they're so unwilling to listen to us when there is a REAL issue, what point is there in protest? At least we're trying, Deja. We're trying to be heard. It might be pointless, we might not be taken seriously, but at least we're willing to fight for the sensibility of a site that we've devoted time and effort to, some of us for years. Effort is all some of us have. We don't have teams of lawyers; ********, we're BARELY organized! What can we really do beyond this? Throw a goddamn Hail Mary, that's what. It's better than sitting on our hands, at least... Wow, breathe in breathe out. I'm in here giving my opinion on what we could do. I'm saying that this time we can put some more effort into it by trying to go beyond the SF/GCD. Yeah, we don't have lawyers, but we know how to get from the SF to the GD or the Entertainment forum, right? We know how to post on-topic with a little off-topic advertisement to the post. We have sigs and profiles. And now we have facebook. So, for this survey to make more of impact, we'd need to go beyond getting opinions from users who happen to be in the SF. |

DravenAngel I'm not upset about the ban of tobacco related products, I'm upset at how they communicated it to us. First, there was no warning, I felt that was in poor judgement. Secondly the reasons they gave were nonsensical garbage. I'm a 25 year old adult. I deserve to be treated as such. Even if this site is pg-13 I can't imagine that a majority of the userbase is incapable of rational thought. You may not agree with it, but if it's presented in a logical manner I don't see the problem. They chose to tell us it was to save our e-lungs. That's insulting. |

Valentine `deja vu If Gaia is suppose to pay attention to this then I'd think it'd get more respect if it wasn't so narrowed to SFers/GCDers. Too many times, I see the SF/GCD filled with posts from mostly regs, saying they won't buy CS items or donate to Gaia because of some reason or another. But the rest of Gaia does the opposite or don't step foot in those forums. Which doesn't make a dent in Gaia's profit or get them to change. The result is a pose that mocks the GCD. I don't know about you, but I've been watching a lot of these anti-ban threads pass by, and a vast number of them are by people I've never seen in Site Feedback before. They might be from GCD, which I'm less familiar with, but they're certainly not only SF regs. I was actually a little surprised by how many unfamiliar names I've seen posting here -- clearly this protest is going beyond one little forum. I believe it is, too. I'm saying that 100 opinions on it isn't enough for this survey if it's used to catch the devs/admins' attention. & also I read "site feedback" as facebook for some reason. But now that I think about it, it'd be a good idea to include face book in this protest. Gaia has been making a big effort to get users on facebook and connect them to this site. It'll be a good idea to use it against them. You can use polls on that, right? |

Failingly Infallible `deja vu [♥♥♥] Whether or not it'll change the outcome isn't my point. If Gaia is suppose to pay attention to this then I'd think it'd get more respect if it wasn't so narrowed to SFers/GCDers. All it results is in a pose that mocks the GCD. That strikes me as a tad condescending. This forum is here for users to give the site feedback on their practices, and that's what this is. There is NO "Silent Majority" in this matter; yes, the SF and GCD has regulars, and yes, the few can be louder than the many at times, but that doesn't mean everything they say shouldn't be considered. Oh, by the way? I've only set foot in this forum TWICE before this issue sprung up. People DO look at other forums, you know. We're not all as narrow-minded as you seem to want to believe. Are you purposely behaving like you're new to the site? :/ I mean, seriously. How many times have you seen the GCD/SF complain about something or demand more communication and it resulted in nothing more than a mocking pose or Gaia ignoring the website. I'm not saying that SFers/GCDers shouldn't be heard, I'm saying that 9 times out of 10 ,Gaia doesn't hear them or doesn't live up to their logical demands. Gaia is known for being condescending towards the GCD/SF. Look at the ban announcement. It's like their talking to a 5 year old. I'm saying do something that says to Gaia that you can't treat us like you have before by brushing aside our complaints and doing what you want because we have a more users from other forums to back us up now. |

Failingly Infallible `deja vu [♥♥♥] Most of the users who did this are SFers or GCDers, I bet. How is that a good cross-section of the site's userbase? Specifically, since most users stick to their own forums. If Gaia does something insane, they rather b***h about it in their own forums then visit the GCD/SF. It'll be better to advertise the survery in each forum on here and get a more accurate results in that way then what? 10% of the population. I would bet my life that the results would be similar, if not nearly identical. Regardless of age, gender, preference, the majority of this site is against the ban, what is going to change with more polling? Whether or not it'll change the outcome isn't my point. If Gaia is suppose to pay attention to this then I'd think it'd get more respect if it wasn't so narrowed to SFers/GCDers. And this could end the same way if there isn't, maybe, 100+ votes from other forums included. |

[♥♥♥] I agree for the most part.
And I don't even think Gaia is trying to say that cigs influence kids to smoke. They just said, in their opinion, it's gross IRL and don't make your avatar look sexy. They need to be as informative with their opinions as the OP, really. |

Failingly Infallible `deja vu [♥♥♥] Um, why should Gaia listen to the views of 100 users when there are over 100,00 users on here? Not with our resources, we can't. This is more information than the site has given us, doesn't that count for something? Most of the users who did this are SFers or GCDers, I bet. How is that a good cross-section of the site's userbase? Specifically, since most users stick to their own forums.
