I'm not alone anymore...I was starting to believe that there was something wrong with me. Hahaha, no you're not alone. i n k y B E A R I used to be that bad. Looking back now, I would've rather liked to shoot myself. On forums and blogs and the like, I expect decent grammar, a typo here or there being acceptable. I can't do anything about the less linguistic part of the internet population, so I deal with it. But when u takl liek dis or when u r3p1ac3 3v4ry1h1ng w1th numb3rs, I cannot stand it. Idiocy I will ignore completely. IMs, I can live with errors, simply because my brain runs faster than my hands and I sometimes skip words. But I'm a literate, I know how to speak English, don't worry. Once someone sent me a PM asking me to critique their story, and the 'e's were replaced with '3's... |

Brilwen I Solemnly Swear I've noticed a lot of the chatspeak in the writers forum as well lately it's horrible, I'm normally not one to complain about ones grammar because I'm dyslexic and I have a problem with it myself. Minor errors yeah, I tend to ignore those because they're probably typos and what not. But when the regulars start to use that crap, I know the end is near, that stuff gives me a headache just to even TRY to understand. Thank goodness for the spell checker huh? I wouldn't know what to do without mine and not to mention my dictionary. ~ Aliyssa ~ That I, Am Up To No Good *sniffle* It seems as if we're all going down... You something's up whenever People on the CB are using full sentences. |

Suburban Living Made Cool reindrops medley Okay, then I'm just assuming that this thread meets sticky criteria...Yay. =0@suburban: I use Firefox, which comes with an automatic spell check luckily for me. That keeps down my spelling errors immensely. Quote: I have Chrome. It also catches spelling mistakes, but some mistakes slip right under its radar. Did you know in Firefox the name "Rebecca" is considered a mistake. It drove me up a wall when I used to have Firefox. Firefox is the only one I've used that recognizes 'Briana' as a name and not an error. rofl Could you see if Chrome underlines that in red? I'm curious now. |

That keeps down my spelling errors immensely. @Biblio: So you see the fun involved with spammers as well? @Flying Tigress: That's one thing that Firefox spell check doesn't help me with. If I make a sentence fragment...I probably wouldn't notice unless it's pointed out. It's a good thing we are able to go back and edit our post. |

Which leads me to asking these two questions. What is 'your' policy on improper grammar/spelling? If you notice that someone's fingers are running faster than their brain causing a tiny error to occur are you the one too who screams bloody murder with flailing appendages? Er maybey u onleh doo dat wen teh santance lewks lyke dis? I'm not sure if this thread follows the rules of the almighty stickies, but I can't find anything against it. I'll just have to post and see. If there are multiple following post that one way or another say 'Hey stupid, read the stickies' in a witty fashion then I shall know.
